The Next Generation Of Psych Bands Bring A New Mind Expanding Perspective To 12 Classic Beatles Songs

Los Angeles, CA - Their popularity among music fans is undeniable, their status with music critics is unimpeachable, and their influence across a multitude of genres - from pop to rock, world music to country - is thoroughly indisputable. Yet The Beatles' ubiquity makes us forget that there once was a time when this UK band was truly dangerous, a radical cultural force pushing its way into the mainstream to the shock and horror of many. Now, a new generation of psych rock bands seek to bring back that sense of danger to the Beatles' music, taking twelve classic compositions by the Fab Four and filtering them through modern sensibilities to bring a whole new perspective to these celebrated works. The resulting project, The Magical Mystery Psych Out - A Tribute To The Beatles, will be released on both CD and vinyl by Cleopatra Records on March 3.

German acid rockers Electric Moon kick things off with the song that many consider the defining birth of psychedelic rock music, "Tomorrow Never Knows" from Revolver, here given a new depth and sense of urgency with walls of distorted guitars and haunting female vocals. Sugar Candy Mountain chose a rarer tune from the same era, the B-side single "Rain," and came up with a version more sinister yet stealthily hypnotic. The band echoed the thoughts of many artists on the album when they declared that recording a Beatles song is simultaneously "fun and intimidating." Matt Adams, here performing "The Word" as The Blank Tapes, elaborates on this idea saying "The Beatles recordings have always been untouchable to me, but I jumped at the chance to do my own take on one of their songs. I tried staying true to the original but changed some of the sounds and stretched out the ending." Fellow UK acts such as The KVB and The Underground Youth also turn in inspired versions that would make their countrymen proud, and together with US rising stars The Vacant Lots and Strangers Family Band, recreate for modern listeners the thrill that '60s audiences must have felt like hearing such strange, enticing, and far-out sounds for the first time. With an appropriately mind-blowing painting by San Francisco-based artist/illustrator Matt Leunig, The Magical Mystery Psych Out is coming to take you away!

DREAMGRAVE and 'Presentiment'

Progressive dark metal band Dreamgrave released critically acclaimed concept album called 'Presentiment'.

Prog Metal Zone  "This is gonna knock you out! Amazing debut by this dark and at times foreboding band. Very much influenced by bands like Tool and Katatonia but with a strong dark symphonic metal aspect. Great use of female and male (mostly) death vocals too. Dramatic gothic-esque keyboards add tremendous depth to the sound. Seriously, Dreamgrave is one of the best debuts we've heard in a long time and easily one of the best albums of the year."

Metal Underground: This latest release sees the group wrapping progressive and post-rock elements around a core of dark metal with a beauty-and-the-beast presentation of harsh growls and female clean singing. From technical noodling to psychedelic keyboards and more, the full-length has more than a few surprises up its sleeve, and is well worth hearing for fans of progressive metal that loves to play with the boundaries between genres."

Angry Metal Guy: "Great arrangements. Particularly the interplay between the growls and the cleans are extremely good. So keep your eye peeled for @DreamgraveBand."

Exploring the realm of our dreams in some ethereal balance, unrestrained by definable sound, in a daunting storm of emotions. Wrapped in an abstract, distress-filled fantasy the album presents our impressions about our world, our society, ourselves - the reason we are here and ultimately the ending we are headed. The album consists of eight movements

Cover art

The Labyrinth is a creation by Budapest-based artist, Norbert Fekete. Since this is a sort of conceptual recording about human fears, fate and suggest a positive outcome we decided to build the cover around such ideas. The maze totally fits this mindset as it demonstrates hopelessness (by seemingly endless labyrinth, vast walls) and the randomness of our fate (storm on the left, brighter sky on the right) quite well.

Bio

After the unexpected success of the Deadborn Dreams demo the band had troubles finding stable, lasting members. While the search has taken up several years, founder and band leader Dömötör Gyimesi worked on his ideas which eventually became the foundation for the Presentiment LP. In September 2012 he met János Mayer which has not only shifted the songs towards a more progressive approach but became the turning point in the band's history. In September 2013 the band started recording the demos with the beautiful soprano of Mária Molnár. After a lot of hard work the band finally went into the studio to record the Presentiment LP, a concept album consisting of eight progressive dark metal movements.

