Progressive Rock Icons Yes Return With First Studio Album In Ten Years

The Trevor Horn Produced Fly From Here Set For Release On July 12th Via Frontiers Records

Debut single "We Can Fly" to be released digitally on June 13th
May 31, 2011—The most influential and ground-breaking progressive rock 'n' roll band in history, legendary rockers and Grammy Award winners YES, will release their first studio album in a decade, Fly From Here, on July 12th through Frontiers Records. Their long awaited 20th studio album is the follow up to 2001's Magnification and marks the band's return with producer, Trevor Horn, who produced the band's chart topping album, 90125, in 1983 and also sang for YES on the Drama album in 1980. YES is Benoit David on vocals (his first studio recording with YES), Steve Howe on guitars/vocals, founder Chris Squire on bass/vocals, Geoff Downes on keyboards and Alan White on drums. Roger Dean, creator of a number of YES' most memorable album covers, also returns with his signature style for Fly From Here.

"At last we have some shape and dynamics within these tracks that are truer to the original idea of what a YES recording is about," proclaims Howe.

"The new album represents the best of YES from the 70s and the 80's with a current twist," Squire adds.

All of the songs on Fly From Here embody that classic and now iconic YES sound and style. The first single, "We Can Fly," (to be released digitally on June 13th) is borne from a piece of music that was written prior to the Fly writing sessions - an idea that has now grown into an overture and 5 subsequent movements that feature the unparalleled musicianship and virtuoso talents that are synonymous with YES. From the first chord of "Fly From Here – Overture" to the last note of the album's closer "Into The Storm," there is no question that the unmistakable technical proficiency of YES carries on.

"It's awesome working with Trevor Horn again, he pays a lot of attention to detail. It was a great pleasure in the studio to play some incredible music with some great players," says White.
First formed in 1968, YES' remarkable career spans over 40 years and the band has time and again redefined the boundaries of rock music. YES has sold nearly 50 million albums worldwide and continues to stretch the boundaries of progressive art-rock with their symphonic use of sound and innovative musical styles. This summer, YES will return to the road to bring Fly From Here as well as some of their classic hits to their loyal following.

SweetKiss Momma release of their full length debut album Revival Rock

An international internet radio sensation, and one of CD Baby's top selling bands since the release of their full length debut album Revival Rock, five
piece Roots Rock powerhouse SweetKiss Momma proves that explosive, high octane Southern-style rock-n-roll can come from anywhere—even the Pacific
Northwest.

While making the rounds of the club scene in Seattle/Tacoma, front man Jeff Hamel and his cohorts from Puyallup, are selling a surprising number of
records across Europe thanks to new distribution deals with Just For Kicks Music, Barchen Records, and Sonic Rendezvous, and are hoping to do the
same within North America. Revival Rock, hailed by GreatIndieMusic.com as "A Rootsy, Southern Soul-tinged, instant classic", is the follow-up to their
self-titled EP released in 2008. The album has reached #1 in sales on both the "Roots Rock" and "Southern Rock" charts via CD Baby.com, and at several
points, rose into the Top-10 on the overall sales chart (among the 250,000+ artists using CDBaby). The lyrically honest, musically raw, and wholly
organic 12-track musical juggernaut is cultivating a large and loyal following, easily endearing fans ranging from lovers of classic Southern rockers like
Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Allman Brothers, to those who enjoy the more modern, earthy sounds of bands such as The Black Crowes and Kings of Leon.
Songs from Revival Rock have been featured on terrestrial and internet radio stations ranging from alternative to country to classic rock. SweetKiss
Momma's "PopScore" via Jango.com has consistently been among the highest, and their music has been featured on the web incarnation of famed
Americana/Roots periodical No Depression.

As one fan posted on the band's CD Baby page: "This album feels like a great Saturday night out—good friends, a couple of shots of your favorite
Bourbon, a few too many ice cold beers, and the pending specter of questionable choices". Packing an authentic punch of rock, blues, and southern soul,
SweetKiss Momma—which also includes drummer Tyson Lickert, guitarists Aaron Arnold and Waid Hoyt, and bassist Randy Jackson—skillfully combine
the raucousness of that Saturday night with the sweet harmonies of a sunny Sunday morning—making their music feel both exhilaratingly fresh and
intimately familiar.

The effortless flow and crackling chemistry of the members of SweetKiss Momma comes from the bond that formed while these guys grew up playing in
their local church. They developed their impressive chops on the classic spirituals and gospel they played at the multiple weekly services, and from this
base, the four founding members (Hamel, Lickert, Arnold, Hoyt) began developing their blues rock vibe. After a decision to try their hand at some
original material, and months of woodshedding in Hamel's living room, they played their first local gig in 2008, and have since taken the stage at such
venerable Northwest venues as the Tractor Tavern, Jazzbones, The Showbox, El Corazon, and the Sunset Tavern, and traveled to Austin for a slew of
showcases during SXSW 2010. During this time, they have opened for such luminaries as Molly Hatchet, Jeff Cook (Alabama), The Supersuckers, and
Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame inductees The Ventures.

