New AISLES live EP out now!

AISLES live EP out now!

"Live from Estudio del Sur", a mini-album recorded live, is available on CD and digital platforms.

"Live from Estudio del Sur" is Aisles' latest release. The EP was recorded at Estudio del Sur, and includes newly done versions of the songs "Clouds Motion", "Shallow and Daft", "Still Alive" and "Club Hawaii". Germán Vergara, guitarist, describes it as "a blend between some of earliest and some of our newest compositions, all in the same set, with the current Aisles sound. 'Clouds Motion' is one of the first songs we recorded as a band. We also made a new version of 'Shallow and Daft', where we invited the singer Catalina Blanco from the band Téfiret. The last two tracks, 'Still Alive' and 'Club Hawaii', capture the hopeless atmosphere of our concept album 'Hawaii' and reflect what the band is doing nowadays. People will like the sound on the EP as the songs feel more organic and heavier that on the albums."

Also, these songs were filmed on a series of live sessions directed by Bernardo Quesney, who has also worked with Chilean artists such as Gepe, Javiera Mena and Colombina Parra, among others.

"Live from Estudio del Sur" is available on a limited edition CD and on digital platforms.

BIOGRAPHY

With four studio albums, Aisles have become South America's most acclaimed prog act of the last decade. Their daring combination of rock, fusion, jazz and world music illustrates the band's uniquely eclectic approach.

The group has played in the Americas and Europe, and their albums have been published in Europe, North and South America, and Japan.

In 2009, their second album, "In Sudden Walks", was nominated for Best Foreign Record in the Italian Prog Awards and the group was invited to open the 11th Progressive Rock Festival Crescendo in France. Their third album, "4:45 AM" (2013) was widely acclaimed worldwide and was chosen among the best albums of that year in a number of specialized publications. "Hawaii" (July, 2016), their fourth studio album was called a "masterpiece" and named one of the albums of the year by media outlets such as Prog (England), Neoprog (France), Raw Ramp (England) and Chile's premiere rock magazine, Rockaxis. The band also toured Europe, Mexico and the United States for the first time in their career. Currently, the band is working on their fifth studio album, to be released in 2019, which will include songs described as "charged with complex emotions and with a more modern sound."

Meltdown in Mexico includes, for the first time with this line-up, audio recordings of "Breathless," "Discipline," "Moonchild" and Tony and Jeremy's nightly Cadenza improvs. Mixed by King Crimson member Bill Rieflin from full multi track recordings

King Crimson Mexico 2017 - photo by David Singleton

King Crimson is a band that continues to defy conventional expectations. As listeners to last year's rush-released official bootleg from June 2017 recorded in Chicago discovered, this band gets better by the year. Given the amount of rehearsals, practicing, constantly expanding repertoire base (nearly six hours' worth of material ready to select from on any given night), wealth of experience among musicians, technicians/sound crew, more comfortable traveling arrangements, better PA systems/mixing desks & the fact that the band is playing, for the most part, in purpose built theatres rather than the more imaginatively named but sonically challenged venues that hosted rock gigs in previous decades, this should come as no surprise. But it does. Perhaps it's still part of the Rock 'n' Roll myth – the "hope I die before I get old" thought process that seems forever associated with rock music that's proved so difficult to alter. Whatever the reason, the concept of a band maturing, re-inventing itself and being able to present music from a lengthy history in recognizable but ever-changing ways, still with same sense of wonder as if it were newly-written, remains, if not unique, certainly notable.

A few weeks after the Chicago concert, the first part of 2017's tour reached its final destination – five nights of concerts in Mexico City. All of the concerts were recorded and filmed with a view to issuing a definitive document of Crimson live in 2017 and Meltdown is the result of that process. With over two hours of HD filmed performance and three hours of audio, Meltdown offers a comprehensive overview of a band at the very peak of its performing ability.

King Crimson's Meltdown in Mexico will be released on September 28th and will be distributed by Amped Distribution.

Guitarist Tone Masseve To Release Debut Album “Amp L'étude” Feat. Jethro Tull Drum Legend Doane Perry

"Playing with Tone was one of the most illuminating musical experiences of my career. Yes, he's that good." - Graham Parker

NYC - The singing sustain of multiple razor edged electric guitars, the monster rock backbeat of Jethro Tull drummer Doane Perry and The Moonlight Sonata? Yes, This mash-up is the concept behind Tone Masseve's album "Amp L'étude." Classical pieces? Yes, but these are not the dry, conventional versions we've all heard before. The album vividly brings these compositions to life with a new and powerful sound.

