HIGHWAY DREAM: “Wonderful Race” out in September!

"Wonderful Race", the first full-length album by Italian hard rock band HIGHWAY DREAM, will be released on September 23rd 2014 under Street Symphonies Records; this work was recorded at Atomic Stuff Studio by Oscar Burato.

The track list is:

01. Unbelievable
02. Don't Let You Die
03. Highway Dream
04. Many Reasons
05. Let Me Be Your Breath
06. Wonderful Race
07. Like An Earthquake
08. Falling Down
09. Some Stars
10. Born To Be A Rockstar

Line Up:

Isabella "Isa" Gorni – Lead Vocals
Roberto "Roby" Zoppi – Guitar
Gabriele "Gheghe" Frosi – Bass
Massimo "Max" Agliardi – Drums

Highway Dream is a band of rockers, a band of dreamers… their music is hard as a rock, remembering the best songs of '80s american rock, mixed with a touch of aor, fantasy and Italian style! The combination of Isa's amazing voice, Roby's sleaze guitar, Gheghe's strong bass and Max's explosive drums is the perfect mix for a great band and great live shows! "Wonderful Race" is full of heavy guitars, skillful vocals and consistently catchy songwriting and every song has the word fun written over it… all that is needed to enjoy a rock'n'roll album on a frequent basis! Hard hitting tracks like the opening song "Unbelieveable" or "Fallin' Down" and riff strong rockers with stunning melodies and wonderful harmony vocals like "Don't Let You Die", "Many Reasons", "Wonderful Race" and "Like An Earthquake" will make you want more and more! And the two "softer", radio friendly "Let Me Be Your Breath" and "Some Stars…" will show you the romantic side of the band. The rest of the album proves worthwhile and deserving: "Wonderful Race" is eclectic, none of the songs really sounds like the next, but together they work very well. You just have to sit down, pump up the volume and let Highway Dream bring you into this 'wonderful race'…

United Progressive Fraternity sign to InsideOutMusic for debut album; European tour starts September

InsideOutMusic are very pleased to announce the signing of United Progressive Fraternity for the release of their debut album 'Fall In Love With The World' this November. Formed from the ashes of respected Australian progressive rockers Unitopia, the band sees Matt Williams, Dave Hopgood, Tim Irrgang & Mark 'Truey' Trueack joined by Guy Manning (Manning, The The Tangent), Daniel Mash (Maschine, The Tangent), & Marek Arnold. The forthcoming album also features guest appearances from Jon Anderson of Yes, as well as Steve Hackett of Genesis.

The band had this to say about the signing & tour:

'We are absolutely thrilled to be signed to such a prestigious label as InsideOut and look forward to a long & fruitful partnership in the future. We are very proud of what we have achieved with the making of this, the debut album from UPF.   Everyone has worked incredibly hard to bring it together, and while the road we travelled to get here was a real challenge, the journey has been worth every step.   We have strived to create a richer, bolder, grittier sound trying to evolve a little more, and we truly believe we have succeeded in this. But none of it would have been possible without the commitment, passion and belief in the vision of the Fraternity, of every member of the band and the newly formed UPF family so now....we really are, all parts of the whole!!

We are very excited to be taking UPF to the road with our Promotional UK/European tour in Autumn, kicking off at the 2014 Summers End X Festival where we have the prime Saturday night spot on 27th September. We will be playing tracks from the new album and Unitopia fans will not be disappointed as we will be playing selected favourites from the Unitopia back catalogue. We are very much looking forward to all playing live together for the very first time! We intend to give our audience a musical journey they will not forget and hope that they too, will not just fall in love with our music but fall in love with the world!'

The band will embark on their first live dates later this year, starting with Summer's End Festival in the UK and continuing into Europe in October. The full list of dates can be found below:

Osada Vida reveal the title and release date of their new album

Osada Vida, one of the most interesting Polish bands on the rock/metal
scene, still work on their fifth studio album. Their material entitled
"The After-Effect" is scheduled for release on November, 3rd.

