DR CHRISPY, Renowned Australian Space Scientist, Aerospace Engineer, and Music Producer to Release New Single “VOYAGER AT THE HELIOPAUSE”

dcaadd98-7d95-4348-8bec-5585fd107d85.jpg

DR CHRISPY runs his home studio in San Francisco where he is actively writing and recording new music. DR CHRISPY's first full-length album VHS released in 2018 and was widely praised by national and international reviewers. A collection of mostly instrumental tracks, Chris began writing VHS in 2003 while traveling as an aerospace engineer. The tracks were written all around the world and capture the vibe of each place and moment in time. Exclusive Magazine calls VHS, "a wonderfully ambient, bouncy, fun, even thoughtful at times collection of instrumental tracks," while BabySue.com says, "Whether you're out clubbing or at home trying to get things done, these nifty little rhythmic creations will likely be just what the doctor ordered to get things going." VHS plays like an auditory travel diary, inviting you along to hear and experience the evolution from Dr. Chris Boshuizen, Space Scientist, to DR CHRISPY, the Artist.

Having worked at NASA for almost five years inventing new kinds of spacecraft, Chris went on to cofound the company Planet Labs, which launched and monitors over 200 spacecraft that create a daily map of the global environment. During all this, Chris spent nearly every spare moment writing music on the one instrument he always had with him: his laptop. Much of his music was written at airports or on planes, and over a 16-year period he has amassed an impressive catalog of material with over 300 tracks. Wanting to get some of his music out to the world, Chris decided to pursue his art full-time, adopting the nickname "Chrispy" that was given to him by his NASA co-workers. Unlike other notable "doctors" in the music industry, DR CHRISPY has a PhD in Physics, and in 2014 he won the Advance Global Award for being the Greatest Australian Not Living in Australia.

Chris bought his own computer in 1998, but using it for homework was an afterthought. Instead he built an audio workstation complete with an 8-channel studio sound card and mixing desk and set out to learn studio engineering and mixing. He also took up frequent guitar lessons, but over time his music workstation was replaced with a laptop, and as his space career took off, Chris naturally developed a new habit of producing electronic music while traveling. After completing his PhD in Physics at the University of Sydney he found a position at NASA Ames Research Center in Northern California, one of NASA's 10 centers around the US. There Chris worked on several fascinating projects, including a lunar lander, an electric airplane, and he also co-invented the world's smallest satellite called PhoneSat.

With the success of PhoneSat, Chris and his friends were emboldened to try something ambitious, so they left NASA to start Planet Labs. Today Planet Labs has launched over 200 satellites that were designed under Chris's leadership. Leveraging his years of experience with computer music, Chris has taught the introductory workshop on electronic music production at the last two annual Taxi Road Ralliesin Los Angeles.

Chris has no regrets about pursuing his space career, but always felt music would one day become his focus. With a lifetime of music production experience and a lower-stress job that afforded him a bit more free time, he assumed his alter-ego as DR CHRISPY and suddenly entered a prolific phase of writing with the feeling he now had something to say. DR CHRISPY's goal as an artist is to connect music and tech while bringing a message of hope and empowerment to his audience.

In 2016, DR CHRISPY began creating lyrical songs in addition to his instrumental music. This material will be released on his next album project. Chris still hopes one day to take himself beyond the Earth's atmosphere and feels he still has the passion to start another space company one day. You can catch more of Chris's space and technology thoughts on his personal twitter account at twitter.com/cboshuizen.

"VOYAGER AT THE HELIOPAUSE" will release online everywhere music is streamed and sold on June 14, 2019.

Geronimo Black “Freak Out Phantasia” Features Previously Unreleased Live and Studio Sessions Now Available on Vinyl/CD

f6884f17-eb7c-43fc-98ba-2938d9fc9abf.jpg

These previously unreleased live and studio sessions are a loose exercise in spontaneity, and sheer art, which has been lost in the mists of time. Geronimo Black, a truly underrated band from Los Angeles, had existed long before its self-titled debut album released officially by UNI Records in February 1972.

