Keyboard Legend Rick Wakeman Releases Archival Concert From 2003 On CD

London, UK - For the last forty years Rick Wakeman has immersed himself in music. Leaving the Royal College of Music Rick has worked with some of the biggest names in rock and pop music playing on some of the biggest hits by artists as diverse as Cat Stevens, Marc Bolan and David Bowie. Likewise he has played with one of the biggest rock bands in the world; As a member of YES Rick played some of the biggest arenas in the world and released massively successful albums including 'Fragile', 'Close To the Edge' and the live album 'Yessongs'. In 1973 he released his first proper solo album 'The Six Wives of Henry the VIII' following that album up in the seventies and eighties with other hugely popular and successful albums. In the eighties Rick also recorded albums in the then popular genre entitled "New Age", releasing such popular albums as The Aspirant Series of recordings ('Aspirant Sunrise', 'Aspirant Sunset' and 'Aspirant Sunshadows').

After leaving YES following a world tour in 2004, Rick concentrated on his solo career and collaborated with Jon Anderson on a number of projects including tours of the UK and US and a studio and live album. The latest release from Rick Wakeman is an archive live album titled 'In The Nick Of Time', which was recorded in 2003. The album was recorded during the tour to promote the then current studio album 'Out There'. Rick performed with the "New English Rock Ensemble" which featured Rick alongside old hands Ashley Holt, Tony Fernandez and new boys Ant Glynne and Lee Pomeroy. Tracks featured include: "Out There", "Catherine Parr", "No Earthly Connection", "White Rock" and "Wurm". The album has been much anticipated by the large and dedicated Rick Wakeman audience and this release will be the first time this album has been commercially released.

Tracks: 1. Catherine Parr 2. Out There 3. No Earthly Connection 4. Dance of a Thousand Lights 5. The Cathedral In The Sky 6. White Rock 7. Wurm

DANIELE LIVERANI to embark on solo adventure

Perhaps better known as the keyboardist and musical mastermind behind
Twinspirits, Genius Rock Opera, Cosmics and Khymera; the
multi-talented Daniele Liverani is also a guitarist of considerable
skill as his new instrumental album "Eleven Mysteries" will testify on
20th July 2012 (Lion Music).

While "Eleven Mysteries" is basically a guitar oriented album, the
overall vibe of all the songs is definitely more like a "conceptual
instrumental album" where guitar has the role of a "virtual singer".

Musically there's some intense shred, but also some very melodic
moments, and the musicianship and arrangements of the talented line up
involved helped to create a wide variety of atmospheres and different
musical moments; due to the skills and different influences of the
various musicians - drummer Paco Barilla', bassist Tony Dickinson and
keyboardist Marco Zago.

However, this not only an album for guitar lovers, but for anyone that
appreciates musical composition on a more general level with lots to
discover in and each and every track along with a first class
production.

Barclay James Harvest - Crystal Palace Garden Party cancelled

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but the Crystal Palace Garden Party scheduled for June 23rd has had to be cancelled because of estructural/safety issues with the stage. Here's a message from the organisers:

It is with great disappointment that I must notify you guys that the Crystal Palace Garden Party will not now be able to go ahead.

When it was realised that a 1.5 ton scissor lift truck must come on to the stage to erect the sails and rigging some cursory tests were made to the structure.

There was some obvious weather wear to the stage and the temporary boards that were put down some time ago ... On closer examination it seemed there might be a problema structural engineer was called and rotten joists checked etc it was discovered the delapidation was much worse than was at first thought Any sign off on safety or otherwise of the structure cannot be made possibly for several weeks or more...

Under other circumstances postponement to a new date would be an obvious option but due to the Olympics, no Police support can be used until after the Paralympics and after then, the park already has other events in the diary up to the end of September after which it is unfeasible to have an outdoor concert...

To me this represented an opportunity that I have been working towards for several years and have been working solidly over 5 months 7 days per week!

I can hardly put into words the frustration I feel...

