On November, 14th Metal Mind Productions will release of the second studio album by the Polish stoner rock/metal band Leash Eye. The album entitled "V.I.D.I" features 10 tracks whose titles are associated with 'road movies'. And today you can listen to the first track promoting this release. "Trucker Song" is available on Metal Mind Productions' page on Soundcloud.
Leash Eye was founded by three friends, playing for their own enjoyment. As their musical goal, the band decided to follow the same road as the one chosen by Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Kyuss, Tool, Illusion, and Spiritual Beggars. In March 1999, the band recorded 5 songs, which were featured on their promo CD. The change of the lead singer in 2003 triggered also a change of their style - these days Leash Eye stands for melodious hard rock of the 70's, accompanied by heavy, modern sounds and classic vocals. In Autumn 2009, Leash Eye's debut album "V.E.N.I", featuring guest appearance of Riverside's Michał Łapaj on the Hammond organ, sees the light of day. The album met with the acclaim of both the critics and the listeners. The year 2010 is marked by intense work on new songs, which are to be included on the band's new full-length album. Ultimately, 10 out of 13 compositions are chosen and, in the beginning of 2011, the band enter Sound Division Studio in Warsaw to record their 2nd album "V.I.D.I.", with Behemoth's Orion as the producer and Vesania's Heinrich as sound engineer.
The year 2011 is, so far, definitely the most successful year in Leash Eye's career. They win Antyradio's competition and, as the result, their right to perform at Sonisphere Festival next to Motorhead and Iron Maiden. Also, they represent Poland at Wacken Open Air festival, where they perform as the winners of Polish edition of Wacken Metal Battle.
And still the best is yet to come. Their second full studio album "V.I.D.I." will be released by Metal Mind Productions on the 14th of November in Europeand 10th of January 2012 in USA (via MVD). The album features 10 tracks whose titles are associated with 'road movies'.

NEARfest Apocalypse 2012 Lineup Announced

In order to commemorate the final NEARfest in 2012, we have worked hard to bring together the best possible lineup for the progressive rock community. Featuring outstanding newer bands and legendary artists from across diverse progressive music subgenres, we hope that we can provide a wonderful weekend of musical memories to last a lifetime. We hope you can join us at the Zoellner Arts Center, Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania next June, for the NEARfest Apocalypse!

The NEARfest Apocalypse Lineup:

Friday June 22, 2012
Aranis (Belgium)
Van der Graaf Generator (UK)

Saturday June 23, 2012
Helmet of Gnats (USA)
Twelfth Night (UK)
Änglagård (Sweden)
Renaissance (UK/USA)

Sunday June 24, 2012
Gösta Berlings Saga (Sweden)
Il Tempio delle Clessidre (Italy)
Mike Keneally Band (USA)
Eloy (Germany)

Aranis is a world-class acoustic chamber rock ensemble led by upright bassist and composer Joris Vanvickenroye. Featuring interlocked bass, violin, flute, accordion, and piano lines, Aranis' evocative music stirs the mind and spirit alike. They have toured extensively throughout Europe, including notable appearances at the renowned Gouveia Art Rock and RIO Festivals. Their latest album Roqueforte (AltRock) expands their musical palette through the addition of drummer extraordinaire Dave Kerman, who will be joining Aranis for their NEARfest set. NEARfest will represent the USA debut for Aranis. http://www.aranis.be

Van der Graaf Generator has been an iconic musical and lyrical force since its inception in the late 1960s. Since their reunion in 2005 and reconstitution as a trio soon thereafter, Peter Hammill, Guy Evans, and Hugh Banton have produced vital, engaging, and visceral new music that has magnified the band's influential oeuvre. They have toured worldwide for the past six years, including their first USA appearance in 33 years, at NEARfest in 2009. On the strength of their stunning new release A Grounding in Numbers, Van der Graaf Generator will once again storm North America with a vengeance. We are deeply honored that Van der Graaf Generator will be returning to the Zoellner stage as the headline act for the first day of the final NEARfest event. http://www.vandergraafgenerator.co.uk/ and http://www.sofasound.com

Helmet of Gnats is without question one of the United States' finest progressive fusion groups. This ensemble from Connecticut has been active for well over a decade, honing their craft by recording three albums with audiophile production standards and playing numerous prog festival gigs. Helmet of Gnats ply diverse influences from Happy the Man and Bruford to Jeff Beck and ELP into a refreshing, melodic, yet challenging instrumental stew. They will certainly kick the second day of the NEARfest Apocalypse off to a rousing start. http://www.helmetofgnats.com