Recorded at Seattle's Orbit Audio (famed for it's collection of vintage recording gear), Revival Rock was crafted solely using analog equipment, including
a Trident 80-B Series mixing console once owned by Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan. In fact, Duff's framed platinum record for GNR's classic "Use
Your Illusion" hung prominently overhead as the guys recorded and mixed. The artwork for the album, designed by renowned poster artist Adam
Turman, provides the package the same vintage feel as the music it holds.

Driven by a relentless, yet at times cool and sensual mix of blues-rock with gospel undertones, Revival Rock also highlights the band's exceptional
songwriting, which is driven by the delicate balance of Arnold's powerful riffs and Hamel's raw, honest lyricism. Among the most popular tracks so far
are the gritty, hard edged jam "Son of the Mountain," a strident observation about living in the overwhelmingly powerful shadow of Mount Rainier; the
rowdy, high energy plea to a prospective lover "Mercy Love"; and the leisurely, horn-tinged ode to lazy afternoons "Slow Fade".

New Andragonia videoclip hits more than 35 thousand views in 15 days

New sensation of the Brazilian progressive metal scene, ANDRAGONIA lauched a new videoclip for the song "Silent Screams". This is the second track from the band's debut album Secrets In The Mirror  to gain a videoclip - the "Undead" video is still on the Brazilian MTV.

The shootings of "Silent Screams" ocurred in a industrial hangar in the city of Sao Paulo and counted with high technology resources. According to Messias Santos, one of the directors of the video, it was necessary two weekends for the filmings.
"Silent Screams was a challenging video on the direction.  We searched for the meeting between the energy that was flowing in the movie set and the agonising atmosphere that surrounds the protagonist and the music lyric", declared.

Since the premier on the last May 10th,  "Silent Screams" videoclip was seen more than 35 thousand times, an expressive number for a independent Brazilian heavy metal band.

Joanne Shaw Taylor turns up the heat on UK tour

Joanne Shaw Taylor, the award-winning British blues rock guitarist/vocalist, continues her UK tour with four more concerts taking in o2 Academy Sheffield
(Friday May 27), Manchester Academy (Saturday May 28), Bristol Tunnels (Sunday May 29), and London o2 Academy Islington (Tuesday May 31).

Following her special guest appearance at Black Country Communion's debut UK concerts in December 2010, Joanne's current tour sees her performing songs from her latest studio album 'Diamonds in the Dirt', and her debut album 'White Sugar'.

Originally championed by Eurythmics' Dave Stewart as a guitar prodigy at the age of 16, Joanne has fast become a rising star in British blues guitar music scene. Celebrated by Classic Rock magazine, Joanne won 'Best British Female Vocalist' at the British Blues Awards 2010, and also received a Best New Artist Debut nomination for 'White Sugar'.

The latest album, 'Diamonds in the Dirt', sees her reunited with Grammy Award-winning producer, Jim Gaines (Stevie Ray Vaughan, Santana), and like its predecessor, was recorded at Gaines' Bessie Blue Studios in Tennessee.

Celebrated by Classic Rock magazine, Joanne Shaw Taylor is fast becoming a rising star in the British Blues guitar music scene. Having won Best British Female Vocalist of the Year at the British Blues Awards 2010, Taylor also received a Best New Artist Debut nomination for her debut album White Sugar.

Taylor's latest album, Diamonds in the Dirt sees her reunited her with Grammy-winning producer Jim Gaines (Santana, Stevie Ray Vaughan) along with the same team responsible for the success of her White Sugar debut album.

Recorded at Gaines' Bessie Blue Studios in rural Tennessee, Diamonds in the Dirt begins with the unexpected sound of a lone acoustic guitar but soon shifts into overdrive, becoming a dizzying display of frenetic, full-throttle electric power. Taylor recently moved to Detroit, Michigan, and attributes the heavy sound of Diamonds in the Dirt to her new musical environment – a place immortalised in song as Detroit Rock City.

"There's a lot of incredible bands and musicians in Detroit," says Taylor. "It's given me new inspiration and been part of the reason for the slightly heavier sound on the Diamonds album."

Songs like Can't Keep Living Like This and Have Mercy showcase a remarkable range of dynamics. Taylor and her tight, two-piece rhythm section build gradually upon solid, riff-driven grooves. When the moment comes, the guitarist launches into one of her incendiary solos. On Have Mercy, Taylor, drummer Steve Potts and bassist Dave Smith explode together in a breathtaking climax.