FINN RELEASE NEW ALBUM "ART & ESPIONAGE"

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK – FEBRUARY 2015:  Two brothers from the land down under have been spending countless hours working on a new blues/pop release that is sure to take listeners by the ear with one listen.  Hailing from Melbourne, Australia the pair (Mark & Luke Finn) performing as FINN have created a sonic experience entitled ART&ESPIONAGE.  A lot went into the making of this release and it had high expectations after their 2011, 15track LP album release "FROM THE WELL".

'Art&Espionage' shows a huge step forward since 2011 showing that the band's potential to expand their sound is evolving into something of major artist caliber. FINN takes the best from their favorite artists and influences such as Eric Clapton, John Mayer, Jeff Buckley, JJ Cale, Bob Dylan, and Johnny Cash.  They are storytellers and do it with ease as you can hear on this new cut.

"Art & Espionage was a reflection of the idea that all great artists are thieves. Good ones borrow, and great ones steal. I think it was Picasso who said that...or maybe T.S. Eliot...who also probably got it from someone else! The aim with this album was to steal from as many of the great artists that we grew up listening too, and make something that was a unique combination of that. Hopefully that comes through, and people can trace the influences, one way or another."  ~FINN

The two stepped into the studio to record at Melbourne's BLACK PEARL STUDIOS with producer Terry Hart of Maestro Productions.  The band brought on Joe Carra of Crystal Mastering to lend his professional ears to the ever so important mastering of the album. With this team something special was created and crafted over those days which would become the album you hear now.  The band took careful consideration picking their first single release off the album and officially will have the track "CITY LIVING" as the kick off track for press consideration.

The band evokes a range of emotions that truly can connect with any listener regardless of social class or gender.  This ability in not only their writing talents but also their impeccable instrumentation truly blends with the lyrics in a symphonic ease - it's just a straight up enjoyable album to listen to. No fluff or anything fake about it, which is what the music industry needs more of these days.  Art&Espionage is a straight cut record that delves into the simplicities of one's life.  FINN's ability to connect with their listeners marks them for a band to be put on your radar for 2015 artist's to watch.

Maybeshewill's Fair Youth released today in North America!

Maybeshewill have their fourth full-length album, Fair Youth, released today in North America via the Superball label. Fair Youth is an overwhelmingly positive record, with the band creating a musical solution to dealing with real world problems and difficulties. Classic Rock Legends Wishbone Ash To Undertake Pilgrimage North America Tour!

Tour to span West Coast, South in April/May 2015

Wishbone Ash, one of the most influential guitar bands in the history of rock, returns to these shores in April 2015 for the first leg of their Pilgrimage North America Tour. Following spring and fall tours in 2014 that featured the group's best-selling "Live Dates" album, this year Wishbone Ash will present classics spanning their 46-year career and showcase selections from their latest release, "Blue Horizon."

After logging more than 20,000 miles touring North America last year, the group will begin their 2015 spring tour in Vancouver, British Columbia, winding down the West Coast of the US and then heading across the South – hitting cities that include Portland, Seattle, Oakland, San Juan Capistrano, Ramona, Phoenix, Austin and Dallas. Visit www.wishboneash.com/tourdates for the complete schedule.

"The 'Live Dates Tour' went just great," says bandleader and founding member Andy Powell. "To play Texas and California out West, and Mississippi in the Deep South, for example, was really nice. You realize just how popular guitar-based rock is in these places. We aim to repeat the experience and build on it this year."

The title of the 2015 tour is a nod to the Wishbone Ash's beloved "Pilgrimage" album, but it's also a fitting way to describe what has become an annual journey filled with familiar faces and places. "Each year when we tour countries on our world circuit, these visits feel like pilgrimages to all our old haunts," says Powell. "We visit venues we've performed in multiple times over the years. We know the staff there, we often stay in the same hotels, visit the same restaurants, we see the same folks thousands of miles apart. The fans, of course, are the major component. We catch up on their stories and their lives."

In 2014, Wishbone Ash released "Blue Horizon" (Solid Rockhouse Records) to international acclaim. Praised for its stylistic variety and masterful performances, the album features guest artist, Ireland's Pat McManus, on fiddle for two tracks. "Blue Horizon" also includes two songs written by Aynsley Powell (Andy Powell's son) and one by former Wishbone Ash guitarist Roger Filgate.