Tone said, "In my childhood I was exposed to many different musical styles and genres. Although I am really a blues player, I also love the music of Bach, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Schubert, Chopin and Debussy. I wanted to play their classical pieces with a rock sound and attitude." He used the feedback, bends, shakes, falls and dives of his guitar heroes; Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, early Eric Clapton, Robert Fripp, Brian May, Joe Satriani and George Harrison to do just that.

Tone's dynamic playing combined with Doane's great rock feel, give this music of the masters an entirely new presentation. Some of the sound and production techniques of this record are drawn from famous rock tracks such as; "Whiter Shade of Pale," "The Hill of the Skull," "God Save the Queen," "Wind on Water," "She's so Heavy" & "Girl," and, "1983… (A Merman I Should Turn to Be)."

Every now and then a brilliant and fully developed artist arrives on the scene. Such is the case of Tone Masseve's enigmatic emergence out of the shadows. His sonic identity, unique voice and concept and his blending of seemingly disparate styles simply amazed and surprised me. Tone's inspired and highly original take on some of the most hallowed and iconic classical music ever composed is eloquently orchestrated, passionately and precisely executed and a wholly satisfying aural experience! I believe any of the great composers represented would be honored and thrilled to hear their music so creatively reimagined and lovingly brought to life within such a modern and innovative context.

One of the most powerful elements in his music is the thick, sonorous and clear voice which he elicits from his "Guitorchestra". Speaking as one who participated in this exciting project, I found the rich harmonic blend and counterpoint combined with the strength and subtlety of his parts, compelling and utterly inspiring to play off of ... and was astonished to think so much of this was coming through the head, hands and heart of a single musician. And I never even met him. I don't know how he did it but that is one of the delightful musical riddles which does not need solving.

Joyful, biting, menacing, muscular, melancholy and euphoric are apt descriptions which are summoned to mind when I listen to his music. All of those elements provided a powerful catalyst for my own contributions. I am honored to have worked with this gifted artist and to have been a part of such an original musical adventure … and I would like to think the mysterious and hugely talented Tone Masseve will not remain unknown for much longer.

Doane Perry

Tone started playing the guitar at age 6 and performing live at age 15. By the time he was 18 he was doing session work in NYC. Legendary Graham Parker saw him playing with a band called Robazz Bowtime, and asked him to play a few gigs. Graham said, "I didn't play with Tone for a great deal of time, but it was one of the most illuminating musical experiences of my career. Yes, he's that good."

The recording started in 1995 and took more than 20 years to complete. The guitar parts alone took more than two years to record. In 1997, while still working on Amp L'étude, tragically, Tone got pneumonia and died.

In 2016 a wonderful and talented group of musicians came together to finish his long lost album. The first was Doane Perry who added his hard hitting rock drumming to six tracks. Doane was the drummer for the legendary, Grammy winning rock band, Jethro Tull, for twenty-seven years. He also played with Lou Reed, Todd Rundgren and many, many others.

Next was Garry Kvistad who is a Grammy award winning master percussionist. He is a member of the four man percussion group Nexus. The New York Times called Nexus "the high priests of the percussion world." Steve Reich said, "They are probably the most acclaimed percussion group on earth." Garry added orchestral percussion; tympani, large gong, orchestral bass drum, glockenspiel, orchestral chimes, and symphonic crash cymbals to two of the pieces

Then members of the vocal group Prana added their voices to a couple of tracks. They gave one piece, "Maria, (She's so) Ave" a decidedly Liverpudlian sound. Finally Maria Todaro was brought in to conduct the choir for "O Fortuna." Maria is not only an internationally renowned opera singer, stage director, and conductor, but also the general director of The International Festival of the Voice. For this recording, with her deep understanding of the voice as an expressive instrument, she evoked an impassioned performance from the choir.

On YouTube there are twelve 30 second sample videos, one for each of the twelve pieces from "Amp L'étude. "The videos feature the characters from the front cover of the album: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2Wu-VN7bmX2249K3hIJy8HgFZTfJC208

In closing Tone had this to impart, "Music has no boundaries. If you play it with all of your heart it doesn't matter what style it is, the feeling will come through."

