SLAVES TO FASHION new album "ARTISTIC DIFFERENCES"

SLAVES TO FASHION is releasing a new album on February 4th 2011. The album is titled "Artistic Differences" reflecting the band members' different musical backgrounds, raging from pop, progressive rock, black metal and modern rock. Thus the four-piece from Norway mixes metal, pop and progressive rock in a shameless way, while always focusing on their shared passion for the essential ingredient in all music: great melodies and a great sound.
"To quote one of my heroes: "This album is not fast food for the ears". But it is still quite in your face", says guitarist Torfinn Sirnes. Singer Johannes Støle adds: "Every band wants to find that unique sound that really defines the band - and this time I really think we have come close. But you'll still hear a lot of our different influences in there, like Queensrÿche, Peter Gabriel, A Perfect Circle and Deep Purple."

"Artistic Differences" is being released by new German underground label Hands Of Blue Records and songs from the album can be heard at www.myspace.com/slavestofashion.

'70s-flavoured muscular hard rock."

Glenn Hughes … spiritually it's an exciting place for rock die-hards."

– Guitarist

Glenn Hughes

The Voice of Rock is a true original. No other rock musician has carved such a distinctive style blending the finest elements of hard rock, soul and funk. That astonishing voice is Hughes' calling card. He's known as a singer's singer, with 80+ gold and platinum albums and collective sales of over 100 million units to his name.

Hughes has been at the forefront of the music scene since first achieving success in 1970 with his band Trapeze, before going on to worldwide recognition in 1973 when he joined one of the most popular bands in the world, Deep Purple.

Hughes' R&B-infused bass lines and explosive vocal range blazed throughout the band's hugely successful world tours and albums, including their classic 1974 release, Burn.

Following Deep Purple's split in 1976; Hughes made countless guest appearances as a vocalist, bass guitarist and songwriter on other artists' albums, including Black Sabbath's Seventh Star.

Since 1992, Hughes has toured extensively in Europe, Asia and South America in support of solo albums, including the acclaimed Soul Mover and his most recent release, First Underground Nuclear Kitchen, both featuring Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith.

Joe Bonamassa

Part prodigy, part virtuoso, (the rest being mercilessly honed guitar skills and tireless work ethic) Joe Bonamassa has built his reputation as one of the world's greatest guitar players since his career started, at age 12, performing with B.B. King and John Lee Hooker.

Heavily influenced by British and Irish rock legends including Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Rory Gallagher, Bonamassa went on to tour and performed with Buddy Guy, Foreigner, Bad Company, Joe Cocker and Gregg Allman before beginning his recording career in the early '90s with Bloodline, a hard-charging rock-blues band with the sons of Robby Kreiger (The Doors), Miles Davis and Berry Oakley (The Allman Brothers Band).

When he went solo as a singer/songwriter, Bonamassa recorded his critically acclaimed debut album, A New Day Yesterday, with legendary producer Tom Dowd.

Barley into his 30s with twenty years of experience in the music business and recorded a total of ten albums on his own independent label J&R Adventures (six of which debuted at #1 on the Billboard's Blues Chart), Bonamassa sold out London's prestigious Royal Albert Hall in less than a week in 2009 for a stunning performance filmed for the DVD Joe Bonamassa: Live From Royal Albert Hall, featuring a guest appearance by Eric Clapton.

Always on the road, Bonamassa performs his transformational live act at more than 200 concerts around the world each year. In 2010 he toured in support of the Billboard blues #1 (and #39 on the Top 200 Chart) album Black Rock, and also reunited with Eric Clapton at the Crossroads Guitar Festival in Chicago.

John Bonham

The legacy of Led Zeppelin lives on in Jason Bonham, British drummer and son of Zep's legendary John Bonham. Inheriting the best of his father's skills while mastering his own distinctive and dynamic technique, Bonham blasted onto the world stage at age 17 with the band Air Race, opening for huge draws like Queen, Meat Loaf and AC/DC.

In 1988, Bonham took his father's spot in the televised, first-ever Led Zeppelin reunion at the Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary Concert. Later that year, Bonham toured with Jimmy Page and recorded his album, Outrider.

