Doogie White & La Paz – new single, new video! // Download link for radiostations

British band Doogie White & La Paz released recently their brand new studio album entitled "Shut Up And Rawk". Today, you can check the video to the second single promoting the album. "Daughter Of Time" video is available HERE.

Almost immediately after their previous offering, "The Dark And The Light" (2013) had been released, Chic McSherry and Doogie White started writing new material. A total of 17 ideas were demo'd with 11 of them finally being crafted into songs for a new album. Recording could only be done in stages because of other commitments, but in many ways that extra time allowed the songs to develop and mature into a very powerful rock album, entitled "Shut Up And Rawk!" released worldwide by Metal Mind Productions on April, 8th 2016.

The album has now been mixed and mastered by Rolf Munkes at Empire Studios in Frankfurt, Germany.

La Paz was formed in Lanarkshire, Scotland in the summer of 1984 by Chic McSherry (guitars), Doogie White (vocals) and Alex Carmichael (bass). At the first rehearsal together they hit it off immediately on a personal level - they also liked the same music and they had the same influences and heroes (Purple, Rainbow, Journey, Gary Moore) so they started to recruit other members to try to form a band and go do some gigs. Andy Mason (keyboards) joined the trio and he fitted in from the start, even though he was still at school when he joined. Drummers were always a problem and, over the life of the band, La Paz went through almost as many as Spinal Tap. Unquestionably the loudest and the most accomplished was/is their current drummer, Paul McManus.
They gigged regularly and played some prestigious venues including the world-famous Marquee Club in London as well as at some festivals in Milton Keynes. They were featured regularly in music magazines of the day, particularly Kerrang! (Derek Oliver becoming a big fan of the band) and attracted interest from a number of UK and US record companies, finally agreeing terms with one of them for a three album deal.
But it was not to be - for reasons which were never explained by the record label the deal fell through at the very last minute. Sadly the band didn't survive for very long after that. They did their last gig on 15th October 1988 and then Doogie moved to London to join Midnite Blue, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, Cornerstone, Yngwie Malmsteen and now Michael Schenker.
And then legendary DJ Tom Russell of 96.3 Rock Radio called Doogie and asked him if he would do some acoustic numbers at The Garage in Glasgow for Rock Radio's Birthday Bash in January 2008. Doogie agreed and asked Chic to play guitar.
It was a big ask after 20 years: almost 1000 people, Doogie singing alone and Chic with one flamenco guitar! "We had such a blast though and it woke up so many great memories in both of us that we decided to give it a go with the full band for my 50th birthday" said Chic. And so the full band started to rehearse and it was clear that they could still play a bit. The band just gelled: just like old times and the gigs were a terrific success. And so the idea of re-recording some of the favourites from the set that had never had a proper production job was conceived. The final result can be heard on the album "Granite" released in February 2012 on Metal Mind Productions.
The band's second album, "The Dark and The Light" was also released on Metal Mind Productions on 27th May 2013 to critical acclaim, with Classic Rock and Powerplay magazines both giving positive and strong reviews and the track "Don't Drink With The Devil2 becoming the Classic Rock Magazine's Number 1 Track of The week in their reader's poll.

Live appearances are difficult due to Doogie White's touring schedule with Michael Schenker and Paul McManus' also being involved with GUN, but the band made a rare appearance as the headline act on the opening night of the 2014 Hard Rock Hell Festival on March 20th. The show was "packed" and well received.

NYC Prog Trio SkyTalk Release New Video “Hearing The Silence”

"If this impressive debut can introduce them to the same audience that has embraced The Dirty Loops with such enthusiasm, 'Days in the Sun' might launch SkyTalk to great heights." - PROG Magazine

NYC - In support of their latest critically acclaimed EP "Days in the Sun" NYC prog trio SkyTalk has released a new video titled "Hearing The Silence"!

SkyTalk is a 3 piece collaborative effort formed in January 2015 by twin brothers Jordan and Talor Steinberg and Dan "Ello" Costello. Costello was introduced to the twins by a mutual friend while all three were attending Purchase College. They bonded instantly on a similar taste in music, particularly 70's progressive rock bands like Yes and Rush. Shortly after meeting, the three met up again to jam and quickly found that they had an undeniable musical chemistry, as well as similar inner philosophies on life and music. Eager to form a band, the three began writing original music together and were surprised at the effortlessness of the process, writing five songs in a matter of two months that would later become their "Days in the Sun" EP.

