Rush's Legendary 'Presto' Album To Be Released On Limited Numbered Edition Hybrid SACD

Camarillo, CA - Rush fans rejoice! Marshall Blonstein's Audio Fidelity will be reissuing Rush's legendary 'Presto' album on limited numbered edition Hybrid SACD! Rush were never a band known to play the same sort of thing for any extended period, they often pushed the boundaries of rock and their formidable list of albums helped to bring prog to a wider audience. By 1989 a change was inevitable and with their 13th studio album, 'Presto', it was a change for the good. 'Presto' marked the beginning of a transition period, moving away from a sound dominated by synthesizers and toward more traditional rock instrumentation. The synths were toned back while the guitars were brought up to a reasonable level allowing the emphasis to return to the rhythm instruments, resurrecting the groove that Rush maintains so very well.

Geddy Lee and Neal Peart are in good form, but Alex Lifeson is the real story, he can be heard in grand force and even pulls out the acoustic guitar. Lifeson's leads in "Superconductor" are brilliant, Geddy Lee does great solo work on "Show Don't Tell" and Peart's percussion on "Scars" features a complex tribal rhythm drum pattern in which both acoustic and electronic drums are utilized - a synthesis of the two that's accessible without compromising. Each of these tracks, along with "The Pass," reached the top of the Album Rock Tracks charts with "Show Don't Tell" hitting #1. 'Presto' climbed to #16 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart.

 

Rush made a stab at greatness with 'Presto' and Rupert Hine's deft production had much to do with its success.

ALLAN HOLDSWORTH is BACK!

 

Since the end of the last European tour in November of 2012, Allan Holdsworth has performed only 3 shows with his own band, made one guest appearance with local Los Angeles musicians, and made one special appearance at the Crossroads Festival in New York City as guest of Kurt Rosenwinkel's band. Now, the guitar master is back, accompanied by JIMMY HASLIP on bass and VIRGIL DONATI on drums (from August 13 until September 4), and GARY HUSBAND on drums JIMMY HASLIP on bass (from September 17 until October 5).

 

Please note, there will be no European gigs whatsoever this year, and few shirt European tours are planned for 2015.

 

There are few minor changes regarding dates in Chicago, IL and Teaneck, NJ. AH website will be updated soon, this is THE most correct info.

Joe Bonamassa announces new studio album "Different Shades Of Blue"

Grammy-nominated blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa has today announced
that his brand new solo album "Different Shades Of Blue" will be
released on Monday September 22nd (Mascot / Provogue).

Different Shades Of Blues is Bonamassa's first solo studio album since
2012's Driving Towards The Daylight, which debuted at #2 on the
Official UK Album Chart. It is also his first album to feature
all-original material, penned by the man himself.

The resulting album is Bonamassa's most accomplished work to date,
It's a blues record that explores the outer reaches and the many
different sounds that shape the genre.

"It's been a while since I've been involved in the writing on an
entire album, " says Bonamassa. "So I decided I wanted to make a
completely original blues album. I've really had to push myself to
make everything I do better than the last project. I know the fans

Uganga reveals cover of new album

Manu "Joker" (vocal, ex-Sarcofago), Christian Franco (guitar), Thiago
Soraggi (guitar), Raphael "Ras" Franco (bass) and Marco Henriques
(drums). Collectively they are known as Uganga. In Brazil, everybody
who is really into metal and hardcore knows them, and if you are in
Europe you also have a chance to have heard about the band. After all,
these five brazilian musicians are for 20 years on the road, have
released four albums and completed two tours in Europe, besides
countless shows in Brazil.

When it was thought that the band would slow down, behold they do
announce the new studio album!

Titled "Opressor", the album was produced by the experienced Gustavo
Vazquez (Black Drawning Chalks, Macaco Bong, Krow, Hellbenders) and
will bring the following tracks "Guerra", "O Campo", "Veredas",
"Opressor", "Moleque de Pedra", "Casa", "L.F.T.", "Modus Vivendi",
"Nas Entranhas do Sol", "Aos Pés da Grande Árvore", "Noite", "Who Are

I think both lyrics and cover art express it clearly."

