Strawberry Fields to release live DVD in early September!

Wojtek Szadkowski, one of the most brilliant artists on the progressive rock scene and the leader of the renown prog-rock band Satellite, returns this Autumn with a DVD release of his outstanding and surprising project Strawberry Fields!

On the 20th of April 2011, at Wyspiański Theatre in Katowice, Poland, Strawberry Fields presented to their audience the band's very own, unique, subtly simple, magic and, at times, trip-hop-like brand of prog music, crowned with Robin's – the band's lead singer's – mesmerizing, sensual voice. Szadkowski and Robin were accompanied on stage by the former's fellow musicians from the band Satellite – Sarhan Kubeisi (guitars), Jarek Michalski (bass) and Krzysztof Palczewski (keys) – and together they presented their fans with a genuine musical feast by performing songs from Strawberry Fields' debut album "River's Gone Dry" as well as one previously unreleased song.

Also, the band surprised the audience by playing new versions of two memorable songs from Satellite's repertoire – "Don't Walk Away in Silence" and "Is It Over" – as also a classic Collage song "Living in the Moonlight". DVD entitled "Live Strawberry Fields" perfectly captures the magic of that exceptional evening.

The release date of "Live Strawberry Fields" DVD is scheduled for September. Full details to be revealed soon.

FIREYED AND THE ALBUM "From the ground floor"

The project started in 2006 with the goal to recreate, at least initially, the spirit and sound of the 80's rock'n'roll.

After a first round of live shows, focusing on playing the most famous American hard rock covers, Fireyed get an instant success in the local music scene, earning acclaim from the public who regularly is blown away by the power of a band that hinges on the power of their performances.

In 2007 the band decides to lock theirselves up in the studio to stretch their initial ideas and come up with six new songs that will be part of the homonymous LP "Fireyed" the album is not yet ripe but already shows the insights  that would later bring the band to a more contemporary sound but always full of the spirit that characterizes  the taste of the rock'n'roll quintet.
Therefore, the band has a chance to perform with some known names in the Italian and European rock scene, such as Jaded Heart, Rezophonic, Mike Terrana, Pino Scotto and others.

The sound undergoes it's first evolution also due to the change of line up:
The drums play relentlessly, the tone will darken, the bass is saturated with overdrive
and the songs that will make the first official album begin to blossom, drawing from the  influences of various components, all from different musical backgrounds.

Fireyed throw their musical mix in a boiling cauldron full of slashing dynamics,  expanding the horizons of a band to which the only Italian underground music scene begins to feel tight.
Thus began in 2009 a collaboration with "First Step Management", British agency that launched bands like The Coors,  which brings the powerful shows of Fireyed on the stages of the Anglo-Saxon region, planning a spring tour that touches England and Wales.
The result is extraordinary, the homeland of hard rock appreciates immediatly the band's live energy.

The return to Italy is promising, Fireyed participated in the national "Metal Battle" and won second place after a heated show on the final evening, grazing the chance to perform on stage at the "Wacken Open Air in Germany.
The band makes this missed opportunity an even stronger motivation to better express their potential and walk the Italian stages again with a national tour, and then begin the recording sessions that will give birth to the first full length album, "From The Ground Floor", a product that celebrates the band in terms of a new sound,  pulling away from the initial hard rock stereotypes that are replaced by a ripe sound and reflects disillusioned anger built-up over time.
The sessions end in March 2010, just in time to go on the road to the British lands where the five rockers finally fully express their mature identity with a longer tour that sees them play shoulder to some of the best known bands of the United Kingdom, such as first of all Tygers Of Pan Tang, historical formation of the NWBOHM scene in the beginning of the eighties.
The consecration comes, Fireyed acquire the popularity and reputation in UK and returning to their country they are noticed by the label "Heart Of Steel  Records/Emmeciesse Music Publishing" that produces "From The Ground Floor" launching it in the worldwide rock market.
Line up:
Erik, vocals
Paco, guitars
Frank,guitars
Blaze, drums
Steve, bass
Track list:
1. Fireyed
2. Big Monkey
3. Rock'n'sex
4. From the Ground Floor
5. Dirty Devil Rock
6. Living in Rock'n'roll
7. Shake Me
8. I'll Be Waiting

DARK AGES NEW ALBUM

Simone Calciolari founded Dark Ages in 1982 together with some friends. After some year spent in forging the band's sound, they recorded the first album, "Saturnalia" in 1991. After the cd was published, a hiatus followed, ending in 1996 with a new line-up and with extensive live tours. Many musicians changed in those years, and this prevented the band from writing new original material. In 2008 the members consolidated, so it was time to lay down a new project: a concept named "Teumman", whose first part has seen the light in may 2011.