Twelfth Night was a vanguard of the British `neo-prog' scene in the early 1980s. Mixing rock, classical, and punk vibes with dramatic vocals and incisive lyrics, Twelfth Night attracted a significant following in the UK and beyond. Twelfth Night has always been renowned for its engaging multi-media stage show, focused at first on the enigmatic vocalist Geoff Mann, and now the equally powerful Andy Sears. The band has seen a rebirth in the new millennium and has toured throughout the British Isles and European continent to wide acclaim. Twelfth Night will be making their USA debut at NEARfest. http://www.twelfthnight.info

Änglagård is perhaps the seminal band hailing from the progressive rock revival in the 1990s. Combining influences from romantic and modern classical, 1970s symphonic rock, and Scandinavian folk music with prodigious compositional skill and emotional depth, Änglagård produced Hybris and Epilog, two epic albums considered essential to any progressive music collection. They are currently writing and recording an eagerly awaited third opus. They were the first band confirmed for the NEARfest Apocalypse, as plans took shape back in the spring. Änglagård will be commemorating the final NEARfest with a unique set list including a performance of its classic Hybris album in its entirety. http://www.anglagard.net

Renaissance is a legendary and beloved ensemble in the progressive symphonic rock world and beyond, led by acoustic guitarist and composer Michael Dunford and the inimitable, expressive soprano vocalist Annie Haslam. Renaissance has won legions of fans through the generations by seamlessly fusing classical, folk, and rock textures with memorable melodies and lyrics in timeless songs such as "Mother Russia" and "Ashes are Burning". Recently returned to active duty after a long hiatus, Renaissance has toured East Coast venues and has been actively writing and recording new music. We are most honored to bring Renaissance to the NEARfest stage for a well-deserved and long-awaited headline performance. http://www.renaissancetouring.com

Gösta Berlings Saga is a quartet from Sweden who produce a hypnotic instrumental amalgam of post-rock, folk, progressive rock, minimalism, avant-rock, found sound and more, all recorded and combined with unusual and interesting studio techniques. Named after one of the most notable Swedish books of all time, Gösta Berlings Saga are gaining notoriety world-wide, as evidenced by many European concert invitations and their recent signing to the Cuneiform label. Gösta Berlings Saga's concert to open the third day of the NEARfest Apocalypse will be sure to win them more new fans and even wider notoriety within the progressive music scene. http://www.gostaberlingssaga.se

Il Tempio delle Clessidre is the perfect marriage of the newer and older Italian progressive rock scenes. Led by multi-keyboardist and composer Elisa Montaldo, all of the instrumentalists in Il Tempio delle Clessidre belong to the younger generation. Up front on lead vocals is Stefano `Lupo' Galifi, formerly the lead singer of the legendary Italian progressive outfit Museo Rosenbach. Il Tempio's self-titled debut is a magnum opus of stirring compositions and virtuoso playing anchored by Galifi's strident yet sensitive baritone voice. We are very pleased that Il Tempio delle Clessidre will be making their American debut at the NEARfest Apocalypse. http://www.myspace.com/iltempiodelleclessidre

Mike Keneally is an influential American guitarist, singer, multi-instrumentalist, and composer who initially began his professional career in earnest with the Frank Zappa band in the late 1980s. Since that time he has produced many albums of intelligent, diverse, eclectic, and engaging music, tilting from the sublime to the ridiculous and back and everywhere in between. Recently Mike has been manning the keyboards for Joe Satriani, and has been part of the touring Dethklok band borne out of the popular Metalocalypse cartoon series. Anyone in attendance will never forget the Mike Keneally Band's first performance at NEARfest 2004, or Mike's encore turn as a human jukebox with note-perfect encyclopedic prog knowledge at that year's after-party. We are delighted to bring the Mike Keneally Band back East to participate in the festivities of the NEARfest Apocalypse. http://www.keneally.com

Eloy is without question Germany's most famous progressive rock band, with career-spanning sales well over two million units and a long history dating back to the early 1970s including 17 studio albums. Eloy is beloved to several generations of progressive rock fans via their signature spacey symphonic sound anchored in layers of multi-keyboard virtuosity, pulsating bass lines, and soaring guitar solos, melded with distinctive vocals and cosmic, emotionally resonant lyrics. After a decade-long hiatus, Eloy has made a grand return to active duty with new recordings and splendid European concerts. We are extremely honored that Eloy will be making its very long-awaited American concert debut as the final act in the history of NEARfest. http://www.eloy-legacy.com

Please visit the official NEARfest website at http://www.nearfest.com for ticket, advertisting, and vending information. The NEARfest Patron Program will begin on Saturday November 12, 2011.