The title track Diamonds in the Dirt is a song about the process of emotional recovery, and shows Taylor's softer, more melodic qualities of her singing and playing, as well as her willingness to reveal and heal. "Writing, for me, is very personal," says Taylor. "All the songs on this album are autobiographical. It's basically a chance to put thoughts and fears to paper."

As tempting as it was to try and repeat the success of White Sugar, so much has changed in Taylor's life since then that she never even considered it. Diamonds in the Dirt is a fitting step forward. "I wanted an album that showed my growth as a musician and person," concludes Taylor. "I think Diamonds in the Dirt is a good snapshot of where I am right now as an artist and a good memoir of the past two years."

Android Meme new album on Magna Carta

What if the threat of global domination by shadow governments was real and impacting us every day? What if, by employing space-age technology, these powers have programmed us to blindly obey?

Toronto-based quartet The Android Meme thinks it knows the answer to these burning questions and urges us to heed their warnings. With the release of their first full-length CD, Ordo Ab Chao, produced by Matthew von Wagner, The Android Meme might well be called rock and roll prophets, delivering a message the world needs to hear.

Tracks such as "The Machine Stops", "Sumii", "Ordo Ab Chao", "Left Right Parasite", "Whistleblower" and "Stranger" range in topics from secret societies to secret government experiments. While not a concept record in the truest sense, Ordo Ab Chao explores the mystical realm of the unseen and largely unknown – an esoteric dimension represented by the rich Masonic symbolism adorning the CD's cover artwork.

"You'll find several overarching concepts running through Ordo Ab Chao, helping to create a kind of cohesive narrative," says lead vocalist/lyricist/founder Stefano Amelio. "Our music is inherently visual. The symbols on the cover are important because they relate to how a listener will perceive this CD."

Hidden and double meanings abound on the record. For example, Ordo Ab Chao, which roughly translates to "order and chaos" (or order from chaos), is also an appropriate description of the band's music. By working in various musical styles, The Android Meme has created its own artistic identity. Ordo Ab Chao certainly offers something for everyone.

"We wanted a well-rounded record," says Amelio. "Despite some of the individual songs being completely different stylistically, they all represent 'our sound.' I like the fact that we're difficult to label. I think that's our strength."

Listeners will hear influences of Tool, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Tears for Fears, Depeche Mode, Motley Crue and Rush.

The Band:
Stefano Dementia: vocals, programming, big brother
Mathias Devereaux: guitars, vocals, synthesizers, illusions
Mark Davidson: big bad bass man, webmaster
Jake Hamilton: drums, sorcery

2) Sumii

Future of NEARfest Under Consideration

Since the unfortunate cancellation of NEARfest 2011 back in March, there has been much discussion regarding the future of the festival. Rest assured that none of this has been taken lightly. All the emails that we have received and all the posts on Progressive Ears, Facebook and the like have been read. We will continue to monitor and consider all feedback as we deliberate and decide what the future of NEARfest should be.

The outpouring of support that we have received has been amazing. We cannot express how much we appreciate it. It is very touching to know how much this festival means to so many people.

Over the next few months, we will talk amongst ourselves and a few trusted advisers. Once we have a plan, we will announce it here on the NEARfest website, our Yahoo mailing list, Progressive Ears, Facebook, and any other outlet deemed relevant.

Thank you again for all your heart-felt support. You will hear from us soon.

Most sincerely,

YES – New album Fly From Here coming soon in July 2011

The Yes tour resumed in the summer of 2009 and continued into 2010, with the same "In the Present" band. Now simply billed as "Yes," they played shows in Europe and North America. This tour featured Asia as an opening act, with Howe playing with both bands. Yes began further touring in June/July 2010 on a bill with Peter Frampton. On 9 July 2010, Rabin performed live with Yes onstage, for a one-time show at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, for the first time in nearly six years.

On 15 October 2009, Squire confirmed in a radio interview that Oliver Wakeman and Benoît David were official members of the band, stating "this is now Yes." It was also revealed that the new lineup had been working on new material and would enter the studio in autumn 2010. Allaying further speculation regarding the state of Yes personnel, Howe has gone on to state categorically that Jon Anderson will not be working with the band on the new studio album, asserting that "this is the lineup that actually … does the work. We're the perpetuation, the continuation, and the saga of Yes."

On 29 October 2010, Yes announced the signing of a worldwide recording deal with the Italian-based record label Frontiers Records. The band commenced recording a new album in Los Angeles (with producer Trevor Horn) in October and November, 2010, and was scheduled for more studio work in January 2011. It will be the first new Yes album in a decade, anticipated for release before summer 2011. On March 4, 2011 (his 63rd birthday), Chris Squire revealed that the album will be called "Fly from Here" and will be released in July 2011.