"Teumman" is a concept album which stems from the tradition of the classic rock operas, but is set in a long distant past (the characters' names are taken from ancient assyrian culture) and blends metal, progressive, rock and classical music. In "Teumman", the term "opera" is taken very seriously: the characters are well defined and so vivid you can feel them suffer, scream, bleed, the locations are an important part of the story, everything is in line with the melodramatic tradition of the nineteenth century. And this is what we call a true Rock Opera.

Line-up:
Simone Calciolari (guitars)
Davide Cagnata (lead vocal)
Carlo "bam bam" Busato (drums)
Marco Gennari (bass)
Angela Busato (keyboards)

TRACK LIST:
1 – Overture
2 – Battlefield
3 - The Fall
4 – Hell

7 - New Life
8 – Arrival
9 - The Palace
10 - Drop Of Rain
11 – Scared

The Rebel Wheel rolls into ProgDay w/guest Guy LeBlanc!

From Ottawa, Canada, THE REBEL WHEEL began in the early 1990s out of a shifting cooperative of musicians working in a myriad of styles producing both improvised and arranged music. Early work tended towards neo-prog, but over the years the band pursued a more aggressive and edgy direction that eventually evolved into the sound they have today. Steeped in dark, cinematic soundscapes and complex turn-on-a-dime arrangements, sometimes dissonant, sometimes mellow, always eclectic, their musical landscape has been compared to WETTON-era KING CRIMSON, ZAPPA, RUSH, PINK FLOYD, and at times even YES and GENESIS. But in the end their personality is all their own.

Recently working and gigging as a three-piece while ANGIE MACIVOR is on hiatus with the birth of her first child, THE REBEL WHEEL have expanded their lineup for ProgDay to include guest keyboardist-extraordinare GUY LeBLANC, acclaimed for his work with NATHAN MAHL and CAMEL. We're sure this special show will be a treat for fans of both THE REBEL WHEEL and Guy LeBlanc.

THE REBEL WHEEL joins UŽ JSME DOMA (Czech Republic), PANZERBALLETT (Germany), QUANTUM FANTAY (Belgium) and FIBONACCI SEQUENCE (US) at this year's ProgDay, the longest running progressive rock festival in the world. ProgDay's 17th edition will take place on Saturday, September 3, and Sunday, September 4 at Storybook Farm in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. For more information, and to hear music from all of this year's bands, please visit us at www.progday.net.

NeWBReeD - premiere of the album and new video clip!

"NewBreed", the third full-length album of the Polish progressive metal band NeWBReeD, is released in Europe today (on 9th August in USA). The band's brand new video, which was shot for the song "How It Was to Be", has also its premiere today. You can watch the video on Metal Mind Productions' official channel on YouTube.

The band shot the video practically by themselves. The production and camera was handled by Stanislaw Wolonciej, NeWBReeD's drummer and the band leader's brother, with the help of Jarek Gacek and his colleague cameraman Szymon Twardak. It was shot at a local club Rudeboy. Tomasz Wolonciej explains: "We wanted it to be clear and simple, but also dynamic - the kind of a video that would just show us playing, emphasize the song itself and show how we express ourselves live. That's why there's a lot of slow motion and some chaotic movement. The song itself is very diverse - it features a lot of elements which are further elaborated on the rest of the album. There are heavy rhythmical guitars as well as some lighter passages, flavored with electronica and trip hop... There are some delicate vocals as well as multi-vocal parts."