BASICK RECORDS welcomes BLOTTED SCIENCE to the family!

BASICK RECORDS is more than a little bit excited to announce that the legendary BLOTTED SCIENCE have joined their ever growing family of forward thinking and progressive metal acts!

Ron Jarzombek, guitarist and evil genius behind BLOTTED SCIENCE commented:
"I'm really excited to be partnering with Barley and the Basick Records crew on the new BLOTTED SCIENCE record, 'The Animation of Entomology'. They are a young, exciting company on the cutting edge, whose roster is very much compatible with what BLOTTED SCIENCE is all about, so I feel like this will be a great home for us. BASICK label owner Barley, also comments:
"Having been a huge admirer of Ron's output for a number of years, it gives me great pleasure to welcome BLOTTED SCIENCE to the family! I can't wait to get this record out to all our dedicated fans in Europe!"

The ANABASIS, Featuring Ryo Okumoto, Release Debut CD, BACK FROM BEING GONE, on 10T Records

Charleston, SC – October 24, 2011  (10T Records) - 10T Records is thrilled to announce the pending release of the full length debut concept CD by The ANABASIS, entitled Back From Being Gone, on November 22, 2011, with an official street date of January 17, 2012.

The ANABASIS is a progressive rock collaboration project, conceived by USA multi-instrumentalist and composer, Barry Thompson, with lyrics by noted professional author, George Andrade, who is also Executive Producer. A group of extraordinarily talented musicians were recruited from all over the world to take part in the project.  The premise was to provide a basic framework for the songs and then to allow the musicians to play their parts with their own style and sound.

This amazing lineup of musicians and vocalists on Back From Being Gone make up a "who's who" of some of the world's top tier players in the progressive rock and progressive metal universe.  In addition to Barry on guitar, bass and keyboards, The ANABASIS features internationally renowned virtuoso musician Ryo Okumoto (Spock's Beard) as primary keyboardist and arranger.

The band is further rounded out by Per Fredrik "PelleK" Åsly (Damnation Angels) on lead vocals, Gerald "Mully" Mulligan (The Lee Abraham Band) on drums, Gordon Tittsworth (Images of Eden, All Too Human) on lead and backing vocals, Lee Abraham (Lee Abraham Band) on bass, Stefan Artwin (Relocator) on lead guitar, plus a host of other special guests, too numerous to list.  Lee Abraham also serves as producer/mixer for the release.

Back From Being Gone is a stunner that melds classic progressive rock and metal into a tasty whole, with 3 epic tracks including the massive closing track, which clocks in at 24 minutes.  The concept behind the CD is from the mind of George Andrade, who uses this musical tapestry to weave a sweeping sociopolitical narrative based on 3 ancient civilizations – the Roman, the Norse, and the Egyptian.

"George and I are both humbled and thrilled to have been given the opportunity to join the 10t records family," says Barry. "To have been invited to take our place among such an impressive roster of progressive rock artists- especially alongside our friends Mars Hollow - is beyond our wildest dreams.  We look forward to a mutually beneficial partnership filled with fun times and great music!"

"We were immediately taken with the scope and scale of Back From Being Gone when we heard it," says 10T Records President, Steve Carroll.  "The level of imagination and ambition is truly inspiring, and the musicianship is stellar."

Back From Being Gone by The ANABASIS is available for immediate pre-order through the 10T Records website.  All orders received between now and the direct release sale date of November 22nd will ship by the end of the week prior to the release.

Additionally, all tracks from Back From Being Gone are now available to preview in their entirety on The ANABASIS artist page at 10T Records: http://10trecords.com/artists/genres/progressive-experimental/the-anabasis/the-anabasis-discography/

Ozric Tentacles – Paper Monkeys, the new studio album from our UK festival friends. The latest signing to Snapper’s Madfish Music label.

