Postcard, the new single from Steven Wilson is now available to download from iTunes, Amazon and all other major download stores.
The digital only single features the album version of the track, a special stripped back (voice and piano only) version of the track recorded by Wilson especially for the single along with two remixes. The first of these is a mix of Postcard by Kscope label mates North Atlantic Oscillation and the second is a remix of Index by Necro Deathmort, who Steven has described as "not a death metal band, despite their name, but one of my current fave experimental electronic artistsnot a death metal band, despite their name, but one of my current fave experimental electronic artistsone of my current favourite experimental electronic artists".
Postcard is taken from Grace For Drowning, Wilson's new solo album which was released on Kscope last month. Grace For Drowning is the second album released under Wilson's own name, and builds on the artistic inroads he forged with 2009's exceptionally well-received Insurgentes. A double album ('two 40-45 minute albums in the same package') Wilson has described it as "my biggest project to date".
Grace For Drowning, looks set to be equally well-received. The album entered the UK top 40 album chart at #34, both the Dutch and German national charts at #22, the US Billboard Rock album chart at #19 (#13 in independent chart) and debuted at #7 in the Polish national charts.
The album has been critically acclaimed too. It has been described by Mojo as 'an immersive, ambitious project that demands repeated spins' (****) and by Terrorizer as 'a dense yet extremely coherent album, Grace For Drowning succeeds brilliantly... Prog album of the year, no less.' (5/5). Classic Rock have proclaimed, 'Grace For Drowning is an album that can't really be described but it urgently calls to be heard' while Record Collector stated: 'there is an overwhelming sense of awe, a majestic soundscape created by an innovative, forward-looking musician immersed in the history of music... its epic vision will always reward revisits' and Classic Rock Prog argue, 'this is a magnificent step up; he simply can't stopped.'
Grace For Drowning, is available on CD, vinyl and download along with a Blu-ray edition of the album. The Blu-ray disc contains the album in 5.1 surround sound with accompanying video content, created by long-term collaborator Lasse Hoile, as well as photo galleries, hand written notes and lyrics. A trailer for the Blu-ray is now online. For the most avid collectors there are also a limited number of the deluxe edition of the album still available from the Kscope webstore. The deluxe edition features 3 CDs, the Blu-ray disc and a 120-page book. In addition to the album on 2CDs, the third CD features out-takes and demo material. All 4 discs are packaged in a hard back book which features 120 pages of artwork and notes.