PROLIFIC BRITISH MUSICIAN JOHN WETTON TO RELEASE NEW SOLO ALBUM IN JULY VIA FRONTIERS RECORDS; “RAISED IN CAPTIVITY” FEATURES GUEST SPOTS BY IMPRESSIVE ARRAY OF MUSICAL PARTNERS

Frontiers Records is proud to announce the release of the sixth solo album by esteemed British singer/songwriter John Wetton; RAISED IN CAPTIVITY is due out on July 1st in Europe and the 12th in North America. The album was recorded in Los Angeles during a brief break between touring commitments and is produced and mixed by multi-instrumentalist Billy Sherwood (Yes, World Trade, Yoso). The new offering finds Wetton teaming up with current and former musical partners, including some of the biggest names from the British music scene over the past four decades: Genesis' Steve Hackett, King Crimson's Robert Fripp, Deep Purple's Steve Morse and many more. Please see below for a full track listing.

"Raised In Captivity" celebrates yet another milestone in an extraordinary life, a stunning collection of songs reinforcing a career of over 40 years during which John Wetton has created a legacy as one of the greatest singers, musicians and songwriters ever. Respected worldwide by fans and musical peers alike, Wetton's career included a significant period of time in the early eighties when he was the biggest selling singer in the world. Once again characterised by the emotional impact of the material, a necessary component in all Wetton's creativity, "Raised In Captivity" continues an unrivalled career which has brought inspiration to millions worldwide.

Of the new album and choice of producer, Wetton commented, "The decision to record in Los Angeles with Billy Sherwood was entirely mine. I wanted the chaotic urban inspiration, edge and energy to juxtapose the natural beauty that California provides. I also knew that Billy Sherwood would provide the musical and technical ability to record quickly, with ultra high energy and superb production quality." The material was written in a variety of ways, such as "Goodbye Elsinore" was written on the Denmark-Sweden sea ferry en route to a Vilde Frang concert and "The Devil and the Opera House" is co-written with King Crimson collaborator Richard Palmer-James. The album's finale is "Mighty Rivers", featuring the enigmatic Dutch soprano Anneke Van Giersbergen and the Seattle Symphony Orchestra.

John Wetton has been a member of several prominent British bands. After two albums with Family he joined King Crimson from 1972 to 1974, before working with Roxy Music and Uriah Heep. In 1977, with former Crimson band mate and drummer Bill Bruford, he co-founded U.K., which also featured guitarist Allan Holdsworth and keyboardist/violinist Eddie Jobson. After U.K.'s demise, Wetton turned his attentions to a solo career.

In 1982, Wetton became part of the supergroup Asia, together with Steve Howe, Carl Palmer and Geoff Downes. This "fab four" of progressive pop would rule radio and record sales, with their debut album becoming the biggest selling album of the year and yielding the worldwide hit "Heat of the Moment." Wetton remained prolific with more solo studio albums and several collaborative efforts over the years.

In 2002 at a John Wetton fan convention held in Allentown, PA, he started working with Geoff Downes again. This collaboration ultimately resulted a series of iCon studio and live albums and the in the highly-anticipated reunion of Asia's original lineup, bringing about two successful new studio albums: PHOENIX in 2008 and OMEGA in 2010.

John Wetton RAISED IN CAPTIVITY track listing:

(featuring Steve Morse)
2. Raised In Captivity
(featuring Robert Fripp)
3. Goodbye Elsinore (featuring Steve Hackett)

Enspier - The Hall of Mirrors

"Enspier" is a rock band on a mission, and that mission is  to inspire listeners to transcend the ordinary from Australia to the other side of the globe.

"Enspier's" debut release "The Hall of Mirrors" has taken listeners to that special place. A place, that cannot be defined by words but can be expressed through music.

In 2005 "Enspier" was formed and the band began writing for their album "The Hall of Mirrors", their journey began wanting to create a fresh new sound and this took them on a ride they would never forget.

These five perfectionists found themselves working every night to create a new style of artistic music, rock music that would not only prick up the ears of the public but turn many heads as well. They have an energy that makes for an incredible album you don't want to miss.

David Galluzzo's angelic, soulful yet solid lead vocals enchant the audience while playing his guitar. Jeremy shows his genius ability on Bass & backing vocals, DB with an aggression on the guitar that would make anyone bend to their knees, Joe Rahme with his "machine like hits" confuses the most intelligent mind with his mathematical inspiration, and last but definitely not least Costa Lambiris on percussion adds his own unique flavor to the mix. While each member of the band brings his own special talent and musicianship the "Enspier" boys are proud of the diversity in sounds that influence them as artists and as a band.