According to Powell, the album's diversity reflects the culmination of several factors. "The band basically lives together year-round, so we have a very strong level of communication that translates in our performances and recordings," he says. "We've come to an era where the industry has to pigeonhole a band as Classic Rock, Prog Rock, Heritage Rock and so on. The truth is that we have always kept our options open and always relied on the musicianship of the players to lead the way. It's fun to be stylistically diverse and this has, in its way, contributed to our longevity."

While they're making pilgrimages to various parts of the globe, Wishbone Ash will undertake some live recording projects, as well: one a vinyl-only limited release direct from Metropolis Studios in Chiswick, London; another to be recorded over a three-day residency at Le Triton in Paris for a DVD release.

Powell also plans to publish his autobiography this fall. "It's quite an undertaking to put 45 years of being a touring musician in this one band into book form," he says.

Formed in 1969, Wishbone Ash has to its credit 24 original studio recordings, 10 live albums and four live DVDs along with a DVD rockumentary ("This is Wishbone Ash"). The band is led by founding member Andy Powell on guitar and vocals, trading licks with Finland's guitar wizard Muddy Manninen. Bassist Bob Skeat, an 18-year veteran of the band and in-demand studio musician, sets the pace with Joe Crabtree, one of the best of Britain's new breed of drummers whose performance credits include Pendragon and David Cross of King Crimson.

Lynyrd Skynyrd cites Wishbone Ash as a primary influence on their style along with Thin Lizzy, Iron Maiden and, more recently, heavyweights like Opeth. All have been transformed by the original, legendary twin-guitar approach of Wishbone Ash. There is no other rock band in history that has done more with the twin guitar concept than The Ash.

Longtime fans and new converts will find that Wishbone Ash offers an undeniable concert experience.

Subversion, Revolver launch "Born of the Sun" music video

SUBVERSION, REVOLVER LAUNCH "BORN OF THE SUN" MUSIC VIDEO
Sophomore album "Animi" out March 3 via Rogue Records America

KENT, UK - U.K. melodic tech metal outfit, Subversion, has teamed up with Revolver to launch a new track and music video, "Born of the Sun," from the band's upcoming sophomore release, Animi, due out March 3 on Rogue Records America. Stream the new video exclusively at: http://www.revolvermag.com/?p=70532

"'Born of the Sun' is a track which took us far too long to finish," guitarist/vocalist, Kai Giritli told Revolver. "It was, in fact, one of the first tracks I started to write, but ended up being one of the last completed. I must have re-wrote the damn thing at least four times, but in the end, it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable tracks to play live, and indeed listen back to. Band favorite? I think so!"

Building upon the band's debut album, Lest We Forget, which released to critical praise from Metal Hammer, Kerrang, Terrorizer, Rock Sound Magazine and more, Subversion describes Animi as "bigger, heavier and sprinkled with a mental amount of epic. We have retained what people loved about the first album and built upon that early foundation in a way that we hope will make you stand back and realize that we are back."

Animi was produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by guitarist/vocalist, Kai Giritli, and artwork comes courtesy of Snovonne Drake (http://www.snovonne.net/snodrakedesign/).

An additional Animi track, "Imperfect," can be streamed on YouTube at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eg98kHzJjVw.

1.  Born of the Sun
2.  Catalyst
3.  Imperfect
4.  Revelation
5.  Illusion of Eternity
6.  Entropy
7.  In Order to Live (Pt. 2)
8.  Pariah
9.  Novation
10.  Animi

Originating from the mind of Kai Giritli in 2008, Subversion has played internationally with the likes of Tesseract, Mnemic, Monuments, Xerath, Hacktivist and Chimp Spanner and has been part of UK Tech Metal Festival and Euroblast Festival.

The five-piece potently blends hard-hitting vocals from front man, Jay Shields, with Giritli's soaring, hook-filled clean singing, guitar riffs that sway from heavy groove to epic melody and laser-tight percussion from drummer, Ben Atkinson. Metal Hammer described the band's debut as "jaw-dropping" while Terrorizer called it "an addictive romp."

Stay tuned for more information on Subversion and Animi, out this March on Rogue Records America.