Earning a gold record on the track "Wait for You" from his solo album The Disregard of Timekeeping, Bonham went on to team up with Paul Rodgers, Slash, David Gilmour and Jeff Beck to record the Grammy-nominated album, Tribute to Muddy Waters.

Bonham has made a career of entertaining audiences around the world, touring with The Healing Sixes and Foreigner and rejoining his late father's band members for the most anticipated concert of all time, 2007's Led Zeppelin reunion at London's O2 Arena. In 2006, Bonham recorded the year's top Billboard blues album, You and Me with Joe Bonamassa.

Derek Sherinian

A versatile keyboardist who mixes technical proficiency with distinctively raw power, Derek Sherinian has toured and recorded with some of the biggest names in rock. Sherinian got his big break in 1989, touring with legendary shock-rocker Alice Cooper in support of the multi-platinum albums Trash and Hey Stoopid.

In 1991, Sherinian caught the attention of Gene Simmons, joining Kiss for their Revenge tour and recording Alive III. Moving into progressive rock, Sherinian joined Dream Theater in 1994, recording three albums and performing on two world tours.

Going solo in 1999, Sherinian has recorded six albums, teaming up with legends including Billy Idol, Slash, Al DiMeola, Steve Lukather (Toto) and Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne) to create a catalogue of music that fuses hard rock intensity with dynamic, jazz-infused flair.

RanestRane new Album -"Shining" will be available on March

RanestRane is an Italian prog band from Rome that was formed in 1998 with the aim to compose and perform a rock-opera.

Unlike other famous rock operas, where the movie is based on the story conceived by the musicians, RanestRane choosed the gothic masterpiece of W. Herzog "Nosferatu The Vampyre", and composed a whole new soundtrack with the songs telling the story to the public (NOSFERATU IL VAMPIRO).

In 2008, they began to compose the rock opera "Shining", based on S. Kubrick's movie.

They started their live activity in 2000, performing a show called "cineconcerto", with the images of the Herzog's film flowing in the background. The show has been introduced by Premiata Forneria Marconi in in Milan, and has been performed during the International Rome Film Festival.

Among their musical influences you can find bands like PFM, BMS, Genesis, Marillion.

Quantum Fantay Lands at ProgDay 2011!

ONE OF THE WORLD'S FOREMOST SPACEROCK BANDS arrives at Storybook Farm to carry us far away...

Belgium's QUANTUM FANTAY was founded in 2002 when PETE MUSH (keyboards) and JARO (bass) decided to form a band that would "change the city of Lokeren forever!" It became much more. With the addition of GINO BARTOLINI (drums) and DARIO FRODO (guitar), and five albums later, QUANTUM FANTAY has evolved to be an important contributor to the progressive rock / space rock / psychedelic scenes. Though QF has closed the first night of the Burg Herzberg Festival in Germany in front of over 7000 people, audiences in the US will best remember the band from it's wonderful appearance at NEARfest in 2009. New music has been released since, and the band is very excited to be returning to perform material that's never yet been heard in the US, as well as old favorites.
The band worked on new material and the second studio album, Ugisiunsi, was released in 2007. It contained "evergreens" such as "Forehead Echo," "Niek Schlut" and "Other Snowballs in Ghostlands," tracks that are still played today and get great response from the crowd!

For the first time, this album opened doors to the international circuit. The band played in Luxemburg, Holland, at the famous prog resiste convention in Verviers and closed the first night at the Burg Herzberg Festival in Germany in front of more than 7000 people. The complete show was recorded and released in 2008 as a double live-cd called "From Herzberg To Livingroom."

In order to promote this live album, QF embarked on its first European tour. After a stunning start in their hometown Lokeren, the band toured through Holland, Luxemburg, Belgium, Germany, Poland and Switzerland. They also played at the Symforce festival and at the Fonnefeesten for the second time! This time, the entire Fonnefeesten show was recorded for a bonus DVD that was released in 2009, along with the third studio album, Kaleidothrope, which holds fantaystic tracks such as "Cube," "Moving Circles," "The Spirit" (named after the best club in Belgium, Spirit Of 66 in Verviers) and "Zwar Ty Schapy." On this album QUANTUM FANTAY again improved its already outstanding quality and it's ability to make instrumental progressive space rock more breathable for larger crowds.

