PHASE REVERSE 'S ''ALIVE & KICKING'' TOUR 1st show for 2011

We would like to inform you about our upcoming show in Athens ,
the first show for the new year @ After Dark  with our friends Fireground
opening the show for us!  January 2, 2011  22:00PM

'PHASE REVERSE'
ATHENS, GR   |  Metal / Heavy Rock

Members: Alex Alexiou (drums),John Chiefreverse Stergiou (guitars), Tas Ioannidis(vox/bass)

It's gonna be a New Year's blast "I loved the album, and found it better the second time through. Being a true heavy album, it had everything I look for, including the artwork, to want to have it in my collection as a favorite. Thumbs up big time! " — Peter Murr, RIFFHANGAR REVIEWS

"Sometimes things are so damn simple... 'Phase Reverse' plays blistering Stoner, Doom Heavy Rock. This Greek Metal sensation with the seedbed Southern touch is clearly stigmatic with the entire cargo of drudged and lusty efforts. Their homonymous debut album includes eleven (great) tracks just waiting to be unleashed (not just to the east!) and to be played loud! This "Phase" leaves you alone into the warfare of riffs of some mini-masterpieces that are well-hidden on the CD and incorporates 'Phase Reverse' into a highly promising band of the Heavy Rock/Stoner Greek metal scene! A great effort all in all! " — Elias Papadopoulos, Rockrace

"Just listen to their songs and you will get into them right away. There is a certain power in the material, soaring vocals, a vibrant edge that makes them stand out from the crowd. I've a feeling we will be hearing more from the band in the future." — NICKY BALDRIAN, FIREWORKS issue#37!

ThanatoSchizO - NEW SONG, renewed MySpace, new photos

ThanatoSchizO have just divulged the advanced song from Origami, their 5th album, which will come out on January 2011. The chosen track is (Un)bearable Certainty that was originally released in the 2008 record – Zoom Code - and now has the collaboration of Fadomorse's Hugo Correia. The theme can be downloaded at http://www.thanatoschizo.com/downloads/download-file/8/(Un)bearable+Certainty.mp3 or listened to online streaming through the band's renewed Myspace (http://www.myspace.com/thanatoschizo) that will present a lot of new things, including photos of the new line-up.
After ten years with a stable set of members, TSO is now reduced to a quartet. Patrícia, Guilhermino, Filipe and Paulo will be joined on stage by two session members, who will be revealed in due time. Concerning this, Guilhermino has said the following:
"In the middle of the recording process and after the guitars' tracking, Eduardo approached us to announce that he had the need to leave the group to focus on his other artistic passion: the plastic arts. In that time, we had to ponder which was the path to follow and the natural solution was clear: Patrícia should be taking on the main vocals role from that moment on and I would take care of the backing vocals. The whole departure procedure was cordial and the friendship has remained intact. In Miguel's case, he also recorded the album's bass guitar but, due to professional reasons, he is abroad and that makes it impossible for him to be present in live performances, which could be dully noted both at Teatro de Vila Real and Ermal Festival in 2009.
The rehearsals are going smoothly and I can guarantee to our fans that the session members' choice was not taken lightly. After all, this band is an important part of our lives and we wouldn't make a careless decision."

The band also disclosed Origami's track list:
 1. inExistence
 2.
(Un)bearable Certainty 3. Nightmares Within
 4. Pervasive Healing
 5. RAWoid
 6. Sublime Loss
 7. Dance of the Tender Leaves
 8. Sweet Suicidal Serenade
 9. The Journey's Shiver
10. Hereafter Path
11.
Last of the Few12. Pale Blue Perishes
The album was recorded in Teatro de Vila Real and Blind & Lost Studios (band's property), heading Guilhermino Martins in the production section and Mika Jussila at Finnvox Studios (Finland) in the mastering area.

SUPERSISTER to light up NEARfest 2011

Born in the Netherlands of the roaring sixties, Supersister became a local legend in the early seventies with their first single ' She was Naked', followed by 4 remarkable albums that firmly established their unique place in the music scene.

