Steve Vai Goes Live with GuitarTV.com

Grammy Winning Artist Steve Vai Goes Live with GuitarTV.com
Channel pairs non-stop guitar programming with in-player discovery, sales

HOLLYWOOD, CA -- May 10, 2011 -- Today from Musicians Institute, Grammy Award-winning music artist Steve Vai and technology entrepreneur Andy Alt launch GuitarTV.com, a 24-hour interactive guitar channel dedicated to streaming videos of legendary guitar performances from the most accomplished guitarists in history, artist interviews, lessons, live broadcasts, and more.

**Visit www.GuitarTV.com starting at noon PT to participate in the live-streamed launch event with surprise announcements from Mr. Vai**

"Most people are fascinated to see someone play an instrument in an inspired way. We are moved by witnessing musical brilliance, and it was this notion that led me to purchase the GuitarTV domain 10 years ago," says GuitarTV.com Founder, Steve Vai. "Still to this day, I am deeply satisfied when watching a guitar player who is connected with their art and instrument. GuitarTV helps you tap into that connection, and to each other."

GuitarTV.com features a patented advertising platform called InEVO that lets consumers interact with the media player without interrupting the current video experience. Six virtual guitar strings on the left of the player make it possible to:

  • See more info on the artist via Wikipedia
  • Download the album through Amazon or iTunes
  • View the song's tablature on Songster.com
  • Learn about the artist's signature guitar and amplifier, and purchase them through partner MusiciansFriend.com
  • Purchase concert tickets through Ticketmaster
According to new data from The Nielsen Company, online video usage in the US has increased significantly over last year, with viewers streaming 28 percent more video and spending 45 percent more time watching. In addition, social television is transforming viewer engagement, offering new opportunities for brand advertisers to interact with consumers.

"GuitarTV encourages fans to interact with their favorite artist's videos by allowing them to discover new facts, learn how to play the music, and immerse themselves in a guitarist's body of work," says GuitarTV Co-Creator Andy Alt. "Online video is no longer about passive watching, it's an interactive experience. You find yourself wanting to click the elements of the media player to see what you'll uncover next."

GuitarTV.com is fully integrated with Facebook Connect and Twitter so fans can chat about the video they're watching, share it on their walls, and publish Tweets linking to the video. Additional social features such as rating and commenting on videos are planned for future versions of the player.

Guitar enthusiasts can also submit their own videos to GuitarTV.com for consideration alongside their favorite legends.

GuitarTV offers three broadcast modes: instant play-upon-arrival, on-demand (choose a new video from a scroll bar below the player), and live broadcasts via partner Livestream.com. Upcoming live events include an exclusive walk-through of Steve Vai's new recording studio, Harmony Hut, and a remote broadcast from Paul Reed Smith of PRS Guitars.

About: GuitarTV.com Grammy Award-winning music artist Steve Vai purchased the domain GuitarTV.com 10 years ago with a vision to one day create a non-stop streaming video channel offering performances from the best guitar players of all eras, in all genres. In partnership with Co-Creator Andy Alt, GuitarTV.com now offers all this and more, featuring maximum viewer engagement through its patented advertising plaform, InEVO. GuitarTV.com is located in Los Angeles, California and across the Web. To learn more, please visit www.GuitarTV.com.

TONY MACALPINE TO RELEASE NEW SELF-TITLED SOLO ALBUM ON JUNE 21, 2011

Los Angeles, CA: Legendary guitar and piano/keyboard virtuoso, Tony MacAlpine's new selftitled album, to be released June 21 on Favored Nations, marks a highly-anticipated return to solo work after a prolific decade of output with his bands, including prog-metal-fusion trio Planet X; GRAMMY-nominated jazz fusion outfit CAB; power metallers Ring Of Fire; as well as performing keyboard and guitar duties in Steve Vai's double platinum DVD-selling live band The Breed from 2001-2006.

When I set out to write a new album, I quickly realized that my urge to once again create and define myself as a solo artist had returned with a vengeance, said MacAlpine. This is my strongest album to date. I can't wait to hit the road and play it live.

Recorded in his home studio in Pasadena, CA, Tony MacAlpine is the musician's 11th solo album. Featuring 12 tracks of guitar-laden progressive instrumental metal - MacAlpine performing 7 and 8-string guitar, keyboards, bass and programming, along with drum legends Virgil Donati (Planet X, Virgil Donati Band) on tracks 1, 5, & 10; and Marco Minnemann (Adrian Belew, Necrophagist) on tracks 3, 4, 8 & 12. Bassist Philip Bynoe (Steve Vai, Ring Of Fire) also appears on track 2. The album was mixed by Ulrich Wild (Deftones, Static X, Dethklok) and mastered by former Chief Mastering Engineer of A&M Studios, Dave Collins.