QF then embarked on another European tour, followed by a blistering show at NEARfest in the USA. It also toured with THRESHOLD and played at the Summer's End Festival in the UK with acts such as PENDRAGON, PALLAS and STEVE HACKETT. QF was also invited to the Io pages festival, where none other than THIJS VAN LEER from the illustrious band FOCUS played with the band on "Trip Escape."

Meanwhile, QUANTUM FANTAY worked very hard on a new album, Bridges Of Kukuriku, which was released in October 2010. Once again the critics were unanimously positive and QF rose to the top of the progressive spacerock scene. The band started promoting the album with a Benelux tour alongside one of it's big influences, OZRIC TENTACLES. Shows with UNITOPIA and headlining clubshows in Belgium and Holland followed.

In 2011, QUANTUM FANTAY will be touring globally, first in Europe (between March and May) where the band will play at the famous ProgSud Festival in Marseille, France. In August/September QF returns to the U.S.A. where it will play at the oldest progfestival in the world, ProgDay.

Fen Video Preview

The official release will likely be in mid-February, but our label Ripple Music has given us permission to share it exclusively with those precious souls who've entrusted us with their email address. The video will be available for viewing for the next 24 hours. Here is the link:

Feel free to leave comments on this youtube page. We'll let you know the day of the official release, at which point the video can be shared with others not belonging to this list.

A little background:

As mentioned in the short promo video, for constructing the set, we pillaged dirt, sand, rocks, sticks and foliage from local parks and beaches. We also got a few things from dollar stores. We assembled the stuff on a raised six by four foot plywood board, first in the puppeteers' apartment, then in Sam's kitchen. During the fire scene we had all the windows open and fans blasting, but despite these precautions, the room billowed with smoke and it was a miracle none of us was asphyxiated. During the rain scenes at Sam's groundfloor apartment, considerable water was spilled onto his kitchen linoleum and drained into the livingroom carpet, possibly drowning countless microorganisms. Also during the rain scenes, Doug's tendonitis flared up from firing the spritzer bottles for so many hours.

Getting this video together was a harrying adventure, and a lot of people helped us along the way. Thanks to Chloe and Jessica of Mind of a Snail Puppet Co., film-makers Andrew Coppin and Laird Pierce, Mike Southworth of Collide Entertainment, Pope and Racer at Ripple Music, Sean McDiarmid, Cheri King, Tara Flynn, Pam Bentley, Jesse Greenway, among others.

LEAVES' EYES - album title, cover artwork and release date!

The new LEAVES' EYES record is called "Meredead". Producer Alexander Krull is doing the final mix of "Meredead" at Mastersound Studio. The artwork was done by Stefan Heilemann.

"Meredead" will be released on the 22nd of April 2011 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland! More streetdates will follow soon!

Singer Liv Kristine comments: "As we began composing the first song ideas for our fourth full-length album, all of us were very eager to take another step in strengthening both the individual sound and concept of Leaves' Eyes, like we have done album by album. Along with the song-writing process, I made up my mind about the songs' themes, and drowned myself in different sources of literature. Some songs clearly needed lyrics rooted in northern history and culture, as well as having mystical themes. Being an Old-English fan, I decided to write some of the lyrics in Old-English, which of course included further studies of grammatical and phonetic knowledge, which I really enjoyed doing. Next to modern English and Old-English, some songs are sung in traditional Norwegian, to keep their strong individuality and focus on certain themes from special genres in Norwegian traditional singing. The album is given the title "Meredead", as one of the songs on th e album. It is my own word-creation (at least I haven't found it in a dictionary yet), and it may mean both "dead by/in the sea", or "the mortal or killing sea". In my lyrics you will find traditional themes from Viking literature and Norwegian song tradition, moreover, tales from the Irish isles, some from already existing sources, some made up myself. Sometimes you will hear about men going on adventures, some ending up drowing in the sea, their wives, evil witches, three-headed trolls, or spell-bound princesses, as well as marble halls and blood-thirsty creatures. I allowed myself more freedom for the concept of "Meredead", telling a number of different stories, real, mystical or sometimes maybe even both."