King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Kate Bush, Elton John, The Carpenters, Dream Theatre, Prince, U2 and Guns 'n' Roses all had major parts to play in the creation of "Enspier" even though they didn't know it.

"Enspier" headed to 301 Studio Sydney where they recorded 13 tracks under the production of Aria Award winner "Anton Hagop" (Producer/Engineer for Silverchair and Powderfinger). The mastering of the album was done at New York's famous Sterling Sound (AC/DC, Guns 'n' Roses and Pearl Jam) and as you will be able to tell, the result is a truly inspiring melodic rock album sure to appeal to lovers of all ages.

"Enspier's" 5 intense, talented musicians have poured their heart and souls into creating "The Hall of Mirrors". They have performed on MTV's "The Lair" at the Metro in Sydney and MTV like their music so much they decided to film a video for the track "Deliverance".

"Enspier" is looking into the future and are dedicated to bringing "The Hall of Mirrors" to audiences worldwide. Make sure you keep an eye on their website for any upcoming events.

Grey Lady Down reform - first gig in June

Seminal 90s prog band Grey Lady Down have reformed after a ten year hiatus. The band, whose members have gone on to grace such prominent prog outfits as IQ, Darwin's Radio, Thieves' Kitchen and Sphere3, will be playing a number of high profile shows throughout the UK during 2011. Ideas for a new album, which would be the band's 5th studio release, are being explored for release in due course.

The line-up is a 6 piece featuring both former guitarists Julian Hunt and Steve Anderson, along with the addition of new recruit Piers de Lavison on keyboards. The band is completed by ever-presents Martin Wilson on vocals and Sean Spear on bass along with original drummer Mark Robotham.

Further details are available on the band's new website at www.greyladydown.net, and you can Like us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/greyladydown

The first gig will be on Saturday June 4th at Mattfest, which takes place at famed prog venue The Peel at 160 Cambridge Road, Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, KT1 3HH. Doors are at 1pm, GLD will be on stage at around 6pm, and the line up is completed by From Great Height, Unto Us, Nerve Toy Trio, Alan Reed (ex Pallas) and Touchstone. Advance tickets are now available on 0208 546 3516 at £20. Full details can be found on Facebook at Mattfest.

They've had a lot of questions about availability of the GLD back catalogue. CDs remain in very short supply (with the exception of 'Star-Crossed' which is freely available) although they are considering the possibility of reissuing these in due course. However, the good news is that all of the studio albums have just been issued via CD Baby at www.cdbaby.com/artist/greyladydown for legal downloading for the first time ever!

Dream Weaver's 'Gary Wright' on tour with 'Ringo Starr's All Starr Band'

Gary Wright, known by millions for his internationally acclaimed singles Dream Weaver and Love Is Alive , will perform with Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band on an extensive 27-date European tour from June 4-17th. This will mark the third time Wright will tour with Ringo s All Starr Band (following tours in 2008 and 2010).

This year marks the 35th anniversary of Wright s multi-million selling album The Dream Weaver. When the album was originally released in 1976, and the single Dream Weaver became a huge success, Wright toured extensively with Yes, Fleetwood Mac and was special guest on Peter Frampton's Frampton Comes Alive! tour.

Now, with the release of his first album in 20 years, Connected, Wright showcases a breath-taking collection of songs that capture the joyous magical transcendence of his all-time classic hits. The single Satisfied includes performances from Ringo Starr (drums), Joe Walsh (lead guitar), and Jeff Skunk Baxter (rhythm guitar).

Former lead singer of the British progressive blues rock band Spooky Tooth (1967-1974), American born Wright embarked on a solo career in 1975. He was one of the first classic rock musicians to combine synthesizers with rock and funk. Gary s music has inspired generations of musicians including Jay-Z, Eminem, Mya, Salt-N-Pepa, Busta Rhymes, and Anastacia.

The UK leg of Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band s UK tour includes Hampton Court (June 17), Liverpool Empire (June 18), Birmingham Symphony Hall (June 20), Manchester Opera House (June 22), Glasgow Clyde Auditorium (June 23) and Bournemouth BIC (June 24). The All Starr Band features Rick Derringer (guitar), Richard Page (bass), Wally Palmar (guitar, harmonica), Edgar Winter (sax, keyboards), Gary Wright (keyboards) and Gregg Bissonette (drums).

Over a 40-year career, Gary Wright has performed in front of millions of people, had his music licensed to blockbuster movies and television shows, and continues to have his music played on radio on a daily basis.

Best known for his global smash hit singles Dream Weaver and Love Is Alive, Gary will perform as part of Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band on an extensive 27-date European tour from June 4th to July 17th. This is the third time Wright has toured with Ringo Starr's All Starr band (previously in 2008 and 2010).

This year, Wright’s multi-million selling Dream Weaver album celebrates its 35th anniversary.

