I SEE YOU: new album from classic prog band Gong

GONG releases new album, I SEE YOU
(Franco-British progressive rock group still creating new music.)

Gong's new album I SEE YOU is now out on Madfish (a division of Snapper Music) in North America.

Please note that Gong co-founder Daevid Allen currently is in treatment for cancer. We will set up interviews with other band members: Orlando Allen on drums, bassist Dave Sturt, guitarist Fabio Golfetti, and horn player Ian East winds. Another guitarist Kavus Torabi (formely of The Cardiacs and also with Gong guitarist Steve Hillage) is new to the band; he is also available.

The current incarnation of Gong comprises vocalist / lyricist Daevid Allen, who, even at the age of 75, still radiates an incandescent creativity, the original anarchic vibe that was born out of counter-culture revolution in the Paris commune in 1968. Allen's own, highly idiosyncratic worldview helped kick-start the classic Brit psychedelic explorers, Soft Machine when the '60s were still swinging. His co-conspirators on I SEE YOU are Orlando Allen on drums, new guitarist Kavus Torabi (The Cardiacs), guitarist Brazilian Fabio Golfetti, horn player Ian East winds, and bassist Dave Sturt (the sonic manipulator).

I SEE YOU is timeless and timely, a welcome antidote to an increasingly homogenized musical mainstream. The playful song "I See You" is fusion and kicks off the album. "Syllabub" could be a hit, and namedrops culture in a fun-loving way. Tracks such as "This Revolution," a spoken piece which namechecks Gil Scott-Heron and picks up the vibe of his "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised," articulates the kind of concerns and theories that've always inspired Daevid Allen and informed the Gong worldview, contrasts with the ferocious inter-stellar Funk of "You See Me," which is sure to be a live favorite. "Thank You" is a heavy slab of psychedelicised blues, whilst the closing song "Shakti Yoni Dingo Virgin," a moody, melodic instrumental piece with heavy pant-singing--serves to illustrate the immense musical firepower and musical diversity that lurks within the current line-up of Gong.

Gong hopes to take I SEE YOU out on tour in the coming months when Daevid's health will allow. Do listen, because I SEE YOU offers up yet more proof that Daevid Allen's creative wellspring shows no sign of running dry, and that the latest Gong line-up has the kind of musical acumen that matches any of their classic line-ups of yore.

Gong is a Franco-British rock band formed by Australian musician Daevid Allen. Other notable band members include Kevin Ayers. Tim Blake, Didier Malherbe, Pip Pyle, Gilli Smyth, Steve Hillage, Francis Moze, Mike Howlett, Pierre Moerlen, Allan Holdsworth, Bon Lozaga, Hansford Rowe. Mick Taylor & Darryl Way have played on Gong albums, and Van Der Graaf Generator drummer Guy Evans played with Gilli Smythe's Mother Gong Others who have, albeit briefly, played in Gong include Bill Bruford, Brian Davison, Don Cherry, and Chris Cutler.

Osada Vida – „Sky Full Of Dreams” video clip now on YouTube // download link for radio!

Osada Vida, one of the most interesting Polish bands on the rock/metal scene, return this Autumn with their fifth studio album. "The After-Effect" has been officially released in Europe today. Fans from North America have to wait until December, 2nd (via MVD).

Today the band reveal the second track from the new album. The official video for "Sky Full Of Dreams" can be seen in this location: http://youtu.be/J84UHwUKwcw

Osada Vida is one of the most interesting Polish bands on the prog-rock/metal scene. Their discography includes three demos and four well received official releases - "Three Seats Behind a Triangle" (2006/2007), "The Body Parts Party" (2008), "Uninvited Dreams" (2009) and "Particles" (2013). Their albums feature elaborately beautiful music in the vein of Yes, Porcupine Tree, Pain Of Salvation and Riverside. In July 2012, Osada Vida released their first live DVD entitled "Where The Devils Live" featuring the recording of their live appearance at the Wyspianski Theater in Katowice, Poland. In 2012 the band debuted in a new improved line-up - they have added a new vocalist Marek Majewski, previously known from the band Acute Mind. In Autumn 2013 the band replaced guitarist Bartek Bereska with young and talented musician – Jan Mitoraj. In Summer 2014 drummer Adam Podzimski left the band and his place was taken by Marek Romanowski. Their brand new, fifth studio album entitled "The After-Effect" brings surprises. One of them is a guest appearance of a string quartet. Osada Vida comment: "…there's no need to worry that the album will turn out excessively poetic or romantic, as the string parts serve rather to infuse the songs with heaviness and incredible energy. So far, it sounds terrific!"