The Red Masque - Last Night’s Show Recap, New Video Footage & Upcoming Gig Details

The Red Masque performed last night at the National Mechanics in Philly as a special tribute show to David E. Williams and Germ Books (http://www.germbooks.com/). David is a musician as well as the founder of Germ Books, which he announced would be closing earlier this month. Germ is a counter culture institution in Philadelphia and was the host to many discussion groups, music shows (including The Red Masque) and art shows (including work by TRM's Lynnette and Brandon). So last night's show was a tribute to both David as well as GERM.
VIDEO POSTED: One of the attendees last night took the a video with their cell phone of The Red Masque during one of our songs. CLICK http://www.facebook.com/login.php to play video on facebook.
A review, posted on facebook, during the performance, along with a photo:
"TRM at national mechanics right now! Avant/psych/prog meets krautrock via Germantown...imagine grace slick in king crimson at their most experimental and punishing mathrock. Hard as nails and arty too! ... The Red Masque and their new lineup will absolutely destroy tall buildings and young minds alike. What an amazing performance & absolutely awesome songs. This new lineup has possibly some of the tightest and hippest drumming that you can still groove to in odd time signatures. Lynette has found a band that suits her vocal range & doesn't try to over power her. Magnificent music with solid songs that deliver gold!" - John Cecil Price
Next show: Feb 16 at the North Star in Philadelphia opening for Martin Bisi (with special guest Brian Viglione of the Dresden Dolls).

Info:
Martin Bisi, a New York performer and well-known record producer has been at a crossroads of indie/punk, avant garde, noire/cabaret rock, and electronic music since the early 80's, recording classic albums by Sonic Youth, Swans, John Zorn, Bill Laswell/Material, Helmet, Herbie Hancock (Rockit), Africa Bambaata, The Boredoms, The Dresden Dolls, White Zombie, Cop Shoot Cop, Foetus, Unsane and others. In his own band, Martin Bisi [band] where he plays guitar and sings, the songs incorporate story-telling and range between dark and down-tempo, and fast and light-hearted. Bisi also does unique ambient sound layering that reminds of his studio work.  Martin Bisi's band at this show will include Brian Viglione of The Dresden Dolls on drums.
The Red Masque are pleased to be opening for Bisi at one of the premier music clubs in Philadelphia.

"Curious Creatures" Art Show by Lynnette Shelley

Come see a solo art show of mostly all-new, never previously exhibited artwork at Nichols Berg Gallery in the Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia.
Artworks will be a wide variety of price ranges as well as sizes. "One of my primary interests has always been exploring legends and stories from around the world. Why are certain motifs ubiquitous across cultures and continents? These archetypal stories are told repeatedly in different guises throughout myth and folklore, and animals are often used to convey these mysteries. Whether painted on cave walls, portrayed as omens or worshiped as personifications of the gods, animals were a favorite theme for our ancestors. My artwork takes a closer look at this archetypal animal kingdom. Reinterpreted through abstraction, decorative element and contemporary vision, these creatures speak to our collective unconscious."

TWINSPIRITS - NEW ALBUM "LEGACY" COVER AND TRACKLIST REVEALED.

Italian progressive metal band Twinspirits return with their third album "Legacy" on 18th February 2011. "Legacy" takes all the best aspects of the bands previous two releases and adds a heavier dynamic and more cohesive sound thanks to a fixed line-up, the same that delivered the highly praised "The Forbidden City" and spent time on the road promoting that release.

"Legacy" marks the second album of vocalist Göran Nyström in the band, and his voice delivers another commanding performance over the material penned by band mastermind and keyboardist Daniele Liverani. Guitarist Tommy Ermolli takes a heavier role this time round whilst the rhythm section of bassist Alberto Rigoni and drummer Dario Ciccioni hold down the complex patterns with precision.