"Opressor" will be released in Brazil in July by the record label

Kruk reveal another track from their new album "Before"

"Before", a brand new studio album by the best Polish hard rock band – Kruk has been officially released today. The band's fourth full-length release should be interesting for fans of such big artists as Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and DIO. The album includes a bonus DVD featuring additional material: live show from Spodek Hall, Katowice from February 2014 when Kruk supported the legendary band Deep Purple, interviews, documentary and studio report.

The band was formed in 2001 by Piotr Brzychcy and Krzysztof Walczyk. The band members were heavily inspired by Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Uriah Heep and it was these influences that shaped Kruk's music, placing it within a classic rock framework. In 2006 Kruk recorded the album "Memories" with Grzegorz Kupczyk (Ceti's & ex-Turbo's vocalist). The album was a tribute to the aforementioned bands. In the next years, Kruk followed their own path and managed to forge their own sound. Their proper debut album entitled "Before He'll Kill You", released in 2009, was well received both by media and by music fans. The year 2011 marked the release of their second studio album. Doogie White (ex.Rainbow, Yngwie Malmsteen, Tank)  made guest appearance on "It Will Not Come Back". The album was enthusiastically reviewed both in Poland and overseas. Kruk supported such legends of rock as Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake, Graham Bonnet, ex-singer from Rainbow, and Michael Schenker Group. In 2012 Kruk released the album "Be3". The band plan to release their new studio album "Before" on June, 9th in Europe and July, 8th in North America.

GALACTIC COWBOY ORCHESTRA has been making a name for itself since 2009
with it's melding of fusion, prog and southern rock. GCO calls it
"Jazzgrass Art-Rock." Five albums later the band continues to push
its boundaries. On Zombie Mouth, the band's new release, the sound
has expanded to include vocals.

Past ProgDay attendees will remember THE GALACTIC COWBOY ORCHESTRA
from its great pre-show performance in 2011. We're very happy to

Psychedelic Music Legends The Electric Prunes Release New Live CD 'WaS'

Los Angeles, CA - Electric Prunes fans are buzzing with excitement about the release of a new CD of unreleased live material titled 'WaS'! Featuring 15 slamming cuts to keep you up at night! American psychedelic rock group The Electric Prunes first achieved international attention in the late 1960s. The band performed their 1966 hit song "I Had Too Much to Dream (Last Night)" on American Bandstand, and were also recognized for the song "Kyrie Eleison", which was featured on the 'Easy Rider' soundtrack. After a period in which they had little control over their music, they disbanded for several years. In 1999, much to the delight of their fans worldwide, The Electric Prunes reformed, and resumed recording and touring!

 

And now an interplanetary message from James Lowe of the Electric Prunes...

 

"The Electric Prunes invite you, our closest friends, to a new adventure! WaS. That WaS the Electric Prunes! It has been a long journey here and we have waited till the planetary alignment was correct for a new release. The lunar eclipse signaled the start of something, tho no one is sure exactly what? We offer WaS as the saucer to fast forward you to the cosmic finish.

 

There is a fine line between 'IS' and 'WAS'. If what you did is more important than what you are doing, you WAS. One moment you is and then you was. Somehow 1967 doesn't seem much different from today; tastes change but I think people are always on the lookout for some fresh ideas from the 'is' that makes them remember the 'was'.

 

Mark Tulin and I were collecting ideas and songs for our last adventure when he went through the door. I am not sure he is really gone because I hear his voice as clearly as if he were standing beside me. Usually, Mark and I would send each other song ideas back and forth until we had the rough story line and music in hand, then we would meet and pound everything into submission. This CD is a collection of those final ideas and messages between us and that is all we set out to present here; but a funny thing happened on the way to the recording studio. A new idea emerged behind a gig in Tokyo in an unusual snowstorm, and then someone sneezed on a girl in the subway, and a frozen winter chilled the planet; suddenly there were new thoughts, fresh ideas and new places to sketch our story in song. Everyone in the band felt it. Like a blast of energy. The 'was' became 'is'.