Yours sincerely and with a heavy heart

Mike Fox

NEARfestNews UK to headline sold-out NEARfest Apocalypse

We are delighted to announce that the legendary progressive rock supergroup UK will be joining the NEARfest Apocalypse lineup as the Sunday night festival headliner with a four-piece lineup. By some streak of amazing fortune, the members of UK had simultaneous availability in their busy schedules, and were able to assume the mantle of festival headliner with less than a month to spare before the event.

Revolving around two iconic musicians, keyboardist/violinist Eddie Jobson and bassist/vocalist John Wetton, UK was the last of the 1970s progressive rock supergroups. UK seamlessly melded dazzling instrumental virtuosity, incredible compositional prowess, classical and jazz influences, and memorable song-craft into two classic studio albums that have endured the test of time and earned the band legions of fans. In the second decade of the new millennium these two luminaries have once again joined forces to bring UK's timeless music back to the stage, thrilling audiences around the world at sold-out concerts. With an expanded four-piece lineup including celebrated rock/fusion drummer Gary Husband and noted fusion guitarist Alex Machacek, UK will feature music from both of its albums and classic-era King Crimson songs not able to be performed with the 3-piece lineup that recently toured the USA.

NEARfest Apocalypse will occur June 22-24, 2012 at Zoellner Arts Center, Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA. Co-headlining with UK are Van der Graaf Generator (Friday night June 22) and Renaissance (Saturday night June 23). Although the festival has been sold out for some time, UK fans seeking to attend may look for second-hand tickets at the NEARfest website discussion forum Ticket Board (http://www.nearfest.com/forum/index.php) or the Progressive Ears discussion board (http://www.progressiveears.com).

Deadline - Heading West 'Produced by Beau Hill'

France is not known to be the country of prime Hard Rock bands… DEADLINE, of Parisian origin, is the band that intends to make you feel the difference!

The DEADLINERS hit the scene in 2009, after about two years of seeking out the steady line-up, ready and hard willing to knock down the listener with their blend of modern and classic hard rock anthems.

The band is composed of guitarist and founder Joris Béraud, guitarist Gabriel Lect, lead vocalist Arnaud Restoueix, bass player Sébastien Debbane and drummer Nicolas Ballu.

Their sound is shaped by the several and individual influences of each band member, ranging from the 70's to last decade's rock & roll. The guitar work is inspired by the likes of Slash, Doug Aldrich or even Steve Vai and the vocals are mainly influenced by bluesy hard rock singers such as Robert Plant and David Coverdale as well as heavier rock singers like Ronnie James Dio.

In late 2010, US multi-platinum producer Beau Hill gets in touch with DEADLINE through their MySpace. The band grabs the chance to collaborate with the multi-platinum producer Who has worked with world-famous bands such as Ratt, Winger, Alice Cooper, Warrant, or even Europe.

After releasing their first hit single "Dance with Style", followed by a second single "Heading West" (both engineered by Beau Hill), the band takes over like a storm on several FM and Internet Radio shows in Europe and USA.

Their first EP, engineered by Beau Hill, has been released in February 2012 on Sliptrick

Records in its digital format (physical out in April).

BAND LINE UP:
Arnaud Restoueix - Lead vocals
Joris Béraud - Guitar & backing vocals
Gabriel Lect  - Guitar
Nicolas Ballu - Drums & backing vocals
Sébastien Debbane - Bass & backing vocals

Mr Gil – listen to another track from the forthcoming album

Mirek Gil (ex-Collage, Believe) return with the fourth studio album by his project Mr Gil. The album entitled „I want you to get back home” brings the best, the most thoughtful compositions in the history of the band. Mirek Gil wrote wonderful, moving melodies. The words emphasize the atmosphere and  tell a story of homecoming - of a travel which sometimes is not easy, but is still beautiful. The sound is perfectly complemented by the cello and piano. „I want you to get back home”  is set to release on June, 4th in Europe and July, 10th in USA (via MVD).