Their highly acclaimed previous album "Particles" made the band work
even harder on the follow-up material. In the meantime, the band have
undergone a few line-up changes: Bartek Bereska (guitar) was replaced
by Janek Mitoraj and drummer Adam Podzimski - by Marek Romanowski.

Rafał Paluszek, band's keyboardist comments: "Our new album, just like
it was with 'Particles', is not a concept album. We abandoned that as
a creative method. And when we came up with the title 'The
After-Effect', it was partly as a joke. An after-effect is a
consequence, the result of all that's going on in our lives. Every
album sums up a certain episode in your life. It crowns a certain
creative process, which is, after all, brought about by something, and
which is a lasting phenomenon. We experience certain things, every
event has some influence on what we do. Why shouldn't that apply to
the music we create? In a relatively short period of time, 2/5 of
Osada Vida's lineup has changed. Such changes are like a tsunami -
there are losses, but there's also a reason to build something new,
something we wouldn't dare to build back in the untroubled days. We
don't know what effects today's events will have. Looking at it from a
mathematical perspective, there's an infinite number of paths, each
branching out into an infinite number of paths as well, and so on.
That's what 'The Affter-Effect' is."

An up-to-date info from the studio is available on the band's facebook
profile: www.facebook.com/osadavida

Osada Vida is one of the most interesting Polish bands on the
prog-rock/metal scene. Their discography includes three demos and four
well received official releases - "Three Seats Behind a Triangle"
(2006/2007), "The Body Parts Party" (2008), "Uninvited Dreams" (2009)
and "Particles" (2013). Their albums feature elaborately beautiful
music in the vein of Yes, Porcupine Tree, Pain Of Salvation and
Riverside. In early July, Osada Vida released their first live DVD
entitled "Where The Devils Live" featuring the recording of their live
appearance at the Wyspianski Theater in Katowice, Poland in Autumn
2011. In 2012 the band debuted in a new improved line-up - they have
added a new vocalist Marek Majewski, previously known from the band
Acute Mind. In Autumn 2013 the band replaced guitarist Bartek Bereska
with young and talented musician – Jan Mitoraj. In Summer 2014 drummer
Adam Podzimski left the band and his place was taken by Marek
Romanowski.

Osada Vida is also recognized worldwide - they played at the famous
US' ROSfest 2011 and at the beginning of October 2012 they were a part
of Israeli ProgStage festival where they performed next to Andromeda,
The Flower Kings or Orphaned Land.

The band's fifth studio album is scheduled for release in November
2014. More details to be revealed soon!

Progressive Rock Band 2KX returns after two-year break with release of Sussuration

The band is fronted by keyboardist and composer Lisa LaRue who is thrilled to announce this unique new release after spending the last two years successfully battling to regain her health. LaRue said, "2KX is excited about being able to make music again, after taking a break due to health reasons. The track has a classic 2KX sound, and goes through four movements, the last illustrating sussuration which is the sound of wind through the trees".

The release involves an unusual feature in that one movement of the song will be available as a special 7", hand-shaped lathe cut record. The record is cut real time on a vintage 1940 record lathe. This movement is the ballad section of the song and the only part with vocals. The CD/EP will contain the full-length version of 'Sussuration" as well as a previously released singles from 2KX: "Lemniscate," a radio edit of "Sussuration," and a bonus of "Song For a Name – 2KX" by Johnny Unicorn It will be available as a CD and an mp3 album in addition to the radio edit "Sussuration" ballad which will be produced in a very limited quantity as the hand-shaped lathe cut 7" record. The CD cover art is by Keith Birdsong, famous for his Star Trek book covers and other outstanding work.  Digital downloads will be available September 1, with the CD, special edition record, videos and more available soon after.

2KX members are Lisa LaRue on keyboards, Steve Adams on guitar, Mike Alvarez on cello, John Baker for vocals, Merrill Hale for drums and percussion, and Don Schiff on bass and NS Stick. Baker, previously lead vocalist/guitarist for Mars Hollow as well as playing for Christian Love (The Beach Boys) and The Little Girls, joins as a band member on this release, as lead vocalist.  Special guests are Michael Wheeler playing Dilruba and violinist Brenda K of the Panache Orchestra. The album was produced and mixed by LaRue and mastered by multi-Grammy mastering engineer Adam Ayan of Bob Ludwig's Gateway Mastering.  Ayan is known for his mastering of bands such as The Rolling Stones, Nine Inch Nails, Rush, Linkin Park and numerous others.