 

The Electric Prunes have always been a little on the outside. Maybe it was the name? Maybe the music? In all, we have released 8 actual album offerings from the band (there are a few pretenders from the record company that we discount). Our legitimate recordings represent our thinking and, in some cases, lack of thinking. We were never mainstream enough to fret over what went on the records; witnessed by some of the goofy cuts we have released, we were just happy to be able to record our thoughts. It seems fitting that we release this 9th offering with the same abandon. This is a garage band and is not meant to be taken seriously. The music here is from all layers of the band from 1966 to 2014. This is a cool album, maybe the last we will ask you to support. But we do hope you will post it on the web and dance to it in the moonlight on 11! There is even a music video by the band for TOKYO floating around! Please bring your friends because the band wants to go out and play live one more time and we need you for that. Tell your local club to invite us. We will come.... We WaS but we still Is ...."

 

The 15-track CD features a throwback version of "Smokestack Lightning" from 2000 that was the band's reunion call-to-arms with Ken Williams on lead guitar, Quint back up on drums, Mark Tulin on bass and an occasional harmonica by James Lowe. Original noise! There is also a live version of "Bullet Thru The Backseat" from a night in Bristol England featuring Williams, Lowe, Tulin, Dooley, more original fare.

 

That leaves 13 original new songs to be explored. "Earwash" for the initiated!

Turbo with a new guitarist! Live shows in Sweden and Germany!

The legend of Polish hard & heavy scene, Turbo, returned this Spring with a brand new studio album entitled "The Fifth Element". Their first release since 2009's "Strażnik Światła" includes brand new material packed with solid heavy metal.

 

The band has recently changed their line-up. Dominik Jokiel, the band's previous guitarist, decided to part ways with the band due to personal reasons. He was replaced by Krzysztof 'Tercjusz'  Kurczewski.

 

The band's official live debut with the new member will take place on May, 30th in Tyrolen, Sweden.

Brazilian metal/grunge band Republica launches video inspired on George Orwell's "Animal Farm"

The video was released exclusively on Vevo and on the website of Rolling Stone Magazine

Inspired on the 'Best Seller' "Animal Farm" from George Orwell, is already available the video clip "Life Goes On" of the Brazilian metal/grunge band Republica.
"Life Goes On" is the first video launched by the band in promotion of it's new studio album, "Point Of No Return".

 

Directed by Gerardo Fontenelle and produced by Manimou Produtora, "Life Goes On" makes analogy to Orwell's work when presenting its main character, Poleona, an exuberant female pig in a woman's body. Through a radical skates sport practiced only by women (Roller Derby), the video discusses topics such as war and survival in a world of contempt for minorities.

 

According to the vocalist Leo Belling, the analogy of war and woman was the perfect plot for the aesthetic result of "Life Goes On" video clip.

"The idea of the video connected directly to the song lyric that talks about the end of individualism and the need to share the desire of transformation, be yourself, follow your way with no fear. Overcoming obstacles and taboos in pursuit of perfection. Go ahead without looking back".

The video release is part of the build up to Gunve and band's upcoming appearance at the Brooklyn portion of the Battle of the Boroughs. They will compete with twelve other acts for the right to play at the Ultimate Battle on June 27th. The winner of that final battle will get bragging rights and prizes - including a showcase appearance at the famed Apollo Theater.  

 

Pontus Gunve's music embraces the theory that music is a multi-dimensional experience and an adventure in wordless storytelling that fully absorbs the audience's mind, body and spirit. The artwork was done by Maciek Kamuda, a very talented graphic designer known from his long-time co-operation with stoner, doom and sludge scene.
 