In the years leading up to 1974 the group continued to develop their new and very own language of European orientated pop music. They were received well internationally by the likes of John Peel and found themselves working with trendsetting organizations like the Netherlands Dance Theatre.

Supersisters reappearance at LA Progfest in 2000, followed by the live DVD Supersisterious (live in Amsterdam), proved that their music didn't lose a bit of its crispy edge. The unexpected tragic loss of flutist Sacha van Geest in that same year caused this successful reunion to come to a sudden end.

Now some 10 years later, with Sacha very much in mind and for the sake of the timeless spirit and humor that will always be part of Supersister live performances, Supersister will appear as a trio* at NEARfest 2011.

It is with this spirit that we here at the home offices of NEARfest proudly welcome Supersister to the stage of Baker Hall this coming June. Be sure to have your multicolored glasses on for band #3 on Sunday as Supersister is sure to light up the stage.

SLP and the album "Perception" new release in 2011

SLP
Perception
AVAILABLE Dec 20th 2010 on the Unicorn Website

JANUARY 15th 2011 everywhere else

Sébastien Lépine has established a solid reputation in the realm of classical music, yet he is also a highly versatile artist, a musical renaissance man who never hesitates to venture out on the uncertain path of experimentation. SLP (for Sébastien Lépine Project) finds the cellist temporarily swapping his precious Stradivarius for an electric cello, backed by the stalwart musicianship of guitarist Martin Carbonneau, bassist Ian Peterson, and drummer Denis Marchand. Within this electric chamber ensemble, if one may so call it, he delivers his own jazz-infused progressive rock compositions, creating an eclectic, yet attractive amalgamation of sounds.

Inspired by the likes of King Crimson, Pat Metheny, and Gentle Giant, the former pupil of cello master Janos Starker explores the many facets of the electric cello through remarkably well-written works that brilliantly showcase the spectacular instrument. Featuring electric guitar, electric bass, and drums, the performance is as surprising as it is uniquely innovative.

Thus, with SLP, Lépine lets his fertile imagination run rampant, ever eager to cast the anchor of his creative mind into unexplored territory. May the audience sail along with him... and bon voyage!

TRIOXIDE - Available Now - UNICORN DIGITAL

TRIOXYDE

in 2010, Trioxyde celebrates its 20th anniversary! Founded in 1990 in Montreal by guitarist and composer Jean-François Girard, the band started its career as a power trio, promoting its music via local and national radios, bars and also some well renowned jazz events in Quebec.

In 1995, Trioxyde has turned into a quartet with the addition of a sax player. This metamorphosis can be heard on their first EP album release «Fantôme» (1996). This new skin leads the band to accomplish some bigger touring projects in Quebec and France (Grenoble, Lyon and Vienne).

In 2003, the saxophone is replaced by the electric piano. The musical approach provided more maturity, as well as the new repertoire. Accordingly the musical approch is immediately felt in a CD simply titled «Trioxyde» is released in 2007.

Artillery - title of the new album revealed!

Artillery 9.12.2010 - photo by John-son

Artillery, one of the best thrash metal bands around, is currently working in Medley Studios, Denmark on the follow-up to their highly acclaimed album "When Death Comes" (2009). The new material entitled "My Blood" will be released by Metal Mind Productions in March 2011.

So far Artillery recorded 14 songs - 10 brand new tracks, a remake of "Ain´t Giving In" (from 1992´s "Mind Factory" demo) and 3 bonus tracks which are all new versions of timeless classics from the 1985's album "Fear of Tomorrow" ("The Eternal War", "The Almighty", "Show Your Hate").

Soren Adamsen, Artillery's vocalist, revealed a few titles of the new tracks. He also described the lyrics for those tracks:

1. "The Great Satan" – it's a song about the decadence of the western society and evil empires all around the world.
2. "Monster" - a song about serial killers. None in particular.
3. "Death is an Illusion" - a track about life and death.
4. "The End of Eternity"- dealing with depression and thoughts about starting a new life.
5. "Mi Sangre" – it's about my son. It's a 7 and a half-minute song, almost an epic endeavor.
6. "Concealed in the Dark" -  two words - David Sharp. Go search for it on the internet, it's an interesting story.
7. "Dark Days" – it's about the change in the climate.
8. "Warrior Blood" - a song about fighting. Soldiers, prize-fighters, people who are struggling with deadly diseases.