Blending their love of progressive music as well as soul and funk influences, SkyTalk polished their newfound sound and recorded the EP in the following months. With a lyrical emphasis on spiritual concepts, and the shared belief that music is a necessary and powerful force of healing and expression in the world, SkyTalk has released their first EP and is currently working on a new full length record which even further emphasizes these principles.

Here's what the press have raved about SkyTalk:

"Hearing the Silence is an incredible piece of music. It combines King's X sounds with fusion and more of a soulful rock element. The instrumental section is pretty crazed. I love the funky bass." - Music Street Journal

"With licks and riffs boiling hot, 'Hearing The Silence' turns out quite dry, its powerful chorus an exemption and its solo section the best showcase of the group's dexterity." - dmme.net

"Hearing the Silence features nimble interplay in the rhythm section, with the slap-bass driven groove punctuated by brisk syncopated breaks." - PROG Magazine

SkyTalk is currently booking shows in New York and in the East Coast, as well as beginning to record a full length album. They are also working on another music video.

KANSAS TO LAUNCH TOUR IN CELEBRATION OF 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF BREAKTHROUGH ALBUM 'LEFTOVERTURE

SEXTUPLE PLATINUM ALBUM TO BE PERFORMED IN ITS ENTIRETY

America's preeminent progressive rock band KANSAS will be touring select cities this fall celebrating the 40th Anniversary of their breakthrough album 'Leftoverture.'  To celebrate, for the first time in history, the band will be performing the album in its entirety.  The tour will showcase two hours of classic KANSAS music including hit songs, deep cuts, and new songs from their soon to be released album, 'The Prelude Implicit."

In 1976, KANSAS released the album 'Leftoverture.' Containing the smash hit, and million-selling single "Carry On Wayward Son," along with fan favorites such as "The Wall," "Miracles Out Of Nowhere," and "What's On My Mind," 'Leftoverture,' became the band's breakthrough album. The album peaked at #5 on Billboard's Album charts and reached sextuple-platinum status for more than 6 million copies sold.

"These definitely will not be your typical KANSAS concerts of the past few years," commented original KANSAS guitarist Richard Williams. "This is incredibly exciting for the entire band, and hopefully our fans.  It's something we've never done before, play an album in its entirety, as part of a set.  'Leftoverture' was our breakthrough, and it's special that we are getting to celebrate it 40 years later.  We've never even played "Questions of My Childhood" live before.   I can't wait!"

The tour will also debut performances of songs from the band's latest studio release 'The Prelude Implicit.'  The new album, scheduled for release in September 2016 is the band's 15th studio album and first new album since 2000.

KANSAS Lead Vocalist Ronnie Platt added, "This is going to be really special for both the band and our fans.  It has been really wild recording 'The Prelude Implicit.'  We are anxious to perform some of the songs for live audiences.  To be able to do that while also be performing 'Leftoverture' in its entirety, and more; this is going to be a blast! Who knows, we may even have some more twists added in!"

Tickets & KANSAS VIP Packages for most dates go on sale to the general public Friday, April 22, 2016.  More ticket information can be found at www.kansasband.com.

Guitar Virtuoso Marcelo Paganini To Release Digitally “First time in Rio - Marcelo Paganini Band Live”

Paris - French-Brazilian guitar virtuoso Marcelo Paganini has been away from his native Brazil for more than 11 years when he booked a last minute tour in December 2014 to release there his critically acclaimed prog rock jazz fusion album "2012 Space Traffic Jam". Three gigs in his home town Belo Horizonte, including the private party for Marcelo's 50th anniversary, and three gigs in Rio de Janeiro where he has never played before with his band. Being also a film maker, doing what he calls "No BS films" (means "no budget/no script films") since 2003, Paganini decided to make a rockumentary about the tour: "First time in Rio" ("Primeira vez no Rio") 34 minutes 57 seconds, color, France, that was concluded in March 2016. There is also one extended version planned, around one hour long, with more live songs. The rock doc will be screened at Portobello Film Festival in London next September. The live soundtrack of the film is being released in April the 14th 2016 on CD Baby "First time in Rio - Marcelo Paganini Band Live". 49 minutes of music in 6 tracks. 5 from the "2012 Space Traffic Jam" album: "Sphinxes of Babel", "Crying With a Smile", "Somewhere Somehow", "B4ever Now", "Somewhere Somehow" encore and the instrumental bonus track "Trindade" used in the end credits of the film. All songs and lyrics by Marcelo Paganini.