NeWBReeD's third studio album  entitled simply "NEWBREED" features over 45 minutes of outstanding metal music, influenced by such bands as Alice In Chains, Opeth, Mastodon, Katatonia, Faith No More and even Dillinger Escape Plan. It features guest appearances by the acclaimed Polish musicians - Tomasz "Lipa" Lipnicki (Lipali, ex-Illusion) and Wacek "Vogg" Kiełtyka (Decapitated). The band's singer and guitarist Tomasz Wołonciej talks about NeWBReeD's new album: "It is with pleasure that we announce that after a long wait our new album will be released by Metal Mind Productions. It took us over a year to prepare the material and that's why we entitled it simply "NewBreed". Our joy is all the greater since it's going to be released by an experienced label. The album features 10 songs - heavy, rhythmical but also full of melody and space. We wanted to record something different - and I think we managed to do just that. I believe that our album constitutes a modern look on the metal music - especially the progressive kind. I believe that being "progressive" means being unpredictable, out of the ordinary...we want to be different - we always did. We hope you enjoy the material."

The release date of the album is set up for 20th June in Europe and 9th August in USA (via MVD).

Tracklist:

1. How It Was To Be
2. The Forever Spring
3. Safety
4. When I Admire The World
5. After All This Time
6. Long Time Desired
7. An Answer Without Any Words
8. In A Better World
9. Another Home In You
10. Hope That You're Alright

TOTO - OFFICIAL BIOGRAPHY

In 1976, drummer Jeff Porcaro and keyboardist David Paich, two seasoned Los Angeles-based session musicians, renowned for their work with Steely Dan and Boz Scaggs, decided to trim back their session work and form a band of their own. Jeff and David brought in guitarist Steve Lukather and Keyboardist Steve Porcaro.  David Hungate joined as bass guitarist and Bobby Kimball, a singer from Louisiana, was brought in on lead vocals.

After 30 years of playing music together, TOTO released their 12th and most recent studio album, Falling In Between, which, subsequently, receivedrave reviews.  The album was a true representation of years of musical and life experiences unmatched by most of their colleagues and contemporaries in the music world.  What set Toto apart, was their steadfast adherence to their unique musical vision.

TOTO approach each project with an equal dose of seriousness and humor. Falling In Between was a tongue in cheek, self-deprecating view of their fate as a band that appears to never quite fit into your typical mold, falling in between genres of music, in between the cracks of conglomerate label mergers and takeovers, restrictive radio formats and in between the notice of many music critics who misunderstand what and who Toto are.

Who TOTO are, depends entirely on who you ask. Most are aware of TOTO's history dating back to 1978 with their eponymous debut album, which spawned the hit Hold The Line.  Thanks to their fourth album, aptly titled IV, Toto enjoyed enormous worldwide success with four hit singles including Rosanna and Africa. Whereas the former reached No.2 in the American singles chart, Africa hit the top spot. The album also won the Grammy Award for "Best Album of the Year" and Rosanna won the coveted "Best Record of the Year" award in 1982. Additionally, many songs continue to be sampled by other artists inspiring additional hits such as Jay-Z's use of "Africa" and Roger Sanchez' #1 UK hit "Another Chance" which sampled " I Wont Hold You Back.

TOTO had several hits thereafter selling over 30 million records worldwide and performing in sold out arenas. Nonetheless, many stateside critics panned their success chalking it up to their good musical genes, vast body of session work, and criticized TOTO for several personnel changes over the years.

Although the spotlight in the US may have faded, what remained strong was a very loyal fan base throughout Europe and the rest of the world that has lasted for nearly three decades and crossed generations of new fans.

On August 5, 1992, only a short time before the start of the tour for the Kingdom of Desire album tragedy struck. Jeff Porcaro, while spraying a pesticide in his garden at home, suffered a severe allergic reaction to the chemicals and died from a heart attack. The band, Jeff's family, friends, fans, and the worldwide music community mourned the passing of a man, who was not only one of the greatest drummers of his generation, but was, as Lukather has consistently said, "a true soul brother" and an incredibly giving and selfless individual.

When Jeff Porcaro unexpectedly passed away, TOTO were confronted with whether or not the band should go on. With the Kingdom of Desire Tour just around the corner and their resolve shaken, TOTO decided to go ahead with the tour because they felt that Jeff would have wanted them to. In selecting a drummer to replace Jeff, the band decided that they wanted someone who would put their own signature to the TOTO sound rather than try to copy Jeff. Steve Lukather suggested Simon Phillips, whom he had remembered from the Beck / Santana Tour. Phillips bravely accepted the task of filling in for Jeff on the Kingdom of Desire Tour.