Paper Monkeys is the new studio album from UK underground legends, Ozric Tentacles is now available. It is the band's follow-up to 2009's The Yum Yum Tree.

That album proved that despite being over 25 years into their career the band were still a force to be reckoned with, Classic Rock Prog  stating: 'there are enough moments of brilliance here to make this the best thing the band have committed to tape since Jurassic Shift in 1993.'  During this long career, the band has flourished through a number of line-up changes, spawned several side projects (including Eat Static and Nodens Ictus), created their own record label (Dovetail & Stretchy), put out close to 25 albums, scored a hit record and sold over a million albums world-wide.

And yet, the basic motivation behind the band's existence has never wavered.Their signature blend of hippy aesthetics and raver electronics with spiralling guitars, textured waves of keyboard and midi samplers, and super groovy bass and drum rhythms continues to delight fans across the world to this day..One of the most influential bands to emerge from the UK's festival scene, the Ozrics layer ambient and ethereal landscapes with freeform dub trips, incredible rave grooves and psychedelic progressive rock. It's an open exploration of music and the soul.Paper Monkeys is available on CD, double LP and download.

The Paper Monkeys mini-site has order links along with audio samples, a new video, downloads and more. The site also offers a free MP3 download of the title track from the album. www.madfishmusic.com/ozrictentacles/papermonkeys

Their enduring appeal is affirmed every¬where from Rock Band to Tony Soprano's musical daydreams on HBO's The Sopranos, from Broadway's Rock Of Ages to FOX's Family Guy. Most notably, the cast of Glee celebrated Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" on the series premiere episode of 2009. The kids later paid homage with three songs on 2010's Journey to Regionals ("Faithfully," the medley of "Any Way You Want It / Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'," and the new Regionals version of "Don't Stop Believin'").

When asked about his experience in the remastering back to vinyl of the original recordings of the Journey Greatest Hits and the new GREATEST HITS VOL. 2, Steve Perry replied, "I truly forgot how sonically exciting and just plain better these Journey tracks sound back where they originally lived…on Vinyl. The stereo separation, the center imaging and the sonic depth of the tracks themselves is more true to what we all loved about these original final mixes. All the instruments and voices, to me personally, sound so damn good that all I want to do is reach for the volume and turn it up!"

"I'm very excited to be releasing this compilation," said Neal Schon. "Many of these songs were written in our earlier days by Steve Perry and myself, and hearing them again brings back great memories. "Little Girl" has an extra special meaning for me because it's one of the songs my father, who worked with us for many years, worked on with us. All our songs have stood the test of time, and I hope our fans will enjoy this collection."

Jonathan Cain added, "Escape was my first album with Journey in 1981 and I never looked back. A lot of the songs in those days were in pieces -- like a puzzle to figure out. The connection we had was magic - and like a Super Bowl team - we always found a way to get it right."

Covering 18 central years in the Journey saga, GREATEST HITS VOL. 2 includes tracks from the band's fourth album, Infinity (1978), produced by Roy Thomas Baker, which marked the entry of Steve Perry's distinctive lead vocals into the lineup ("Feeling That Way," "Anytime," "Patiently").

Their next album, Evolution (1979) was also produced by Baker and features "Just The Same Way". Departure (1980) was the first of seven consecutive studio albums by Journey to reach the Top 10, and platinum or multi-platinum, over the next 16 years ("Walks Like A Lady," "Good Morning Girl," "Stay Awhile").

One of the cornerstone bands in radio's new Album Rock format, Journey's popularity was so overwhelming that they were able to release a single from their double-LP concert set, Captured (1981). "The Party's Over (Hopelessly In Love)" broke inside the Top 40, and was the #2 song on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart.

Journey's hold on the charts continued with Escape (1981), the band's first #1 album. Escape spent nearly three years on Billboard's Top 200 chart and produced four hit singles - "Who's Crying Now," "Don't Stop Believin'," "Open Arms" (all on Greatest Hits) and "Still They Ride" along with the rock staples, "Stone In Love," "Mother, Father" and the title track "Escape" (all on GREATEST HITS VOL. 2).

Escape was produced by Mike Stone (Queen, Kiss, America and others) and Kevin Elson, who went on to produce the next album, Frontiers (1983). Frontiers ("After The Fall," "Chain Reaction") debuted the week before Michael Jackson's Thriller hit #1 – thus the LP had the distinction of being one of many albums to occupy the #2 spot (for nine weeks) during Thriller's reign at the top.