Desert Suns Sign World-Wide Record Deal with Ripple Music - New Split 12" Vinyl in the Works

Ripple Music is proud to announce the signing of San Diego's Desert Suns to a world-wide deal.  Starting off with a side of vinyl for the upcoming "Second Coming of Heavy" split 12" series that Ripple is unleashing on the world, the alliance between Ripple and Desert Suns is only just beginning.
10984110-1566083060276098-789881082616015488-n.jpg

And the folks at Ripple couldn't be more thrilled.

Where stoner rock, doom, sludge, psychedelic and blues all overlap you get Desert Suns. Formed in 2013 by four hefty dudes with enough hair to challenge Cousin It to a test of anonymity. Soon after forming they released their single "Burning Temples" January of 2014 which helped them to acquire a great fan base and critical raves. "Some of the doomiest riffs that would make one Mr. Iommi a very happy and proud person" says Bill Goodman in his review of the Desert Suns single Burning Temples. Their debut, self-titled album was released later that year and reassured fans that they were no one hit wonder.

Desert Suns have a genuine fluidity and a fresh take on how we hear rock. The band has the ability to rip out some material heavy enough that even Grandma would get headbanging, but they know how to seduce through gritty Americana thanks to well-placed harmonica and purring vocals. From beginning to end, Desert Suns has compelling hooks, an addictive atmospheric energy and heavy, pulsating beats that get blood boiling with obstreperous energy.

Look for the Ripple Music/Desert Suns split 12" to come out later this year and more coming from the band as the year goes on.

"With old school flair and charisma this band from San Diego, CA., summons up a sun-drenched haze of doomy riffs, touches of prog and heavy desert groove. " -- Heavy Planet

Prog Ensemble THEO Featuring Renowned Keyboardist Jim Alfredson Release Debut CD 'The Game Of Ouroboros''

"… Jim Alfredson … is a remarkable organist who seamlessly synthesizes several generations of keyboard influences" - Downbeat

Lansing, MI – Jim Alfredson is best known for his work with acclaimed jazz trio organissimo and is considered among the best Hammond organists working today. His newest project is a solo album known under the name THEO that originated as a rediscovery of Alfredson's affection towards the classic era of progressive rock. Inspired by classic bands like Yes, ELP, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, and Genesis, THEO brings epic songwriting and sweeping narratives back to the forefront with contemporary sensibilities and production. The album is scheduled for release on January 27, 2015 via Big O Records (USA) and Generation Prog Records (Europe). It is available as a download, as an audio CD, and as a limited edition CD / Blu-Ray set with 5. 1 surround mixes.

Says Jim, "The over-arching theme of the album explores how we react to power. Some people react by protesting and demanding change. Some subscribe to the 'if you can't beat 'em, join 'em' mantra. Some ignore it all together. And some of those who do expose it are scapegoated and exiled. In the midst of all this, we're all just trying to live our lives and do the best we can. It seems that the era of the protest song is long gone. The political and social activity in the music of the 60s seems to have petered out and been replaced by faux rebellion, pre-packaged and test marketed. The message is essentially one of questioning power and authority and dissatisfaction with the status quo. From a musical perspective, my goal with this album was to return progressive music back to its melodic roots and the keyboards back to the forefront. I wanted to be reverent of the past classic groups but with my own spin and get away from the really heavy, guitar-driven prog that is very prevalent now."

Along with Jim on keyboards, THEO's 'The Game Of Ouroboros' features Gary Davenport on bass, Kevin DePree on drums, and Jake Reichbart on guitar. The album, which is scheduled for release on January 27, 2015, took close to 3 years to complete due to Jim's previous commitments and heavy touring schedule.

Jim explains, "I began writing it in 2010. That's the same year I joined the touring and recording band for the blues artist Janiva Magness who is based in Los Angeles. Between 2010 and 2014, I toured extensively with her and appeared on her last two albums. We toured all over the US and several times in Europe and Canada. It was a great experience but also left little time for family and for writing my own music. Somehow I managed to release two organissimo albums in that time and a solo jazz project called Jim Alfredson's Dirty Fingers. Also during that time I recorded a lot of snippets of ideas on my iPhone while on the road during sound checks, in hotel rooms, and endlessly barreling down the highway to the next gig. When the touring season ended each year, usually at the end of October, I would collate these ideas and work on the best ones. We would start touring again the following February, so I had only a few months to really work on things.