Flash forward to 1999, TOTO set new standards in tour production with their Mindfields tour. Toto built a strong touring presence year after year in just about every corner of the world. The band demonstrated a sincere love and respect for multiple styles and genres of music that enabled them to deftly cross over and play just about anything.

This led to TOTO being twice invited as headliners of the extremely popular Night of The Proms concert series in Europe, which combines popular with classical music. Visited by more than 600,000 people in 2003, the experience of the shows inspired TOTO to stretch out even further and play a series of shows with various symphonic orchestras. This is what makes them different and fascinating, and why TOTO has outlasted many of their fellow artists.

Despite many set-backs and obstacles TOTO persevered, and welcomed many other musicians to participate, collaborate, and fill in when it was needed or wanted over the years.

In the year 2000, the nucleus of TOTO reunified with the return of original lead singer, Bobby Kimball back into the fold with Steve Lukather (guitar, vocals), David Paich (keyboards, vocals), bassist Mike Porcaro (bass) and Simon Phillips (drums). Never shying away from a great addition to the team in favor of ego, Toto welcomed former Michael Jackson keyboardist and vocalist, Greg Phillinganes, into the fold.

Six years later, when TOTO released their last studio album, Falling In Between in 2006, Steve Lukather said, "From its inception, the album has been a labor of love and a team effort. Falling In Between is fresh, heavier, at times more progressive.  It features some great songs and melodies that embody the classic Toto imprint."

Fans found more than a few surprises on the record such as former member Steve Porcaro, former singer Joseph Williams' cameo on a duet with Steve Lukather and special guests including Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull), the Chicago horn section, Jason Scheff, L. Shenkar (Peter Gabriel), legendary percussionist Lenny Castro, saxophonist Tom Scott, and Roy Hargrove.

TOTO brought their personal best into this project and invited many friends to participate. The result was a record that was a team effort and a joy to make. "If this is the last record we make (and I hope it won't be)," remarked Lukather, "at least we can walk away knowing we threw down the best we had."

To commemorate the tour, TOTO released the double live album Falling In Between Live, which represented their fourth live album, following 1993's Absolutely Live, 1999's Livefields and 2003's Live In Amsterdam.  A companion DVD of the concert, filmed in Paris in March 2007, was eventually released in 2008.

Later that same year, on June 5th, after 32 years playing together, Toto officially disbanded.  At that time, with Lukather being the only original member left (Bobby Kimball was also an original member, but was out of the band from 1984–1998 and with David Paich retiring from touring back in 2005), Lukather felt it was time to call it quits.

TOTO sold over 30 million records, and toured the world ten times. The band and its individual members have recorded with and wrote for artists including Michael Jackson, Steely Dan, Santana, Stevie Wonder, Miles Davis, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Quincy Jones, Paul McCartney, Joe Satriani, Lionel Richie, Don Henley, Alice Cooper and many more.

In October 2009, the individual founding musicians of TOTO were inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame. Steve Lukather, David Paich, Steve Porcaro and David Hungate were present, with Mike Porcaro's and Jeff Porcaro's family members accepting their awards in absentia.

On February 26, 2010, TOTO reunited for a brief tour of Europe in the summer to benefit Mike Porcaro, who has ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).  The lineup featured David Paich, Steve Lukather, Steve Porcaro, Simon Phillips, Joseph Williams and special guest Nathan East.

"With Mike not being well," said Lukather, "and some of us missing each other, the real high school friends decided to get back together for the right reason."  Continues Lukather, "People wanted to hear the hits played the way they were recorded.  We thought it would be fun to perform a few gigs once in a while, and the fans would love it as well."

Lukather also said that they went on with Joseph Williams because they wanted to try something different and that he didn't have any bad feelings towards Bobby Kimball. TOTO will continue with the current line-up.

On Tuesday June 21st, Toto start their European tour at Forest National in Brussels, Belgium.