"Legacy" is divided in 2 main parts. In the first part we have 6 powerful straight ahead songs, still being progressive in nature and with a more direct feel to them than has been heard from the band before. The second part of the album is a multi suite movement, "The Endless Sleep", divided in 5 songs (symphonic intro + 4 songs) that is more like an album within an album being very theatrical and visionary.

On the albums lyrical slant Liverani comments, "Lyrically the first 6 songs are independent to the suite, and are cover subject, including personal experiences, thoughts about life in this era, and different kind of reflections of human beings into this modern world we are living in".

"The second part, the suite, is covering a concept story that runs through a journey that the main character is undertaking after a premature death, whereby he's discovering a role that he's involved in after he passes away, and the meeting with a superior entity that is giving him a sort of second chance to get back to the human life to accomplish a human rescue mission as a second millennium messiah...a very struggling story that will be revealed part by part of "the endless sleep" 30 min. suite. The key points of the concept are in part "I'm leaving this world" where the main character describes the moment he passes away and his extra body experience, the song "Legacy" where we have the relationship between him and the superior entity that is explaining his new role in the afterlife, the songs "what am I supposed to do" is a very moving moment where he meets his parents while he's back to human life temporary, and the final part "tell me the truth" continues the description of the relationship of the main character with his afterlife guide mentor".

Twinspirits will be getting back on the road in spring 2011 promoting the new album with a tour and some European festival appearances.

A promotional video for "Slave To This World" was released in January 2011 and has won strong praise from the bands fan base and beyond. View at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckU0hL_awKY

NEARfestNews Umphrey's McGee to headine NEARfest 2011 Sunday night

NEARfest is pleased to welcome Umphrey's McGee, one of the premier modern day progressive music acts, to the NEARfest stage in Baker Hall at The Zoellner Arts Center on June 26th 2011.

Founded in 1997 in South Bend, Indiana, Umphrey's McGee soon made Chicago home base, and set their sights on becoming one of todays premier live acts. Over the course of the last ten years, the band has performed at festivals such as Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, and continues to sell out shows in the nation's premier venues coast to coast. They have toured Europe multiple times and performed at Japan's Fuji Rock Festival in 2006.

The band consists of...

Brendan Bayliss - Guitar, vocals
Jake Cinninger - Guitar, vocals
Joel Cummins - Keyboard, piano, vocals
Andy Farag - Percussion
Kris Myers - Drums, vocals
Ryan Stasik - Bass

Together these virtuoso musicians make beautiful music together. Music that has been described as "progressive improvisation" , "improg" and "improgisation". Though they are ofter associated with the jam band world (because of their continually changing set lists, policy of open taping and two set nights) their music is most influenced by the likes of King Crimson, Zappa, Genesis, Dream Theater, Pink Floyd, The Police, Yes, Iron Maiden, Zeppelin and The Beatles. (I even read once that Bing Crosby is a big influence and for this fella that makes my day.)

So get ready for a highly entertaining night of killer musicianship, great compositions and intense improg. (without a bowl of noodles)

Once again NEARfest is proud and excited to welcome Umphrey's McGee to the festival stage on Sunday night.

BORN OF OSIRIS announce new album title, release date and tour

BORN OF OSIRIS are mature well beyond their years and this dynamic extreme progressive juggernaut have now perfectly honed all of their collective talents to create what will soon be a pinnacle release for the metal genre. This ground-breaking six-piece group create an epic mix of intricate and memorable melodies with challenging time signatures that still hold an infectious groove, all while maintaining sheer, tasteful brutality.

Their much anticipated third full-length album, "The Discovery", is now set for a March 22nd release and is going to serve the scene the much needed wake-up call it so much needs. The effort was mixed by the acclaimed producer Jason Suecof (All That Remains, Trivium). Be sure to stay tuned to www.facebook.com/bornofosiris for all info on the new album and samples of new material which will be posted in the coming weeks.

Lee McKinney (guitars) further states: "I should start by saying this new album is heavier than anything the band ever released. We have moved onto seven strings and it couldn't have complimented our sound any better. We brought back the 'BOO-bounce' on this one. It's definitely a really fun and upbeat album. Also, the addition of our new guitar player Jason Richardson has increased the amount of shred on this album. There are some really incredible guitar solos on this album from the both of us. It takes the band to a whole new level of musicality. This album contains an awesome mix of our most heavy, most technical, most atmospheric and most beautiful melodies ever."

