The album stormed the #1 position on the Official UK Top 40 Rock Album Chart; #13 in the Top 40 Album Chart and #2 in the Top 40 Indie Album Chart. It made #3 in Classic Rock's "Critics Album of the Year" poll, while Planet Rock listeners crowned them Best New Band of 2010.

Recent live shows in the UK in December 2010 had the Birmingham Mail calling their performance "rip-roaring" and "breathtaking." Classic Rock reported "a scorching set from start to finish."

ARRAYAN PATH - Two new albums & a new name!

ARRAYAN PATH (formerly ARRYAN PATH) announce not one but two new albums and also introduce the band's new name!

ARRAYAN PATH's upcoming (third) album, which as already announced will be titled "Ira Imperium" will be released in September. The album will also feature a very special guest vocalist whose name will be revealed in April. "This guest appearance is quite special and we feel it deserves an announcement of its own so we'll leave it for a little bit later..." as Nicholas Leptos, vocalist and main songwriter comments. So fans will have to be just a little bit patient!

ARRAYAN PATH will have not one but two albums in a short period of time! Following the release of "Ira Imperium" a new album will come out in early 2012. It will be titled "Stigmata" and more details regarding that will be made available at a later stage. Both albums will be released by Pitch Black Records and die-hard fans can of course expect special limited editions for both albums.

The band has also made the move towards slightly modifying its name of over ten years. This was done for obvious reasons and the fact that it became extremely annoying for all band members trying to convince others on the meaning of their band's name. It was decided to simply add an extra 'A' in 'arryan', thus changing the pronunciation and of course obliterating even the tiniest concern that ARRAYAN PATH is in any way related to Nazism or any kind of racism or other extreme political views.

Commenting on this, Nicholas Leptos says that "this was always evident through our lyrics and live shows but despite our best efforts to try to convince people otherwise some still chose to look at it differently. What does the new name mean…? Absolutely nothing! The decision to modify our name wasn't easy but we felt it was needed so there you have it. ARRAYAN PATH's music will remain in the same style and "Road to Macedonia" and "Terra Incognita" will still be played live and will still be mentioned in our discography".

The band's second album, "Terra Incognita", released in 2010 through Pitch Black Records, was recently nominated for IMPALA's Independent European Album of the Year Award and ARRAYAN PATH is already scheduled to make a number of appearances this year including the Ayia Napa Youth Festival in Cyprus (August), Germany's Swordbrothers Festival in September and a December show in Athens along with Atlantean Kodex.

NeraNature - promo track available to stream on Myspace

"Shattered", the first track promoting the debut solo album by Nera, the vocalist of the Polish metal band Darzamat, is available to stream on Myspace. New material entitled "Foresting Wounds" will be released under the moniker NeraNature by Metal Mind Productions on the 9th of May. "Shattered" was among the first tracks written by Nera and makes a great foretaste of what can be find on the album.

NeraNature was founded by Nera in 2009. The project appeared as a space where the air is filled with matters lingering in her head, a bit more intimate, private and sometimes bizarre and freakish. "I've been waiting for a long time for the right place and time to find an outlet for my personal thoughts and beliefs. This is the time and place" – explains Nera.

The name of the band is a combination of two words: Nera, the nickname of the vocalist, and Nature, referring to a reflection on a deep connection with the environment. It can also be interpreted as the nature of Nera – a diversity of views reflected in the songs. The feminine character of lyrics imbued with the feminist outlook on life constitutes one of the most significant elements of the projects, touching upon such issues as man's detachment from nature and running away from himself/herself.

The debut album  entitled "Foresting Wounds" will contain 11 compositions. On this Youtube website you can find a short trailer promoting the album.

NEARfest 2011 Cancelled

It is our sad duty to inform you that the 2011 edition of the North East Art Rock Festival has been cancelled due to a lack of ticket sales. This unfortunate result is likely the product of lower-than-expected interest in a transitional lineup of talented international acts combined with a slow-to-rebound U.S. economy. Despite utilizing our well-established avenues of communication and traditional revenue streams, including the annual Patron Program, it has become apparent to the five of us that ceasing operation of NEARfest 2011 is truly the only recourse.

Though enthusiasm for an experimental new direction was not sufficiently obtained, we do greatly thank those of you that had already purchased tickets for your continued support. Rest assured that all tickets purchases will be refunded in full, including the donation portion of any Patron ticket. If an Patron would like to retain their donation status with the festival to help offset any cancellation fees we may incur, please contact Jim Robinson (jim@nearfest.com) privately by email. For those who have already booked airline travel, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and hope that you can get the most value out of any non-refundable tickets. All hotel and ca rental reservations should be well outside their respective penalty windows.