One of the guitarists at the forefront of the virtuoso guitar movement of the mid-80s, 2011 marks Tony's 25th anniversary of groundbreaking guitar work (his seminal 1986 debut album Edge Of Insanity was recently ranked #4 in Guitar World magazine's Top 10 Shred Albums Of All Time), in a career spanning 11 solo albums, 13 band albums, and countless guest appearances, in genres diverse as metal, progressive fusion, neoclassical, jazz and classical piano.

The album's opening tracks Serpens Cauda and Ölüdeniz are available now for FREE download in high quality MP3 at Tony's website: www.tonymacalpine.com

Tony plans to tour the album in the USA, Europe and South America later this year and 2012.

Tracklist:

1. Serpens Cauda (4:23)
2. Ölüdeniz (5:16)
3. Fire Mountain (4:23)
4. Dream Mechanism (4:18)
5. Ten Seconds to Mercury (4:35)
6. Flowers For Monday (3:05)

Pendragon the European leg of the tour is coming to an end

The European leg of the tour is coming to an end, it's been a long trip but we've had some incredible shows, travelled thousands of miles, and best of all we've seen more of you than ever before! Thanks so much for all your support along the way and your kind words!

Now that Passion has been unleashed into the world the reviews are beginning to pop up everywhere, special mention to Live Prog based in The Netherlands . A very entertaining and interesting way to review albums! Also worth checking out is Prog-Archives where reviews run from Love to Loathe..... if you feel Passionate sign up and add your review to the site!

We're being sent some stunning photographs from the tour, if you've got some pics please consider adding them to the Pendragon Flickr group, with it all being so intensely busy we've not always got the time to properly look at your pics at the mo, if you pop them up here it's easier for us to get a peek at them when we do have the time.

The Passion Limited Edition CD + DVD is available from our store along with other Passion goodies and we'll be adding more items soon so keep your eyes peeled!

We're going to have a short break, then a gallop around the UK

We hope to see as many of you as possible, it'll probably be our last shows for a little while, so get some Passion while you can!

New Osiris the Rebirth Album, featuring Cyndee Lee Rule

Osiris The Rebirth is the brainchild of veteran space-rocker Dave Adams.

The original Osiris was a spacerock band of Dave's from 1987-88. Twenty years later, while playing bass with Hawkwind tribute band Assassins of Silence, Dave had the idea of forming a band to resurrect some of the old Osiris87 songs and push the idea forward. He initially joined forces with a fellow Assassins founder-member Milo Black, and the duo began reworking some of the more promising old Osiris songs. New songs also quickly began to take shape, and the music began to evolve, taking a more progressive rock direction while retaining the spacerock elements.

Dave was keen to keep the Osiris name.... as were all the other bands in the world called Osiris..... the name Osiris The Rebirth seemed to say everything it needed to. The duo were all-but self-sufficient as a recording unit, and the band settled as a collective, with Dave and Milo as core members and guest contributions from other artists, to add colour, variety and better singing.

The first Osiris album Remnants of Life was released in November 2009, with guest contributions from Nik Turner, Bridget Wishart, Cyndee Lee Rule and many others.

".....one of my most played albums of the year."Jeff Fitzgerald, Aural Innovations

A second album, titled Lost, will appear in 2011, featuring Bridget, Cyndee and Jude Merryweather of Underground Zero. Preview tracks now on this page:

Metal Mind Productions to release NewBreed's third studio album

Metal Mind Productions proudly presents the third studio album by NewBreed, a progressive metal band from Poland. Their self-titled material features guest appearances by Tomasz Lipa Lipnicki (Lipali, ex-Illusion) on the vocals and Wacek Vogg Kiełtyka (Decapitated) on the guitar.

The band was formed in November 1999 by a group of very young people: Thomas Wolonciej (git/voc), Stanley Wolonciej (drums) and Paul Gawlowski (bass). In 2000, after several local gigs, the band recorded their first demo entitled “Solitary”. In 2001, Paul left the band. New friends - Andy Czul and his brother Thomas - helped the band and joined them to play upcoming gigs and record new material. "The New Way of Human Existence" was released by a small label (Apocalypse Production) on a split-tape in 2002. Having met with good reviews, the band joined Brutal Surgeins Tour 2002 and played many other gigs. In 2003, NeWBReeD delivered their next album "Lost", which was promoted at many live shows. After that, the band got great reviews in the underground press. “Lost” was released by a small label Metalrulez. In April 2004, another line-up change occurred - Thomas Czul was replaced by Peter Bialkowski. In January 2005, NeWBReeD came up with their new release "If I Were the Rain". In 2006, the band joined Awakening On The Path Of Rain Tour 2006. Soon after that, Peter Bialkowski left the band. Young guitar player Szymon Fiuk became a new member of NeWBReeD. In January 2007, a new album “Child of the Sun” was ready to be released. NeWBReeD signed a deal with Polish prog-metal label Insanity Records. "Child of the Sun" was out in April that year. After that, NeWBReeD played many shows around Poland. The band also got a chance to record their final gig of the promotional tour. In December 2008, after the band recorded their live DVD "Live in Rudeboy", Jarosław Gacek became their new bass player. The DVD was released in May 2009. Writing and recording of their next album took over a year... Finally,  NeWBReeD bring a new album entitled simply "NeWBReeD". Tomasz Lipa Lipnicki (Lipali, ex-Illusion) joined the band in one of the songs (vocals) and Wacek Vogg Kiełtyka (Decapitated) played one of the solos. This album takes NewBreed to a completely different artistic level. In 2011, the band signed a deal with Metal Mind Productions. The release date is set up for 20th June in Europe and 9th August in USA (via MVD).

