MELAPESANTE
...the strength of an apple is its simplicity, its offering itself...

Electromantic Music 2010
  10 songs,  48,5 minutes

Melapesante is the new record by the historic prog band Syndone who, with a renovated line-up, dedicate their third album to apples. Led by the eclectic composer Nik Comoglio, who in 2009 received many positive feedbacks from audience and critics alike with Acqueforti, Syndone list in 10 chapters all the appearances of apples in history and literature: from Adam and Eve to Wilhelm Tell, from Magritte to Newton, they all come back to life in the best prog rock atmospheres.

For their third album the band – in Nik Comoglio's words – has focused on "creating the most original music we could, because I think that being original in music comes from the band, from a synergy of minds with as much cultural baggage as possible, each of them giving according to how much they have been assimilating in their past careers". With Melapesante we can hear a mature and artistically complete work: the attention for how it sounds, the vintage instruments and the mastering made in the famous Abbey Road studios in London contribute to make this record full of surprises.

Syndone's progressive rock won't leave old and new fans of the genre indifferent, as it didn't in the '90s. "We didn't want to completely forget that peculiar sound we created back then. For instance: we still didn't use any electric guitar, but we opened up towards new timbre setups with a vibraphone or various keyboards". Like the two previous records, Spleen (1990) and Inca (1992), Melapesante has been produced by Beppe Crovella.

Syndone are:
Nik Comoglio: piano, Hammond, Moog and keyboards
Federico Marchesano: electric bass and double bass
Francesco Pinetti: vibraphone and symphonic timpani
Paolo Rigotto: drums and percussions
Riccardo Ruggeri: vocals