We also apologize to the bands that were scheduled to play in 2011. We always look forward to presenting an exciting and diverse lineup of wonderful bands from around the world, and that includes getting to know some of the personally. We are truly sorry that we cannot have you grace our stage this year.

Please note that no decisions have been made regarding the long-term future of the festival.

Sincerely,

Ray Loboda, Operations Coordinator

Nemesea signs deal with Napalm Records

We are really happy and excited to announce that we have signed a record deal with Napalm Records. Teaming up with Napalm Records is something we have been looking forward to for quite some time now. We've been working really hard on our new album and are very excited that Napalm has taken us under its wings. A great record company that believes in Nemesea! There's a lot of emotion on this album, as well as power and anxiety. The upcoming album is filled with strong and powerful songs, as well as beautiful fragile ballads. We are confident that Napalm Records will bring the music where it belongs.

New drummer for Nemesea

A while ago Steven and Nemesea decided to part ways. We will remain friends and wish him all the best. We are very happy to announce that we have already found a new drummer. His name is Frank van der Star. Frank also did the drum recordings for the new album. You can read more about Frank on his website.

Memories Of Machines, the new project from Tim Bowness (No-Man) and Giancarlo Erra (Nosound).

Warm Winter is the hugely anticipated debut album by Memories Of Machines, the new project from Tim Bowness (No-Man) and Giancarlo Erra (Nosound).

While drawing on the atmospheric nature of their main bands, MoM carves out a unique space for itself with an emphasis placed on direct song-writing and powerful instrumental arrangements, as much as on mood.

Recorded in the UK, the US, Italy and Sweden, Warm Winter includes stellar guest contributions from the likes of Peter Hammill (Van Der Graaf Generator), Colin Edwin (Porcupine Tree), Robert Fripp (King Crimson), Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree, No-Man etc), Julianne Regan (All About Eve), Jim Matheos (OSI/Fates Warning) and Huxflux Nettermalm (Paatos).

Offering an ambitious yet accessible combination of epic Art Rock and bittersweet, singer-songwriter intimacy, the album contrasts rich melodies, soaring choruses and stunning guitar solos (Warm Winter, Before We Fall) with ethereal Ambient experiments (Lost And Found In The Digital World), and haunting, narrative-driven songs, such as the highly personal Schoolyard Ghosts.

Shifting from the sweetly delirious optimism of Change Me Once Again and Beautiful Songs You Should Know to the desolate self-reflection of the closing Electronica / Chamber Classical hybrid At The Centre Of It All, Warm Winter is an assured and emotionally cohesive debut that ably highlights the sympathetic musical chemistry between Bowness and Erra.

The album, which is available as a digi-pack cd and a limited edition heavyweight vinyl release, was mixed by Steven Wilson and mastered by Jon Astley (The Who, Led Zeppelin, Tori Amos).
All pre-orders come with a postcard signed by Tim and Giancarlo.

New York Dolls premiere new video for single 'Fool For You Baby'

To coincide with this week's release of the New York Dolls' critically acclaimed fifth studio album 'Dancing Backward in High Heels', the band has released a promo video for their new single 'Fool For You Baby'.  The video, directed by Jeremy Johnstone (Mono, Young Widows), features original Dolls founding members David Johansen and Sylvain Sylvain.

The video for 'Fool For You Baby' showcases the Dolls in a circus tent.  Guitarist Syl Sylvain is the circus ring leader, and as the camera moves through the circus ring, more characters are revealed including a fire breather, a strongman, and a sword swallower.  Singer David Johansen appears in the background and gradually dances forwards in slow motion as he sings the lyrics.

It's a poignant, cinematic homage to rock and roll, and the Dolls' first official promo music video since 'Dance Like A Monkey', which is taken from the 2006 album 'One Day It Will Please Us To Remember Even This'.  Watch the 'Fool For You Baby' video on YouTube:

Brian Eno "1971 - 1977 : The Man Who Fell To Earth" on DVD May 17

Documentary featuring exclusive interviews, archival footage,
performance and studio film and more

Brian Peter George St. John le Baptiste de la Salle Eno - Brian to his friends, Eno to the rest of us - defies categorisation. Musician, composer, record producer, music theorist, singer and visual artist covers some of what he does, but he's probably best known for his early work with Roxy Music, his production duties for U2 and Coldplay and as one of the principal innovators of ambient music. But however he's pigeon-holed, this remarkable, creative visionary remains amongst the most influential individuals to have ever worked within the music industry.