The Pineapple Thief Release New Single & Video For "Try As I Might" Taken From Their Forthcoming Album Dissolution

The Pineapple Thief  have launched their brand new video for "Try As I Might", the new single from their forthcoming new studio album Dissolution . The highly anticipated follow up to 2015's Your Wilderness, is the band's second album to feature King Crimson and Porcupine Tree drummer Gavin Harrison.

Vocalist, songwriter and guitarist Bruce Soord explains his dystopian view "The video follows the theme of the song and the album - if you sign up to this hyper connected world we live in, then you have to live with the consequences. Try as you might to get out of it."

WATCH THE VIDEO FOR "TRY AS I MIGHT" HERE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yBCcT3L2e0&feature=youtu.be

The futuristic clip was created by Blacktide Phonic/Visual (www.black-tide.co.uk) director George Laycock, who expands on how he created the film "When The Pineapple Thief came to me with their track 'Try as I might', they had a broad basis for an idea for a music video that dealt with a social media obsessed 'connected' world.

This had nods to previous films and television like 'The Truman Show', 'Black Mirror', the 'Big Brother' landscape and its preceding shows, so it was about creating a storyline using these broad influences and encapsulating into an obscure 3 minute film on a budget.

I was interested in the concept of 'in eye cameras', scary technology I am sure isn't too far away from us. We decided to go down the optical medical route and follow our character on a journey from first pre-operation, to surgery, recovery and then trying to battle the decision he has made, whilst battling with the corporation he has signed up too. The film hopefully leaves the viewer to create their own conceptions on his outcome.

We filmed it all on the Dorset/Devon coastline around where I live and were fortunate to be able to secure great locations to shoot in with a few favours, including a remote seaside post-modern house, a private beach and a real working hospital and opticians.

To keep the cast down to a minimum I decided that the camera that is watching Bruce would become the main supporting actor and his nemesis, appearing in scenes without anyone operating it. This allowed us to see the cameras point of view and tell the story to the fictional viewer. This old broadcast camera weighed an absolute ton, and carrying through remote woods, down a mile-long steep cliff path to a beach was a challenge on some of the hottest days of the year. Filming in the water at the end was a welcome refreshment.

Many thanks to all those who helped with the film, especially everyone involved at Yeovil hospital for allowing us such amazing access, and to Bruce for being so amenable about having scalpels inches from his eyeball."

The Pineapple Thief have grown to become one of the leading lights of Europe's experimental rock domain, Your Wilderness produced 4m+ album streams, a #7 in the UK Independent Charts and two extensive headline European tours culminating at London's Islington Assembly Hall where the concert was recorded for the live release Where We Stood, and their new album Dissolution promises to propel the band to even greater heights.

EDENSONG with Special Guest Stefan Paolini at ProgDay 2018!

"A great example of the contemporary face of progressive rock."
- Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull)

EDENSONG's beginnings date back to the 1990s and the progmetal band Echoes Of Eden.  When that group disbanded, James Byron Schoen decided to form a new band.  The ultimate result was EDENSONG.

Releasing The Fruit Fallen in 2008, the band's initial release was a wonderfully eclectic mix of folk, classical, rock, progmetal and world music.  Their second studio album, Years In The Garden Of Years, continued to develop their unique sound and ended up on many "Best Symphonic Albums of the Year" lists for 2016.  When keyboardist Stefan Paolini departed in 2017, rather than find another keyboard player, EDENSONG furthered their eclecticism by bringing virtuoso koto player Kento Iwasaki into the fold.   The band is currently working on their third studio album.

To make their ProgDay return as distinctive as possible, Stefan Paolini will be reuniting with EDENSONG at ProgDay as a special guest for a special performance.

Join EDENSONG, OVRFWRD, GEPH, KARMIC JUGGERNAUT, ALEC K. REDFEARN & THE EYESORES, FERNANDO PERDOMO & THE OUT TO SEA BAND, PIXIE NINJA and SOFTEN THE GLARE for the twenty-fourth edition of ProgDay.  ProgDay is a two day outdoor festival of progressive rock.  ProgDay 2018 will take place on Saturday and Sunday, September 1st and 2nd, at Storybook Farm in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. For more information, please visit us at www.progday.net.

GÖSTA BERLINGS SAGA – Sign worldwide deal with InsideOutMusic;Announce new studio album “ET EX”!

Announce new studio album "ET EX"!