Today, Mr Gil reveal another track of the new album. You can listen to the song “Come Home” at THIS location.

Mr Gil - I want you to get back home

Tracklist:
1. Time
2. Our Shoes
3. In Your Heart
4. Find Me
5. Change Your Name
6. Fix My Arms
7. Start Again
8. Goodnight
9. Come Home

The beginning of Mr Gil dates back to 1998. It was then that Mirek Gil, the guitarist of the progressive group Collage, decided to present his artistic abilities on his first solo album “Alone”. He invited his fellow musicians to this project: Olaf Łapczyński on vocals, Krzysztof Palczewski on keyboards, Piotr Witkowski on bass and Vlodi Tafel on drums. The most outstanding track on that album was undoubtedly the song “Beggar”, which to this day is often performed during the concerts of groups led by Mirek Gil. After the success of “Alone”, the band chose to keep silent for the next 10 years. In 2009, the idea of reactivating the project was born. The band released “Skellig” in 2010, this time with Karol Wróblewski (Believe) on vocals. Also in 2010, the band released the album “Light and Sound”. And now the band return with their fourth studio album entitled „I Want You to Get Back Home”. As the band say: „You can't plan everything. And especially you cannot control what comes out of the human soul. Because it is the need for honesty, friendship and passion that grew into the idea of Mr. Gil's new album. Friends decided to meet again in the studio to complete their story..." And this story started with their album „Light & Sound”, when the band's new improved line-up crystalized:  Mirek Gil (guitars), Karol Wróblewski (vocals), Konrad Wantrych (piano, keys) and Paulina Druch (cello). Their album „I Want You to Get Back Home”, recorded in the same line-up, brings 9 brand new tracks. „It’s like coming back home, like a return to peace and warmth” says Mirek Gil. „In our new music, there is a lot of friendship and that was the main idea behind it. Is there anything more important, more beautiful than this? We have managed to learn more about each other. It is in each other that we have found that home”.

TANK - listen to the sample tracks from "War Nation"

British rock legends Tank return with the highly anticipated follow up to their 2010 album "War Machine". Guitarists Mick Tucker and Cliff Evans, vocalist Doogie White and bassist Chris Dale are now joined by former Tank member Steve Hopgood on drums. Their new material entitled "War Nation" is scheduled for release on June, 4th in Europe and June, 5th in USA (via MVD) and today the band reveal the sample tracks from the new album on their official website. You can find them HERE.

Cliff Evans describe the new album, "As with our 'War Machine album, 'War Nation' will include a variety of different influences and styles. With a wealth of musical ability to draw from, we don't like to limit ourselves. Individually we've worked with names such as Ritchie Blackmore, Bruce Dickinson, Paul D'anno and Yngwie Malmsteen. So many bands release albums now where once you've listened to the first two songs you've heard the whole album. Not with Tank. Each song that makes it onto our album has to deserve it. Our standards are high." Doogie White continues, "With songs like 'Justice for All' and 'Grace of God' we are upgrading the TANK sound while retaining all the elements that made 'War Machine' so successful. There are killer riffs and haunting melodies and lyrics that you can take from, what you want, or indeed what you need."

Tank - War Nation

Tracklist:

1. War Nation
2. Song For The Dead
3. Hammer And Nails
4. Don't Dream In The Dark
5. Grace Of God
6. Dreamer

8. Wings Of Heaven
9. State Of The Union

The set list will include fan favourites such as 'This Means War' 'Echoes of a Distant Battle' 'Power of the Hunter' and ' The War Drags Ever On' plus future classics such as 'Judgement Day' and 'Phoenix Rising'.

At times, the music is very strong and dynamic but there are also moments of melancholy. The lyric describe the world and the realm of emotions and feelings through the prism of personal experience of our vocalist, but don't always relate to actual events and situations. They focus mainly on the burden of responsibility for the choices we make each day and the consequences associated with them."