Prior to their two-year break period, 2KX released "Fast and Blue," coproduced by Asia vocalist/bassist John Payne, who also provided vocals for the album along with Michael Sadler of Saga.  2KX was nominated as Best Instrumental Band at the 21st Annual Los Angeles Music Awards. Earlier career highlights for Lisa LaRue include  being the first female artist signed to the Sound of America Records (SOAR) Natural Visions sub label, the 2008 Oklahoma Music Awards "Native American Artist of the Year"  and a 2008 nominee for the Hollywood Music Awards Instrumental category.

MoonJune Records - THE NEW MARBIN'S ALBUM "THE THIRD SET"

IS AVAILABLE NOW ON MOONJUNE RECORDS!
THE BUSIEST HARDWORKING LIVE BAND IN THE USA!
 cover large

CLICK ON THE CD COVER FOR MORE INFO, HOW TO PURCHASE THE CD & DOWNLOAD, AND TO HEAR AUDIO SAMPLES of MARBIN "THE THIRD SET"

What does a band that has performed over 1000 shows during the course of the last four years do for an encore? – Recording a scorching, balls-to-the-wall, three-alarm live album seems like a natural progression! Without question, one of the hardest-working, most motivated and -driven independent bands in the world today, Marbin's The Third Set is a testimony to the work ethic, drive and determination which has become synonymous with their name, and the depth of musical diction, styles and textures these gentlemen have reached. Beyond that, it's a bone-crushing, no-holds-barred, sonic feeding frenzy -- as the young lions devour a sizzling set of their best material with unparalleled intensity!! Capturing facets of their style, sound and group interaction as only a smokin' live performance possibly could, The Third Set is the ultimate live document of a band in peak form and firing on all cylinders.

Ever the musical chameleons, Marbin continues to expand their horizons while pushing their music to the absolute limit! Both founders, guitarist Dani Rabin and saxophonist Danny Markovitch, show more-than-ample evidence of the fire that burns in them. Rabin's chops have never been more hard-hitting, emotional and convincing; with blazing legatos lines alternately punctuating proceedings with Beck-like melodic phrasings and sweet chord comp work, Dani's many hours of off-stage preparation and sustained musical growth are clearly in evidence. Markovitch is equal to the task: playing with more fervor than ever before, with his perfectly-interspersed and -articulated lines weaving their magic.

With Justyn Lawrence and Jae Gentile holding down the fort, laying down tight-knit syncopations and grooves throughout this scalding set, the band never sounded more on top of their game. (... who said "playing with fire" was a bad thing?) The Third Set is the next step forward in the evolution of Marbin, as today's prodigies transform into tomorrow's progressive luminaries. Fasten your seat belts for this one, kids: it hugs the tight corners while refusing to let off the gas!

The Leprechaun: folk is not dead!

With origins in punk, the band has stood by its original sound that
blends traditional folk, bluegrass, country and Celtic music

We could say that The Leprechaun is the new incarnation of the punk
rock band with the same name formed in 2009. But no. The new The
Leprechaun is much more.

Reformulated in 2012, from the first line-up remained the musicians
Eric Fontes (bass), Fernando Zornoff (drums) and Rafael Schardosim,
who switched the guitar for banjo! Yup! That's it! They also started
to listen to Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash and radically changed their
sound. Called a girl to sing - Fabiana Santos - included two
guitarists, Bruno Stankevicius and Paulo Sampaio, plus a violinist,
Andrew Nathanael. The result of all this? An acoustic folk with punk
energy like you never heard!

Caught the attention of the public and media since its debut, "The
Years Are Just Packed". How could a group come together into one
package the beauty and subtlety of folk played with the energy and
urgency of punk? Not forgetting the wonderful arrangements full of
references in bluegrass, country and Celtic music.