When the album was originally released in 1976, and Dream Weaver became a massive success, Wright toured extensively with Yes, Fleetwood Mac and Peter Frampton (the latter on his Frampton Comes Alive! tour).

Now, with his first rock album released in over 20 years, Connected is a masterful reminder of Wright’s innate ability to forge a sublime musical connection with the inner human desire that engages one to move, groove, clap one’s hands and to sing along.

Finessed with a lifetime of song writing craft and production ingenuity by Wright himself, Connected showcases a breath-taking collection of songs that captures his self-realised world-unifying vision with the joyous magical transcendence of his all-time classic hits.

The mood heats up with the majestic first single Satisfied that includes performances from Ringo Starr on drums, Joe Walsh on lead guitar, and Jeff “Skunk” Baxter on rhythm guitar. The song packs a deliciously funky keyboard riff supported by life-affirming vocals.

Returning to the stage for the 2011 tour are the six All Starr band members who toured with Ringo in 2010:

Rick Derringer is a noted rock guitarist, vocalist and entertainer who was just 17 when his band The McCoys recorded the No.1 hit 'Hang On Sloopy' in 1965, knocking 'Yesterday' by The Beatles from the top spot. He later played with both Edgar Winter and Johnny Winter and had considerable success with his hit single ‘Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo’ and with his eponymous band Derringer. Throughout the 70’s and 80’s he appeared on albums with Alice Cooper, Richie Havens, Todd Rundgren, Cyndi Lauper, Barbra Streisand, Kiss and Steely Dan.  Derringer discovered Weird Al Yankovic, producing music for Grammy-winning albums and videos and the 2006 Grammy Awards brought Rick his third Grammy with his participation on the Les Paul 90th birthday tribute CD.

Gary Wright - over the course of his 40-year career which began in the UK with the rock band Spooky Tooth, Wright is hailed as a pioneer who utilized synthesizers in pop music.  His name is synonymous with his worldwide hits ‘Dream Weaver’ and ‘Love Is Alive’. Gary has inspired generations of artists including Jay-Z, Chaka Khan, Anastacia, Joan Osbourne, Judas Priest, Eminem, Mya, Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes, and DJ Armand Van Helden all of whom have either sampled or covered his songs. Gary’s world-unifying vision and musical prowess are evident on ‘Connected’ - his first pop-rock album for 20 years. Gary joined the All Starr Band in 2008.

Richard Page is best known as the singer/bassist for the multi-platinum, Grammy nominated group Mr. Mister. In the late 70's and early 80's Richard recorded three albums under the moniker of Pages with Steve George. The pair formed Mr Mister in the mid 80s. The band released three albums and had several world-wide hits, including ‘Broken Wings’ and ‘Kyrie’. They split in 1990 and a fourth Mr Mister album, ‘PULL’ remained unreleased for 20 years. Recently re-mastered, the album is now available on Richard's own label, Little Dume Records. Page has recorded two solo albums, ‘Shelter Me’ and ‘Peculiar Life’, as well as providing backing vocals for Elton John, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Barbara Streisand and Elvis Costello. As a songwriter Page has had his songs recorded by Madonna, Leona Lewis, Josh Groban, Celine Dion and Hall & Oates.

Wally Palmar, lead vocalist, harmonica, rhythm guitar player, and founding member of The Romantics, is amongst one of the most recognized voices of the 80’s. The group’s self-titled debut album yielded the hit ‘What I Like About You’, which carries on throughout the decades. Other singles include, ‘When I Look In Your Eyes’, ‘One in a Million’, and the international hit ‘Talking In Your Sleep’.  The Romantics are continuously being re-introduced to new generations today via the extensive airplay on contemporary, rock and satellite radio, commercials and movie soundtracks. Never content to simply rest on his red-leathered laurels, Palmar continues to write, record and tour with The Romantics.

Edgar Winter is an accomplished jazz, rock and blues keyboard player and saxophonist as well as a vocalist who found success in the early 70s and has continued to record throughout the 80s, 90s and 00s. Edgar has worked with guitarists Rick Derringer and Ronnie Montrose as well as his older brother Johnny Winter (a noted blues rock guitarist). In 1972 Edgar had a #1 hit with ‘Frankenstein’, taken from his acclaimed album ‘They Only Come Out At Night’. Edgar also enjoyed great success with the hit ‘Free Ride’ as well as ‘Dying To Live’ which Eminem produced for the hit movie ‘Tupac’.  Winter’s songs have appeared on soundtracks to over 20 films.