Raised On Radio was released in 1986, featuring an assortment of top studio musicians including noted jazz-funk-R&B bassist Randy Jackson (of American Idol) who went on to tour with Journey through 1987. Raised On Radio was another double-platinum album for Journey, spending 67 weeks on the album chart, and spinning off the Top 20 hit "Suzanne."

In 1992, Journey became one of the first American rock bands to release a deluxe multi-CD box set, Time3. Comprised mostly of hit singles and key album tracks from the band's first dozen albums, Time3 also contained a number of previously unreleased tracks and rarities. Among these was "Little Girl," from the original motion picture soundtrack of Dream After Dream, an obscure foreign film whose entire score was performed by Journey, issued on Columbia in 1980.

A Journey reunion took place in the '90s, and the recording of Trial By Fire (1996) was the result, with Steve Perry, Neal Schon, Jonathan Cain, Ross Valory, and Steve Smith all on-board for their first album together since Frontiers. Featuring "When I Think Of You," Trial By Fire rose to #3 and continued Journey's platinum streak.
GREATEST HITS VOL. 2 wraps up with a live concert version of "Mother, Father" - a highlight of Live In Houston 1981 - Escape Tour, a Columbia/Legacy archive release in 2005 which featured both video and audio versions of the same 75-minute program.

As Rolling Stone contributing editor David Wild wrote, "Whether on the radio or on some stage, these well-built tunes remain sturdy crowd pleasers to this very day, in their second century of airplay. Some DJ is playing a Journey song some¬where right now and many more are out there singing along – you can bet on it."

FABIO ZUFFANTI - I WILL NEVER DO COVER VERSIONS! FREE DOWNLOAD EP

Fabio Zuffanti plays Robert Wyatt, Alan Sorrenti, Franco Battiato, Pink Floyd.

Download it on: http://soundcloud.com/cestd/sets/fabio-zuffanti-i-will-never-do

This EP is a small free gift to those who kindly follow me for years. It contains six cover versions of songs by artists I respect and who have influenced my musical and human path; Robert Wyatt, Alan Sorrenti,   Franco Battiato, Pink Floyd. The songs have been recorded in different periods of my life, from 1998 to 2011. Some in a professional studio, some in my small home studio. Apart from the first two, already appeared in compilations by Mellow Records, the others are previously unreleased. I hope I manage to convey the sense of warmth and love that it took me to sing and play.

The ironic title of the EP is one of my sentence about doing cover versions. Never trust people who say 'I will never do ....'

After… listen to the first track taken from their forthcoming album

“No Attachments” – a brand new studio album by one of the best progressive rock bands from Poland, After… - will be released by  Metal Mind Productions on November, 21st (in US on December, 6th). And today you can listen to the first promo track “Enchanted” in THIS location.

Wojtek Tymiński: “It’s one of the quieter songs on the album. This was the last song written for the album. The idea came up in my head but I thought that this would be another piece left for the unknown future. At the beginning the track was circling between us in the version which I registered at home. That first version had probably more space but also less pulse. Radek  and Mariusz have added great rhythm section to my guitar idea and the song took on a completely different shape. I think this is one of the favorites pieces written by us.”

After... was formed in 2002 in Wloclawek. In November 2005, they released their debut album "Endless Lunatic", featuring guest appearances by Colin Bass (Camel), Józef Skrzek (SBB) and Jacek Zasada (Quidam). To promote the album, the band played several concerts in Poland and Western Europe, sharing the stage, among others, with Fish, Quidam, Riverside, and Sylvan. In June 2008 their second studio album "Hideout" was released. The new album was very well received both in Poland and abroad. Their third studio album “No Attachments” marks the beginning of a new exciting era in the band's career. Not only  it brings interesting arrangements and melodies but it is also being produced in cooperation with the musicians of acclaimed British act The Pineapple Thief.

SOLARIS a Bulgarian Prog Metal band and their album "Domain of Dreams"

This is the third studio release of the band (formerly known as Solaris), and features nine progressive metal compositions, all sharing poetic lyrics, aggressive and powerful guitars, lyrical breaks, and ambient orchestrations. The album is melody-driven and explores the intimate workings of the human dream machine. The concept...ual lyrics reveal the never-ending journey between the Light and the Darkness, between colorful emotions and grey trivialities. The guitar employs heavy, yet melodic sound, supported by strong and powerful rhythm section, and compounded by touching vocal lines and keyboard harmonies.