This documentary film - the first ever about Eno - explores his life, career and music between the years 1971 and 1977, the period that some view as his golden age, others as just one era in a long, extraordinary and very eclectic career.

Featuring numerous exclusive interviews, contributions from a range of musicians, writers [including his official biographer], colleagues, collaborators and friends - plus archive footage, performance and studio film and an abundance of arguably the most exceptional music ever created.

Also contains many extra features including extended interviews, digital biographies and more.

Banda do Sol celebrates good repercusion on media

The new album "Tempo" was mixed in the United States by the ex-Yes guitarist, Billy Sherwood

Tempo is the title of the album that marks the return of the veteran Brazilian progressive rock band BANDA DO SOL. The album was mixed in the United States by the ex-Yes guitarist Billy Sherwoodwhich also have produced bands like Motörhead, Toto and Ratt. The mastering was also made in the United States by the legendary Joe Gastwirt (Paul McCartney, Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Pearl Jam, Ramones, etc).

Tempo release show happened August last year in the city of Sorocaba, Sao Paulo state. At the time, BANDA DO SOL played with the Symphonic Orchestra of the city and had the distinguished participation of Billy Sherwood. Over 7000 people attended the event.

Tempo was received with open arms by progressive rock fans worldwideNeverthelessthe album only got positive reviews on press. Critics are full of praise for BANDA DO SOL.
The website "Progressive Rock & Progressive Metal", have elected "Tempo" as "Album of The Month" (in August 2010) and also published that "Tempo is full of wonderful musical elements around a symphonic progressive rock, the sound quality is the best in best, the arrangements are so intenses, the instrumental is full of amazing emotions... Brilliant, fantastic, and an amazing album and band, highly recommendable..."

Tempo is being well received even in the specialized heavy metal media, such as the respected Brazilian webzine Novo Metal. Tempo was voted one of "Best Brazilian Albums of 2010" by the editor Matheus Vieira. On the review of the album, the same journalist reported: "With lyrics of good taste, Banda do Sol makes a beautiful sound, clean and with feeling. Formed by musicians with vast experience in the Brazilian scene, this album shows the band wonderful songs as "Quem Eu Sou?","Yes Blues" and "Tempo".

Although aimed to progressive rock - a music segment with no good space in the mainstream media - BANDA DO SOL is finding its place among the mass media. The journalist Marcelo Moreira of the major Brazilian newspaper, Jornal da Tarde, devoted an entire edition of his column 'Combate Rock' to write about BANDA DO SOL. The title of his story could not be more appropriate: "Brazilian Progressive Rock has name: Banda do Sol"

BANDA DO SOL's Tempo can be found for sale at Livraria Cultura -

Odin's Court release new album "Human Life in Motion"

Human Life in Motion is a concept album with an introspective look at the individual's life and
mind. Each song deals with a primary human emotion and takes the listener on a journey
through a range of feelings and textures. Brookins comments, "While [the last Odin's Court
album] Deathanity was philosophical and macro in scope, Human Life in Motion is more introspective and personal, dealing with the human mind and experiences. Since we set out to make Deathanity a very artsy album, this latest effort was designed to be more accessible and catchy. That doesn't mean that the intricacies or diversity of the music are gone, but it does mean that those characteristics are much more transparent to the casual listener."

Odin's Court draws from classic inspirations such as Pink Floyd, Boston, Queen, Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Journey as well as more modern bands such as Devin Townsend, Counting Crows, Type O Negative, OSI, Porcupine Tree, and Tool.

Artillery's My Blood out today!

Artillery's brand new album "My Blood" has just been released in Europe and Japan.

"My Blood" is the follow-up to their highly acclaimed album "When Death Comes" from 2009 and contains 11 blistering tracks that fill the void between past glory and future splendor. New material was recorded between November 2010 and January 2011 at Medley Studios in Denmark with Søren Andersen as the producer. The band promote the new album with a video clip to the track "Warrior Blood" available on Metal Mind Productions' channel on YouTube.

What can we expect from the musical side of the new album? Guitarist Michael Stützer says: "The sound is a bit more heavy than it was on 'When Death Comes'. The music is a mixture of our previous albums 'When Death Comes' and 'By Inheritance', with a slight touch of 'Terror Squad' and 'Fear of Tomorrow' with some oriental pieces."

