Nosound announce new EP 'At The Pier' featuring Chris Maitland (ex-Porcupine Tree)

Nosound are currently working on their new album, due to be released in 2013. Ahead of this release comes At The Pier, a new EP which features three brand new tracks. For the tracks Nosound are joined by Marianne De Chastelaine on cello and Chris Maitland, formerly of Porcupine Tree and Blackfield, on drums. Chris, who will be playing on all of the tracks on the new album, adds a new dimension to the Nosound dynamic through his powerful and inventive drumming as frontman Giancarlo Erra explains when describing the tracks that make up At The Pier:

In general I would say that The Anger Song is a more rough and bleak song than usual Nosound, probably even more powerful and 'angry'. A New Start is more Nosound but almost uplifting in a melancholic way, majestic in music with more twisted lyrics, with a mix of blues and postrock all packed in a song. Two Monkeys is based around piano, upright bass and sampled strings, with deep meaningful lyrics for a different type of piano song to previous Nosound and featuring Marianne De Chastelaine's cello.

At The Pier is a strictly limited digipack release. All pre-orders from the Kscope store will receive an exclusive Nosound guitar pick (1.0mm)

Tracklist
1. The Anger Song
2. A New Start
3. Two Monkeys (alt. version)

Dutch progband 21 Eyes of Ruby release new song Antidote

21 Eyes of Ruby releases new song as showcase

Progressive rockband 21 Eyes of Ruby will release their new song 'Antidote' on Sunday October the 21st. This track which lasts over 14 minutes is a result of the pre-production sessions for 'Conquer The World pt. 6'. However, it came out so well that the band decided to release the song online. Using 'Antidote' as a showcase, the band is looking for a producer and label for the yet to be recorded new album.

Guitarist/vocalist Antoine 'Tuwann' Pütz: "This past year we've written songs for 'Conquer The World pt. 6'. Even though we have produced our two previous albums ourselves, we feel that this material is so complex that we would gladly cooperate on this album. Naturally we are looking for an experienced producer."

Bassist Stef van de Kerkhof, who joined the band in the autumn of 2011, will be heard for the first time on these recordings. Drummer Martijn Soeterbroek: "It is also because of this that we wanted to release something, for ourselves and our fans. Consider it an update. We've had a rough period. 'Antidote' is proof that we are still alive and kicking. Oh, and more progressive than ever."

'Antidote' will be available on the band's Soundcloudpage from the 21st of October.

ALIAS EYE - Phil Griffiths leaves the band

Even though Phil is on the mend (his back is much better!) he will not be returning as lead vocalist of alias eye. In the past years, Phil has become increasingingly frustrated with the music industry as a whole and feels he doesn't have the energy or dedication necessary to continue. Although we are very sad to see him go, we fully support his decision and want to thank him for the years we spent together as a band. Alias Eye will continue to make music; we have found a vocalist - his name is Dieter Reusch and we'd like to welcome him to the alias eye family. Our first goal is to organise the CD Release Party we had to cancel in spring. We'll keep you posted on developments!

'III' THE NEW ALBUM FROM SHINY TOY GUNS OUT ON FIVE SEVEN MUSIC

FALL HEADLINING TOUR LAUNCHED IN SAN FRANCISCO

VIDEO FOR "FADING LISTENING" FEATURING TINY TOY GUNS

PREMIERED TODAY ON VEVO

BAND FEATURED IN VIRGIN AMERICA "EXPERIENCE" CAMPAIGN WITH BILLBOARDS THROUGHOUT LOS ANGELES, SAN FRANCISCO, DALLAS, BOSTON AND CHICAGO NOW

After much anticipation, Los Angeles electro-rock outfit SHINY TOY GUNS have released their new album III yesterday, Monday, October 22 (Five Seven Music).  It features the first new material by the original line-up in five years.

Production on III, courtesy of Mirror Machines (the band's Chad Petree and Jeremy Dawson), is lush and dramatic, ranging from driving tracks like the first single due January 2013 "Somewhere To Hide," "Waiting Alone" and "Speaking Japanese" into a sonic pendulum swing to the genre bending current release "Fading Listening."  The band teamed up with legendary mixer Tony Maserati (Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys) to finalize and sharpen the new 2012 sound of the band.  Unlike any other group out there today, SHINY TOY GUNS music is driving rock and electro spearheaded by a male and female vocal courtesy of Chad Petree and Carah Faye.