What can we expect from the musical side of the new album? Guitarist Michael Stützer says: "The sound is a bit more heavy than it was on 'When Death Comes'. The music is a mixture of our previous albums 'When Death Comes' and 'By Inheritance', with a slight touch of 'Terror Squad' and 'Fear of Tomorrow' with some oriental pieces." Producer Søren Andersen added: "There is an almost rock´n roll feeling in some of the songs".

The release date of "My Blood" is set for 9th March 2011 in Japan (via Kings Records), 21st March 2011 in Europe and 5th April 2011 in USA (via MVD). More details to be announced soon.

Moonjune Records in Brazil

Among the titles of the label are names like Allan Holdsworth and Soft Machine

One of the best jazz-rock and fusion catalogues of the world is now available in Brazil. The U.S. based label MOONJUNE RECORDS announced this week a partnership that will enable the distribution of some of its key titles for the whole Brazilian territory.

MOONJUNE RECORDS came into being in 2001 as the brainchild of entrepreneurial producer, tour manager and promoter Leonardo Pavkovic. Its focus is to release internationally-situated music by artists exploring the expanding boundaries of genuine, challenging, non-over-produced music that cannot be easily categorized into any specific format. MoonJune Records' ongoing goal is to support music that transcends stylistic pigeon-holing, but operates within an evolutionary progressive musical continuum that places jazz at one end and rock at the other. The ever-expanding boundaries of these two musical categories have since come to include everything from progressive rock to ethno-jazz, from experimental avant-garde to jazz-rock, and anything in between.

The label's catalog has more than 50 releases, including titles from renowned artists, such as Allan Holdsworth, one of the all time biggest myths and most influential guitarists. Are also in the catalog several albums and projects of Soft Machine, the main band of the 'Canterbury Sound' movement that marked the 70ths.

NEARfest 2011 Friday Night

NEARfest is proud to present, a break for your pockets and a treat for your ears. Three outstanding bands, all the future-present of progressive music and all ready to tear it up on the Zoellner stage. Toronto Canada's Half Past Four, Illinois's own Von Frickle and Finland's Jeavestone will split the evening, each providing their own spin on progressive/art rock.
Half Past Four's style is hard to describe as the group does not restrict itself to following one specific genre. The musicians concern themselves with what they do best - writing and performing a free spirited, never before played chord structures and melodies. Experimental arrangement, fusion composition, polyrhythmic structures and atonal melodies are not uncommon in their music. Drawing its inspiration from stalwarts such as King Crimson, Frank Zappa, Jethro Tull as well as many other progressive, kraut, art and math-rock bands, Half Past Four takes pride and pleasure in taking art rock a little further and planting its seeds in the harsh soil of contemporary popular culture.

Von Frickle, an instrumental band that are inclined to full experimentation as well as to sound streams and beautiful melodies. Everything in their music creates the "stereotype" of unique music, a heavy listen which translates into a tremendous experience. Drawing from such influences as Zappa, Pink Floyd and the Dregs, the band still maintains an air of originality via their expression of aggressive, modern art rock. Von Frickle's use of theatrics further enhances their live experience; projections, expressionless masks and white suits act as the norm for this eclectic group.

Jeavestone was formed in 1999 and released their first self-financed EP in 2001. The first full length album "Mind The Soup" was released in 2005 and they played their first gigs outside Finland in July 2006 when they performed at the Burg Herzberg Festival and at the Freakshow Artrock Festival in Germany. It was their 2nd album "Spices, Species and Poetry Petrol" released in 2008, that Jeavestone found its identity. Their self imposed style deemed "eclectic prog" or "prog'n'roll, features an amalgam of influences from '70s classic prog acts like Gentle Giant and King Crimson combined with modern sounding rock. There is no shortage of humor in their musical approach which can be likened to the insanity of Zappa and Beardfish. Their instrumentation spans from traditional rock combo on the first album to the extensive use of woodwind and string instruments on their subsequent releases. Their latest release entitled "1+1=OK," cont inues their tradition, it is a fantastic slice of psychadelicartprog.