The band has captivated many fans since then. Inside and outside
Brazil. Their comprehensive sound still allows them to participate in
different festivals. From intimate folk events to big festivals in
celebration of the power of Mjöldir, the hammer of Thor!

"Long Road" is the title of the band's second album. Recently released
by the Brazilian label Hearts Bleed Blue (the same of bands like Blind
Pigs, Bullet Bane, Dance Of Days, Bidê ou Balde and Zumbis do Espaço),
the album brings 12 tracks and was recorded in a farm on the
countryside of Sao Paulo.

Punk or Folk. Country or Celtic. Doesn't matter, actually. The music
itself must be bigger than any label. And The Leprechaun follows this
philosophy without forgetting its roots.

"Our history has developed naturally," says bassist Eric Fontes.
"Today we do not miss the guitars to give more power to the sound, and
the fact that we sound more energetic does not prevent us to create a
quieter sound. I would say that simplicity is the punk feature that
most appears in our sound today, in the way we could rummage a song
with dozens of arrangements of lines, but the perfect music needs to
have a simple and efficient base melody. And there is no better school
to teach you this than punk rock".

Besides being able to purchase the physical edition on digipack
through the Hearts Bleed Blue site - www.hbbstore.com - "Long Road" is
entirety available for listening on Soundcloud. Listen:

Engineers, Under the Radar premiere "Fight or Flight" music video

ENGINEERS, UNDER THE RADAR PREMIERE "FIGHT OR FLIGHT" MUSIC VIDEO

Fourth album

"Always Returning"

out September

ENGLAND - Engineers will release its upcoming fourth studio album, Always Returning, on September 16 through Kscope. Today, the band has teamed up with Under the Radar to launch a music video for the track "Fight or Flight" at: http://www.undertheradarmag.com/news/premiere_engineers_fight_or_flight_video/.

"The video was mainly filmed in West Yorkshire but features a cameo from a butterfly at the end that flew into my studio and got trapped behind the window," Engineers multi-instrumentalist Mark Peters told Under the Radar. "I thought it was the perfect metaphor for the song so filmed it trying to get out for a bit before helping it to fly away."

Written and recorded alone at home in York by Peters before being coated with deft brush strokes of ambient electronica by celebrated German artist/producer, Ulrich Schnauss, Always Returning is a record that unhurriedly drifts in and out of focus, hinting at themes without ever making them so explicit that the listener can't map out their own personal interpretations. It delivers an overall emotional heft that's impossible to pull away from.

An Always Returning teaser video containing snippets of the tracks "Searched for Answers," "Always Returning" plus "Fight or Flight" can be seen on YouTube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GswJTg4ykGw.

1.  Bless the Painter
2.  Fight or Flight

5.  Innsbruck
6.  Searched for Answers
7.  Smiling Back
8.  A Million Voices
9.  Smoke and Mirrors
10.  Always Returning

Engineers - with London based drummer and composer, Matthew Linley, rounding out the line-up - has been creating mesmerizing music with brilliantly shaded guitar textures and teasing lyrical ambiguities for over 10 years across three albums - 2005's debut Engineers ("hypnotic lullabies from beautific Brit newcomers" **** Q), 2009's Three Fact Fader ("a blistering statement of intent" **** The Sunday Times), and 2010's swift follow-up In Praise Of More ("should be given to most UK bands as an example of in making an album that is a joy to behold" 8/10 Clash).

James Lee Stanley - The Apocaloptimist - Coming October 7th

James Lee Stanley "The Apocaloptimist"

The 27th release by the celebrated singer / songwriter

Available on October 7, 2014

If there ever was an example of the ten thousand hour theory, it's James Lee Stanley. He has been recording, composing and performing for decades and the expertise shows.

All of his previous recordings from duet releases with Peter Tork, Cliff Eberhardt or John Batdorf to the celebrated All Wood and... series to his solo work have been met with incredible accolades and regard and The Apocaloptimist continues the momentum.

Formed from the words apocalypse and optimist this new word is the perfect title for this thoughtful and extremely musical offering. These compositions all reflect a fully realized artist working at the peak of his powers. The songs demonstrate a keen insight and a poets soul coupled with remarkable musicianship and musicality.