Legendary Iron Butterfly / Captain Beyond Member Larry 'Rhino' Reinhardt Releases New CD Featuring Original Great Southern Members

When you speak of real classic rock legends, Larry 'Rhino' Reinhardt, founder of legendary '70s rock group Captain Beyond and former member of heavy metal prototypes Iron Butterfly, is a firmly established constituent of this elite group. Guitarist, songwriter and producer Larry "Rhino" Reinhardt started in the Georgia based bands The Load (1967-69) and The Second Coming (1969-70), with Dickey Betts and Berry Oakley, who went on to help form The Allman Brothers Band. Rhino would join Iron Butterfly in late 1969, and recorded the highly acclaimed 'Metamorphosis' album as well as touring with the band worldwide. After Iron Butterfly split at the end 1971, Rhino wasted no time and formed Captain Beyond, together with Lee Dorman (bass) from Iron Butterfly, Rod Evans (vocals) from Deep Purple and Bobby Caldwell (drums) from Johnny Winter. Captain Beyond was called a super group, given that pedigree and skills of the individual members. Their first self-titled album left the world breathless and continues to sell, being an influence of a whole new generation of bands. Rhino's unique guitar playing and songwriting skills can be heard on all three Captain Beyond albums: the first, self titled album 'Captain Beyond' (1972) and their second album 'Sufficiently Breathless' (1973) were released on Capricorn, while their third album 'Dawn Explosion', released on Warner Bros. In 1977. The first two Captain Beyond albums are considered 'classics' and have been since remastered and reissued on CD.

Rhino made some selected guest appearances through the years: he appeared on two Bobby Womack songs,"Don't Let Me Down" and "I Don't Want To Get Hurt By Your Love Again" from 'Lookin' For A Love Again' album (United Artists 1974). The Robert Tepper album 'No Rest For The Wounded Heart' was released in 1996, having been recorded in 1991 as Iron Butterfly. After Captain Beyond split in 1977, Rhino formed his own band Rhino in 1979, which included former Tucky Buzzard singer Jimi Henderson. The band toured the US in support of Stephen Stills. Through the years, Rhino has been in several reformed versions of Iron Butterfly with Lee Dorman (1978, 80, 84, 89 and 92), that also included original lead vocalist Doug Ingle (1978, 84), drummer Ron Bushy (1978, 92) and guitarist Erik Keith Brann (1989). In 1998 he reformed Captain Beyond with original drummer Bobby Caldwell. After a fantastic debut at Sweden Rock Festival in 1999, sharing the stage with Deep Purple, Dio and Budgie, Captain Beyond recorded an EP, that contains the potential hit "Don't Cry Over Me". Unfortunately, due to management issues, Captain Beyond was discontinued in 2002. Rhino then joined Blue Swamp in 2003 also playing selected shows locally with Rhino & Doss.

In August 2008 Rhino Reinhardt released his first solo album in Florida, called 'Rhino's Last Dance'. The CD received critical acclaim, but, due to distribution problems the CD was hard to obtain. Unsupported by management he pondered what to do, and then in early 2010 Dicky Betts sudden retirement opened the door to get together with old friends, Mike Koch (keyboards), Frankie Lombardi (drums), Pedro Arevalo (bass) and Don Bonzi (guitar) from Dicky Betts band Great Southern. Rhino formed Rhino and the Possie and a lot of songs and a new concept started a new album 'Back in the Day' based on the idea of music that was familiar sounding but with a fresh new approach.

Rhino says, "We will just have see what the fans have to say about it. If the concept is not misunderstood, we just may have a winner here!!!"

Blackfield new album "Welcome To My DNA" (CD and Vinyl)

After a gap of four years, Blackfield, the acclaimed collaboration between Steven Wilson and Aviv Geffen, return with their third album, Welcome To My DNA.

Blackfield is the acclaimed collaboration between Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) and Israeli artist Aviv Geffen.