NOKO was created in late 2004 by two musicians: drummer Thomas "Radom" Radomski and guitarist Michael "Little" Perkowski. The final line-up was formed when Michał "Jurgen" Jaroszewicz (vocals) and Michał "Majka" Zybert (bass) joined the band. The band debuted on stage in June 2008 and, the same year, set off on a short tour in England. In 2011, the band took part in the first Polish edition of the TV show “Must Be The Music”. After performing three songs from the debut album, they conquered  the hearts of both the jury and the audience, thus getting to the final of the program. Performing at the 2011 edition of the festival in Jarocin was another great success for them as they won the prestigious Audience Award - Golden Chameleon.

Magellan Releases Cover of Immortal Kansas Hit

"Dust in the Wind" Reinterpreted by California Prog Band - May 22nd,
2012, San Francisco, CA – Veteran progressive metal/rock group
Magellan have just released a cover of the classic Kansas hit "Dust in
the Wind" as a digital only single. The song showcases Magellan's
interpretation of the iconic piece which was produced by Trent
Gardner. Simultaneously, they have also released a full-length digital
album entitled, "Innocent God".

The original song "Dust in the Wind" was released by Kansas in 1977
and reached number six on the Billboard Charts. That made it the
group's only top ten hit. While Magellan's version is certainly a new
interpretation, both the vocal melodies and lyrical concepts are
delivered expertly by guest vocalist Rob Lopez. Indeed, it was those
lyrics, particularly "Now, don't hang on, nothing lasts forever but
the earth and sky / It slips away, and all your money won't another
minute buy" that inspired Trent Gardner to create a new version of the
song.

Magellan was formed in the San Francisco Bay area in 1985. The Gardner
brothers have been the core of the group since its inception. Guests
on various Magellan albums have included Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson,
Tony Levin and Twisted Sister's Joe Franco. Throughout the group's
history, one of the driving motivations in terms of musical direction
for Magellan is to keep the "rock" part of "progressive rock" alive in
their music. Like the explorer whose name the band took, Magellan
strives to forge new and unexplored paths.

That explorative nature is also reflected in Trent Gardner's other
project, "Explorers Club." With that group Gardner worked with such
musical luminaries as Billy Sheehan, Yes' Steve Howe, Steve Walsh of
Kansas, several members of Dream Theater (John Petrucci, James Labrie,
John Myung) and Terry Bozzio (Missing Persons, Frank Zappa).

For more information you can check out Magellan on the web at

The single can be downloaded from Apple's iTunes and emusic - or the

MORRE's two mini albums "Out There and Contrast"

Consisting of Adrian Tonceanu (Vocals/Guitars), Igor Lazebnik (Vocals/Guitars) and Tyler Koch (Drums/Backup Vocals) Morre was born in early 2008 in Toronto Canada, by the common thirst of creating an original, dynamic yet accessible sound.

This band has a unique story behind its upbringing. Traveling through different parts of the world, each member endured hardships as artists, as well as the joys of meeting new characters throughout their journeys.

These elements give the band endless topics and depth to their lyrical and musical content. Combining dark, mystical themes with camp-fire vibe, this band will trigger a wide range of emotions in their listeners.

With a deeply rooted musical knowledge these three rockers managed to craft an elaborate yet easily digestible sound of their own, using auxiliary instruments, vintage organ and recording methods.  Morre's influences are so vast that it's hard to place them in a category of recycled rock.

Though they are a classic rock band, it's almost like they found a fresh sound that was not explored.  If one was to describe the band's style, the closest ancestors would be "Paint it black" (Rolling Stones) and "Kashmir" (Led Zeppelin).  The selling point of this band is that it doesn't sound like any other band.

By performing at several venues throughout Ontario and Quebec, the band managed to catch the attention of various labels in the early stages of their existence as well as attracting audiences of all age groups.