Progressive rock instrumentalists GÖSTA BERLINGS SAGA from Stockholm, Sweden are not only glad to announce a newly signed worldwide deal with InsideOutMusic, but also the coming of their newest, 5th studio album effort entitled 'Et Ex' with a release date of October 12th, 2018.

GBS commented as follows:
"We are pleased and proud to announce that we have signed to InsideOutMusic. We're really excited to be part of this long-running label, for several reasons. Not only will we be able to spread our music even further and reach new listeners but we also see this as a great opportunity and a perfect starting point, allowing us to focus even more on what we love - creating, recording and performing progressive music.

Our first release on InsideOutMusic will be our fifth album, titled "ET EX", on which we have developed our eclectic instrumental rock even further with more of everything we love. More experimentalism, more contrast, and with more sonic variety than ever. Stay tuned for more details on album information as well as further show announcements."

The music of GÖSTA BERLINGS SAGA is an incredibly dynamic Nordic instrumental adventure, tilting from melodic, starkly beautiful lines shimmering like an aurora borealis over the desolate Arctic tundra, to powerful and aggressive riffs reminiscent of glacier calves crashing into rugged Scandinavian fjords. Over the years the band's music has been compared to King Crimson, Goblin and Radiohead, mixed into their very own and peculiar sonic universe.

GÖSTA BERLINGS SAGA was formed in 2000 in the Stockholm suburb of Vällingby, taking its bandname from one of the most famous works in Swedish literature, the debut novel of Swedish author Selma Lagerlöf, which was published in 1891. To date GBS have released 4 albums as follows: "Tid Är Ljud" (translated "Time Is Sound") in 2006, "Detta Har Hänt" (translated "This Has Happened") in 2009, "Glue Works" in 2011 and most recentlly "Sersophane" in late 2016.

While the latest release came out through the band's own label Icosahedron Music, GBS are now teaming up with InsideOutMusic as new worldwide label partner to launch their upcoming, fifth studio album entitled "ET EX" on October 12th, 2018. Further details and first sound samples will be revealed soon, but in the meantime you can already preview the artwork for the upcoming release here…

Jordsjø - Jordsjø - Karisma Records - 7 September 2018

Jordsjø is a prog band from Oslo, Norway inspired by old horror movies, German 70s synth music, Swedish prog, fantasy novels and Norwegian nature. They released three cassettes before releasing their first "proper" album " Jord " in March this year. This 2CD release is a collection of all the songs from these three earlier cassette releases: "Jordsjø", "Jordsjø II" and the split release with Breidablik, "Songs from the Northern Wasteland".

This 2CD set contains plenty of nods to older (especially Scandinavian) prog. There's an underlying theme of alienation, roots and dreams – with an organic and dynamic sound which gives associations to 70s prog, with traces of electronic music and folk. Plenty of flute, guitars and a vast array of vintage synths - resulting in a warm and vintage sound, while still sounding fresh and interesting. Most of the instruments are played by multi-instrumentalist Håkon Oftung (Tusmørke, Black Magic), with drummers Kristian Frøland, Martin Nordrum Kneppen (Wobbler, Tusmørke) and Tore Flatjord.  Guest artists: Håkon Knutzen (guitars) and Vilde Mortensen Storesund (vocals).

Overview: • Symphonic prog from the flourishing Oslo scene • For fans of Änglagård, Tusmørke, Black Magic, Wobbler, Sinkadus • Featuring band members from Tusmørke and Black Magic  • Ads in all relevant press

Oakland Power Trio STIMULI to Release Explosive Debut Album THEY ARE WE

Oakland, CA – Bay Area rock band STIMULI create thoughtful and heavy rock music about the human condition, delivered through Jimmy Tomahawk's melodic and edgy vocals and spacious and heavy guitar riffing, Tai Hake's solid and snarling bass tones, and Cole Andrew's intricate and powerful drumming. STIMULI will release their first official full-length album titled THEY ARE WE in stores and online worldwide on August 17, 2018. The album is a winding 11-track explosion of the trio's dense, ambitious, and fiercely original sound.