NEARfest Apocalypse to be the final edition of the festival

In 1999, the North East Art Rock Festival was started as an effort to return progressive rock music to the area where it thrived back in its heyday. In the 1970s, the Philadelphia area was a well-known hotbed of fandom for the brand of rock music featuring exemplary virtuosity. With the re-emergence of progressive music worldwide in the early `90s, festivals became a novel way to feature both new bands and re-invigorate some from the past. A few festivals had come before, namely ProgFest (CA), the ever-present ProgDay (NC), BajaProg (Mexico), and the short-lived ProgScape (MD), plus several after, but none have taken on the notoriety NEARfest had achieved. In just a few short years, NEARfest became the "most prestigious progressive rock festival in the world" and has remained so for over 12 years.

From its inception, NEARfest has strived to merge extraordinary bands from the global Prog Rock underground and the devoted community of eclectic music fans on this side of the pond. It was felt that otherwise, never would the two meet, especially en masse. This emotional combination of musical dedication has produced many a weekend of musical bliss. Ask any former attendee of the festival and you will get a different list of highlights from years past, which is validation in itself of NEARfest's dedication to a diverse lineup of Prog Rock subgenres. Favorites will range from Camel and Keith Emerson to Sleepytime Gorilla Museum and Miriodor; from Steve Hackett and Banco to Echolyn and Hidria Spacefolk; from Magma and Univers Zero to Kenso and Kraan; from Eddie Jobson and Three Friends to Cabezas de Cera and Beardfish; from Porcupine Tree and PFM to Anekdoten and Änglagård. And that's only a fraction of the over 120 bands that have performed at NEARfest to date.

And now, the time has come to complete the cycle.

2012 will mark the final edition of the North East Art Rock Festival. NEARfest has always employed a model, for right or wrong, where lineups were typically anchored by legends of the greater genre and featured a plethora of world-class bands spanning the broad range of subgenres. Part of the success of NEARfest and its rapid sellouts was its ability to attract legendary progressive bands that had played only infrequently, if ever, on the East Coast of the United States. As time has marched inexorably, it started to become clear that this headliner-centric model would not be sustainable indefinitely. Too much of a change in the model and those dedicated to attending and supporting the festival may feel that it is no longer in the spirit of NEARfest itself. Therefore, we have decided to retain the marriage of our successful model to our NEARfest brand name.

After the unfortunate events leading to the cancellation of NEARfest 2011, we could not allow the legacy of NEARfest to end with a dark and empty stage. The festival has meant too much to too many, including us, to just disappear without at least making an attempt at a joyous swan song. Therefore, since the spring of 2011, the three of us have been conspiring to put together a final NEARfest, one true to its roots and special to its faithful. We are happy to say that this will indeed happen.

NEARfest Apocalypse will be held over the weekend of June 22nd, 23rd, and 24th, 2012 at its rightful home, the Zoellner Arts Center at Lehigh University in beautiful Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. This will be a true celebration of progressive rock music as well as a "raising of the glass" to everyone who has made NEARfest so special to so many of us over the last 13 years, including our outstanding crew and production team, the wonderful staff at Zoellner, and everyone who has ever bought a ticket to NEARfest. There are plans for activities beyond the norm for the weekend, which will be detailed as the festival draws closer. For now though, we can tell you that both Roger Dean and Mark Wilkinson will be involved in the artwork for this final special event. We will also do our best to make sure that both of these fine gentlemen are in attendance.

In the coming weeks, we will announce the entire NEARfest Apocalypse lineup live on the air on the Gagliarchives radio program. The exact air date will be determined shortly and announced online NEARfest.com, our Yahoo mailing list, Facebook, Twitter, and Progressive Ears. Stay tuned!

We sincerely hope that you will join us for the final chapter of NEARfest. After all, the world ends in December 2012 anyway, right?

Most humbly,
Chad Hutchinson
Rob LaDuca
Kevin Feeley

FURYU - OPEN MINDED PROGRESSIVE

"Ciň che l'anima non dice" it's the first full length of Furyu.