Tracklist:

1. How It Was To Be
2. The Forever Spring

Kappa Crucis writing new material

The experienced Brazilian band KAPPA CRUCIS is already writting new songs for the its second album. The new record will be sucessor of the praised Jewel Box released in 2009.

Formed back in early nineties in the city of Apiai, among the southern mountais of Sao Paulo state, KAPPA CRUCIS combines elements from hard rock, progressive rock, southern rock and have turned a "cult" name in the Brazilian underground scene.

Before its debut album, KAPPA CRUCIS got famous for its excellent demos. Works such as Algol - The Demon Star (1997), Ignition (2002) and Steel Egg (2004) conquered the journalists. The main music critics in Brazil has always been full of praise to KAPPA CRUCIS. "One of the best bands I've heard in recent months," said Eduardo de Souza Bonadia in review about the demo Steel Egg for Strike Virtual Magazine. "The quartet conveys an authenticity and, above all, an enviable rapport," published Antonio Carlos Monteiro in February 2000 for Rock Brigade Magazine.

KAPPA CRUCIS first official album came to be completed in a time when the band was already well known to the press and public, had several years of road, five demo works and several concerts and festival appearances.

Released in August 2009, Jewel Box gathered compositions of the band's entire career plus unreleased songs. The album was mastered at Novalis Studios in Fort Myers, Florida, United States.

Now with a signed contract with the Brazilian Management & Press company, Som do Darma, Kappa Crucis is doing a second promotional campaign for the already established Jewel Box, while is also working in the compositions for its second album to be released in early 2012.

Hellish War: new album title unveiled

Keep It Hellish was confirmed as the title of HELLISH WAR's new album. This will be the third studio recording of the band, the fourth of its career, sucessor of the live effort Live in Germany (Hellion Records).

"Keep It Hellish is a comprehensive title," says vocalist Roger Hammer. "At the same time it refers to the universe of Hellish War in order to enhance our own musical identity, the title also suggests loyalty to true old school heavy metal. Identity and Loyalty, these are the keynotes of our forthcoming album and could not be more appropriate title."

In the pre-production, Keep It Hellish will be released in Brazil and Europe in the second half. The European release (Pure Steel Records) will be two Cds set including the live album Live In Germany.

Among other news, HELLISH WAR and the former Angra vocalist, Andre Matos will play together at 'Centrão' in the city of Itapira/SP, next May 14th.

Farpoint to release "KINDRED" their new album on 10T Records

10T Records is excited to announce the signing of South Carolina's Farpoint to its roster of artists. The band will release their upcoming new full-length CD release, "Kindred," on May 23, 2011 with a retail street date of July 5.

"Kindred" features Dave Auerbach on guitars, Dean Hallal on vocals, Kevin Jarvis on guitars, keyboards, and vocals, Jennifer Meeks on vocals, and flute, Frank Tyson on bass guitar, and vocals, and Rick Walker on drums, and percussion.

Through four studio albums and over ten years of live performance at clubs, festivals, fundraisers, and private events, Farpoint have continued to walk their own path, creating a unique blend of genres and styles. While existing fans will instantly hear the qualities that they have always associated with Farpoint, "Kindred" sees the band stretching into new territory and broadening their blend of uplifting and positive symphonic prog, folk and hard rock. Produced and Mixed by Jeff Hodges (Fromuz, Man On Fire, Govt. Mule) at Charleston Sound (www.charlestonsound.com), "Kindred" has a more dynamic, full and present sound than prior releases with tight drum grooves and fills, intriguing bass lines, layered harmonies and intricate melodies while retaining a very accessible feel.

"We are thrilled to become a part of the 10T family, and honored to be listed among 10T's incredible roster of artists," says Kevin Jarvis. "As a completely independent band for over 12 years, it's nice to find a record label that believes in our music enough to make an investment in it, especially when the label obviously maintains such a strong emphasis on the artistic integrity of the music they release."