NEARfest is very excited to bring to you the diversity that has been our trademark. This "Night of the New Progressives" will thrill you all both musically and financially, a showcase for new bands at a great value. Half Past Four, Von Frickle and Jeavestone will make for a memorable NEARfest Friday night.

Steve Morse - the exclusive re-issue of three albums out in January

Steve Morse is best known for being the current guitarist of Deep Purple, replacing Ritchie Blackmore back in 1993. But his passion for rock started long before joining the legendary British group. Out of all the musical endeavors he participated in, the Steve Morse Band is perhaps the most significant and personal one. This instrumental trio is well known for re-inventing rock in all possible ways, mixing it with jazz, country, funk and even bluegrass.

"High Tension Wires" (1989), "Southern Steel" (1991) and "Coast to Coast" (1992) are to this day considered some of the finest albums Steve Morse has ever released. Metal Mind Productions is proud to present the exclusive reissues of those three albums which bring back true classics of one of the world's most talented rock guitarists…

Steve Morse was born on July 28th, 1954 in Hamilton, Ohio. Although he was learning to play piano and clarinet at that time, guitar ultimately became his instrument of choice. After his family moved to Augusta, Georgia, Morse and his older brother formed a band called Three. The group existed until Morse got enrolled in the Academy of Richmond County, where he met bassist Andy West, with whom he started the musical project initially called the Dixie Grit. The group did not last long, mostly because covering Led Zeppelin or Cream was not widely appreciated by the mainstream audiences at that time. After graduating from the school, Morse and West wanted to continue playing, officially naming their band Dixie Dregs. At one of their performances, they got noticed by Capricorn Records recruiters  and, in late 1976, the label offered the group a record deal. Dixie Dregs' first LP – "Free Fall" – was released in 1977 and, although it received great reviews, the album sales were rather poor. A similar situation occurred after the release of the group's sophomore offering – "What If" – in 1978. In July, Dixie Dregs got the opportunity to play at the Montreux Jazz Festival. Their performance was recorded and released the following year as "Night of the Living Dregs". Soon after that, their label went bankrupt and the band signed a new deal with Arista Records, which released three of their albums – "Dregs of the Earth" (1980), "Unsung heroes" (1981) and "Industry Standard" (1982), the latter being voted "Best Guitar LP" by readers of Guitar Player magazine (Morse was also voted "Best Overall Guitarist" by the same magazine – he managed to maintain that title for five consecutive years before ultimately joining the "Gallery of Greats", an honor shared only by Steve Howe of Yes). The group disbanded in early 1983, tired of constant touring and label pressure. This became a perfect opportunity for Morse to put his own band together. With the addition of bassist Jerry Peek and drummer Doug Morgan, the first incarnation of the Steve Morse Band was born. After Rod Morgenstein replaced Morgan, the group began working on their debut album in early 1984. Later that year, the band signed to Elektra Records and released "The Introduction". A second album – "Stand Up" - was released in 1985. 1989 saw the release of Morse's third solo effort entitled "High Tension Wires", one of the most laid back albums in the guitarist's catalogue. Morse managed to gather the classic Dregs line-up on this offering – the musicians even performed one of their songs called "Leprechaun Promenade". The rest of the LP was an eclectic mix of various genres, with such highlights as "Highland Wedding" and "Tumeni Notes". In 1986, Morse took some time off his solo work and joined the rock group Kansas. He recorded two LPs with them – "Power" (1986) and "In The Spirit of Things" (1988). After the promotional tour for the latter album, Morse left the band and, for a short while, the music industry in general. He returned in 1991 with a brand new record released under the Steve Morse Band moniker – "Southern Steel". The album was a medley of various styles such as rock, jazz, country and folk, combined with a wonderful southern rock vibe. The LP featured a guest performance by guitarist Jeff Watson (ex-Night Ranger) in the opening track "Cut to the Chase" and was considered one of the highlights of Steve's solo career.
"Southern Steel" was followed in 1992 by another album – "Coast to Coast". Steve's fifth solo offering was a bit more explorative than his previous LP, again delivering a variety of styles ranging from bluegrass ("Runway Train") to classical music ("Flat Baroque"). In 1993, during Deep Purple's tour promoting their "The Battle Rages On" album, long-time guitarist Ritchie Blackmore decided to leave the group. He was temporarily replaced by Joe Satriani but, after the tour was finished, Deep Purple needed to find another replacement. They chose Morse, who became the band's permanent member and, since then, recorded four studio albums with them – "Purpendicular" (1996), "Abandon" (1998), "Bananas" (2003) and "Rapture of the Deep" (2005). After recording over fifty albums overall, Steve Morse still continues his solo career. His last effort, "Out Standing In Their Field", was released in November 2009.