"… Jim Alfredson is one of the faces of the new millennium's Jazz renaissance." - Hammondbeat

Although primarily known for his skill on the Hammond organ, Jim utilizes a wide range of textures on THEO. The rough and raw sound of analog synthesizers firmly connects the album to the halcyon era of progressive music while careful use of modern computer-based synths extends the music into the present. Acoustic piano underpins much of the album contrasted by swirling rhythmic elements easily at home in modern electronica. Gary Davenport's deft work on the fretless bass significantly contributes to the album's sonic appeal as does his mastery of the Chapman Stick on the first three tracks. Another noteworthy highlight is the real pipe organ on the track 'The Blood That Floats My Throne', skillfully recorded to capture the awe-inspiring majesty of the instrument.

For 10 years, Jim served as organist and musical director of the highly successful, award-winning rhythm & blues band Root Doctor (1999 – 2009) producing three CDs for the band. Jim formed the jazz trio organissimo in 2000. organissimo has released five critically acclaimed CDs and a DVD in the intervening years. In 2009 Jim released a very limited edition solo CD dedicated to the memory of his father called 'In Memorandom'. Also in 2009, Jim engineered and produced Greg Nagy's debut solo record 'Walk That Fine Thin Line' followed by Nagy's 'Fell Towards None' and 'Stranded'. From 2010 to 2014, Jim served as the keyboardist and primary background vocalist in the touring band for blues singer Janiva Magness. He toured nationally and internationally with the band and is featured on Ms. Magness' Alligator Records release 'Stronger For It' as well as her self-released album 'Original'. In October 2013, Jim released another solo project entitled 'Jim Alfredson's Dirty Fingers', a tribute to jazz organ great Big John Patton.

"Alfredson… draws an audience's attention with the vivid character of [his] compositions and the unerring precision of [his] ensemble playing…" – Chicago Tribune

The 80 minute set features 17 songs across the albums The Great Cold Distance, Viva Emptiness, Brave Murder Day, Last Fair Deal Gone Down, Dead End Kings and Dethroned & Uncrowned, including fan favorite, "Teargas." The show closes with the sublime "The One You Are Looking For Is Not Here" and a special guest appearance by Norwegian vocalist Silje Wergeland of Dutch legend, The Gathering. The band was also joined on guitar and vocals by The Pineapple Thief frontman and songwriter, Bruce Soord.

"As a band we set out on uncharted waters, but while apprehensive about the journey ahead, our intentions couldn't have been more genuine to undertake this beautiful experience," commented guitarist, Anders Nystrom. "Sailing this project into harbor turned out to be bliss and has ultimately enriched all the members of Katatonia."

Katatonia was formed in 1991 by Anders Nyström and Jonas Renkse. Its debut album, Dance of December Souls, was released in 1993, gaining the band recognition for its eclectic brand of gothic doom/death metal and joining acts such as Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride as one of the genre's defining bands. On future albums, a newer, sleeker Katatonia sound came to the fore, starting with a streamlined and structured collection of melodic dark rock songs that became third album, Discouraged Ones, which is widely regarded as the main evolution point for modern day Katatonia.

In September 2013, Kscope released Dethroned & Uncrowned, a reworking of the band's 2012 epic Dead End Kings (originally released on Kscope's sister label Peaceville). Dethroned & Uncrowned allowed Katatonia the opportunity to explore a more progressive sound, creating new moods and textures while still staying truthful to the core of the original songs.

Stay tuned for more information on Katatonia and Sanctitude, out next month on Peaceville.

PROGRESSIVE ROCK & PROGRESSIVE METAL - E-ZINE - Recommends

RIDERS OF THE UNIVERSE - "Amen Road"
The Dutch band Riders of the Universe is inspired by the words of Lao Tse. A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent upon arriving. Riders of the Universe searches all corners of the universe. Sometimes as a rocket, other times as an airship. Riders of the Universe sounds like an alternative guitar band that proudly shows its roots lies in the classical -, brass band -, church -, blues - and rock music. Additional to the classic combination of rock guitar, keyboards, bass, drums and vocals, the band adds accents with tuba, flugelhorn, bouzouki and vocal harmonies.