"We have been following Farpoint's musical career for a number of years," says 10T Records president, Steve Carroll. "When the band approached my partner, Jeff, about recording and producing their next CD at his studio, it seemed like the logical time to combine our energies to create something special. Having Farpoint on board feels kind of like a family reunion."

All tracks from "Kindred" are now available to preview on the Farpoint artist page at the following link:

http://10trecords.com/artists/genres/progressive-experimental/farpoint/discography/

After July 5th, "Kindred" will be available through your favorite retail outlet.

Farpoint was formed in Sumter, South Carolina, USA in early 1997 with the musical meeting of guitarist/keyboardist Kevin Jarvis and drummer Rick Walker. Through 5 studio albums and more than 12 years of live performances at festivals, clubs, and fundraisers, Farpoint have continued to walk their own musical path and to evolve and grow. Currently Jarvis and Walker are joined by bass guitarist Frank Tyson, vocalist Dean Hallal, flautist/singer Jennifer Meeks, and guitarist Dave Auerbach.

Farpoint's vision is to create melodic and powerful positive music that is accessible without compromising its artistic integrity. The band's music can be described as folky art rock with a progressive edge. Diversity is the key to the Farpoint sound, with influences ranging from progressive, folk, and hard rock to Celtic, classical, new age and bluegrass. Instrumentation includes the standard rock instruments augmented by classical guitar, mandolin, flute, various types of percussion and layered vocal harmonies.

Isle of Wight, New Name and Base Jumping

Firstly:
We've changed our name to Halo Blind - there are just too many Parades out there and it was getting confusing. There's a few reasons why we chose halo (blind) but we're not telling.

Secondly:
We've been booked to play at the Isle of Wight Festival!!
Yes! The big one! With Foo Fighters and Kings of Leon and everything! We're extremely lucky to have been asked to play and we're going to make the most of it. We have 30 minutes to blast out a killer set and hopefully win over some new fans.

I think its sold out - sorry for the late notice - but if you're going or can get tickets, please please come see us play. Nobody else will know who we are so we need people to lead the cheering! Together we're stronger...

We'll be on The Garden Stage, as Halo Blind remember, not Parade (that's somebody else now) on Friday 10th June at 17.30.
If you're there grab us and say Hi!

Thirdly:
Paddy's busy being a new dad and can't play with us right now so we have been joined by the legendary Stuart Fletcher on bass. He was in The Seahorses with John Squires and Chris Helme, and he was in The Yards with our own Chris Farrel. He's also toured in the Happy Mondays and St Etienne. He's an awesome player - punchy. Powerful. ON IT. I can't wait to hear him and Gav pounding the Isle of Wight back into the sea!

Fourthly: (maybe this should have come first)
We won the BEST NEW BAND award at the Classic Rock Society Awards Show! Obviously we're delighted with this achievement and can only stand in humble thanks to everyone who bought The Fabric and came to our gigs. Thanks folks.

At the same time Gav won Best Drummer for being so brilliant!
And Anne-Marie won the CRS Personality Award! Well done for being so great!

Lastly: (this should have come earlier as well)
We've a new website for the new name. Its www.haloblind.com But any old links you still have will get you there as well. Check it out when you can.

Biography
Twinspirits is a band project born in 2004 from the experience of Daniele Liverani. While working on the last chapter of Genius Rock Opera, Daniele felt the urge of going back to a real band combo, sharing his songwriting skills with some of the most talented and promising young musicians he stumbled across in the last decade.Genius Rock Opera drummer Dario Ciccioni was his first choice to cover the drummer role, and they were both quite shocked when they first saw Tommy Ermolli playing guitar, being a 13 years old prodigy with brilliant technique and an uncommon sense of melody. The three of them were joined soon by bass player Alberto Rigoni, who was previously hired for a cover band project showing great attitude and a natural approach to progressive music. With this 4-members combo ready to take off, Daniele was still looking for a fitting singer. Danish powerful voice of Søren Adamsen was the first choice among several well-known/unknown auditioners from all over the world. With this team now complete, the release of a full-lenght album was a matter of 6 months. "The Music That Will Heal The World" was released by Lion Music and worldwide distributed in June 2007, followed by a promotional Italian tour in the beginning of 2008. Sadly, Søren wasn't available for the tour and later on he had to quit the band for personal reasons. In September 2008, after another stressful auditioning process, the band recruited swedish Göran Nyström for his extreme versatility on both melodic and heavy musical directions. In Septembre 2009 Twinspirits released the concept album "The Forbidden City", and toured in support for the release in some of the major clubs in Italy. On February 2011 Twinspirits strikes back again with the release of their third album "LEGACY" including the 30 min suite "The Endless Sleep" a sort of mini album in the album itself...