The project was born in Bologna in 2000 by the meeting between Zappoli Michele (bass) and Matteo Migliori (guitar / vocals). Then the guitarists Giulio Capitelli and Federico Melandri join the band leading to most innovative and experimental musical ideas. With this line up the young band begins to record the first demos also playing live in the city's clubs. The project permanently stars, after several members changes and musical styles, in mid-2009 when the drummer Riccardo Grechi (Lacerater, Cruel Face of Life) and the sampler Damiano Storelli (Dim Arcana) joins the band. So it starts the writing and production of their first full length.
The proposed experimental progressive is lacking any sort of preconceived idea based on a defined and precise musical genre, the work of art in question is, precisely, difficult to categorize in any metal/rock context. However, the band aims to create sounds never tiring, catchy and with a good dose of technique without the risk of being boring. This was possible thanks to the different experiences and musical tastes of the band members, certainly one of the strengths of the quintet.

The album concept is based mainly on moods and human emotions. The synthetic phrases that characterize each title and song lyrics are intended to narrate the experiences of the protagonist in his own journey. Currently FURYU are ready to record in the Italian famous Fear Studio to complete their work. The idea is to create a professional product that will be taken all around the world and to make several live in Italy and Europe.

The term "FURYU", which in modern Japanese means "elegant", was used in the poems of the late Heian period (Japan, 795-1185) to represent an aristocratic and nostalgic vision of life; literally means "flowing wind and water".

Steven Wilson - 'Grace For Drowning' iPhone & iPad app now available - European tour starts this week

Grace For Drowning, the new album from Steven Wilson, was released last month on Kscope. An accompanying iPhone and iPad app has now also been launched. Steven Wilson is a twice Grammy-nominated producer, writer and performer, best known as founder and front man of British rock band Porcupine Tree. The app, which is available from the app store for free, features exclusive audio and video content only available in the app including the previously unreleased song Cut Ribbon and the video for Belle De Jour.

More exclusive content will be added as time goes on.  Steven explained the reason behind creating the app: "The making of Grace For Drowning was a big artistic step forward for me - while it has its roots in the experimental rock music of the early 70's, it's also an album which could have only been made in the 21st Century. To this end we have also embraced the best that modern technology has to offer by making the album one of the first ever to be conceived specifically for Blu-ray, which allows much higher audio resolution as well as interactive visual elements.

As a continuation of that philosophy this iPhone app allows fans to keep track of news and tour dates, but also access to audio and visual content, some of which is exclusive to the app."  The app also contains unseen artwork and photography by Lasse Hoile, Steven's long-term visual collaborator.

Lasse created a huge amount of visual content for Grace For Drowning. Lots of this has been included in the various formats of the album, including the videos on the Blu-ray edition of the album and the photos featured in the 120 page book that was part of the deluxe edition, but much of the material is as yet unused as Lasse explains: "Grace For Drowning is probably the biggest project I've worked on, from the films to the images and all the different formats it was released in. We developed over 10,000 images knowing that none of the editions could contain even a fraction of the final result. It's been a great honor and pleasure to be part of this adventure with Steven and everyone else involved and I hope all will enjoy listening and looking at GFD for many years in the future.

With this great looking app we are able to show everything we couldn't fit in the book or on the Blu-ray."  Starsdie.com, a Porcupine Tree fan site, have made a video showing the app and its various features. You can check it out at this link. Steven is just about to embark on his first solo tour and the app will be regularly updated with news, photos and audio from the tour.

The tour starts in Poland on Thursday before visiting Germany, Holland, France and the UK. A North American tour follows in November. Full details can be found on the Grace For Drowning mini-site. Lasse has created new films and multi-media content for the tour to create an immersive experience featuring material from Grace For Drowning and Steven's debut solo album, Insurgentes.

For the tour Steven will be joined by Marco Minnemann on drums, Nick Beggs on bass, Aziz Ibrahim on guitar, Adam Holzman on keyboards and Theo Travis on flute / sax.

Chickenfoot premieres new video for "Three and a Half Letters"

To coincide with the UK release of Chickenfoot's highly anticipated second album "III" (Oct 24th) and the recent announcement of two UK concerts in January 2012, this week the band have released a new video for the single "Three and a Half Letters".