Composer, arranger, keyboard player, and founding member Andy Cahan, was also part of Dr. John's band at the time. Despite the fact that nearly all his players were part of the busy schedule of the evolving Frank Zappa's band Mothers Of Invention, Cahan attests that "it was a real band with every intention of getting a record deal. Of course, since Jimmy Carl Black, Ray Collins and Bunk Gardner were from Zappa's original band, that was a big selling point to record companies."

Talking about the songs on "Freak Out Phantasia" release, which preceded the first official album, Andy mentions that The Beatles were his main influence. Also, he name-checks other luminaries such as The Zombies, Kinks, Lovin' Spoonful, Hendrix, Cream, Dave Clark Five, and The Beau Brummels. The live output found on this release is part of their non-stop gigging system. It's worth pointing out that around that time, they were playing gigs with The Eagles, Delaney & Bonnie, The Byrds, Eric Burdon, Joe Cocker, Ike & Tina Turner, The Standells, Canned Heat, Southwind, Taj Mahal, Little Feat, and many others.

Some songs herein included were recorded in a prison. Even doing very well on their live adventures, in terms of breaking through in sales, Geronimo Black never had the same lucky destiny of many of their Californian contemporaries. Signing a record deal with Uni Records around Christmas time, they were essentially deemed a tax right-off and were billed thousands of dollars on no income.

Back to the present, some highlights of Munster Records' compilation include "Topanga Canyon People" and "Ooh Poo Pah Doo" (both live recordings showing their total intensity and stoned freak-out atmosphere, recalling Zappa's sound, which obviously they were part of). "Let Us Live" is a superb song, with a bluesy-pop-twisted Southern rock vibe. An alternate version of "Siesta" is another key song, and in some ways resembles "Flute Thing," a classic instrumental by The Blues Project. Now it is time to enjoy these recordings because they "reveal the raw passion and excitement we had on stage," as Andy concludes. Includes CD with four bonus tracks.

Martin Barre Drummer Dave Schoepke To Release Innovative Solo Drum Album “Drums On Low”

dad4a529-88c2-4946-b18a-2ff63e82acab.png

Drummer Dave Schoepke will be releasing his first solo drum album titled "Drums On Low" on July 15, 2019. Schoepke is an accomplished North American drummer, who has had the pleasure of working with the legendary Jethro Tull guitarist Martin Barre. Dave toured with Martin's band in 2017 and in 2018 for the "Cruise To The Edge" Tour. He's also been the primary drummer for The Willy Porter Band since 2002, and has loved every second of his time with the band. Dave has toured with Willy Porter on a number of occasions over the years, and has numerous television and radio appearances on his record. The amazing part is that Dave is able to do all of this, and still has time to devote to his own band Tweed. Tweed has been a mainstay touring in Europe for the last few years along with a number of other blues and soul groups.

Dave said this about "Drums On Low": "The music and recording are a direct response to my life changes. Post the birth of my son I was inspired to craft and assemble this album. The concept is simple: to make an album in response to the overwhelming feelings I had about my family and where I was as a musician at this stage of my career. What flowed out was soaked with the spirit of love and harmony between our family unit and the reality that rhythms of life which bind us are always there in the ways we talk, feel, think, breathe and react to one another. I was motivated to write music that to me resonated those elements."

The completion of this album was the realization of a dream of Dave's since age 16 to make music solely on drums and percussion instruments. Until now, that was an unattainable goal due to work demands, recording capabilities and costs. Written and recorded at Dave's home studio in the first 2 months after the birth of his 2nd child, this collection of pieces reflects the joy, wonder, and sleeplessness of being a new parent. The music was assembled in bits and pieces in between naptimes and family maintenance.

"My wife was very supportive in that when there was some free time, I was able to run downstairs and work on the music. Often, I began recording a piece only minutes after changing a diaper, feeding my son or some other family business. It was nearly impossible to separate the elements which is the biggest part of this whole story. The music is so directly informed by my day to day family life, and it's as much a reaction to those things as it is to my purely musical pursuits. At times I just sat down and the music flowed with no thought or preconceived ideas, nothing but a reaction to life with my family. Ultimately the content on the album is 1/3 pre-formed pieces, 1/3 sketches that were embellished on and 1/3 full improvisations. I had the intention of having it all ready to go ahead of time, and a lot of things were finished, but when inspired I was able to turn on a dime and go with where the muse took me, which often happened in the midst of working on another piece. My overall goal with this album was to create a body of work that reflected where I had been as a musician but with the intent that the pieces come across as songs rather than solos. All of the music was recorded live with no overdubs, punch-ins, or edits/splicing on a combination of drum kits with varied tuning schemes."