On Sunday July 17th, TOTO's concert at Castello Scaligero Di Villafranca in Verona, Italy, will be filmed for an upcoming DVD and bonus CD, be released in October 2011.

TONY MACALPINE TO RELEASE NEW SELF-TITLED SOLO ALBUM

He's been a producer, band member and solo artist. Guitarist Tony MacAlpine, in his 25-year career, has redefined hard rock jazz-fusion for a generation of progressive-minded music fanatics. Whether it's with the groundbreaking prog-rock band Planet X (with Derek Sherinian of Dream Theater), the jazz-fusion super-group CAB or the band of another guitar hero Steve Vai, MacAlpine has set the bar exceedingly high.

On June 21, this most anticipated all-instrumental masterpiece Tony MacAlpine (Favored Nations Entertainment) will be released, his 13 solo album (and 26th album over-all). The album contains 12 tracks of complex, intricate heavy music that demands concentration. It is a true solo album in every sense of the word. Drummers Virgil Donati and Marco Minnemann, as well as bassist Philip Bynoe are utilized on various tracks. MacAlpine plays everything else: seven-string guitar, eight-string guitar, keyboards, bass and programming.

Written and recorded at "The Cottage" studio in Pasadena, California, MacAlpine has blended jazz-fusion, metal, prog and rock'n'roll into a tightlywound trip of mammoth proportions. "My music is instrumental guitaroriented heavy rock with a fusion flair," he explains. "Having started with classical piano since the age of five, I've been exposed to many genres and styles from contemporary to the Romantic and Classical periods. This early development helped me define my writing and improvisation which is evident in my sound today. My guitar playing encompasses many different styles, with an emphasis on composition and theater."

As with any true artist, change is the only constant. As he says, "In my 25 year career, my sound and artistic output has continually evolved, because I'm always striving to discover new ways to express myself through the music. Although this album is identifiably me, in recent years I've been working with younger modern players, and have been aware of some of the newer musical trends going on. Those elements inspired the sounds and compositional direction of the new record."

JD Malone & the Experts “Avalon” Streets July 12

Roots rock that brings to mind the snarl and grit of a young Steve Earle, Tom Petty and John Mellencamp

6/21/2011 - Philadelphia, PA - On the debut release "Avalon" by JD Malone & the Experts you'll find an album of extraordinary roots rock that brings to mind the snarl and grit of a young Steve Earle, Tom Petty and John Mellencamp. This release also features a 37 minute DVD documentary of the band in studio rehearsals for the recording of the album and is accompanied by a 12-page, full-color booklet with all lyrics and personal bios of each member in the band. The 13 songs include the first radio single, "Just Like New" and a slammin' cover version of "Fortunate Son" (CCR). The album was recorded at Studio 4 in Conshohocken, PA with legendary Grammy winning engineer Phil Nicolo and executive producer Dean Sciarra (ItsAboutMusic.com). The CD version includes 5 bonus tracks that are not available for download, making the CD a full 79 minutes long.

JD Malone, a Dad, husband, son, brother, friend, singer/songwriter and recovering philosopher was born and raised under a bright blue sky in the small town of Bennington in the Green Mountain State of Vermont. He writes and sings songs about love and hate, angels and demons and the universal struggle to feel safe under the stars.

On their new album, Avalon, JD Malone and The Experts are not out to invent something, but they sure go a long way towards perfecting it, as only experts do.  Stylistically, the band's music is the sort that you might hear at a backwoods VFW Hall on a Saturday night, drawing on the radio-friendly catalogues of classic American roots-rockers like Creedence Clearwater Revival.  Except JD Malone & The Experts are no lame cover band butchering Proud Mary.

They are a rock-solid band with a dynamic leader, singer and songwriter in JD Malone (imagine, say, Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street Band if they played modified country music), and their songs, as instantly recognizable as they may seem, are all Malone originals (with the exception of excellent covers of Fogerty's Fortunate Son on the CD and Tom Petty's "I Should Have Known It" on the bonus live in-studio DVD).  While JD Malone is clearly in charge, much of Avalon's appeal comes from the remarkable chemistry of the band, including Malone (vocals, acoustic guitar), Avery Coffee (electric guitars, bg vocals), Tom Hampton (pedal and lap steel, 12-string, acoustic, resonator & electric guitars, bg vocals), Jim Miades (bass), Tommy Geddes (drums), and the extraordinary guest vocals of Jayda Hampton (especially on the beautifully wrenching Black Yodel).