As a film maker Marcelo Paganini participated in festivals in several countries (Brazil, Netherlands, Iceland, France, UK) and made, among others: "Interactivity", an experimental film in 35 mm in 2003; signed a distribution deal in Hollywood with Big Films Short/Tigris Films in 2007 for his short "The 8th Bullet"; was selected at Short Film Corner, Cannes Film Festival in 2008 with "The 8th Bullet Samba"; got short listed on "Best Musical Film" at Portobello Film festival in 2011 with "2010 Os Mutantes - Back to Paris" and won the "69 Hours Film Challenge" during the same Festival.

Several top Brazilian musicians participated in the documentary "First time in Rio": the founders (with Milton Nascimento) of the world famous mouvement "Clube da Esquina" (Corner's Club) Marcio and Lo Borges, Claudio Venturini from 14 Bis band, Marcio Buzelin from Jota Quest band, one of the most popular rock bands in Brazil, among others. Also interviewed for the film were two out of three original members of Marcelo Paganini's band in 1983, when he played his first theater show at ICBEU in Belo Horizonte and performed "Sphinxes of Babel" live for the first time, song that opens his "2012 Space Traffic Jam" album released in 2014.

On this tour Marcelo Paganini had a great band in Belo Horizonte with Leo Javali on bass, Walner Lucas on keys and Christian Weber on drums. They played to a full house at Gilboa, the crowd sang along, danced and went wild. There are many videos on-line. They also played the birthday party and the last gig in town at Livraria Status, an open air show which was almost canceled because of the rain. People came anyway with umbrellas and at the end the sun showed up as well.

In Rio, Marcelo Paganini also got some of the best musicians in town, therefore in the country: Milton Nascimento's keyboard player Kiko Continentino, with whom he had a jazz duo back in 1987. Almost 30 years later, they connected together again like no time had passed, and shared adventurous and burning hot improvisations. Kiko Continentino is one of the most exciting keyboard players in prog rock today and joined one year ago legendary Brazilian jazz band Azymuth. Sergio Brandao, the first call Brazilian bass player in New York City, and Paganini's friend for over 25 years also joined his band for the Rio leg of the tour. Cassia Eller's (one of the top Brazilian rock singers who died in 2001) drummer Elcio Cafaro was thrilled to accept the invitation for the shows. Elcio was on the cover of Modern Drummer Magazine Brazil last January. With only two half rehearsals the band fusioned around the complex compositions playing with fire and passion like if they have always played together. The first show was at Audio Rebel on December the 22nd. The 23rd it was at Godofredo Rio and the final gig of the tour was at Vizta on the 27th. The CDs sold out during the tour but are still available on line. Marcelo Paganini came back to France without knowing if or when he will come back to Brazil.