As a result the band got signed to USA based label "Melodic Revolution Records" in January of 2011. With a powerful live delivery reinforced by conviction and strong dynamics, Morre keeps the audience in the palm of their hands. The band is very charismatic and treats their audience with class, respect, making everyone an ally. One of the many unique characteristics of the band is defined by a Queen-esque ability to all sing in harmony. The two distinct sounding singers/guitar players (Igor and Adrian) give the band a panned stereo flavour that will make you bend back and forth between the left and right speakers of your stereo system. These two songwriters create music that is honest and it is delivered in the authenticity of their voices.

Adrian's smoky-lounge baritone (some of the influences: David Gilmour, Jim Morrison, David Bowie, David Gahan and etc.) and Igor's raspy melodic tenor voice (some of the influences: Layne Staley, Eddie Vedder, Mike Patton and etc) complement each other, giving the band many options with a rare edge. Both Adrian and Igor are lead/rhythm guitar players with many common influences such as David Gilmour, Slash, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Keith Richards, Ritchie Blackmore and more. Tyler's diverse drumming and ability to personalize each song is an integral part of the overall sound. Combining a
Ginger Baker/Keith Moon stage persona and style, Tyler is hardly the guy at the back, sharing the spotlight. Morre is known to hire professional bassists for specific events or for their tours which explains why there is always a new face, a fourth member in the band.

Their two records "...Out There" and "Contrast" released in 2010 and 2011 are selling consistently throughout the world, gaining highly acclaimed reviews in North America, Europe and Australia. The albums were featured on many radio shows throughout the above mentioned continents touching a wide demographic range. These albums stablished Morre as an original sounding band and carved a unique path that can be recognized from the first seconds of any of their songs.

In 2011 Morre toured Europe successfully for two and half months playing in 12 countries over 33 concerts as well as taking part of radio shows and interviews for magazines. Upon their return to North America they also played in USA part of the Clinton Arts and Music Festival sharing the stage with many great artists. Currently the band is working on their 3rd record entitled "Morphine" with the deadline set for April 2012. Morre will tour Europe again in 2012 for over three and a half months in the summer/fall of 2012 with the
aim of performing in at least 15 countries.

"To sum up Morre, they are like a Led Zeppelin Pinot Noir. Take the sound of Led  eppelin, add in a bit of modernization, a dash of World flavour, and let age in your iPod.", Craig Wettner (Blogs N' Roses)

Press Quotes:
"I'm rather impressed with this eight track debut from the young Canadian 3-piece (Adrian Tonceanu (Vocals/Guitars), Igor Lazebnik (Vocals/Guitars) and Tyler Koch (Drums/Backing Vocals)). There's a maturity to their impressively varied song arrangements which gives plenty of depth to their considered guitar-rock.  Professing their "world sound" to be a combination of "Paint it black" and  "Kashmir", there are indeed elements of rock history as they begin to forge their own sound. They already have a lot going from them: excellent harmonies above  striking rhythms, nifty riffs over acoustic and electric textures, and a confident  and clear sound. It's a short album, (less is Morre, I suppose), but we'll soon hear more of them with second release "Contrast" due out shortly" - Miles Bartaby Classic Rock Society, UK

"The Toronto-based group has a very bold and unique, yet catchy sound, with the roots of legendary Rock'n'Roll icons such as Bon Jovi, Led Zeppelin, and Pearl Jam; as far as the modern-rock base of Creed, the Tea Party, and Disturbed. This can be heard in tracks such as "Lady of Lust" and "Winding Roads". With their scorching riffs and finger picking solos, they will make you want to rock out for hours, giving you an endless head-banging party. After listening to Contrast EP front to back, I would HIGHLY recommend giving these guys a tryout for your iTunes roster" - Mike Yorke - LivemusicTO

"If you like well thought out, exceptionally played rock that features vocals by singers that can really sing and players that can play with the ferocity of demons and the grace of angles then you will like Morre. The guitars are killer – they can go from the beautiful and haunting (the beginning of Winding Roads) to absolutely screaming (the solo on I Can't Remember). The thing that sets these guys apart is just how talented all three of them are. Most bands have one guy that stands out, not Morre though. Each of these guys is simply a monster player. When you add vocals that are well, fantastic, you have some serious magic. The vocals on every track match the music in intensity and quality. There is not a bad song on the album; in fact I have a hard time picking out a favorite track. This is a great album that I wholeheartedly recommend." - Grouchy Gaijin,