THE SAFETY FIRE launch acoustic reworking of 'Wise Hands'

Following a busy summer of festivals, The Safety Fire have been hard at work writing for their third studio album. However the band have also been experimenting with some different arrangements of songs from last years 'Mouth Of Swords', and now they are pleased to reveal a beautiful, acoustic reworking of the track 'Wise Hands'. Beardfish announce release of new album '+4626-COMFORTZONE'

Swedish progressive rockers Beardfish have been hard at work on the follow-up to 2013's 'The Void', and now they are pleased to reveal that their brand new eighth studio album, '+4626-COMFORTZONE' will be released in North America on the 27th of January 2015.

The band had this to say about the new album: "The comfort zone is the invisible protective suit of negative thinking, almost like an entity of itself. It's been with you since birth: your parents and your teachers and your friends and your neighbours all teaching you the way the world works - this is how it is and will be and there's nothing you can do about it. The negative vibe is like a voice living inside of you, a companion through life. With time you start to like that voice and the place it takes you to: your comfort zone. I'm so sick and tired of it and I want to address it and maybe in that way start to work my way out of it".

The full track-listing for the album is as follows:

1.  The One Inside Part 1 - Noise In The Background
2.  Hold On
3.  Comfort Zone
4.  Can You See Me Now
5.  King
6.  The One Inside Part 2 - My Companion Throughout Life
7.  Daughter Whore
8.  Ode To The Rock 'N' Roller
9.  If We Must Be Apart (A Love Story Continued)
10.  The One Inside Part 3 - Relief

Look out for more information in the coming weeks!

Jack Bruce at Rockpalast with Ginger Baker, Bernie Worrell, Gary Moore, + more

Jack Bruce "Rockpalast: The 50th Birthday Concerts"

with Ginger Baker, Bernie Worrell, Gary Moore, Clem Clempson, Mary Reilley, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Simon Phillips, Gary Husband and more

Available on Special Edition DVD/CD, CD/DVD Digipack, DVD,

and Digital Formats on December 2nd

Watch "Sunshine of Your Love" at RollingStone.com

It was a late 50th birthday present. Born on May 14th 1943, John Symon Asher (aka Jack Bruce) greeted his notable friends on stage on November 2nd and 3rd 1993 at the E-Werk in Cologne. The Scottish bassist from Bishopbriggs had invited long time companions such as drummer Ginger Baker, saxophonist Dick Heckstall-Smith and guitarist Clem Clempson. The enthusiastic audience had the opportunity to congratulate him with an extraordinary celebration.

In a unique session, Bruce and guests drummer Simon Phillips and pianist Bernie Worrell celebrated jazz, rock, and blues highlights from the holy Cream days as well as songs which Jack had released on his solo records. From Willie Dixon's classic "Spoonful" to the magical ballad "Ships in the Night" with singer Maggie Reilly, the interpretations are distinguished by a rare talent for improvisation and intensity. No one had ever experienced "Sunshine of Your Love" in such an opulent arrangement before: brass instruments, percussions and keyboards. In contrast to this was the intimate "Running Thru Our Hands" with pianist Gary Husband.

In this spectrum the extraordinary talent of the multi-instrumentalist, composer, and singer Jack Bruce, who brought his bass to the front row as a solo instrument, can be seen. This ability had made him stand out when he played in other bands with Alexis Korner, John Mayall, and Manfred Mann at the beginning of the 60s, before forming Cream in 1966. He advanced to become the most important writer in this trio with songs like "I feel Free," "Politician," and "White Room," which originated from the collaboration with lyricist Pete Brown. This is the first time "White Room" has been released in this version.