In April 2018, the band generated buzz when they released their debut single and music video for the album's title track, "They Are We." The single knocks out a Hard Rock, radio-friendly sound that also exposes the introspective themes of understanding and empathy that permeates their new album. THEY ARE WE was recorded at the idyllic Russian River Studios on the Ingels Ranch in Talmage, California, where Tomahawk and Hake had previously recorded with their band Yeibichai. Ken Ingels, the owner of the studio, was extremely helpful, and they enlisted Andrew Miller to engineer and mix the album, and Mike Wells for mastering. For the artwork and album layout, the trio had their eyes photographed and then overlaid the irises so that the colors merge and overlap, accomplished thanks to the superb talents of Michael Miller at Digital Realm Productions, who brought their vision to life in a way that represents the music on the album exceptionally well.

Not only do STIMULI masterfully rock the traditional power trio format, the band also incorporates synth atmospherics and eclectic instrumentation that is not often associated with contemporary Hard Rock. Bassist Tai Hake also plays Theremin, and their music features Native American flute, sitar, acoustic guitar and ambient synthesizers. Lyrically, STIMULI's themes possess a rare depth - insightful and meaningful, ruminating on personal experiences and reflections about peace, empathy, destiny, and self-actualization. Combined together, STIMULI are a sort of "Thinking Person's Rock Band."

While all members are of a shared generation, their influences run the gamut. The heavy, tight and polished sound of STIMULI has been compared to Alice in Chains, Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, Tool, Rush, and Nirvana. The individual and collective history of the band is just as varied and multi-faceted as their music. Comprised of seasoned musicians from around the world (drummer Cole Andrew is from Australia), STIMULI is a collage of three very strong-willed personalities who, like most productive collaborations, happen to have chemistry and work well together.

"Our music contains a strong emotional intensity with personal, social, and philosophical messages about the human experience," explains guitarist/vocalist Jimmy Tomahawk. "Although there is an undeniably serious disposition in the band's message, as individuals, we don't take ourselves very seriously at all - satire, slapstick humor and wisecracks are the norm when we are together. It's a bit of a collective Jekyll & Hyde scenario, really. We try to remind ourselves that the initial spark of passion and the joy of playing music that caused us to pick up our instruments in the first place is why we do this!"

The formation of STIMULI began following the split of Bay Area rock band Yeibichai, the brainchild of Tomahawk and Hake. When Tomahawk came across a video of Cole Andrew demonstrating his powerful and detail-oriented drumming, he reached out and they began to jam. Tomahawk couldn't imagine any other bass player but Tai in the room with the sounds that he and Cole were creating. In 2013, STIMULI opened up shop in their new studio space at the fabled Soundwave Studios in Oakland. It was here that STIMULI became a band and their deep friendship and musical bond was solidified.

In early 2017 STIMULI found themselves at a crossroads. Things suddenly felt new, vivified, and stronger among the three of them, but a glaring question remained: who would be the voice of the band? Jimmy Tomahawk decided then that nothing was going to stop him from fulfilling his original plan as a young teenager of being the vocalist in his own band. With the encouraging support of his bandmates, Tomahawk began to write, and at some point along the way, singing became as fluid and as much of an unconscious operation for Tomahawk as playing guitar. In just a few short months the band was in the studio tracking drums and bass for the new album.

UK Psychedelic Rock Legends Pink Fairies Return With New Album 'Resident Reptiles'

Los Angeles - The legendary UK psychedelic anarchists return with a fantastic new album led by founding Fairy Paul Rudolph! Rudolph is joined by former Hawkwind bassist Alan Davey and original Motörhead drummer Lucas Fox, who not only created a killer rhythm section for the album but added a bit of sizzling biker-rock to the mix!

Another Pink Fairies/Motörhead member, Larry Wallis, was with the band in spirit as they churned out an excellent version of his tune "Old Enuff To Know Better!"

"I'd say this journey started with Nik Turner introducing me to Cleopatra Records. I was asked about the possibility of recording a LP under the Pink Fairies banner and thought - this would be a lot of fun. Get a few people together, turn the amps up to 10 and let 'er rip.

Larry Wallis wanted to be involved and Matt at Cleopatra suggested Alan Davey on bass and Lucas Fox on drums . It seemed like a good match considering the Hawkwind and Motorhead connections. Both Alan and I had been in Hawkwind and Larry and Lucas in the original Motorhead. We were all mates with Lemmy as well and the creative energy flowed as soon as we got to the studio in Austin.
All of this helped by Jurgen Engler of Die Kruups behind the desk with Eric the engineer.

So here it is - a spontaneous collaboration of ideas recorded mostly live. Thank you for listening.
Peace and Love" - Paul Rudolph
