PROGRESSIVE ROCK & PROGRESSIVE METAL - E-ZINE - Recommends

THE MAIER PROJECT - "Paris"
The Austrian Band The Maier Project had been formed in 2006 and created instrumental music only in their very beginnings. The first songs with lyrics formed the legendary album "A Gallery Of Dreams" in 2010 which is not available anymore. "Dragons" followed and made its way to the stores, with the single "Rush Hour" which had been listed among the Top 30 of alternative US charts.  Paris" is the 4th album of The Maier Project and has been strongly influenced by the assault against the editorial of Charlie Hebdo in January 2015. This and the ruthless actions of large economic enterprises harming the health of humans and animals led to several songs with political impact, garnished with thoughts about love, relationships and the feeling to be at home. Again strong melodic guitars build the backbone of the songs with moderate or fast rhythms, accompanied by undulating piano sequences, floating organ or string section. The baritone voice of Hans Maier reminds of songs by David Byrne, Lou Reed, Peter Hammill in a sometimes heavier way which some critics compared with Nine Inch Nails, Pink Floyd or Porcupine Tree.