The late guitarist Gary Moore also performed on one night, stepping in for Eric Clapton he was truly more than a substitute. The performance at the "Rocklife" concert with Ginger Baker resulted in the 1994 studio album "Around The Next Dream". Other highlights from the birthday bash include the epic "Bird Alone" and "Theme For An Imaginary Western" from Jack Bruce's first 1969 solo album "Songs for a Tailor." This Cologne performance shows an impressive width of a remarkable career. The fantastic lineup underlines the meaning and the value of the two November 1993 evenings Jack Bruce presented.

This box set includes songs which until now have been lying dormant in the WDR archive, adding alternative versions of some songs performed at the concerts. The exuberant "Blues You Can't Lose" as well as the acoustic "Rope Ladder to the Moon" are also to be seen here for the first time. This recording is a legacy of an extraordinary musician, who effortlessly transformed the world by not conforming to one genre and switching between jazz, rock, blues and classical music. He worked with elements of all genres in his music, performed with pianist Carla Bley, conductor Eberhard Schoener and with rock guitarist Leslie West.

"The bass made my life easier; I love it," said Bruce in a Rocklife interview. But now his instrument has fallen silent and another Cream reunion like that in 2005 is no longer possible. The composer, multi-instrumentalist and singer passed away on October 25, 2014 of cancer. His "Life on Earth" ended too soon, but for his fans the charismatic soloist will forever remain a phenomenon in the popular music scene.

Pain of Salvation - Debut first track for "Falling Home" acoustic release

Pain of Salvation - Debut first track for

 "Falling Home" acoustic release European

pre-order start!

Swedish progressive rock innovators Pain of Salvation have recently announced their much anticipated acoustic album, "Falling Home", to be released in Europe on November 10th, 2014 and on January 13th, 2015 in North America via the band's longtime label partner InsideOutMusic.

A first track off "Falling Home" is now being launched promotionally on the website of UK's Prog Magazine. Check out the acoustic version of "Linoleum" here:

Pain of Salvation's Daniel Gildenlöw has checked in about the release as follows:
"Damn, it will be so nice finally to have this album see the light of day in a context larger than my head, our rehearsing room and a multitude of work computers and hard drives in selected homes. It has been a long time, and the road to release has been very complicated and unexpected, including finding myself in hospital for four entire months after a close call with flesh eating bacteria. Who would have guessed as we set out to record a quick little acoustic something all those many months ago in what seems like another lifetime by now? On the other hand, it has turned this album into so much more than we ever expected it to be. I find the term "acoustic album" very misleading. This album is as bold a statement as any of our albums, and will in the same way offer laughter, tears, surprises and challenges. If it's not original, if it's not uncompromisingly passionate, then it's not Pain of Salvation."

And Gildenlöw commented about the track "Linoleum" in particular as follows:
"I love the versatility of this animal, and I keep dragging it into different contexts to see how it will adapt and respond. In other words, this track was a given when we started discussing an acoustic project, and probably the first one I sat down with to rearrange. I have always loved to play around with the emotional spectrum of suppressed rage in music and lyrics, and making this song acoustic called for even higher levels of challenge when it came to finding that perfect balance of dialed down subtlety and sudden bursts of emotional display. I love how it came out in the end. An agile predator. Let's invent a word today: Pantheresque."

"Falling Home" is a very special album, which contains reimagined versions of favorite catalog songs, two cover versions ("Holy Diver" by Dio and "Perfect Day" by Lou Reed) and a brand new song (The title track, "Falling Home"). Here is the track-listing for the standard version of the release:

Pain of Salvation - "Falling Home":
1. Stress
2. Linoleum
3. To The Shoreline
4. Holy Diver
5. 1979
6. Chain Sling
7. Perfect Day
8. Mrs. Modern Mother Mary
9. Flame To The Moth
10. Spitfall
11. Falling Home

Next to the Jewel Case CD and the Digital Download formats, "Falling Home" will be also available in Europe as limited edition Digipak CD with expanded artwork and two bonus tracks ("She Likes To Hide" and "King Of Loss") and also as limited Gatefold LP version on 180gr. The US Jewel Case CD will include the bonus tracks as well, for 13 songs total.