Today (October 23), VEVO premiered the video for "Fading Listening" starring Tiny Toy Guns, a play on the band recording the song as kids.  Carah Faye is played by Ally Petree, eight year old daughter of Chad Petree.  Chad Petree is played by Jesse McClintock, son of GUNS longtime indie music publisher Steve McClintock. Drummer Mikey Martin is played by Maximus Morse, son of Toby Morse, singer of punk/hardcore band H20.  Jeremy Dawson on keyboards is played by Noah Castro, the six year old son of friends of Mikey Martin.  The two girls engineering at the mixing desk are Isabella Petree (age 6) and Stevie Jane Petree (age 5), daughters of Steven Petree ex-member of SHINY TOY GUNS and brother of Chad Petree.  The studio owner in played by Tony Maserati.

In conjunction with the album's release, the band-Carah Faye (vocals), Chad Petree (vocals/guitar), Jeremy Dawson (keyboards/bass) and Mikey Martin (drums)-launch a nine-date headlining tour in San Francisco tonight.  They will pass through a variety of markets including Los Angeles, Toronto, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington D.C., New York, Pittsburgh and Chicago consecutively.  At each show, the band will perform a variety of material from the new album as well as SHINY TOY GUNS classics and favorites.

Meanwhile, SHINY TOY GUNS-who is currently featured in the Virgin America "Experience" campaign-can be seen on the airlines major billboards across Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston and Dallas.  The campaign highlights Virgin America 'Originals,' frequent flyers known for shaking up the status quo in their own fields - including SHINY TOY GUNS as well as indie film director Kevin Smith, Pandora founder Tim Westergren, Animal and Son of a Gun chef Vinny Dotolo, Ryan Schreiber of Pitchfork and independent artist/Facebook Creative Strategist Ji Lee just to name a few - inviting them to curate aspects of the airline's already unique in-cabin experience including playlists, film picks and new menu items offered via the touch-screen Red™ in-flight entertainment platform.  The Virgin America "Originals" include more than a few notable iconoclasts in the worlds of tech, design, food and entertainment many of whom also happen to be Elevate frequent flyers.  Check out more at:

Media reaction to SHINY TOY GUNS III:

"The band's taut synth-pop and bombastic melodies are a welcome return..."

--Korina Lopez, USA Today, (9/20/12)

"Carah Faye Charnow rejoining Shiny Toy Guns was the best thing to happen to the Los Angeles band. III features the type of effortless electro-pop which made the act's 2006 debut, We Are Pilots, so irresistible. (Perhaps not so coincidentally, that was the last album on which Charnow appeared.) Gigantic, melancholy choruses lift up standouts 'Carrie' and 'The Sun'; the danceable 'Somewhere To Hide' is full of chic new-wave signifiers; and 'Speaking Japanese' is a hybrid of No Doubt's brash synth-punk and Sleigh Bells' cheerleader brattiness...the oceanic, pulsating love song 'If I Lost You' and 'Fading Listening'-which resembles a synth-pop cover of a Fleetwood Mac tune-are sublime."

-Annie Zaleski, Alternative Press (October)

"The quartet reunites for a joyful journey through electro-pop-rock, which sees vocalist Faye giving it her all and STG as a whole upping the musical stakes."

--Angus Thomas Paterson, ELEKTRO (Fall 2012)

"Shiny Toy Guns has been out of the limelight for awhile, but is finally making a long awaited resurgence...III is an emphatic return to the vibrant synthpop of the band's 2006 debut, 'We are Pilots.'  Opening rave-up 'Somewhere to Hide,' one of the best cuts the band has ever recorded, is sure to get concert audiences on their feet. The menacing 'Speaking Japanese,' with its sly beats and Charnow's Peaches-like delivery, is the closest sonic cousin here to their hit single, 'Le Disko.' III is more sonically advanced than previous records, with widescreen keyboard textures that really pull at the heartstrings...the band's finest album to date."

--Jeff Sistrunk, Outburn, Issue 66

"...the Los Angeles-based quartet is back in action with the super-dreamy 'Fading Listening,' from their upcoming album III. It has some groovy arpeggio-and-padded lines that call to mind Fleetwood Mac's 'Dreams.' I'm also a huge fan of boy-girl harmony, which this track has in spades."