Also included is a very unique take on the Beatles "Drive My Car" with an exceptional solo by Chicago blues legend, Corky Siegel.

The Musicians: James Lee Stanley: Acoustic, 12 String and Classical Guitars, Keyboards, Percussion, Lead Vocals on all songs. Chad Watson: Bass, Washington "Smowdown" Tahr, Drums and Percussion, Paul Barrere: Slide Guitar / Gypsies in the Hallway, James Hurley: Lead Guitar / Last All Night, Laurence Juber: Lead Acoustic Guitar / Highway 23, Corky Siegel: Harmonica / Drive My Car / Etude in E minor, Background Vocals: Lori Lieberman, Lisa Turner, Stephen Bishop, Severin Browne, Don Dunn, JC & Laney and James Lee Stanley.

If you have never been exposed to the work of James Lee Stanley, The Apocaloptimist is a wonderful doorway into one of the world's best kept secrets: the music of James Lee Stanley. He says of the album, "it's a combination of the words apocalypse and optimist. I think the world is going in a bad direction, but I believe in my heart it's going to turn out all right. And I work at making that a reality with every day I am blessed with being here."

The story behind each of the songs according to Stanley...

Living The Party Life

"First came to me as the guitar motif you hear that opens the song. In a matter of moments, the chord progression fell into place and I played it over and over waiting for something to take place lyrically. I wrote perhaps thirty verses to this song before I found the few that I used. Inspired by the mindless nihilism that seems to permeate our culture and our politics today. Quite a crowd on the background vocals and Stephen Bishop single background parts. Tried to channel Andy Summers on those guitar parts. Had a grand time."

Gypsies In the Hallway

"This began as a phrase that popped into my head that wouldn't go away. Then it became a poem that layed around the studio for a few weeks and then the melody just exploded onto it. Paul Barrere of LIttle Feat is playing that wonderful slide guitar. Stephen Bishop, Lisa Turner and I did the background vocals. You probably can guess who the gypsies really are in this fable. If not, think about lobbyists: the cancer in our congress."

Last Call

"Inspired by a little fantasy trip taken down memory lane, back to the days when I lived on the Monterey Peninsula of California up on the side of a mountain just south of Carmel. A dream of a time. Plus from working in so many bars thru the years, I always thought someone should write a song called Last Call. Turns out it was me."

Drive My Car

"A song I came up with for the another All Wood and ... series but the all the folks I approached with the idea of doing the Beatles didn't want to change a note of theirs. I love them as well, but I felt this was a fresh take on their song. Hope you like it. Corky did a truly amazing harmonica solo."

Here We Have My Father

"This started out driving on the road somewhere, in the car with the words and music just popping into my head wholecloth. When I got it home and tried it out on an instrument and found that it was really bad. Then I got the idea of putting space between each of the lines (something I started experimenting with that seems to bring remarkable results). After my father, it seemed that I had to include my mother and sisters and then, why not everyone else. The guitar part is one of my favorites. I tried to emulate the guitar part of McCartney's Blackbird, but with my chords. I go up and down that neck across all twelve frets. Very fun. So there you have it."

Highway 23

"A song I actually started when I was living in Santa Cruz out near 41st Avenue. The number 23 has always been prevalent in my life and seemed to lend the incomprehensible to the song. Put that melody to the words and then found I couldn't do it justice as a player so I shelved it until last year when I popped back into my head warming up for a gig at Shank Hall in Milwaukee. I tried it out and found I loved the floating key centers and the imagery. That's Laurence Juber taking that wonderful solo against my twelve string melody. He also added some amazing textures with his harmonics. Great player, great guy."

Etude in E Minor

"This showed up while I was warming up for a gig in Boise, Idaho. The melody would not go away and I had to record it. Corky surprised me by putting some very evocative harmonica on the track."

