Dream Theater received their first-ever Grammy nomination for “On The Backs Of Angels” and Re-signs to Roadrunner!

In 2012, the band received their first-ever Grammy nomination for "On The Backs Of Angels" in the Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance category. The song was the first single from their 11th studio album, A Dramatic Turn of Events, which had 14 Top 10 debuts around the world, including the U.S., where it entered at #8 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart. 2009's Black Clouds & Silver Linings also charted strongly, debuting at #6 on the Billboard Top 200, the highest-charting record of the band's career. They have also won several awards while at Roadrunner Records including Rollingstone.com's readers' poll for "Your Favorite Prog Rock Albums of All Time" (2012), several awards from the leading Japanese rock magazine BURRN! (2012), and the "Spirit of Prog" achievement award at the 2009 Classic Rock Awards. Overall, the legendary progressive metal masters have sold in excess of 10 million records and DVDs worldwide. A powerhouse live act, they've headlined and sold out shows all over the globe.

The band commented, "We are all very excited to be re-signing with Roadrunner Records! Over the past 5 years from the release of Systematic Chaos to our latest A Dramatic Turn of Events, we've developed strong creative and professional bonds with everyone at Roadrunner as well as many great friendships along the way."

The band adds, "Roadrunner's dedication and commitment to Dream Theater has been evident to all of us from the very beginning, and is consistent in all departments and on all levels, right on through to the top. Roadrunner is a record label that is not only great at what they do but who truly understand what Dream Theater is all about as well as the amazing people who support us all around the world whom we proudly call our fans. They are a record company we relate to as an organization firmly rooted in its ideals and mission, while always pushing the envelope in an effort to keep things moving ever forward. We've reached many career defining milestones while at Roadrunner and are all incredibly pumped in anticipation of our continued future together!"

Dream Theater formed in 1985 under the name Majesty. The lineup has evolved to become John Petrucci (guitar, founding member), John Myung (bass, founding member), James LaBrie (vocals), Jordan Rudess (keyboards and continuum) and drummer Mike Mangini.

Dream Theater recently wrapped up a massive worldwide headline tour in support of A Dramatic Turn of Events and is heading back into the studio to record their next album.  The next chapter in Dream Theater's storied career begins in 2013.

Amplifier sign to Kscope – new album Echo Street coming March 11th

Kscope are pleased to announce that Echo Street, the new album from Amplifier will released on the label on March 11th 2013. The album looks set to build upon the success of The Octopus, the critically acclaimed double album that the band self-released in 2011.

Amplifier frontman Sel Balamir said of the deal, "A lot of labels have courted the upcoming Amplifier release, but Kscope were the only serious label that seems not to be stuck in the 20th Century in terms of their artist relationship. Their progressive and flexible business model seems to come as standard as opposed to an additional recoupable service".

Balamir continues, "We're looking forward to having a great team of like-minded people to work with, a focusing of ideas that we can work with in coordinating our releases and really maximising the potential of the band's increasingly prolific output".

Kscope's Johnny Wilks says of the new deal, "We have been huge admirers of the band for a good few years. So we are really looking forward to working with Amplifier and introducing them to new audiences around the world via the Kscope network. What a way to start 2013."

The deluxe two disc edition of Echo Street - packaged in a 60 page hardback book also features the new Sunriders EP, an additional record of new tracks, exclusive to this format.

The new Edenbridge's eighth studio album is called "The Bonding".

In today´s newsletter, where the new album title will be revealed, Sabine will speak about the vocal recordings.

In the past 2 to 3 weeks I was mainly busy with myself and singing, and totally tried to fall into the energies of the album. Which was not easy all the time, as it was nearly impossible for me to sing the past 2 years due to personal circumstances. So much harder the overcoming was, to prepare myself for the album, as every note and lyrical line brought me into touch with the extreme circumstances of the past years. At the same time I didn´t have the necessity to lead an inner fight - in remembrance to our video "Higher". I wanted to sing for the sake of singing and not because the next album was on the schedule. How Lanvall has succeeded in writing such an emotional album after his father commited suicide in May 2011, is highly admirable for me.

"Death is not the end" was a deeply touching song for me, cause I sung it for my grandma. She passed away in the presence of my mother and myself on my birthday in May 2012. She was a very plain and heartful being. I owe her a lot concerning my voice, as she listened to me deeply touched for hours when I was singing as a child, as if she was listening to me for the first time. After I mastered this song, I knew I had reached the entrance and now it went forward rapidly.

The title song "The Bonding" is fitting perfectly to today´s December 21 I thought and wanted to enter the studio today. But my voice thought differently :-)) cause as I was in such a good shape after a couple of hours in the studio last week, I just connected this 15 minutes song. With the attunement to today´s date of winter solstice I have sung with such an ease which surprised me myself. The world downfall "only" takes place for our fears and old dogmas and this only if we decide to trust in our lives. Anyway, a good time has started for us and we are totally happy with the recordings. I am really looking foward when you, our dear fans can hold the finished CD in your hands. Something out of our confidence and joy shall spread with our music..."