Formed after a meeting in 2000, the partnership blossomed into a cross-cultural collaboration that has already spawned two albums (Blackfield and Blackfield II). They return in March with their third album, Welcome To My DNA, following a gap of 4 years caused by both artists' recent hectic schedules.

Porcupine Tree's 2009 release, The Incident, is the band's best selling album to date, and the band has continued to raise its profile around the world, recently playing sold out gigs at London's Royal Albert Hall and New York's Radio City Music Hall. However, Porcupine Tree is just one of Steven's several musical projects, which also include Blackfield, No-Man, and Bass Communion. Steven is also a Grammy nominated producer and mixer working with the likes of Opeth, King Crimson, and Yoko Ono. He also co-wrote and sang a song on the recent UK number one album by Pendulum.

During the gap between albums, Aviv has released his first English language solo album (produced by Trevor Horn) and has supported U2 and Placebo. The son of esteemed Israeli poet Yehonatan Geffen and the nephew of Moshe Dayan, Geffen is Israel's leading counter-culture rock musician. A huge star in his native country, his records have been greeted with critical adulation, earning him a string of gold albums. An outspoken peace campaigner, he controversially refused to do compulsory military service, and his lyrics have been fiercely critical of the Israeli military and their actions.

Aviv has worked with various artists, including Elbow and Belle and Sebastian, throughout his career but it has been his partnership with Steven that has proved the most fertile, and both artists have been keen to return to their work with Blackfield.

Blackfield will be on tour throughout Europe in April.

PALLAS - NEW FREE DOWNLOAD AND XXV TRACK BY TRACK SAMPLES

With only a few days to go until the release of XXV - which can be pre-ordered at Amazon, iTunes etc via links on the site - we are pleased to offer "Atlantean" as a free download (http://www.pallasxxv.com/) in addition to the Monster radio edit and Calendar already available.

Following in the quiet style of previous two albums this is the demo of what could easily have been the XXV album opener had it not been usurped by the much more energetic Falling Down!
It features developments of some of the themes from The Sentinel which also recur throughout the album, so you may want to place this download at the start of a playlist in itunes etc.

Also on the website are track by track samples and band comments to further whet your appetite for the album. For new UK followers who may wish to know more about the band we can confirm that the next issue of "Classic Rock Presents Prog" magazine - due out next week - will include an extensive interview with Paul and Graeme an album review and a track on the cover disc!

For full information and details of upcoming gigs log on to the website at http://www.pallasxxv.com/. The band feel this is their best album yet - we hope you agree!

Devin Townsend Project Announces European Tour 2011

After announcing 6 UK dates for coming March 2011 already, Devin Townsend Project now announces a full blown European tour which will see the band playing 25 shows in 13 different countries. Mr Townsend, being hard at work to put the final touches to the upcoming albums ´Ghost´ and ´Deconstruction´ (both tentatively scheduled for a May release), commented:

"After another busy, busy, year, we have set ourselves up for an even busier one... and to be honest, I wouldn\\\'t have it any other way. I have just recently finished Ghost (record 4, the mellow one) and am currently up to my balls in Deconstruction (record 3, the heavy one... for which we are using the Prague Symphony Orchestra to make more ridiculous than it really needs to be :) and I\\\'ve yet to get my goddamn garage cleaned, so yeah... things are busy. I love it. So I\\\'d like to announce a European tour... it will be the first tour of many we are doing in 2011 and it starts March 3rd in the UK. It hits a bunch of spots in Europe, including some places I\\\'ve never played but have always wanted to. I\\\'m really, really, excited to play again, and we will bring new music as well as some special acoustic performances. The people who support it have been so gracious that it\\\'s a real pleasure to announce this. See you next year guys! I\\\'ll bring my gnarliest teeth and lumpiest head!

The band is set to perform a mixture of tracks from all four DTP albums and the Dutch and Finns will get a real treat as long time friend and main guest vocalist on 2009's "Addicted" record, Anneke van Giersbergen (Ex-The Gathering, Agua de Annique) will be joining the band on the last four dates of the tour to share vocal duties with Devin.