Some of the pieces are more melodically driven with the pitches, "Window, War Of The Grasshoppers, and Eleven Three" are examples of pieces that reflect that approach with mallets being the choice to draw the tones out. "Which One ARE You and N'ging" are informed with more traditional approaches and are considerably more aggressive. Some tracks are more experimental in form and approach, "Sound On Low" uses free spinning metal shakers on various snare drums and micro percussion alongside a detuned 26" kick drum, while "The Thing From The Darkness" is a flat out free expression coupled with audio from an old 1930's radio show.

"At times I wanted to abandon any concept of bars or strict form to the pieces, which I felt would restrict me and inhibit my transference of ideas. If I added a beat, dropped one, or the form floated away from my original intent, I went with it rather than be beholden to anything other than the moment. I wanted to disregard any of the common notions of form, tempo, tuning, and theory in favor of feel, attitude, flavor, vibe and excitement. There was no fixing or editing on anything, so if there are mistakes, odd sounds, and any quirkiness that didn't take away from the flow and intent of the piece, I left it in and in turn feel it adds more human element to the production rather than an over polished product. All in all, 20 songs were recorded and 11 selected to represent where I was at that time. Because this was to be my first solo endeavor and one I longed to do since childhood, I felt like I had a lot to get out. Concurrently making this album has inspired me to work on building this facet of my career, as I have a slew of concepts and ideas I'd love to share."

Watch the video for "Which One ARE You?":

Dave said this about the video, "This is about an illustration of dualities in life. The two girls symbolize struggles that sometimes exist within people, good and bad, yin and yang, whatever. The music informs the manic-ness and chaos that can exist. I wanted to express chaos to the form of the song and do away with measures and structure at points, while returning to a rabid unrelenting ostinato that symbolizes the need to walk the line in life. The fight within people is often so much greater and out of control than we can comprehend. I learned this firsthand from a bi-polar suicidal father who took his own life when I was 10."

When Dave is not touring with Martin Barre, touring Europe or holding down the drum throne for Willy Porter, he can be found in the studio recording. He is an extremely busy session musician with over 50 albums to his credit. These albums cut across all genres of music. He has also done dozens of instructional CD's for the Hal Leonard Corporation (One of the world's largest music publishers). Dave also heads up the improvisational recording project, Blank Radio, and is the chief engineer and curator of hundreds of sessions with musicians from all over the greater Milwaukee area, culminating 23 full length album releases since 2008. These albums feature improvisations in all styles from ambient soundscapes to classical, jazz, and seething progressive rock.

Currently, Dave makes his home in Milwaukee and is a private lesson instructor at Cascio Interstate Music. He has done dozens of clinics and been billed with legendary drummers Ed Thigpen, Paul Wertico, Dom Famularo, Greg Bissonette, Ernie Adams, and Carmine Appice. He maintains a busy schedule of teaching, touring, clinics, and sessions, and is always striving to evolve in every facet of his music making. Dave proudly endorses Ludwig Drums and Paiste Cymbals and was named 2009 Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) drummer of the year. In support of the release of "Drums On Low," Dave is booking shows for August/September 2019

In closing, Dave has this message to impart to his listeners, "Joy and exploration. To make music with joy in the heart devoid of the constraints and trappings of the business and analytical side of the music industry."

EDDIE JOBSON

Classical prodigy and teen star — Award-winning film composer — "A musical genius" (Editor-in-chief of Emmy magazine) — Inductee in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame — World music and jazz record producer — Lecturer on The Art & Science of Music — Electronic music innovator — Electric-violin virtuoso — Award-winning pianist

With an international reputation as the definitive musicians' musician, British musician Eddie Jobson has been recognized as a musical genius since childhood. As a piano and violin prodigy, he was awarded a Diploma of Distinction by London's Royal Academy of Music at the age of 8, performing with his first professional orchestra at age 10. In 1971, at age 16, he was appointed as the Young Persons' Representative to the British Government's Arts Council and, the same year, performed his debut concert at the University of Newcastle—one of the first live concerts to feature the electronic music synthesizer. By age 17 he had acquired a worldwide record deal with Warner Bros. to record his first full album, playing violin, synthesizer and piano.