NYC Prog Trio Consider The Source Release 23-Minute Opus “World War Trio EP (Part 1)”

"A shimmering prog-rock opus" - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

NYC - Much to the anticipation of Prog fans worldwide, NYC trio Consider the Source are releasing their first studio material in four years; A 3-disc collection titled World War Trio which has launched with the debut of a 23-minute opus "World War Trio EP (Part 1)". Consider The Source defies easy description. If intergalactic beings of pure energy, after initiation into an order of whirling dervishes, built some kind of pan-dimensional booty-shaking engine, powered by psychedelics and abstract math, it'd probably just sound like a CTS tribute band. Drawing from progressive rock, fusion and jazz, with alien sounds soaked in Indian and Middle Eastern styles, CTS blends disparate parts into a striking, utterly original whole. Dubbed "Sci-Fi Middle Eastern Fusion", the band's music strikes a rare balance between cerebral and emotional, intellectual and primal. A relentless touring schedule has won the band a fervent following from California to Israel, with fans ranging from jam-band hippies and jazz cats to metal headbangers and prog aficionados.

Recorded at Bunker Studio in Brooklyn, funded by a successful Indiegogo campaign, "World War Trio" is Consider The Source's first recording with drummer/percussionist Jeff Mann, whose recent addition has supercharged the band's chemistry. "World War Trio" spans three discs and a universe of sonic territory. Their masterful improvisation, frantic energy, and unique blend of progressive rock and Middle Eastern music have brought them worldwide acclaim, and a rigorous global tour schedule has forged them into a fearsome live band.

"When we decided to go back into the studio, we made a pact to go all in emotionally, physically, temporally and mentally. This piece was a rite of passage for us and we are beyond excited to share it with you, our fans. We ask that when you listen to this album, please do so in an undistracted environment, preferably in headphones or high quality speakers. We have tried to capture unique emotions that cannot fully come across while listening on laptop speakers. Thank you so much. We hope you enjoy." - CTS

"World War Trio EP (part 1)", the epic 23-minute work, is divided into 6 parts and focuses on the band's compositional skills, keeping their usual middle eastern and improvisational work aside. The piece features one section written by Jan Zerfeldt, mastermind of prog deities Panzerballet, with whom Consider the Source has toured throughout Germany and the US. CTS premiered the work on Halloween in Albany, NY in October 2014 with a full performance of the EP, launching a tour that will lead to the release of discs two and three as a double album in Fall of 2015. This double album will showcase the other sides of Consider the Source: authentic instruments from around the world, acoustic songs, ballads, and improvised pieces.

Formed in 2004, Consider the Source features Gabriel Marin on fretless double-neck guitar, bassist John Ferrara, and drummer/percussionist Jeff Mann. Called "the guiding light for his generation of six-stringers", Marin channels the mystical fury of McLaughlin and Coltrane into wailing melodies, kaleidoscopic soundscapes and boneshaking riffs. With a background in classical musics both European and Indian, and an instinct for avant-jazz and destructive metal, Marin's hypnotic fusion of styles is ever unpredictable. Ferrara's propulsive, percussive attack, equally suited to simple grooves and impossible chords, can ground the music or launch it into space. His madcap gumbo of slap bass, Indian rhythms, earthy minimalism and complex tapping constantly pushes into strange new worlds, whilst still dropping thick booty-clap beats. Underneath them lies Mann's rolling thunder; dense rhythmic architecture built from pure swagger and bounce. Half double-bass prog-metal, half crackle-pop Buddy Rich swing, with African and Balkan swirls, Mann's muscular, freewheeling polyrhythms are the engine fuel for CTS's multiversal mischief. Even when not improvising, The trio's music is always a conversation, a roiling stew of dynamic interplay. Each member of Consider the Source
alternately leads and follows, spars and assists; in any single song, alliances are made and broken, bargains struck and divorces finalized.

Touring from coast to coast, as well as Europe and the Middle East, has not only earned the band thousands of fans, but has allowed them to perform with wide variety of well-known artists, including Victor Wooten, Wayne Krantz, King Crimson Projekt, Kris Myers (Umphrey's McGee), Wyclef Jean, Andy Statman, The Disco Biscuits, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, Dumpstaphunk, Keller Williams, George Porter, Jr., Jeff Sipe, Panzerballet (Germany), Eatliz (Israel), Freak Kitchen (Sweden), Morglbl (France), and many others. They have performed at numerous festivals and events, including Gathering of the Vibes, Catskill Chill, The Big Up, Burning Man, Sun Seekers Ball (Canada), Mad-Summer Meltdown, Rootwire, the NYC Fretless Guitar Festival, and the NYC Gypsy Festival.