The band was formed in 1991 in Sandomierz, Poland, and after four years released its debut album "Ecstasy". Their second studio album, "Bacchus Songs", was released in 1996. Their next albums  - "Pussyworld" (2002), "Orgasmusica" (2003), and "Virgin's Milk" (2005) - were recorded under Metal Mind's flag. Their only live DVD release entitled "Hellectrify Yourself" saw the light of the day in 2004. Their latest album so far, "Bourbon River Bank", was released in 2011. The band went through many changes but today return in a stable line-up: Piotr "Anioł" Wącisz (bass, backing vocals), Daniel "Dani" Lechmański (guitars, lead vocals) Piotr "Rutkoś" Rutkowski (guitars, lead vocals), and Bartek "Vincent" Gamracy (drums). The names should be well-known to the fans of Polish metal, as the musicains are also active members of the following bands: Virgin Snatch, Exlibris, Spirit, Chain Reaction and Dr.Ink.

 

In Autumn 2013, the band started to work on their new album "Devil's Share". It was recorded at Sound Division Studio in Warsaw, Poland, in March 2014, with Filip Heinrich Hałuchy (Vesania, Decapitated, Rootwater) from Heinrich House Studio handling the mix and mastering. The band's seventh studio release features 11 tracks full of catchy stoner rock guitars and good old stoner energy. A must-have for fans of Monster Magnet, Kyuss, Mustasch, and Orange Goblin.

"Devil's Share" is scheduled for release on June, 9th in Europe and July, 8th in North America.

Primator announces details of debut album

For five years on the road, traditional heavy metal band is well known on Sao Paulo nights 

 

The city of Sao Paulo is perhaps the main home in terms of heavy metal in Brazil. If not enough big names that originate in the city as Angra, Korzus, Viper, Dr. Sin, Shaman, Noturnall, etc, we can also say that bands like Sepultura and Krisiun became known worldwide after moving to Sao Paulo.

 

Primator is the new name of heavy metal from Sao Paulo. With five years down the road, the band is already well known on the nights of Sao Paulo for several shows already made at major rock bars in the city as Manifesto, Blackmore, Dynamite Pub, Gillan's Inn, Cerveja Azul, among others.

 

After a great season of rehearsals, concerts and pre-production, the band reached a technical and creative level they deemed ideal for locking in the studio and begin recording the first album of its career. Produced by Daniel de Sa (Andragonia, Crossrock, Strip No Altar), Primator's debut album still hasn't a title defined but is already being recorded at GR Studios in Sao Paulo and its expected to reach the stores in the second half of 2014.

 

Musically, the album is based on the classic heavy metal, but unlike the lack of criativity of many bands that rescue musically and aesthetically what was done in the 80s, Primator prioritizes identity and the contemporaneity of its art.

"We are in 2014 not in 1984," says vocalist Rodrigo Sinopoli. "We are a heavy metal band that prioritizes authenticity. We revisit the best of what was done before us in terms of heavy music, more specifically in the 80s and 90s, but to create a different musical concept in attuned to the individuality of each component. During the years we have developed a certain versatility to implement some more contemporary elements and leave aside all that, in our view, was "left", especially in aesthetic terms. Anyway, we played and sang our truth, the style of music we like and believe."

Besides Rodrigo, Primator is formed by por Marcio Dassie (guitar), Diego Lima (guitar), Andre dos Anjos (bass) and Alexandre Birao (drums).

The music by Voyager

 

Australian progressive metal quintet, Voyager, will release its fifth studio album, V, in North America on June 3 with distribution through Nightmare Records. The Kickstarter-funded, 13- track album was recorded at Templeman Audio with producer, Matt Templeman.

 

Complimented by a fiery red keytar, a feisty female guitarist, and vocals Chino Moreno (Deftones, †††) recently likened to Duran Duran's, Simon Le Bon, Voyager is a force to be reckoned with.

 

With four full-length albums under its belt, the band calls the new release "heavy, groovy and super-catchy. This is going to be pure, polished Voyager with a modern feel; we are insanely excited about unleashing this."