European customers can pre-order "Falling Home" from the InsideOut Shop here:

Exlibris – check out the first single from “Aftereal” album! //download link to mp3

Exlibris, the heavy metal sensation from Poland, return this Autumn with the third studio album entitled "Aftereal". The release date is scheduled for December, 1st in Europe and January, 13th 2015 in North America (via MVD). The band are sure to surprise their fans this time around, also because of the many outstanding guest musicians featured on the album, Evergrey's Tom Englund being one of them!

The official lyric video for track "The Day Of Burning" is now available on YouTube in this location: http://youtu.be/zd30lArQdaQ

Piotr Sikora comments: "'The Day Of Burning' was one of the first songs we wrote for the album  and at the same time a good example of how 'Aftereal' differs from 'Humagination'. Instead of a typical heavy-metal song we chose to  focus on a more complex formula, full of interesting rythmic patterns.  One of the solos in this song was performed by Zbigniew Wodecki - a  legendary Polish violinist, trumpeter and singer who had never had  anything to with metal before but proved that he could easily perform in any style of music."

In the end, the line-up of guest musicians became quite impressive – apart from Zbigniew Wodecki,  the album also features: Tom Englund (Evergrey), Piotr "Dziki" Chancewicz (Wild Pig, Mech), Piotr Rutkowski (Corruption) and Michał Staszkun (Hate). Exlibris's drummer comments: "We're extremely satisfied about that lineup, as every single guest performer did his absolute best, and every one of them did it in their own style, making the album even more diversified. I shudder at the thought of who we might be inviting on our next album."

Cat. no.: MMP CD 0746 DG
Barcode: 5907785038615
Format: CD DG
Genre:  Heavy Metal
Release date: 01.12.2014 Europe / 13.01.2015 USA

Tracklist:

1. The Continuum
2. Escape Velocity
3. The Day Of Burning
4. In The Darkest Hour
5. Omega Point
6. Before The Storm
7. King Of The Pit
8. Darker Than Black
9. Closer
10. False Messiah
11. The Mental Crusade
12. Suspended Animation

The recordings took place at ZED Studio. The vocal parts were recorded at HZ Studio, where the band's previous album "Humagination" was recorded. The mix and mastering were handled by Tomek Zalewski.

The band was formed in late 2003 by Daniel Lechmański and Piotr Sikora. Their first studio album "Skyward" from  2006 received quite good reviews. Over the next few years, the bands struggled with line-up changes within the rhythm section, but continued to create music and to play occasional concerts. In the meantime, Daniel Lechmański joined Chain Reaction and recorded three albums with them. Also, Piotr Sikora is a member of Leash Eye since 2009. In January 2012 the band started to record their second album - "Humagination". During the recording time, it turned out that their vocalist Marcin will not be able to complete the recordings. Krzysztof Sokołowski aka Mistress of the Night  became their new frontman. As a result, the recordings ended in early 2013. Their new album "Aftereal"  is scheduled for release in late Autumn 2014. The title "Aftereal" reflects the album's atmosphere and lyrics, and there was complete agreement in the band about that choice. The keyboard player Piotr Sikora comments, "Just like it was with 'Humagination', there's a certain leitmotif in the lyrics, which refers to the album's title. They describe realities other than our own - from nightmares, through some kind of fantasy, to the so-called netherworld."

Exlibris - lineup:
Krzysztof Sokołowski - vocals
Daniel Lechmański - guitars, vocals
Piotr Sikora - keys, orchestration, programming, vocals
Piotr Torbicz - bass
Misiek Ślusarski - drums

Pain of Salvation - Debut video clip for "1979" off acoustic album "Falling Home"

The release date for the much anticipated acoustic album "Falling Home" by Swedish progressive rock innovators Pain of Salvation via the band's longtime label partner InsideOutMusic is drawing closer.
Here are the exact street days by territory:

GERMANY / AUSTRIA / SWITZERLAND / FINLAND: Friday, November 07, 2014.
UK / BENELUX / FRANCE / GREECE / DENMARK / PORTUGAL / NORWAY / REST OF EUROPE: Monday, November 10, 2014.
ITALY / SPAIN / POLAND: Tuesday, November 11, 2014.
SWEDEN: Wednesday, November 12, 2014.
AUSTRALIA / NEW ZEALAND: Friday, November 14, 2014.
NORTH AMERICA: Tuesday, January 13, 2015