Here's what the press have been raving about Consider The Source!

"Mesmerizing World Metal…" - Melissa Giannini – Village Voice

"Intense jams, showcasing their diversity and pushing their instruments to the proverbial limit" - Relix Magazine

"Impressive improvisational skills and signature Middle Eastern motifs." - Jambase

"If you're curious as to what the kids are listening to in the Big Apple, Consider The Source may provide the answers." - Earvolution

"Pulling off music that is this complex is akin to walking a tightrope in high winds. Making all of it groove, move and breathe organically is an even more-daunting challenge, but all through Friday's show, CTS did just that. Rarely is music this progressive so . . . well, sexy and exotic are the words that come to mind. Music for the brain and the body, then." - Buffalo News

"Welcome to a new age in music. If you want a truly unbelievable, face-melting, head-banging musical experience, Consider the Source is for you.. jaw-dropping live performance that no other band can touch. " - Headspace Magazine

"They created monstrous sounds that they themselves could barely control and ate the crowd alive." - Upstate Live

"A shimmering prog-rock opus" - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

"Having seen them live, I completely understand why people are so fanatical about them. They were amazing." - Guilt Free Pleasures

ADIMIRON LAUNCHES "LIAR'S PARADOX" GUITAR PLAY-THROUGH VIDEO ON GUITARWORLD.COM

Fourth album "Timelapse" out now on Scarlet Records

ITALY - Italian progressive metal act, Adimiron, has teamed up with Guitar World to launch a guitar play-through demonstration of the track "Liar's Paradox" from the band's fourth studio album, Timelapse, out now on Scarlet Records. The video also shows off the band's new custom Overload Guitars (https://www.facebook.com/OverloadCustomGuitarsAndBasses) model. Check it out online at: http://www.guitarworld.com/adimiron-premiere-liar-s-paradox-playthrough-video-exclusive.

"For the first time in our career, and after much research and experimentation, we've found the perfect guitars made for our hands and perfect to express all our musical intentions," guitarist Thomas Aurizzi told Guitar World. "The versatility that we can get out of this guitar is just incredible, allowing us to play everything from death metal to jazz music with extreme simplicity and a perfect sound. Also, in a track like 'Liar's Paradox,' composed by a fast ride at the beginning and a proggy dynamic structure in the middle, this guitar shows versatility both in the rhythmic and in the solo parts. We're very proud of this new collaboration with Overload Guitars and can't wait to hit the stage and studio with our new axes."

Released late last year, Adimiron's new album, Timelapse, mixes furious thrash riffs and progressive/avant-garde atmospheres with a post-death metal touch. This new, dark, sinister effort combines all of the elements that make Adimiron's sound so distinctive: rhythmic spasms and asymmetric textures embedded in a progressive and dramatic scenario. Focusing on the synthesis, Timelapse reveals fascinating and obscure landscapes with no boundaries of any kind.

"With Timelapse, we're trying to explore our relationship with the only aspect that cannot be modified in our lives: the flow of time," commented guitarist Alessandro Castelli. "The new album extends all our personal and daily feelings about the choices that compose our identity, a sort of glass sliding doors. But Timelapse is not only a mirror reflecting our inner tensions, it's like a 'portal' to our relationship with the surrounding world and how it's been modified from the beginning."

A music video for the Timelapse track, "State of Persistence," can be seen on YouTube at: http://youtu.be/sfF_TsvJzrA.

Timelapse can be purchased online via Bandcamp at: https://adimironband.bandcamp.com/album/timelapse, iTunes at: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/timelapse/id922895713 and Amazon.com at: http://www.amazon.com/Timelapse-Adimiron/dp/B00NWHKFEO.

10,000 Maniacs Announce Official Release Date Of Their New Album And Offer A Sneak Peek!

Jamestown, NY - Having conquered the alternative rock world with multi-platinum selling albums and unforgettable singles such as "These Are Days," 10,000 Maniacs are about to release the most ambitious album of their career, a full-length collection of traditional British Isles folk songs, titled 'Twice Told Tales', newly interpreted by the band whose organic, neo-folk sound has influenced countless others. The official street date for the album is April 28 and will be made available on both CD as well as a special 180-gram 12" vinyl format from Cleopatra Records!