They sound like they've been preparing for this moment all their lives, listening to the Everly Brothers, CCR, BoDeans, Allman Brothers, Tom Petty, et al, and crafting songs and a sound that their heroes would be proud of.  The band is both tight (well-rehearsed but not rigid) and loose (spontaneous-sounding, not sloppy), placing equal emphasis on vocal and instrumental prowess with a good dose of twang.  You'll want to cruise down the road with the windows open singing at the top of your lungs as if you were discovering Proud Mary for the first time on your car radio.

Live From Tokyo explores Tokyo's thriving music scene of extremes

Good Charamel Records To Release
Live From Tokyo DVD + Bonus Digital Music Download of Soundtrack on August 23rd

Film Explores Tokyo's Thriving Underground Music Scene
Where Musical Ideas Are Pushed To The Extreme

Portion Of Proceeds To Be Donated To The
Red Cross Tsunami Relief Fund In Japan
Live From Tokyo takes the viewer through the back streets in Shinjuku, the intersections in Shibuya, the alleys in Koenji, and all over Tokyo, as it highlights the innovative musicians that create the multi-faceted underground music scene.
Welcome to a world where ideas and genres are pushed to their extremes, with the general sentiment that there is new music waiting to be created.

Directed by U.S. filmmaker Lewis Rapkin, this fascinating documentary looks at Tokyo's music culture as a reflection of Japanese society and in relation to international music culture. Tokyo's reputation for an overwhelming variety of global information, media-saturated urban environment and cutting edge innovation, makes it the perfect sample for addressing a new outlook on music culture. We find ourselves well into the generation of hyper-connectivity and information culture. The music industry is transforming and listeners are accessing and treating music in a new way. Barriers that separated music scenes in the past are becoming less relevant as technology continues to connect artists. A new paradigm of music culture is upon us.

The film explores this eccentric music culture set within the back-drop of the modern Japanese megalopolis. Featuring surreal stop-motion animation, interviews and live performances by acts such as Nisennenmondai, Tenniscoats, DMBQ, PARA (Boredoms members), Shugo Tokumaru, Sexy-Synthesizer, Sajjanu, KIRIHITO, d.v.d, Optrum, Uhnellys, Samm Bennett, W. David Marx, Tokyo Pinsalocks and many more.

Audio tracks were donated by many of the bands that appear in the film and were compiled into a soundtrack album which will be included as a free digital download with the purchase of the DVD. A special code will be contained within the package of each DVD allowing the viewer to down¬load the album at no extra charge. A full track listing is to be posted soon at www.GoodCharamel.com

Live from Tokyo will be released on August 23rd on Good Charamel Records with distribution through MVD Visual. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the Live From Tokyo DVD/ALBUM will be donated to the Red Cross Tsunami Relief fund in Japan.

Johnny Winter "Live Rockpalast 1979" and Collectible Figure

Johnny Winter "Live Rockpalast 1979" DVD and Guitar Gods Limited Edition Collectible Figure Arrive July 26

Live Rockpalast 1979 features Johnny and his three piece band live on Germany's famous Rockpalast TV show in 1979... Straight up blues like only Johnny can deliver, lean and mean. Johnny and the band also blaze through some killer covers like the Rolling Stones' "Jumping Jack Flash" and "Suzie Q."

Of this program, guitar journalist Sean McDevitt writes:

Johnny Winter had nothing to prove by the time April of 1979 arrived. Thirty-five years old, he was an established international star and already a decade removed from his seminal 1969 debut-a groundbreaking record followed by an unforgettable appearance at Woodstock, scores of sold-out arenas, a well documented stint in drug rehabilitation, and a steady stream of celebrated albums.

But as this performance makes clear, Winter's musical soul wasn't entirely at peace the night he stepped before a massive audience in Essen, Germany, to record a performance for the popular German television program Rockpalast ("Rock Palace"). The Texan, armed with his Gibson Firebird was on a mission to reaffirm for his audience-including millions watching the broadcast across Europe-his devotion to the blues, the music that consumed him as a young man during the 1950s and '60s but was later cast aside as rock stardom beckoned.