The exclusive reissues of "High Tension Wires", "Southern Steel" and "Coast to Coast" showcase the remarkable talent of this guitar virtuoso. For fans of good old rock music, these albums are absolutely essential. The albums will be available in a new digipak edition each limited to 2000 copies. Metal Mind Productions set the release date for 31st January 2011.

TETRAFUSION VIDEO PREMIER DEC 20TH

Progressive metal outfit TETRAFUSION and Nightmare Records are launching the official music video for the track "Monologue" from their sophomore album "Altered State" on Monday, December 20th.

The clip (filmed in Shreveport, LA) was produced by Chris Lyon (Perennial Media) and directed by Shreveport's Fairfield Studios and can be viewed below.
States bassist Mark Michell: "It was a pleasure to work with one of the highest-quality production studios and directors from our region. Chris Lyon has directed many recent independent films and is truly a natural at his craft. He and the crew from Fairfield really took the lyrics and story from our track and brought them to life with an amazing cinematic storyline. It brought the track to an entirely new level. We hope to work with these guys again in the future."

TETRAFUSION's blend of complex, technical metal blended with a highly-intellectual melodic structure offers an eclectic brand of progressive rock and metal placing the group among the elite the genre offers like PORCUPINE TREE, RUSH, DREAM THEATER, CYNIC, TOOL and MUSE. Originally an instrumental band, the group released its debut record, "Absolute Zero", to critical acclaim, which quickly launched TETRAFUSION into the underground metal scene, sans vocals, along the likes of SCALE THE SUMMIT, ANIMALS AS LEADERS, LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT, and CANVAS SOLARIS, and was hailed as one of the top ten albums of 2009 by Ultimate-Guitar.com.

The band's sophomore effort, "Altered State", was released on October 12th, 2010 on Nightmare Records / Sony / Red.   The CD was recorded and produced by David Forshee of Queensix Productions. The album was the band's first time to feature vocals, which were handled by keyboardist Gary Tubbs.
"Altered State" track listing:

01. Collage of the Present

At this moment Shamall is working passionately on his 25th anniversary album. That's why Shamall didn't release a new album this year. But his music label re-released Shamall's 2nd album "feeling like a stranger" as a limited edition because of so many inquiries from the fans of this era. This re-release has been completed with more than 50 minutes previously unreleased bonus material from the 80's and 90's era.

Deventter writting material for new album

The next CD will be the third of the band's career, sucessor of the high acclaimed "Lead... On"

The Brazilian progressive rock/metal band DEVENTTER has already started composing songs for a new album. The musicians are working at the band's rehearsal studio located in Sao Paulo, where the first ideas are being recorded as part of the pre-production.

On the road since 2001, DEVENTTER conquered some fame after releasing two albums, The 7th Dimension in 2007 and Lead... On in 2009. Especially with the last one, which was even voted "Best Brazilian Album of 2009" by the website Metal Clube and yielded several indications as "Best of the Year" on Roadie Crew magazine.

Due all the attention DEVENTTER got in the press, besides the important shows they have made, a new album of the band is being waited with great expectations.
"We're at the peak of our creativity," says guitarist DanilPilla. "It's common to not have much ideas after the release of an album, but it did not happen with us. As soon as we launched  "Lead... On"  we already had a lot of new ideas for an upcoming album. And this creative process does not stop growing. Almost every rehearsal comes a new song. We are very excited with this new material."

The band promises to keep their addresses on the internet updated with photos, videos and news from the studio. Stay tuned.