--Mickey Woods, Glamour.com on "Fading Listening" (8/17/12)

"...Shiny Toy Guns is back with its third release, appropriately titled III.  It marks not only singer Carah Faye Charnow's return to the band whose founders were born in Shawnee, but also a return to the New Wave synth-pop sound that made them famous.  The opening trio of 'Somewhere to Hide,' 'Waiting Alone' and 'Carrie' are just as synthsational as the band has ever been. 'Carrie' is especially strong, evoking that '80s-pop feel most tastefully, making for the strongest track since 2006's 'You Are the One.'  'Fading Listening' recalls - oddly enough - the chillwave mall pop Toro Y Moi and Washed Out currently are putting their own spins on, and it's followed by a signature STG anthem, 'The Sun,' that's solid enough."

-- Joshua Boydston, The Gazette (Oklahoma), (10/18/12)

"Way back in 2006, I stumbled across the debut album by Shiny Toy Guns and fell in love. What was this bewitching blend of lectronic, rock, and Pure Moods-appropriate elegance? How could one band veer from a sassy banger like 'Le Disko' to an epic, emotional anthem like 'Don't Cry Out?' How did they do it?...I just heard 'Waiting Alone,' the new single from Shiny Toy Guns' new album III, and I am ready to rekindle the flame. And hey, look! Charnow's back as the lead singer! And the compelling mixture of somber emotion and catchy dance beats is still in place!"

--Mark Blankenship, NewNowNext (7/25/12)

"Sure, there are some standout rock tracks like the crunchy and sassy 'Speaking Japanese' and the propulsive 'The Sun.' But for the most part, the band explores its ethereal side with amazing results. 'Carrie' and 'Fading Listening' are excellently crafted new-wave tracks. 'Wait For Me' and 'If I Lost You' are both hauntingly romantic epics. 'Take Me Back To Where I Was' is an uncharacteristically stripped down piano balled devoid of electronic wizardry...Shiny Toys Guns is still able to turn out some brilliant songs."

- Larry Nichols, Philadelphia Gay News, (9/7/12)

"It erased all previous notions of what the band was about. The song is automatic and I've gotten a very strong response from our listeners when I play it."

-Jason Bentley, Morning Becomes Eclectic, KCRW on "Fading Listening"

Dutch Rock Legends Focus To Undertake Worldwide Tour In Support Of Forthcoming CD Release 'Focus X'

Much to the excitement of music fans across the planet, Dutch rock legends Focus will be undertaking a worldwide tour beginning November 2012 in support of their forthcoming CD 'Focus X'. With their unique brand of progressive rock, Focus manifested themselves at the start of the '70s as the most successful and appreciated of all the Dutch pop-rock exports. Fronted by founding member Thijs Van Leer, and best known for their hits "Hocus Pocus", "House of The King" and "Sylvia", as well as critically acclaimed albums 'Moving Waves', 'Focus 3' and 'Hamburger Concerto', the iconic Dutch music masters are back with their tenth album, which is guaranteed to please their legions of fans!

After a comeback in the early 2000's, which resulted in the well-received albums 'Focus 8' and 'Focus 9', the band regrouped with a fantastic new line-up. Internationally renowned for his rhythmic skills, Pierre remains a defining factor in the Focus sound. Bassist Bobby Jacobs, who comes from a well-acclaimed Dutch musical family and guitarist Menno Gootjes, who participated in Focus at an earlier stage, completes the band's current line-up. Recently, Focus's biggest hit "Hocus Pocus" was used in a 4-minute Nike commercial before the World Cup broadcast. Focus music can be regularly heard on Top Gear and Saxondale TV.

A new Focus era has arrived! There is a rejuvenated passion in the new compositions that adorn the new album 'Focus X', which features a full scale Roger Dean painting on the cover. Showdown Boulevard 'Digital Only'

Showdown Boulevard is a brand new dynamic project in the Italian sleaze, rock n' roll scene created by key former members of important past bands such as A-Pon74, Warnipples, Jailhawks.

The musicians involved, Andy Pontremoli, Stevie Anders and Manguss, got together in early months of 2012 to create their own sound as they did in their previous bands. Andy and Stevie shared common ground in A-Pon74 in 2011 and some of the tracks already written in that period are now shining with the new energy and vibe that Showdown Boulevard are able to create.

The band released its first self produced CD "Showdown Boulevard" on September 2012, promoted by Two Side Moon (Swansea, Wales, GB).

Line-up:

Stevie Anders, as known as "The Screamer" is an Italian/American hard rock singer (his grandparents emigrated to the USA before his birth). Lyricist and co-songwriter, he collaborated to various projects and with several local bands. Even if he didn't took part to many recording sessions he played as guest in many Italian scene rock gigs .

His main influences are : Michael Monroe, Stevie Rachelle (Tuff) Jason Mc Master (Dangerous Toys) Tyla (The Dogs D'Amour) Joe Elliot (Def Leppard). He is currently lead singer for Showdown Boulevard.