When You Get Right Down To It

"This started out as a poem I wrote the morning that I heard of Davey Jones passing. He was a very gracious fellow to me and I always liked him. Very vibrant dude, so I wasn't expecting his sudden demise. As I ruminated on him and the very transitory nature of all our existence, I started this little couplet that turned into a multi versed thing that I couldn't stop and the music showed up in the middle of that session. That's Lori Lieberman and I doing the background vocals. I love playing this song. I believe that Davey would have loved the playful take on life and death. RIP pal."

Last All Night

"Something different in that I wrote it on stage at the Caspar Inn, run by one of my favorite people on earth, Peter Lit. I was playing solo and got to rocking out and suddenly the folks who were sitting there listening just got up and started dancing. Doesn't happen too often with solo singer songwriters. I just sang this without thinking about it at all. When I got it home and started experimenting with the space and time thing I slowed it down put some olde fashioned swing to it. One of my favorite songs to play. It's just nothing but fun. James Hurley does a wonderful job as the jazz guitar soloist and that's me on the classical guitar prelude to the song."

Any Other Way

"This was a poem I wrote to the love of my life, Eveline, for our tenth wedding anniversary. Soon after I gave her the poem, I started fooling around with a melody and it was just so very natural and fun I had to record it. But I never liked the other recordings of it, so I never included it in a CD, but Chad does such nice bass stuff on this one and that sly percussion just made me happy to listen to it. I think the work of Paul Simon inspired this track."

Twinkle In Your Eye

"This started as a song assignment given me by the lovely Dalis Allen at the Folk Alliance International conference a couple of years ago. You are given a phrase and have to come up with a song. I had just been talking with my sister, Sandra, about Alzheimer's (her father in law suffered this sad disease, as well as several good friends of mine) and what a dreadful thing it is, so the two ideas just hooked up immediately. It took about ten minutes for this song to write itself, but a long time to get the right tempo, arrangement and accompaniement. Once I added those high twinkles on the classical guitar it came together."

Lullabye (for Chloe)

"This is a two parter, in that I wrote the guitar piece at the home of John Batdorf's sister Jackie in Ohio. Then that guitar part kept showing up when I would warm up and I thought that I should do something with it, as I liked it so very much. Fast forward a year or two and I am staying at the home of my friends, Patti and John Heller near Wilmette, Illinois. They were gone and I had the house to myself. I was sitting in the den with a fire going looking out the window at the pine trees covered with snow and thinking about the fact that they had just received word of their first grandchild's arrival. The words just fell out. This is just what it's supposed to be...a lullabyebye, the last tune on the CD.

I recorded this using the Reaper program (my favorite of them all) through my D&R Dayner board. The guitars I used were my Collings D2H, my Taylor 810ce, and my 1964 Guild mahogany classical guitar. The keyboard was #11 of the Alesis Quadrasynth. Still love it. The Mic was an AKG 414 modified by the late and great Stephen Paul over a decade ago. Mic and guitar cables by Mr. Wizard, Ken Goerres and I ALWAYS use Elixir Strings."

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's Robert Levon Been Pays Tribute To Late Father's Legendary Band The Call!

Los Angeles, CA – Much to the excitement of music fans worldwide, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's Robert Levon Been pays tribute to his late father, Michael Been, with an unforgettable live performance fronting his father's legendary band The Call in the upcoming live DVD / CD 'The Call Live Tribute With Robert Levon Been' (available September 2nd, 2014 via Label Records/Lightyear/Caroline).

"It's difficult to sum up what this show meant to me, but it was also just such a natural primal reaction to wanting to share the music and the joy we felt playing these songs together with more than just the 4 of us. The very first time i played with Scott, Dickie, and Jim in rehearsal together there was such an overwhelming love for the songs and the spirit that it couldn't just end there. We had to take it as far as we could go, to create an echo that would carry us all.' - Robert Levon Been

"What a joy it has been to reconnect with the band and the fans. I don't know how Robert pulled this off, but there were times during the show that I was not sure what year it was" – Jim Goodwin

Check out the premiere of the video for "I Still Believe": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzlNMBFEakg

While The Call (Michael Been, Tom Ferrier, Jim Goodwin and Scott Musick) got their official start in Santa Cruz, CA in 1979, its roots as a band go back to Michael Been's childhood in Oklahoma City, where seeing Elvis Presley perform on television changed the course of his life. That early interest in musical performance inspired his career, from the very beginning performing at the age of seven on local radio and television programs, to his eventual move to Chicago at the age of 16, where he was drawn into the blues scene by Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williamson, and Junior Parker. Been eventually made his way to California, where he connected with drummer Scott Musick, as well as Tom Ferrier (guitar, vocals) and Jim Goodwin (keyboards, vocals) to form The Call.