The proof can be found in the night's setlist: "Hideaway," the guitar workout made famous by Freddie King, kicks things off. It's followed by "Messin' with the Kid," a staple of Chicago harp master Junior Wells. "Walkin' by Myself," co-penned by another Chicago great, Jimmy Rogers, follows.

But it's not just what Winter plays that tells the tale; it's what he says. "I hope there's some people out there that get off on blues," he offers. "I know we've got a lot of rock and rollers. But you've gotta remember that if it wasn't for the blues, there wouldn't be no rock and roll."

And with that, the master goes deep into the Delta, unleashing a breathtaking, 17-minute reading of Willie Brown's "Mississippi Blues," an undeniable highlight of this unforgettable night. Winter follows up with Sleepy John Estes' "Divin' Duck" before attacking Dale Hawkins' "Susie Q."

Ever gracious, on "I'm Ready," Johnny picks up a bass as his bassist fires away on guitar. The arrangement continues for "Rockabilly Boogie," a joyous performance replete with some crowd-pleasing showmanship. But then it's back to the blues.

"Well I know I'm fighting a losing battle, but I'm gonna to try to do some more blues," Winter says. "I hope there's somebody out there that might understand what that is and might want to hear a little bit of it."And with that, Johnny delivers a master class medley that leads off with Robert Johnson's "Stones in My Passway."

The artist finally throws a bone to the rock enthusiasts with a cover of the Rolling Stones' "Jumpin' Jack Flash." But it's best to think of this offering as a reward, not a concession. Johnny Winter's statement on this night had long since been made.

Also, arriving next month is the first figure in the Guitar Gods series... None other than the legendary master blues guitarist Johnny Winter.

The figure is limited to 1500 numbered units, stands at 7 inches tall, and is made of a lightweight poly resin.

Displayed in a window box, here Johnny is not only accurately sculpted right down to his signature black hat, boots, and guitar, but also has movement at both the arm and head, and yells "Rock N' Roll" at the push of a button! Click HERE to listen to the sound clip...

Ex-Yes singer Jon Anderson says Roger Dean should receive credit for 'Avatar'

Fans of the superstar British progressive rock group Yes have pointed out many visual similarities between the blockbuster movie Avatar and the artwork of Roger Dean , who provided the cover art for such classic Yes albums as Fragile , Close to the Edge and Tales From Topographic Oceans. In a new interview with Examiner.com former Yes front man Jon Anderson commented on the matter for the first time, saying, "He should have gotten a name check on the movie."

NewBreed - third studio album out on Monday!

On the 20th of June, Metal Mind Productions will release a brand new album of the progressive metal band NeWBReeD. The self-entitled album features over 45 minutes of outstanding metal music, influenced by such bands as Alice In Chains, Opeth, Mastodon, Katatonia, Faith No More and even Dillinger Escape Plan. It features guest appearances by the acclaimed Polish musicians - Tomasz "Lipa" Lipnicki (Lipali, ex-Illusion) and Wacek "Vogg" Kiełtyka (Decapitated). On the band's official MySpace site you can find the song "How It Was to Be" which is promoting the upcoming release.

The release date is set up for 20th June in Europe and 9th August in USA (via MVD).

Gary Wright on UK tour with 'Ringo Starr's All Starr Band'

Gary Wright, known for the hit singles "Dream Weaver" and "Love Is Alive", will perform with 'Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band' on his UK tour which starts Friday June 17th at Hampton Court. 2011 celebrates the 35th anniversary of Wright's album "The Dream Weaver".

When the album was released in 1976, Wright toured extensively with Fleetwood Mac, Yes and Peter Frampton. Now, with the release of "Connected", his first album in 20 years, Wright showcases a collection of songs that captures the joyous magic of his all-time classic hits. "Satisfied", the new single, features Ringo Starr (drums), Joe Walsh (lead guitar), and Jeff "Skunk" Baxter (rhythm guitar).

Formerly the  lead singer of the British progressive blues rock band Spooky Tooth (1967-1974), American-born Wright embarked on a solo career in 1975, and was one of the first classic rock musicians to combine synthesizers with rock and funk.