So far their new record is getting rave reviews from European media. Here is the one from Greece: "Artillery definitely have sold their soul to the devil! Like another Faust the band and its members seem to have a second youth. How else can I explain the fact that the band opens this album with the amazing and over 7 and a half minutes long song entitled "Mi Sangre (The Blood Song)" which truly is an example of how thrash metal music must be played. And this song is only an appetizer, because what comes after it, can only be described as 'all hell breaks loose'." You can read the entire review here.

The album is available as a jewel case CD and as a digipak CD including 2 bonus tracks. Japanese edition of the album includes an exclusive bonus track which is not available elsewhere. The US release date is set for 5th April (via MVD).

A message from Power of Prog helping Japan

Artwork by ED Unitsky
As many of you know I not only run a label but am involved in many other music projects that revolve around the promotion of music. Well the most recent project that has taken precedence over everything is our new charity CD called STRENGTH. Strength is a Digital CD to help raise money for the people of Japan, in the aftermath of the tragic Tsunami and Earthquakes that have devastated the country since March 11, 2011 it will be available for sale come Tuesday March 22nd and that's because we are still receiving and vetting songs for this release.

This release would not have happened without the music community coming to the rescue and donating music for such an important cause. We have set up so that people can buy just one track or the entire CD (looks like it may be a 2CDset) for a minimum price or they can donate more if they wish. You can preview what is up so far, here is the link. http://thereishoperecords.com/album/strength

I have put up a very special album on the 7th day this week. There is a draw back if you are not a friend of the 7th day you will never know what I am talking about.

"I am excited to say that in the coming weeks we have 2 new releases due, Contrast by Morre and String Theory by The RoboDrum. Some big announcements next week, one of which is we have just signed a new band from Israel. More on that so stay tuned. One last thing I would like to welcome the many new people on this website".

NeraNature reveal new details on the debut album

Nera, the vocalist of the Polish metal band Darzamat, reveals new details on her forthcoming debut solo album "Foresting Wounds", which will be released under the moniker NeraNature by Metal Mind Productions on the 9th of May. Earlier, in April, a radio single entitled "Shattered" will be released to promote the album, along with the cover song "The World is Not Enough" from the repertoire of Garbage.

The debut album entitled "Foresting Wounds" contains 11 compositions. Today, Nera reveals its tracklist:

1. Shattered
2. Precious Now
3. The World is Not Enough* (Garbage's cover)
4. Woman Soul
5. Oblivion
6. Broken
7. Disappointed
8. Some Air
9. Scar
10. Before
11. Dormant
12. Someone

On THIS Youtube website you can find a short trailer promoting the album.

LOST IN THOUGHT and the album "Opus Arise"

"This is a must for all fans of Threshold, Circus Maximus, Pagan's Mind and Seventh Wonder." A new generation of Progressive Metal has been born in Wales by the up and coming Lost In Thought. Lost In by the up and coming Lost In Thought. Lost In Thought formed in late 2007 when David Grey and Simon Pike embarked on a quest to find other musicians to compose and perform progressive tinged music with. Linking with Greg Baker and Chris Billingham, they soon became a force to be reckoned with in their home of UK.

After completing their line-up with vocalist Nate Loosemore, the band recorded a demo EP early 2010, immediately grabbing the attention of well-renowned booking and management company Intromental Worldwide. Setting out to write and record their debut album in the fall of 2010, the band realized that they had been composing 8 songs that weren't just of "newcomer status", but really were of as high quality as any contemporary progressive metal album out there. Sweden's Inner Wound Recordings label recognised the talent and potential, and signed the band for a spring 2011 release. The debut album, "Opus Arise", was recorded at home in Wales, and sent off to Denmark to be mastered by Jacob

Hansen (known for Volbeat, Mercenary, Destruction, Pretty Maids, Rob Rock a.o).

The band has a wide variety of musical influences, which is incorporated in their music. Combining the elements of progressive rock/metal, melodic metal-core and symphonic metal to create their unique and epic sound. From all these musical elements, Lost In Thought's music consists of both heavy and distinct riffs, large orchestrations, melodic guitar and keyboard unisons, epic vocal melodies, variable time signatures and dynamic ballad sections. At the same day the debut album "Opus Arise" is released, the band will embark on a one month long tour supporting Delain and Serenity at venues across Europe. Do not miss out on this exciting new band!

Lost in Thought line-up:
Nate Loosemore - Vocals
David Grey - Guitars & Vocals
Greg Baker - Keyboards
Simon Pike - Bass
Chris Billingham - Drums

Specials: Mastered by Jacob Hansen [Volbeat, Pretty Maids, Destruction]. On tour with Delain and Serenity in April / May!