Despite having their initial demos rejected by all the major labels, the band found themselves in demand by nearly every major producer in America. The Call's debut album was ultimately produced by Hugh Padgham (David Bowie, The Police) and the band were suddenly opening acts for major artists including Peter Gabriel and Simple Minds.

The Call were signed to Mercury, Elektra and MCA, and released seven critically acclaimed albums over the next eight years, featuring several iconic hit songs including "Let The Day Begin" and "I Still Believe (Great Design)." In 1997, after a seven year break, the band reformed to release the album Heaven & Back, before disbanding once more. Michael Been began serving as sound engineer for his son Robert Levon Been's band Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, but passed away from a heart attack while working backstage at the 2010 Pukkelpop festival in Belgium.

Now after twenty years, The Call reunited at legendary Los Angeles venue The Troubador and gave an incredible live performance with Robert Levon Been stepping into his father's role and joining Musick, Ferrier and Goodwin for the one-of-a-kind event. For Robert - who grew up going out on the road with The Call anytime he had a break from school - the performance offered the chance to honor his musical legacy and perform nearly a dozen and a half songs from the band's esteemed catalog. And for original members Musick, Ferrier and Goodwin, the show allowed them the opportunity to honor their friend and their own musical legacy while revisiting a bond they thought was gone forever.

"The Call was always about a deep spiritual connection and an examination of life from an intense personal perspective. Now, we have the son doing a tribute to his father that has taken it to a new level...a truly joyous noise after a 25 year silence." - Jim Goodwin

'The Call Live Tribute With Robert Levon Been' will be available as a DVD+CD Deluxe Set on September 2nd 2014 and will also be available on CD, 180 gram double vinyl, and digitally (with 5 extra bonus tracks).

Guru Guru & Die Krupps Masterminds Launch Krautrock Mothership!

Los Angeles, CA - Climb aboard the Mothership for one of the wildest rides into the outer reaches of experimental music! Landing September 2, Mothership is the debut album from Guru Freakout, the thoroughly avant garde side project created by percussionist, singer, and frontman of the legendary Krautrock band Guru Guru, Mani Neumeier, along with über talented multi-instrumentalist/producer Jürgen Engler of German industrial band Die Krupps. With the help of bassist Scott Telles (ST 37), these two captains of the Far Out ride hypnotic, free-floating stoner rock grooves drenched in alien guitar fuzz on two epically long jams, the 30+ minute "Notre Dame (Mothership)" and the extended vinyl side-long aural hallucination "The Snows Of Mt. Bonnell," that will have audiences shouting "Take me to your leader!"

Engler tells the story of Guru Freakout's origin:

Mani is an old friend of mine. Near the end of 2012, he came to visit me in Austin where I had organized a show for him to play. We also planned to do some recording for a follow up project to Cosmic Couriers Other Places, which was released on Cleopatra in the '90s. At the same time I was working with bass player Scott Telles of ST 37, and when Scott heard that Mani was in town, he wanted to meet him since he had always been a big fan of Guru Guru. So the three of us got together at his rehearsal studio and started jamming right away. We had a great chemistry, so we decided to record a few tracks with a little digital recorder, and also at Ohm Recording Studio. When we listened to the tracks later, we realized that we had some really good material that should see the light of day, and so those recordings became the Guru Freakout album.

The music is built around Mani's relentless weaving drums. The guitar - psychedelic, atonal, bluesy and aggressive. At the same time, the bass - thunderous, Lemmy-sounding, with the energy of Peter Hook. All these elements combined to make for a very unique psychedelic experience...It's Guru Freakout time!