Returning to the stage for the 2011 tour are the six All Starr band members who toured with Ringo in 2010:

Rick Derringer is a noted rock guitarist, vocalist and entertainer who was just 17 when his band The McCoys recorded the No.1 hit 'Hang On Sloopy' in 1965, knocking 'Yesterday' by The Beatles from the top spot. He later played with both Edgar Winter and Johnny Winter and had considerable success with his hit single 'Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo' and with his eponymous band Derringer. Throughout the 70's and 80's he appeared on albums with Alice Cooper, Richie Havens, Todd Rundgren, Cyndi Lauper, Barbra Streisand, Kiss and Steely Dan.  Derringer discovered Weird Al Yankovic, producing music for Grammy-winning albums and videos and the 2006 Grammy Awards brought Rick his third Grammy with his participation on the Les Paul 90th birthday tribute CD.

Gary Wright - over the course of his 40-year career which began in the UK with the rock band Spooky Tooth, Wright is hailed as a pioneer who utilized synthesizers in pop music.  His name is synonymous with his worldwide hits 'Dream Weaver' and 'Love Is Alive'. Gary has inspired generations of artists including Jay-Z, Chaka Khan, Anastacia, Joan Osbourne, Judas Priest, Eminem, Mya, Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes, and DJ Armand Van Helden all of whom have either sampled or covered his songs. Gary's world-unifying vision and musical prowess are evident on 'Connected' - his first pop-rock album for 20 years. Gary joined the All Starr Band in 2008.

Richard Page is best known as the singer/bassist for the multi-platinum, Grammy nominated group Mr. Mister. In the late 70's and early 80's Richard recorded three albums under the moniker of Pages with Steve George. The pair formed Mr Mister in the mid 80s. The band released three albums and had several world-wide hits, including 'Broken Wings' and 'Kyrie'. They split in 1990 and a fourth Mr Mister album, 'PULL' remained unreleased for 20 years. Recently re-mastered, the album is now available on Richard's own label, Little Dume Records. Page has recorded two solo albums, 'Shelter Me' and 'Peculiar Life', as well as providing backing vocals for Elton John, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Barbara Streisand and Elvis Costello. As a songwriter Page has had his songs recorded by Madonna, Leona Lewis, Josh Groban, Celine Dion and Hall & Oates.

Wally Palmar, lead vocalist, harmonica, rhythm guitar player, and founding member of The Romantics, is amongst one of the most recognized voices of the 80's. The group's self-titled debut album yielded the hit 'What I Like About You', which carries on throughout the decades. Other singles include, 'When I Look In Your Eyes', 'One in a Million', and the international hit 'Talking In Your Sleep'.  The Romantics are continuously being re-introduced to new generations today via the extensive airplay on contemporary, rock and satellite radio, commercials and movie soundtracks. Never content to simply rest on his red-leathered laurels, Palmar continues to write, record and tour with The Romantics.

Edgar Winter is an accomplished jazz, rock and blues keyboard player and saxophonist as well as a vocalist who found success in the early 70s and has continued to record throughout the 80s, 90s and 00s. Edgar has worked with guitarists Rick Derringer and Ronnie Montrose as well as his older brother Johnny Winter (a noted blues rock guitarist). In 1972 Edgar had a #1 hit with 'Frankenstein', taken from his acclaimed album 'They Only Come Out At Night'. Edgar also enjoyed great success with the hit 'Free Ride' as well as 'Dying To Live' which Eminem produced for the hit movie 'Tupac'.  Winter's songs have appeared on soundtracks to over 20 films.

Gregg Bissonette is a drummer and vocalist who comes from a musical family, where his father was also a drummer, his mother a pianist, brother a bass player and sister a violinist. Gregg played on three albums by former Van Halen vocalist David Lee Roth, with the first 'Eat 'Em And Smile' one of the most acclaimed rock albums of the mid 80s. Since then Gregg has recorded and toured with a number of artists, including Toto, ELO, Santana, Andrea Bocelli, The Maynard Ferguson Big Band, Spinal Tap and James Taylor. Having first worked and toured with Ringo Starr in 2003, Gregg's been an All Starr member since 2008, making this his third All Starr tour.