There was an  overwhelming response on the Internet when the video of "Somewhere Somehow" on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/13255032254/videos/10153135644402255/  More than a thousand video views in a single day! As Marcelo Paganini puts it: "There are two versions of the song on the live album, completely different from each other, always fresh approach, instant group composition. The encore was melting the walls. Gary Hobish from A. Hammer Mastering in San Francisco did an awesome job, this was one of the best shows in my life  and I am glad to share it with the world.  Once you walk in the right direction the whole Universe conspires to help you. Sounds like ready-made wisdom, but it turns out to be true. If you try to please everybody you will fail and go crazy. 'My music will please somebody else, at least I now it pleases itself'(from "Somewhere Somehow"). Sometimes when you don't know what are you doing means you also don't know it can't be done. It is all about letting interesting accidents happen. The music industry is obsessed with audio quality, and rightly so. Me too. But in 2016 people are listening to music on their phones, on ear buds and on computer speakers. Some people, me for example, prefer to hear an spectacular performance with less than ideal sound quality, rather than a lifeless musical noise perfectly recorded. Robert Johnson rules. Same thing applies to my film. It is no budget, not Hollywood, capisco? Do it yourself Mode: ON. If you put ten or more people in there with lights, wires and stuff, nothing spontaneous can happen, or rarely happens. It is completely artificial. Everybody else goes around trying to make 'good' films, but we all know most films are 'bad'. I only go around to make 'bad' films. Since I can't do anything right, even starve as a musician/film maker after all these years, maybe at the end my films will be 'good'. At least to the right audience. You can not be everything to everybody. The trouble is not being pretentious, the trouble is being up to the pretension. I went there for one month alone with just one old camera, one suitcase, one guitar, one effects rack, one old laptop computer. I made two bands, rehearsed a little bit, played 6 shows made a film, and a live recording out of it. I edited and posted on line several videos. I also composed a couple of songs and did some recordings. How many people can do that?  I mean, most people go to Brazil for a month and do nothing but stay in the beach until they turn red shrimp. And my mom asking when I am going to have a real job... The content is the most important thing, even with rough edges. I make stuff happen in front of my lonely camera, I direct the REALITY. I found my public at Portobello Film Festival, we feel the same way. "

After being added by organizers Rael and JoJo Razor at the last minute to play with the After Hours Electric Prog Jam on the Cruise to the Edge 2015, Marcelo Paganini stunned the audience at the pre-sail party at Magic City Casino in Miami with a very emotional (it was the following day of the Paris Attacks) and breath taking interpretation, even after breaking the D string of his guitar in the middle of a very demanding King Crimson song and keep playing to the end. The performance was shot with 5 cameras and will be available on-line soon. One camera video is already on-line. There was no rehearsals, no scores, no sound check, some musicians met on stage for the first time. They are all passengers of the cruise who organizes themselves over the Internet to play the most demanding prog rock songs without rehearsing. Famous musicians from YES and other bands joined the jam during the late hours.

Cruising from Miami to the Bahamas and back, Marcelo Paganini rocked the ship. Check out the pictures and videos already on-line. Paganini also re-connected with YES bass player Billy Sherwood who agreed to record one song with original YES keyboard player Tony Kaye on the follow up to his album "2012 Space Traffic Jam". The live band in France has Marcelo Paganini on guitar, Marc Madore on bass and Christophe Bras on drums, they have been together for many years. They will start recording Marcelo Paganini's new studio album later this year, for a release in early 2017.  Eumir Deodato will also contribute. The album is still in the early stages, Paganini composed a couple of very promising tracks that gave him the confidence to push the project forward. The idea is to record later this year and release it in 2017.

There will be another Cruise to the Edge in February 2017 and Marcelo Paganini is hoping, like all the other prog acts not already in the bill, to be invited with his band by Larry Morand. "Cruise to the Edge was one of the best experiences in my life. It was very touching to see several people asking for my band on the cruise's group, it went straight to my heart. Guitar Player Magazine showed interest in sharing my memories, pictures and videos from CTTE 2015 in a blog that will be on-line soon. They already published an article on my live album," smiles Paganini. http://www.guitarplayer.com/artists/1013/gp-now-hear-this-alumni-marcelo-paganini-releases-live-in-brazil-film--cd/57587

Marcelo Paganini is currently looking for a singer to record with him, "someone ideally living in France or Europe who loves prog rock jazz fusion, digs my music and has no trouble with odd time signatures and strange melodies and harmonies. I wish Glenn Hughes would be interested, even if he lives in LA. " Paganini is also looking for a keyboard player to do a couple of gigs in France later in 2016 or early in 2017, "someone glad to learn the parts on the album and who can improvise wildly. The ideal person would also sing to keep the band a quartet and may record on the next album too.  If you are interested send me a message on Facebook with some video links". Paganini recorded most of the keyboards himself on his last album, and wish he had Shiva-like extra arms to play guitar and keys at once.

Wolverine and Klone added to the ProgPower Europe 2016 line-up

Swedish prog metallers Wolverine are currently working on the successor to the critical acclaimed "Communication Lost". The new album: "Machina Viva" will be released in the summer and it is because of that that we have added Wolverine, an excellent live band to 2016 the line-up.