Gregg Bissonette is a drummer and vocalist who comes from a musical family, where his father was also a drummer, his mother a pianist, brother a bass player and sister a violinist. Gregg played on three albums by former Van Halen vocalist David Lee Roth, with the first ‘Eat ‘Em And Smile’ one of the most acclaimed rock albums of the mid 80s. Since then Gregg has recorded and toured with a number of artists, including Toto, ELO, Santana, Andrea Bocelli, The Maynard Ferguson Big Band, Spinal Tap and James Taylor. Having first worked and toured with Ringo Starr in 2003, Gregg’s been an All Starr member since 2008, making this his third All Starr tour.

Blackfield – American tour starting plus second part of Q&A video

On Wednesday 18th May Blackfield, the acclaimed collaboration between Steven Wilson and Aviv Geffen, embark on a tour of USA, Canada and Mexico in support of their new album Welcome To My DNA. Click here for full tour details.

These dates follow a successful series of dates around Europe, which was the band's first tour for over three years due to both artists' busy schedules. Steven has been enjoying massive success with Porcupine Tree and Aviv has released his first English language solo album (produced by Trevor Horn) and has supported U2 and Placebo.

The son of esteemed Israeli poet Yehonatan Geffen and the nephew of Moshe Dayan, Geffen is Israel's leading counter-culture rock musician. A huge star in his native country, his records have been greeted with critical adulation, earning him a string of gold albums. An outspoken peace campaigner, he controversially refused to do compulsory military service, and his lyrics have been fiercely critical of the Israeli military and their actions.

Aviv has worked with various artists throughout his career, including Brett Anderson (Suede), Mercury Rev and Belle and Sebastian, but it has been his partnership with Steven that has proved the most fertile, and both artists have been keen to return to their work with Blackfield and have been working on the album for the last few months. Aviv explains, 'we made the album together, it wasn't an email album. Steven came to Israel and I came to London. We both had a great year, Steven with Porcupine Tree and me with my solo stuff but now it's a Blackfield year and we are both ready for it.'

At a recent gig in London Aviv was filmed answering questions that fans had emailed to Kscope, the band's label. The second part of this video has now been added to the Welcome To My DNA mini-site.

The digi-book and vinyl editions of the album are also available to order on the Welcome To My DNA mini-site. The  mini-site features album info, downloads and more along with the chance to download a free MP3 of the album's opening track Glass House when signing up to the mailing list.

TOTO - OFFICIAL BIOGRAPHY

In 1976, drummer Jeff Porcaro and keyboardist David Paich, two seasoned Los Angeles-based session musicians, renowned for their work with Steely Dan and Boz Scaggs, decided to trim back their session work and form a band of their own. Jeff and David brought in guitarist Steve Lukather and Keyboardist Steve Porcaro.  David Hungate joined as bass guitarist and Bobby Kimball, a singer from Louisiana, was brought in on lead vocals.

After 30 years of playing music together, TOTO released their 12th and most recent studio album, Falling In Between, which, subsequently, receivedrave reviews.  The album was a true representation of years of musical and life experiences unmatched by most of their colleagues and contemporaries in the music world.  What set Toto apart, was their steadfast adherence to their unique musical vision.

TOTO approach each project with an equal dose of seriousness and humor. Falling In Between was a tongue in cheek, self-deprecating view of their fate as a band that appears to never quite fit into your typical mold, falling in between genres of music, in between the cracks of conglomerate label mergers and takeovers, restrictive radio formats and in between the notice of many music critics who misunderstand what and who Toto are.

Who TOTO are, depends entirely on who you ask. Most are aware of TOTO’s history dating back to 1978 with their eponymous debut album, which spawned the hit Hold The Line.  Thanks to their fourth album, aptly titled IV, Toto enjoyed enormous worldwide success with four hit singles including Rosanna and Africa. Whereas the former reached No.2 in the American singles chart, Africa hit the top spot. The album also won the Grammy Award for "Best Album of the Year" and Rosanna won the coveted "Best Record of the Year" award in 1982. Additionally, many songs continue to be sampled by other artists inspiring additional hits such as Jay-Z’s use of “Africa” and Roger Sanchez’ #1 UK hit “Another Chance” which sampled “ I Wont Hold You Back.

TOTO had several hits thereafter selling over 30 million records worldwide and performing in sold out arenas. Nonetheless, many stateside critics panned their success chalking it up to their good musical genes, vast body of session work, and criticized TOTO for several personnel changes over the years.

Although the spotlight in the US may have faded, what remained strong was a very loyal fan base throughout Europe and the rest of the world that has lasted for nearly three decades and crossed generations of new fans.

On August 5, 1992, only a short time before the start of the tour for the Kingdom of Desire album tragedy struck. Jeff Porcaro, while spraying a pesticide in his garden at home, suffered a severe allergic reaction to the chemicals and died from a heart attack. The band, Jeff’s family, friends, fans, and the worldwide music community mourned the passing of a man, who was not only one of the greatest drummers of his generation, but was, as Lukather has consistently said, "a true soul brother" and an incredibly giving and selfless individual.