Transitioning away from classical music and still only 17, he became orchestrator for British singer Bryan Ferry, leading to Jobson becoming a full member of the influential art-rock group Roxy Music, contributing to their first number-one album as synthesist and groundbreaking electric-violinist. Eddie's proficiency in re-sculpting and professionalizing the Roxy sound played a major role in the band's success and their considerable influence on the likes of U2, The Talking Heads and many of the '80s new wave rock/pop groups. Jobson's early pioneering work as a teen, along with the other Roxy members, has resulted in his 2019 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, making Jobson the first rock violinist to be so honored.

Remaining in the rock and jazz world after Roxy, Eddie—still only 21—was "discovered" by American  music icon Frank Zappa and flown to Los Angeles to replace both jazz greats George Duke on keyboards and Jean-Luc Ponty on violin, in Zappa's only four-piece lineup. Returning to England in 1978 after several albums and world concert tours with Zappa, Jobson then formed the internationally acclaimed progressive-fusion band UK with jazz-guitar legend Allan Holdsworth, King Crimson vocalist John Wetton, and original Yes drummer Bill Bruford. The UK albums, along with his other  work with King Crimson, Yes, Jethro Tull and with members of Deep Purple and The Who, established Jobson not only as, arguably, the top rock violinist in the world, but also as one of the top keyboardists.

In the 1980s, Eddie put rock music and concert touring aside and focused on electronic music and the innovative world of computer music. He created the first music video to feature CGI, as well as the world's first album performed entirely on the Synclavier Music Computer. Featured in TIME magazine, this critically acclaimed album was one of the very first all-digital CD releases. The 1990s saw Jobson move into the world of television and film scoring—an award-winning side career that culminated in him becoming choral director for Disney on two major movies and the soundtrack composer on numerous films, TV shows and 3D theme-park experiences. Fascinated with all musical forms, he left the world of Hollywood in 2000 and formed a musicians' label called Globe Music as a vehicle for producing a diverse array of jazz and world-music artists. This period also saw Eddie working with the Tuvan throat singers, and composing for and conducting both the City of Prague Philharmonic and The Bulgarian Women's Choir, while also functioning as the choir's spokesperson at Harvard University and on multiple classical radio broadcasts.

An unexpected return to the concert stage in 2008, saw Jobson perform to a festival audience of more than 150,000 people in Kazan, Russia, leading to ten more years of world tours until his permanent retirement from live concerts in 2018. In 2017, Jobson received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Progressive Music Awards in London.

Five new double-CD releases are being planned to commemorate Jobson's almost fifty years as one of the world's most respected musicians. Eddie is also currently producing six video lectures on The Art and Science of Music.

Nad Sylvan – launches video for ‘Whoa (Always Been Without You)’

Nad Sylvan, vocalist with Steve Hackett, recently announced the release of his new solo album 'The Regal Bastard' on July 5th, 2019. His third album for InsideOutMusic, and his 5th overall, this record is the final part of the Vampirate trilogy that he began on 2015's 'Courting The Widow'.

Today he launches the third single from the album, and you can watch the video for 'Whoa (Always Been Without You)' here: https://youtu.be/hwm7sgkcnW4
Nad comments: "'Whoa' is one of those gifts that just came to me while I was on tour in Italy last summer. It kept pounding in my head, like someone's knocking on your door and won't stop, even if you open it.  To me, it's probably the strongest song on the album. Very relatable lyrics, we're all waiting for that big life changing moment in life, no matter the circumstances."