Fans of Guru Guru and experimental, improvised music will not want to miss this very special album. The CD version includes exciting bonus tracks of rehearsal recordings that give an early peak into the makings of one of the most adventurous musical collaborations in recent memory!

1. Notre Dame (Mothership)
2. The Snows Of Mt. Bonnell

ENCELADUS - "Journey to Enlightenment" debut cd available for promotional review and airplay.

Enceladus - Journey to Enlightenment Front Cover
ENCELADUS, the San Antonio, Texas based up and coming speed / power metal band humbly begin to make noise in 2012 right in the middle of the heavy metal capital of the lone star state.

The band organically flared up a virtual online metal storm worldwide upon the release of their 2013 Japan only EP titled "Time in A Dream" which received critical praise from metal music fans, media critics and fellow musicians.

On the strength of the 3 song EP, Enceladus brought forth and established a type of metal combining elements of speed and power metal in conjunction with
a dual harmony guitar assault, profound bass lines and energized drums; all synergistically combined with passionately sung, cosmically inspired lyrical elements to create an exhilarating and refreshing form of metal which their fans have categorized as "EnlightenMetal".

Not letting their EP become their sole calling card and becoming overshadowed by complacency, the core band members of Geo (Guitar), Soikkam (Vox) and Judas (Bass) embarked on a cosmic journey to write the ultimate shred inspired European speed / power metal influenced album which resulted in the creation of their 2014 debut full length cd "Journey to Enlightenment".

The debut cd includes all 3 songs from the Time In A Dream EP, as well as 10 brand new barnstormers.

HAWKWIND feat. BRIAN BLESSED - 'Sonic Attack' - Single release September 1 via Cherry Red Records

HAWKWIND

feat. Brian Blessed

'Sonic Attack'

Single release: 1st September 2014

It's the musical collaboration we never knew we needed, until now! Legendary space rockers HAWKWIND have teamed up with kingly thespian Brian Blessed on the brand new single 'Sonic Attack!'

When Hawkwind decided to recreate the classic Space Ritual show of 1972 for one night only at the London's Shepherds Bush Empire (22nd February 2014), the venerable group donated all proceeds to the animal charity Team Badger – of which Brian Blessed is a patron. It was a gig that set the wheels in motion for a storming new partnership.

When Dave Brock recorded 'Sonic Attack' he knew he wanted Brian Blessed to record the spoken word parts. Blessed was only too happy to contribute, recording the words as a nightmarish radio announcement. As effective as it was (you can still here a portion of this original recording in the song) it didn't sound like Blessed! For his part Brock recorded himself emulating Blessed and returned the recording!  The resulting vocals laid down by Blessed are not only captivating but triumphantly emblematic of the man himself.

The accompanying video was created by long time Hawkwind artist Martin McGuiness.

Watch the video here:

This powerful addition to the Hawkwind canon is available from 1st September 2014.

Pendragon - Men Who Climb Mountains - News from basecamp

The album summit has been reached, the flags have been waved and there is much excitement. So here's some news to get your crampons stuck into.....

We have decided to keep the whole package very simple this time, and therefore keep the price hugely affordable for all of you.  We know that people like fancy boxes and about 3 extra discs with instrumental versions, out-takes and all that kind of stuff, but they just gather dust on your CD shelf whilst your i-pod does all the work so, for Men Who Climb Mountains the focus is 100% on the music. Simple as that.

The 2 CD set edition will be a double jewel case with:

CD1 - The new album  - Men Who Climb Mountains

CD2 - Nick Barrett solo acoustic recording of last year's house concert in the UK [containing all the Pendragon classics]

Men Who Climb Mountains [2 CD set] will be available for pre-sales from the Pendragon web store from Friday 22nd August. £12 (plus p+p)

These pre-sales will be shipped on Monday 6th October.

Of course you'll also have the opportunity to buy Men Who Climb Mountains on tour!

Keep your eyes peeled on your e-mail in-boxes, sometime next week we'll be sending a link for the first sample of the new album.

Come and join us on the mountain top, the view is lovely and it sounds spectacular!