Another addition to the line-up is Klone, the French progressive-groove-metal band turning to melodic rock, returning to the ProgPower stage after 6 years!  Praised for their last outing the superb: "Here Comes The sun", Klone has only matured over the years. A reason to invite them back to the our stage in Baarlo.

With these 2 additions, just two more bands will be added to the line-up.

Tickets for ProgPower Europe 2016 are available from: http://www.progpowereurope.com/tickets/

The 12 bands announced for this years festival:

6:33 (France)
Out of the ordinary, metal meets Tim Burton. catchy melodies. How can we better described the roller coaster ride that is the Avant-Garde metal band 6:33.
Atmospheres (Belgium)
Post rock meets progressive rock, young, new and talented Belgian outfit.

Chaos Divine (Australia)
After 7 years, Australian Chaos Divinie return to the ProgPower stage. Since then the band has released 2 albums, the latest, Colliding Skies, earlier in 2015.

Distorted Harmony (Israel)
Distorted Harmony is one of the most requested bands in our feedback survey. So it is about time for them to climb the ProgPower stage.

Earthside (USA)
Although a relatively young and unknown name, Earthside is taking the prog metal scene by storm. Their album, "A Dream In Static" is receiving very positive reviews on the internet. It shows how focused this band is.

Jolly (USA)
Jolly have already shown their abilities on the ProgPower stage. It is because of that that we welcome them back on our stage to play their therapeutic auditory experience

Klone (France)
First described as a Progressive Groove Metal band, French Klone now better fits the description: melodic atmospheric rock band.

Nordic Giants (United Kingdom)
Instrumental post rock from the UK. Music supported by cinematic projections, making a Nordic Giants performance is a stunning experience.

Subterenean Masqurade
A band with many different nationalities on board, formed by Tomer Pink (from Israel). Music with middle-eastern influences, played on instruments not normally used in metal, grunts and clean vocals. Different but very catchy.

Textures (The Netherlands)
Formed in 2001, Textures creates complex and challenging metalcore. Living up to their name the band creates Textures of melodies and rhythms.

Threshold (United Kingdom)
A band that needs no introduction to prog metal fans. They were the headliner on the first ProgPower in 1999. And it has been eight years since they last played at ProgPower, about time they returned.

Wolverine (Sweden)
The Prog Metal outfit from Sweden, that has started out with death metal influences but has come a long way since then. Now playing a more melodic progressive metal style, well thought out, almost subdued, yet full of energy. A band with a great live reputation.

And 2 more bands to be confirmed!

ROBERT REED RELEASES SANCTUARY II on June 10th 2016

ROBERT REED RELEASES SANCTUARY II on June 10th 2016

Tigermoth Records is pleased to announce the  release of the follow up to the acclaimed 2014 "Sanctuary" album by multi-instrumentalist and producer Robert Reed (Magenta / Kompendium / Kiama / Chimpan A).

"Sanctuary II" is produced, mixed and engineered by Reed, who also plays most of the instruments himself, although for this new album he is joined by legendary drummer Simon Phillips (Toto / Mike Oldfield/The Who) while the original "Tubular Bells" production team of Tom Newman and Simon Heyworth have once again made important contributions to the sound of the album.

Robert comments about the spirit behind the two Sanctuary albums:

"There's a well known interview with Mike Oldfield in which he said that he was so disappointed that nobody had carried the torch forward that he had lit with 'Tubular Bells' - creating long form music; completely hand- played with real instruments; music that relied on emotion and melody; music you could lose yourself in. What I am trying to do with the "Sanctuary "albums is to carry that ideal forward."

Robert also discusses the participation of legendary drummer Simon Phillips on "Sanctuary II":

"I wanted to do something different on this new album. I had played all the instruments on the first, so this time I decided to use real drums. There was one person at the top of my wish list, and it was  Simon Phillips. I grew up listening to Simon's playing on Mike Oldfield's "Crises" album, and went to see him play with Mike at Wembley. I could never had thought, then, that one day he would play on my own album. I feel amazingly lucky. His trademark sound is perfect for the album. It really has taken 'Sanctuary II' to another level."

The album will be released as a 3 disc set. CD1 will contain the new album while CD2 includes unreleased tracks, remixes and Tom Newman's alternative mixes. The third disc will be  a DVD containing the 5.1 mix of the album and various promotional videos.