"Coming out of Canada with all the ferocity of a tsunami comes new classy melodic rockers MORRE, who with their radio-friendly sound should surely be set to blow  up big time real soon. The music found on …OUT THERE definitely has a modern tinge to it, but also has all of the mentality and appeal of some of the great guitar bands of the past like CREAM, LED ZEPPELIN, PINK FLOYD… The overall feeling I got about the album was that it was very classy and should have mega-appeal to anyone that likes their music with some heart & soul mixed with the rockness. …OUT THERE is an album that has been expertly written, virtouistically played and produced perfectly, and for a debut album I must admit it is truly breathtaking in places." - ZeeZee Hudson, My Global Mind Zine

"Believe me at this moment while listening to Morre I am not sitting still. Each tune must flows perfectly and melodiously from one to the next. Individually each track stands solid adding a special dimension to the entire CD experience. I love their sound which is why I play their music so often on my radio program and I will continue to do so. Morre is exciting and one of the best independent bands on the music scene today. They are excellent musicians with a great, carefully produced, meticulous sound and they have an amazing stage presence which is obvious by watching their videos. If there is any band on the scene today that deserves to be recognized on a global scale it is definitely Morre. They are more than studio musicians. They are ready to take the show on the road in a big way. I am looking forward to their next release and I am also looking forward to seeing Morre live." - Andrea Garrison, All Voices.com

UK Progressive Rock Ensemble Galahad Releases Highly Anticipated New CD 'Battle Scars'

London, UK – 'Battle Scars' is the new studio album from established English progressive rock band Galahad just released on Avalon Records. The CD was recorded, engineered and mixed by Karl Groom (Threshold) at Thin Ice studios. 'Battle Scars', Galahad's seventh studio album, shows the band evolving from their well received and critically acclaimed 2007 album 'Empires Never Last'. 'Battle Scars' is the first of two new albums from Galahad scheduled for release this year.
'Battle Scars' contains a myriad of styles from rock and prog through to techno, ambient and dance sounds via classical arrangements. Throughout, the production is modern and pristine, incorporating powerful, direct guitar riffs, lush keyboard arrangements and occasional quieter passages of subtle beauty, melding together to create an often massively epic sound. "I guess the whole gamut are in there," explains vocalist and founding member Stuart Nicholson about the album's variety of themes, "frustration, anger, disbelief, reflection, the acceptance of reality, fighting spirit against the odds, hope for the future, negativity, positivity and more besides."
'Battle Scars' is Galahad music for the 21st Century: very much looking forward but also showing occasional and affectionate nods to the analogue past.
In recognition of the band's 25 year plus history, a new recording of their classic song "Sleepers" is included as a bonus track on the CD and download version. "I think the whole package works really well," says Stuart, "the monochrome graphics and images with the odd splash of red here and various pieces of pertinent imagery match the atmosphere of the music perfectly."
As always, the proof of the pudding is in the listening, as the band suggests: "Go on, give it a whirl, leave your preconceptions at the door and play it loud! We know it's our best album yet, and hope you agree."
Galahad's 'Battle Scars' is available on CD, digital download and limited edition high quality 180gm vinyl LP in a gatefold sleeve.
In closing Stuart Nicholson had this to impart to Galahad's devoted fans of many years: "I hope you like what we have come up with, and if you know us well you'll realize that we try and make each album different from the previous one, but still include certain Galahad traits. Plus, I'd like to thank all those who have shown patience and stuck with us – it is greatly appreciated by the band."
Galahad:
Stuart Nicholson – vocals
Roy Keyworth – guitars
Spenser Luckman – drums
Neil Pepper – bass, guitar & keyboards