Now, the atmospheric video clip directed by Stefan Daniels for the song "1979" has been launched online at the following location: http://youtu.be/QiZh2fh_1Rk

Pain of Salvation's Daniel Gildenlöw has checked in as follows about the clip:

"We had the greatest time shooting this video. We went up north to an old fisher village where Johanna's family has rented old fisher cabins in the summers since her father was a little child. I have spent time there with her since we met twenty years ago and I love the place. No phones, no television, just the ocean and nature and these old cabins. It seemed the perfect place to shoot the video for '1979.' So, we spent a few days there, the entire band with families and Johanna's sisters and their families, and we just had a wonderful time together. I remember standing in the store Googling beer brands to find out which bottles had remained most the same since the 70s, hahaha.

We had many scripted scenes that we shot but that never ended up in the final video - some nude bathing and Ragnar jumping into the water with his clothes on from a row boat. In the end Stefan Daniels (the director) decided to go with the small gestures and made Sandrian and his kite be the heart of the video, which was a perfect decision.

My favorite clips are probably the ones at the breakfast table in the cabin and the one in front of the cinema, simply because, to me, they capture the air of the late 70s so perfectly, as I knew them. It almost hurts to watch those clips, and I'm close to tearing up every time. My intellect knows perfectly well that these are new recordings, but my heart connects at a split second and breaks from the loss of an era."

An audio stream of the track can be heard here:

Previously, "Linoleum" was launched online as first promotional taster for "Falling Home" here:

Pain of Salvation's Daniel Gildenlöw has checked in about the "Falling Home" release as follows:

"Falling Home" is a very special album, which contains reimagined versions of favorite catalog songs, two cover versions ("Holy Diver" by Dio and "Perfect Day" by Lou Reed) and a brand new song (The title track, "Falling Home"). Here is the track-listing for the US version of the release:

Alastor welcome new members!

After a short break, the thrash metal musicians from the band Alastor return in a new lineup. The period of silence in the ranks of that legendary band turned out to bring about some very constructive results and we'll soon have a chance to hear the band's new musicians at concerts. Right now, most intense rehearsals are being held with the guitarist Piotr Szoszkiewicz and the bassist Mariusz "Metys" Matusiak, formerly performing in the band AHAJA. Both bands had played together on a number of occasions and, today, these two musicians have been invited to cooperate with Alastor. Soon, we'll have a chance to check out the results of this cooperation.

Alastor – Mariusz, Piotr

The latest album released by the legendary Alastor, "Out of Anger", was released back in 2012. It was their first release after the new singer, Michał "Mish" Jarski, joined their ranks. The album is comprised of 8 modern thrash metal songs, which were recorded at ZED Studio. The band was formed in 1986 and has a well-established position on the Polish metal scene.

New information on the band coming soon!

The thrash metal band Alastor was formed in 1986 in Kutno, Poland and through the years they have become a legend. The band has an established position on the Polish metal scene – their previous studio albums were appreciated by fans and critics alike. Their debut album from 1989, entitled „Syndroms of the Cities", was recorded in the following line-up: Sławomir Bryłka  (drums), Mariusz Matuszewski (guitars), Grzegorz Frydrysiak (bass), Waldemar Osiecki (guitars) and Robert Stankiewicz(vocals). The album was originally released on vinyl by the Italian label Metalmaster. Their sophomore album "Destiny" was recorded in 1990 but it was never released. The year 1994 brought their next album "Zło" (LoudOut Records). In the following years, the band managed to record two more albums („Żyj, gnij i milcz" in 1997, „Spaaazm" in 2005). In 2010, the band underwent some line-up changes. In the new, improved line-up the band recorded their new material „Out of Anger".  In September 2012 Metal Mind Productions re-issued Alastor's first two albums - the material was remastered and released in a limited digipack edition.
In 2014 the band return in a new line-up and hopefully with a new material. More details to be confirmed soon.