The album can be pre-ordered from www.robreedofficial.co.uk

A vinyl version will also be available from www.planegroovy.com

The album will be preceded by the release of a digital EP "Marimba" on April 18th taken from "Sanctuary II". The EP will contain 4 tracks and will be available from the Robert Reed band camp site.

Filmed and recorded at Madrid's Joy Eslava Theatre on November 19th 2015 as part of Michael Schenker's Temple Of Rock 2015 European tour, "On A Mission: Live In Madrid" features live performances of their recent rock radio hits Vigilante Man, Communion and Live and Let Live, as well as the MSG/UFO/Scorpions classics Doctor Doctor, Lights Out, Too Hot To Handle, Rock You Like A Hurricane and Rock Bottom.  Click here for the official press page, CD/DVD artwork and hi res photos - www.noblepr.co.uk/Press_Releases/michaelschenker/live-in-madrid.htm.

The set began with Doctor Doctor from the UFO era and within seconds, fans and band alike had warmed up to the temperature at which rock melts. This high level of enthusiasm was maintained throughout, and turned the heavy rock show into a special event that will stay forever in the memories of both the band and audience. The sheer density of hits from four decades, including Lovedrive and Blackout (Scorpions), Lights Out and Rock Bottom (UFO) or Victim Of Illusion (MSG), plus songs from the last three Michael Schenker's Temple Of Rock albums, made it an evening fans would never forget.

The concert was recorded using state-of-the-art sound and video technology. 4K technology cameras provide perfect, crystal clear pictures. Additional room microphones were placed at different levels in the auditorium, all of which will provide an additional Dolby Atmos 3D mix on the Blu-ray edition.

Arjen comments: "Even today as I write this, I am amazed and touched by how hard everyone worked and how much love and care they generously gave to make it all happen. Sometimes the dream becomes reality!"

THE HUMAN EQUATION STORY
After a mysterious single-car accident, the victim - a man in his late 30s - lies comatose in the hospital. Before the accident he was a powerful businessman, wildly successful by any measure but also known for his cutthroat business tactics. Now he finds himself trapped in a prison that took him a lifetime to build: the prison of his own mind.

Guarding the prison are his emotions, which have taken on vivid personas inside his mind. Some are friends, some are foes, and they all have their own agendas. Some aim to trick him or dominate him, others to comfort or inspire him. But the one objective they all share is to force him to face up to the demons of his past and the deep truths about who he is and how he's lived his life, all of which he's conveniently ignored until now. Fear, Rage, Agony, Love, Passion, Reason and Pride take turns engaging the man in this emotional warfare.

Two people hold vigil at the man's bedside: his wife and his best friend. They are desperate to understand how the accident happened and to see even the tiniest sign that the man will regain consciousness. But the man's recovery is not their only concern: is it possible that he somehow found out their secret, and that the "accident" wasn't really an accident at all? Would he ever be able to forgive them?

Will the man have the strength to face the truth about himself and the ones he loves? The story unfolds over his twenty-day emotional struggle with Fear, Rage, Agony, Love, Passion, Reason and Pride, in which each day of coma is represented by a song.

Look out for more information in the weeks!

Doogie White & La Paz – new album, new website

British band Doogie White & La Paz release their brand new studio album "Shut Up And Rawk" on this Friday, April 8th. As to coincide with the album release, the band have revamped their official website: http://www.lapazrocks.com/news.aspx

The album is currently promoted by track "Light The Fire". The official lyric video can be seen in THIS location.

Almost immediately after their previous offering, "The Dark And The Light" (2013) had been released, Chic McSherry and Doogie White started writing new material. A total of 17 ideas were demo'd with 11 of them finally being crafted into songs for a new album. Recording could only be done in stages because of other commitments, but in many ways that extra time allowed the songs to develop and mature into a very powerful rock album, entitled "Shut Up And Rawk!" which is due for a worldwide release by Metal Mind Productions On April, 8th 2016.

6. Retribution Blues

10. Throw Me To The Wolves
11. Miss Dynamite
12. Book Of Shadows

Almost immediately after "The Dark And The Light" had been released, Chic McSherry and Doogie White started writing new material. A total of 17 ideas were demo'd with 11 of them finally being crafted into songs for a new album.