Watch the video here – http://bit.ly/nCStEu  Featuring guitar hero Joe Satriani, former Van Halen vocalist Sammy Hagar and bassist Michael Anthony, and drummer Chad Smith; "Three and a Half Letters" is the second single to be taken from the band's new album. The song's poignant lyrics tackle the world's economy and current levels of unemployment. The lyrics are taken directly from letters written to Sammy Hagar, following a suggestion from his long standing manager, Carter, who sadly passed away earlier this year during the recording of the new album. "I've received letters from lots of people, mostly fans, but some people just needing help, looking for work," says Hagar.

"Carter had told me to write a song called 'I Need a Job' six months prior but the idea didn't dawn on me until I received a letter from a guy who had just returned from Afghanistan. At the end of his letter he wrote – 'Can you help? I need a job'."

Watch a podcast of the band talking about "Three and a half Letters" here – http://youtu.be/w8An5z6q5bE   Chickenfoot will perform two UK concerts in January 2012 as part of a 5-date European tour; dates include Manchester Academy (Jan 12) and London's O2 Academy Brixton on (Jan 14), followed by concerts in Paris, Tilburg and Dusseldorf.  These are the band's first European shows since July 2009, and will see them perform songs from their gold-selling eponymous debut album, alongside tracks from the new album 'III'. Tickets are available from – http://bit.ly/qs8Srm.

DOMAIN is the second CD release from progressive metal band, Oceans of Night. 3. So Near Yet So Far: 5:28

7. The View to You: 8:28

Oceans of Night released their crushing debut CD, The Shadowheart Mirror, in 2009.

Through the course of 6 CD's, multi-instrumentalist Scott Mosher has bridged the worlds of progressive metal, melodic hard rock and ambient sounds to create an experimental yet complimentary style of music that is at once as subtle as it is powerful, aggressive as it is dynamic and timeless as it is modern. Scott Oliva continues to perform in legendary NY Iron Maiden tribute band, Live After Death and The Nightmare Stage. He has also written, performed and recorded with Wind Wraith and Inner Strength. The Scott's had first worked together on Mr. Mosher's 4th CD release, Deep Horizon, in 2006.

CIRCLES unleash new video and single 'EYE EMBEDDED'

Australian progressive Metallers CIRCLES have announced they are to release their first single 'Eye Embedded' taken from their debut EP 'The Compass' on November 14th, which comes with a remix edition, 2 b-sides and an instrumental arrangement. The band will be unleashing a brand new promo video alongside the single release.

The band have also put together exclusive footage that not only chronicles the making of the video for the track but gives fans a taster of the video to come. View behind the scenes here: http://youtu.be/HIL9GCmOkOA

Comments CIRCLES drummer and video director Dave Hunter: "Shooting our first offical video was something we've always looked forward to doing. Once it was all over, we were completely drained. It's like playing a show for 10 hours straight, except your set list only consists of one song. Overall it was a great experience. So far, the response to The Compass has been quite overwhelming. Hopefully we can push it further with this video."

Since their critically acclaimed debut EP was released in May this year via Basick Records, CIRCLES have been hard at work building their profile worldwide - their studio jam video for 'Clouds are Gathering' reached the No.1 spot on Scuzz TV, reached No.3 on the Australian Metal iTunes chart, swept the review boards worldwide with praise for 'The Compass' and all whilst continuing to play countless gigs in their native homeland and begin work on their follow up record!

This might be the best new band you'll hear all year. Truly epic. - Metal Hammer.
Beyond world class. - Blunt Magazine
Circles are here to make a point. - Rock Sound Magazine
Melodies so catchy they are probably illegal in some countries. -  Terrorizer Magazine

Tracklisting for 'Eye Embedded' Single

GALAHAD New website!

As the band starts to regroup after Neil's tragic and premature passing last month, here's some news from Stu Nicholson about a new website:

"Galahad now has a new home! Same address as before - www.galahadonline.com - but a brand new website which we hope in time will become the 'definitive' Galahad resource online. Plus, for the first time, all the official Galahad releases are available for download from one site, and physical copies of most albums are also available on CD. We also hope to make a few unreleased rarities, both studio and live, available for download for the first time in due course. Feel free to have a browse and check us out!"

In another online development, a new Facebook page has been set up due to continuing hassles with the previous page caused by Facebook's incessant (and many would say ill-conceived!) tinkering behind the scenes. The new Galahad Facebook page is at:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Galahad/216667625064912

And finally, a reminder that's there's plenty to look forward to in Galaland - not one, but TWO studio albums (both of which feature Neil), and a band biography by Andrew Wild to boot!