We wish you a merry christmas and a happy new year 2013 !!!

In the Midst Of His Critically Acclaimed CD Release 'Scarlet – The Director's Cut', Guitarist Dave Kilminster Performs With Roger Waters In Front Of Over Two Billion Viewers!

Guitar virtuoso Dave Kilminster, in the midst of his recently released critically acclaimed solo CD titled 'Scarlet – The Director's Cut', on December 12, 2012 performed with Roger Waters in front of over two billion viewers at the 12-12-12 benefit concert at Madison Square Garden in NYC. The largest gathering of legendary British and American rock stars in recent history, the benefit for Hurricane Sandy was by all accounts a huge success. Unquestionably, Roger Waters set was one of the highlights of the concert, featuring Dave Kilminster's impressive guitar prowess. Says Dave about this historic music event, "What a truly magical evening...sharing the stage with such musical luminaries as The Who, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Alicia Keys, Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, Chris Martin, Eric Clapton...and of course performing with Roger Waters, along with our very special guest Eddie Vedder! It was all just totally surreal, and extremely emotional... I feel so incredibly proud and honored to have taken part in such an amazing and historic event, and for such a heartfelt and worthy cause. The footage of the devastation shown during the show was heartbreaking, and as the announcers recounted tales of bravery & suffering, and introduced 1st responders, rescuers, firefighters, nurses, etc that were in attendance at the concert I was just so glad that I was there to help in my own small way."

Dave Kilminster's radical guitar techniques and mesmerizing sounds have captivated fans and fellow musicians alike worldwide. Named "Guitarist of the Year" by Guitar Magazine in 1991, the recognition propelled him on a super-charged career as a multifaceted guitarist, vocalist, writer, engineer, and producer. Credited by keyboard legend Keith Emerson for inspiring him to go on the road again, Dave is a familiar figure worldwide to fans of progressive rock. And now, his sophomore CD release 'Scarlet – The Director's Cut', has fans and critics alike raving about it's brilliance!

"Dave Kilminster has succeeded in creating one of those great documents that leaves you in wonder – not in just songs and their performances, but in the fact that as you listen, you come away with the impression that this is his soul speaking. I doubt that he could have created any other album – it's as if the music pours out of his body like a visceral entity, his life blood mixing with the ethers... These are great songs that just happen to be made of brilliant technical proficiency. Whether you are a guitar aficionado, or a casual listener, you will adore the sublime beauty of this album." - Tony Conley, Rock Guitar Daily

Fans and critics agree that Dave Kilminster is one of the most extraordinary talents to emerge from the UK. He is a sought after collaborator, band member and solo performer. After touring for a number of years with such luminaries as John Wetton, Geoff Downes, Carl Palmer, and ELP keyboard wizard Keith Emerson, in 2006 David went on the road with Pink Floyd's Roger Waters as lead guitarist and vocalist in the extraordinary global staging of 'The Dark Side of the Moon'. More recently Dave was seen atop a thirty foot wall playing guitar on Roger Waters 'The Wall - Live' tour, which became the highest grossing tour of the year, playing to over 3 million people worldwide!! Dave's work is in a class by itself, encompassing technical mastery and enormous power. His vast musical influences are strongly felt on his new album.

In closing Dave has this to impart about the 12-12-12 benefit concert, "All the bands and performers I saw absolutely played their hearts out, and did an amazing job of making it a night to remember...and I know that it's an evening that will stay with me forever..."

Vangough's "Acoustic Scars" EP now available!

The release of "Acoustic Scars" is finally upon us and we're so excited to finally bring it to you! Housed in a slick glossy jacket, the EP is now available on CD exclusively at Bandcamp and CDbaby, and digital at all online retailers. Featuring haunting arrangements of cello, violin and djembe, this five-song EP, once again mixed by long-time collaborator Sterling Winfield, serves as a chilling narrative chronicling the band's career from their 2009 debut Manikin Parade all the way up to last year's Kingdom of Ruin (Nightmare Records). A video preview of the release can be viewed on our Youtube page: www.youtube.com/watch

In keeping with the emblematic lagomorph-inspired album artwork, 100% of the proceeds will go to the local Heartland Rabbit Rescue, a place that is very familiar to us. Blending a distinct Eastern European folk flavor with hard rock roots, Acoustic Scars is a soundscape of raw emotion. Beginning with a dreary and atmospheric instrumental before segueing into the marquee track "A Song for Crows," the EP closes in celebratory fashion with the Watership Down-inspired suite "The Rabbit Chronicles." To further help raise awareness, the band has booked a number of shows at several venues in both Oklahoma and Texas. For more information visit: http://vangough.bandcamp.com/

Upcoming Shows:
01/04: @ The Parish, Austin, Texas

RPWL - second live DVD to be recorded in February 2013

As previously announced, Clive Nolan is currently working on his new project "Alchemy". The world premiere of the show will take place at the famous Wyspianski Theatre in Katowice, Poland on February 22, 2013. This special evening at the Theatre will be enriched by two additional concerts. One of the Artists performing that night will be Paul Menel, who, along with his band, will perform songs from one of the best albums in the career of his previous formation IQ - "Nomzamo". Today we reveal the second band: RPWL.