When Jeff Porcaro unexpectedly passed away, TOTO were confronted with whether or not the band should go on. With the Kingdom of Desire Tour just around the corner and their resolve shaken, TOTO decided to go ahead with the tour because they felt that Jeff would have wanted them to. In selecting a drummer to replace Jeff, the band decided that they wanted someone who would put their own signature to the TOTO sound rather than try to copy Jeff. Steve Lukather suggested Simon Phillips, whom he had remembered from the Beck / Santana Tour. Phillips bravely accepted the task of filling in for Jeff on the Kingdom of Desire Tour.

Flash forward to 1999, TOTO set new standards in tour production with their Mindfields tour. Toto built a strong touring presence year after year in just about every corner of the world. The band demonstrated a sincere love and respect for multiple styles and genres of music that enabled them to deftly cross over and play just about anything.

This led to TOTO being twice invited as headliners of the extremely popular Night of The Proms concert series in Europe, which combines popular with classical music. Visited by more than 600,000 people in 2003, the experience of the shows inspired TOTO to stretch out even further and play a series of shows with various symphonic orchestras. This is what makes them different and fascinating, and why TOTO has outlasted many of their fellow artists.

Despite many set-backs and obstacles TOTO persevered, and welcomed many other musicians to participate, collaborate, and fill in when it was needed or wanted over the years.

In the year 2000, the nucleus of TOTO reunified with the return of original lead singer, Bobby Kimball back into the fold with Steve Lukather (guitar, vocals), David Paich (keyboards, vocals), bassist Mike Porcaro (bass) and Simon Phillips (drums). Never shying away from a great addition to the team in favor of ego, Toto welcomed former Michael Jackson keyboardist and vocalist, Greg Phillinganes, into the fold.

Six years later, when TOTO released their last studio album, Falling In Between in 2006, Steve Lukather said, “From its inception, the album has been a labor of love and a team effort. Falling In Between is fresh, heavier, at times more progressive.  It features some great songs and melodies that embody the classic Toto imprint.”

Fans found more than a few surprises on the record such as former member Steve Porcaro, former singer Joseph Williams’ cameo on a duet with Steve Lukather and special guests including Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull), the Chicago horn section, Jason Scheff, L. Shenkar (Peter Gabriel), legendary percussionist Lenny Castro, saxophonist Tom Scott, and Roy Hargrove.

TOTO brought their personal best into this project and invited many friends to participate. The result was a record that was a team effort and a joy to make. “If this is the last record we make (and I hope it won’t be),” remarked Lukather, “at least we can walk away knowing we threw down the best we had.”

To commemorate the tour, TOTO released the double live album Falling In Between Live, which represented their fourth live album, following 1993's Absolutely Live, 1999's Livefields and 2003's Live In Amsterdam.  A companion DVD of the concert, filmed in Paris in March 2007, was eventually released in 2008.

Later that same year, on June 5th, after 32 years playing together, Toto officially disbanded.  At that time, with Lukather being the only original member left (Bobby Kimball was also an original member, but was out of the band from 1984–1998 and with David Paich retiring from touring back in 2005), Lukather felt it was time to call it quits.

TOTO sold over 30 million records, and toured the world ten times. The band and its individual members have recorded with and wrote for artists including Michael Jackson, Steely Dan, Santana, Stevie Wonder, Miles Davis, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Quincy Jones, Paul McCartney, Joe Satriani, Lionel Richie, Don Henley, Alice Cooper and many more.

In October 2009, the individual founding musicians of TOTO were inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame. Steve Lukather, David Paich, Steve Porcaro and David Hungate were present, with Mike Porcaro's and Jeff Porcaro's family members accepting their awards in absentia.

On February 26, 2010, TOTO reunited for a brief tour of Europe in the summer to benefit Mike Porcaro, who has ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).  The lineup featured David Paich, Steve Lukather, Steve Porcaro, Simon Phillips, Joseph Williams and special guest Nathan East.

“With Mike not being well,” said Lukather, “and some of us missing each other, the real high school friends decided to get back together for the right reason.”  Continues Lukather, “People wanted to hear the hits played the way they were recorded.  We thought it would be fun to perform a few gigs once in a while, and the fans would love it as well.”

Lukather also said that they went on with Joseph Williams because they wanted to try something different and that he didn't have any bad feelings towards Bobby Kimball. TOTO will continue with the current line-up.

On Tuesday June 21st, Toto start their European tour at Forest National in Brussels, Belgium.

On Sunday July 17th, TOTO’s concert at Castello Scaligero Di Villafranca in Verona, Italy, will be filmed for an upcoming DVD and bonus CD, be released in October 2011.