Discography:

- Jailhawks - "Straight To Hell" 2005

- The Screamer - "Let It Scream" 2011

- A-Pon74 - "Rustle Up Noise" 2011

Manguss is an italian self-taught guitar player, songwriter, arranger and occasionally singer, bass player and fx programmer. As his main background comes from hard rock music, he's not opposite to explore a lot of different genres since his taste and influences go from rock and metal to pop, hip hop, electronic music, ambient, blues and more.

Sources of great inspiration in Manguss's guitar playing are artists such Jimmy Page, Billy Duffy, Vernon Reid, Rich Robinson, Eddie Hazel, Jimi Hendrix, Duane Allman, Slash, Dr. Know, Eric Clapton and many many others.

He is currently guitar player and back vocalist for the band SHOWDOWN BOULEVARD, guitar player for NG (Northgate), lead vocalist and guitar player for THE LAST COMMAND, guitar/bass player for LIQUID GALAXIES with BROTHA BERRY, guitars, vocals and additional programming for the projects Matrix Meretrix and DC PROJECT and solo project MANGUSS D.C.

DEBUT FOR SYDNEY FOLK SINGER ATLAS B SALVESEN

Atlas B Salvesen is a folk singer at heart and a philosopher of his own head. Born and raised in the Midwestern field state of Iowa, USA there is a ghostly sense of isolation and alienation that permeates his music. He is a lyrically minded songwriter with a scattershot focus that sees him contemplate such divergent subjects as war, love, apocalypse, self-destruction and religion; sometimes in the same song.

His debut EP Smoke Signals which borrows its title from the EP's most adventurous track Smoke Signals Retire, is a melancholic journey between unrequited love and the aftermath of battles within and without. Despite the bombastic energy behind the title track, the journey this debut offers is intimate in nature and this intimacy remains present throughout the tracks.

Produced by Circle's Radi Safi the EP is part Bright Eyes and part Danger Mouse. The single Fruit Juice, which is available for download through Monday Records and Soundcloud is folk pop at its most delicate and adventurous. Atlas currently resides in Sydney, Australia where he persists.

Steve Hackett: "Genesis Revisted II" premiere at Muzo.tv, Tourdates confirmed!

It has crept up rather quickly, but next week sees the release of Steve Hackett's eagerly awaited new Genesis Revisited II album.

In anticipation of the release, MUZU.tv are streaming the entirety of this epic record on their website as a sneak peek. Head over there now and experience it for yourself:

Genesis Revisited II Full Album Stream - Muzu.tv:

http://www.muzu.tv/stevehackett/playlists/album-premiere-steve-hackett--genesis-revisited-ii/1055508/

The eagerly awaited album includes some of the most respected vocalists of our days in Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree), Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth), Simon Collins (Phil Collins' son), Amanda Lehmann, Conrad Keely, Francis Dunnery, Neal Morse, John Wetton, Nad Sylvan and Nik Kershaw; Steve Rothery of Marillion and Roine Stolt of The Flower Kings and Transatlantic also join in to share guitar duties, while Jeremy Stacey and Gary O'Toole are amongst the chosen drummers.

The album will be available in different formats, including a limited edition 2CD Media-book, and a unique 4LP & 2CD version. It's a project of Wagnerian proportions! Steve says. I've remained true to the spirit of the original songs, whilst changing and highlighting details. The vocalists all contribute their own character to the whole.

This time around, I've tried to satisfy what everyone wants, including myself - comments Hackett on his choice for the track list. Initially, I was thinking of just going for the best songs not featured on the first album. But then people thought I should do those tracks where the guitar was emphasized. So, I've done both. I've also included four songs with Genesis threads, most of which were written during the period and had a Genesis feel, such as the co-written 'Shadow of the Hierophant'.

Steve will also be touring Genesis Revisited extensively across the world, with dates already announced in the UK and Germany, more to follow.

A VERY SPECIAL SHOW!

STEVE HACKETT has compiled on his tour a very special production and will bring them to Germany for six concerts! With this tour, the former member of Genesis will be perform the band's repertoire exclusively from the 1971 list to the 1977 period for the first time and summarizes as well as songs that were co-written by Steve Hackett, including classics like 'Supper's Ready', 'Dancing with the Moonlit Knight' and 'The Musical Box' . On tour Nad Sylvan will present on tour some songs as lead singer. These concerts will be an highlight event for every Genesis fan.