The music of this German band definitely has its own style – modern yet also drawing from the best traditions of the prog-rock genre. All in all - brilliant compositions, catchy melodies, mature and intriguing sound!  The band was formed in 1997 in Freising, Germany as a Pink Floyd cover band. After three years they started creating their own music, based on their experience from their cover band era. Glorious reviews after the release of their debut album "God Has Failed" (2000), a successful tour through half of Europe, and appearances at various festivals left no doubt - the band had become a must-hear of the progressive/symphonic rock genre. In march 2002, RPWL released a follow-up album entitled "Trying to Kiss the Sun". With this album, the band emphatically shed off their reputation of a Pink-Floyd cover band and created a sound of their own. The band toured extensively through Germany and Europe, taking their shows to a new level with a quadraphonic sound system, which made their already huge live sound even more gigantic. Having published their album in the USA and South America, RPWL gained fans and recognition all over the world. In the next years, the band released the following studio albums: "Stock" (2003), „World Through My Eyes" (2005), "The RPWL Experience" (2008). „Beyond Man and Time" (2012) is their most recent album and it will make for the main part of their performance at Wyspiański Theatre in Katowice. As the band announce, it will be the last complete performance of "Beyond Man and Time" album in Europe. The show will be recorded and released on DVD by Metal Mind Productions later next year.

ASIA Featuring John Payne Announces First Single and Video from Forthcoming Album

AOR/Prog rockers ASIA Featuring John Payne are set to make the music industry stand up and listen with their first single release "Seasons Will Change" now available as a digital single on iTunes and other mainstream online media outlets. Co-written by John Payne and Erik Norlander, "Seasons Will Change" is the first track unveiled from the band's forthcoming album "Americana", scheduled for release by Sony Music Japan in 2013. To promote the single, ASIA Featuring John Payne has released a promotional video for "Seasons Will Change" which can be viewed at

John Payne explains:

"'Seasons Will Change' showcases elements of both vintage and modern rock music with notable characteristics of both the progressive and AOR genres, a tightrope that this band expertly walks with confidence and swagger.  In an endless sea of bubblegum, disposable, three minute, computer driven music, we take our lead from the masters of the 1970s. In that time, bands released extended length singles separate from an album release. Epic songs like 'Hotel California,' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' and 'Stairway to Heaven' still live with us today due to this strategy. It's time to lead and not follow. We've all waited long enough for a return to this classic approach."

Progressive rock aficionados will enjoy the layers of genuine analog synthesizers deployed by keyboard wizard Erik Norlander. Veteran ASIA drummer Jay Schellen's dynamic drumming delivers confident power and subtlety. The dual guitar harmonies of six-string virtuosos Jeff Kollman and Moni Scaria will delight classic rock fans. Long time fans will recognize John Payne's powerful vocals and evocative lyrics.

ASIA Featuring John Payne has been touring North America since 2008 and playing to enthusiastic fans across the USA and from Canada down to Mexico. A high-powered spinoff of the original ASIA group formed in 1981, ASIA Featuring John Payne consists of John Payne (lead vocals, bass), Jay Schellen (drums), Erik Norlander (keyboards), Moni Scaria (guitar) and Jeff Kollman (guitar). While Payne, Schellen and Norlander have been working together since the band's inception, the current lineup with guitarists Scaria and Kollman was finalized just this year in 2012.

John Payne became the frontman of the supergroup ASIA in 1992 at the invitation of keyboardist Geoff Downes, replacing vocalist/bassist John Wetton. With John Payne fronting the band, ASIA released 8 stunning studio albums, several live albums, a live DVD, and toured the world extensively for 14 years.

In 2006, Geoff Downes left the band to reform the 1982 line up for their 25th anniversary. On the 9th of May 2006, John Payne, Geoff Downes, John Wetton, Carl Palmer and Steve Howe contractually agreed that John Payne would continue his 14 year legacy with ASIA as "ASIA Featuring John Payne."

Nosound - At the Pier

Nosound are currently working on their new album, due to be released in 2013. Ahead of this release comes At The Pier, a new EP which features three brand new tracks. For the tracks Nosound are joined by Marianne De Chastelaine on cello and Chris Maitland, formerly of Porcupine Tree and Blackfield, on drums. Chris, who will be playing on all of the tracks on the new album, adds a new dimension to the Nosound dynamic through his powerful and inventive drumming as frontman Giancarlo Erra explains when describing the tracks that make up At The Pier:

In general I would say that The Anger Song is a more rough and bleak song than usual Nosound, probably even more powerful and 'angry'. A New Start is more Nosound but almost uplifting in a melancholic way, majestic in music with more twisted lyrics, with a mix of blues and postrock all packed in a song. Two Monkeys is based around piano, upright bass and sampled strings, with deep meaningful lyrics for a different type of piano song to previous Nosound and featuring Marianne De Chastelaine's cello.