Watch the video for the last single 'Meet Your Maker' here: https://youtu.be/GrnpnWhKLPs
Listen to previous single 'I Am The Sea' here:

Find some of the brilliant media reactions below:
"a grandly elaborate theatrical production" – Prog
"a carefully crafted sonic experience with precision instrumentation and is a superb showcase for Nad's vocal, compositional and arranging talents." – The Prog Report
"Sylvan has nonetheless created an original, and vibrant example of modern progressive rock" – Metal Wani

Once more, Sylvan has pulled together a tremendous array of musical talent to bring his inspiration to life.
"Almost everyone who worked on 'The Bride Said No' is back with me again. Anders Wollbeck has again co-written two songs and plays an array of instruments as well as co producing them. Steve Hackett plays guitar on one track, Guthrie Govan on two, while Tony Levin does the bass on a song. Jonas Reingold plays bass on much of the album, and Nick D'Virgilio handles the drums. And I also have the same female singers working with me once more, these being Sheona Urquhart, Jade Ell and Tania Doko. And on 'Honey I'm Home', there's a big choir section, with every singer that has been involved with the 3 albums that make up the Vampirate trilogy, concluding the story in an honourable way. We also have Nick Beggs joining in on this part of the song."

'The Regal Bastard' will be released as a limited CD Digipak (incl. 2 bonus tracks), Gatefold 2LP + CD & as digital album.
Pre-order the album here: www.insideoutmusicshop.com

The full-track-listing can be found below:

1. I Am The Sea
2. Oahu
3. Whoa (Always Been Without You)
4. Meet Your Maker
5. The Regal Bastard
6. Leave Me On These Waters
7. Honey I'm Home
8. Diva Time (Bonus Track)
9. The Lake Isle of Innisfree (Bonus Track)

Nad comments: "For me, this is the best of the three records. I honestly believe it will delight the fans. It is maybe not as riff-heavy as the others. I would describe the sound as coming from the notion of pop going prog, with R'n'B elements in there as well. It is very soulful. But that suits my style. I am a vocal chameleon, and you'll hear that throughout. It is the finest possible way to bring the trilogy to an end."

Nad will spend most of 2019 touring once again with Steve Hackett, as he celebrates the 40 years anniversary of "Spectral Mornings", as well as the Genesis classic 'Selling England By The Pound'. Find the full list of dates here: http://www.hackettsongs.com/tour.html

Guitar Virtuoso Scott Henderson To Release Instrumental Album For Guitar Trio “People Mover”

2a393b5a-7874-4aa4-82f0-f6449ce6e63b.jpg

Los Angeles, CA – Guitar virtuoso Scott Henderson has finished his new album "People Mover," the most ambitious project of his career! The highly anticipated instrumental album for guitar trio will be released on July 1, 2019.

Says Scott, "The music has a lot of interplay due to a busy touring schedule with bassist Romain Labaye and drummer Archibald Ligonniere. I'd say this album is a bit more harmonic than 'Vibe Station,' and the rhythm section plays a bigger role in the music. The challenge was to come up with new tones and effects I haven't used before, since like 'Vibe Station,' the songs are layered with multi guitar tracks."

"People Mover" demonstrates Scott's striking ability to combine elements of jazz, rock, funk and blues in an even more authentic, seamless and musical way than any of his previous work. Proof that after 35 years as a bandleader, Scott is a musician who's playing and composing continues to grow.

From a recent interview, "My music isn't for purists, that's for sure, and I'm very thankful for my fans who are obviously open-minded and share my love for many different styles of music."

Scott Henderson's impressive work over the years as co-leader of the group TRIBAL TECH, leader of his own ground breaking trio, and sideman to some of the best jazz artists of their generation, including the great Joe Zawinul, has elevated him to the front ranks of both Jazz and Blues. Catch Scott on tour in 2019: July in Europe, September in South America, and October in Asia.

The Inside: Debut Album "The Inside"

Valery Records and V-Promotion are proud to announce the publication of Inside's "The Inside" album in the best stores, from June 14th, 2019.

The style of The Inside ranges from the Melodic Rock to the Hard Rock, including in some points Prog passages, with instrumental pieces in the name of the solo guitar and tracks sung in English.

The music of The Inside gives a lot of space to the melody; although the guitar and drum parts are often influenced by the Metal, the atmospheres are at times melancholy and evocative.

The name 'The Inside' stems from the idea that music is the most direct and natural way to express one's emotions and the profound essence manifested in vibrations and words, something intangible that instinctively transmits the moods interior of all of us.

"The Inside" produced by Guido Block, is published on June 14th, 2019 on Valery Records label, distributed by Audioglobe, and available worldwide on I-Tunes and on all the best online stores.