Founding member and keyboardist Dennis Drew explains the germination of the project, "Folk music of all types has been a strong influence on the band. One of the songs on the new record 'Do You Love An Apple' has been in our repertoire for 30 years. We've also recorded Carter family songs and other American, Irish and British Folk music in the past." With that experience under wing, the group set out to create an entire album's worth of modern versions of traditional British folk classics that would fit right alongside the rest of the 10,000 Maniacs' body of work. "These are timeless melodies," Drew continues, "Some songs are funny, some are heartbreaking. Most are 100, 200, 300 years old. It's crazy how they can be turned into 21st century pop songs!"

For a taste of what fans have in store, the band is streaming one full song from the new album, a delightful Irish rhyme "Misty Moisty Morning," on Soundcloud.

ANTHROPIA - "Non-Euclidean Spaces"
Founded in 2003 by Hugues LEFEBVRE (vocals, acoustic and electric guitars), Anthropia first records a 5 songs demo before becoming a solo project in 2004. The band's style can be described as power prog' metal, inspired by bands like Symphony X, Megadeth, Pain Of Salvation, Ayreon, Dream Theater, etc. The project ultimately takes shape in 2006 with its first album, out on the reknown american label Magna Carta: "The Ereyn Chronicles, Part 1".

With the help from Damien RAINAUD on the drums, and thanks to a very warm welcome from the press (especially "Album of the month" in the french issue of Rock Hard magazine in December 2006), Hugo teams up with Nathalie OLMI (vocals), Yann MOUHAD (guitars) and Julien NEGRO (bass), in order to perform the album live during a series of live concerts. The band will play notably at the Tomawok Festival in Nice, will open for the british band Magnum at the Trabendo in Paris, and will perform a few showcases in a handfull of FNAC shops in France.

"Lion Snake", live at the Tomawok festival: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIwxGTkXzYI

In 2009, the band releases its second album: "The Chain Reaction", mixed by François MERLE, guitar player from MANIGANCE, and mastered by Tommy HANSEN (Helloween, Pretty Maids, ...). Kevin CODFERT from ADAGIO is also appearing as a guest.

This album, with higher composition and production standards, is out on ADARCA RECORDS, a record company founded by the band, and garners even more accolades from the press ("Album of the month" again in the french edition of Rock Hard magazine in April 2009).

Recording memories from "The Chain Reaction": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KF-vjb3V_Mg

The band finaly records in 2010 an unplugged showcase in order to release its first live album: "Acoustic Reactions". The concert is captured on film and integrally available on Youtube.

For our third recording, we have gathered powerul artifacts, have set up deadly weapons and packed some holy water in order to journey far and deep into the troubled waters of the Pacific Ocean. There, we have found the darkest of inspiration...

"Non-Euclidean Spaces" is indeed an hommage to our favorite author of all times, H.P. Lovecraft, and to his famous Cthulhu Mythos. The album, which title references to the impossible and cyclopean architecture that the writer held so dear, revisits themes featured in the universe of his novels and short stories, developing an original scenario of its own.

We will follow the footsteps of Randolph Carter who, in order to retrieve his dreaming faculties which will allow him to travel through time and space, will have to face Great Old Ones threat while the stars are starting to align. The album is comprised of the following songs, for a total duration of 71 minutes (which is the stantard time needed to summon a Hound of Tindalos... Usually...):

01 - Strange Aeons (00:55)
02 - The Melancholy Of R.C. (07:32)
03 - Silver Twilight Lodge (07:29)
04 - The Part Of Them In Me (09:45)
05 - Unknown Kadath (02:55)
06 - Seeds Of Decay (05:52)
07 - When The Stars Come Right (07:35)
08 - Crawling Chaos (06:22)
09 - The Snake Den (06:35)
10 - Lost In Time And Space (06:02)
11 - Fuoco (04:00)
---
12 - Credits (05:24)

Two guests of honour have participated in the recording and helped us breath life into the Mythos and the adventures of Randolph Carter - let's just say that their place next to the Great Cthulhu is more than secured now !

- Arjen Anthony LUCASSEN (Ayreon, Star One), is the narrator on the whole album. https://www.facebook.com/ArjenLucassenOfficial

- Edu FALASCHI (Almah, ex-Angra), lent his voice on the track "The Snake Den". https://www.facebook.com/edufalaschi.officialpage
