Timotheos - Hierosolyma (a neo-medieval, progressive musical odyssy)

A refugee from academia, Timotheos is an ambient composer and visual artist who fuses a variety of progressive and experimental influences into both audio and visual creations that seek to bridge the distance between the ancient and the modern.

Inspired by a wide range of influences from early music, classic prog, and experimental indie he works to create songs and soundscapes that evoke visions of the future and echoes of the past.

Visually, he does mostly mixed-media art pieces, which are a combination of pen-and-ink, watercolour, pencil, and (sometimes) digital editing, exploring a variety of esoteric, medieval, neogothic, and victorian themes.

HIEROSOLYMA

"Jerusalem"—a beautiful and tragic city—lies at the heart of the western religious imagination. As a greatly contested geographic and symbolic space, it represents both an enduring legacy of devotion and a litany of repeated destructions. This collection of new recordings by TIMOTHEOS is a sonic meditation on some of the many images and atmospheres evoked by this Holy City. Drawing on a diversity of modern and ancient influences—from early music to experimental ambient—HIEROSOLYMA is a modern day requiem for a much divided city.
