Exlibris – check out the first single from “Aftereal” album! //download link to mp3

Exlibris, the heavy metal sensation from Poland, return this Autumn with the third studio album entitled "Aftereal". The release date is scheduled for December, 1st in Europe and January, 13th 2015 in North America (via MVD). The band are sure to surprise their fans this time around, also because of the many outstanding guest musicians featured on the album, Evergrey's Tom Englund being one of them!

The official lyric video for track "The Day Of Burning" is now available on YouTube in this location: http://youtu.be/zd30lArQdaQ

Piotr Sikora comments: "'The Day Of Burning' was one of the first songs we wrote for the album  and at the same time a good example of how 'Aftereal' differs from 'Humagination'. Instead of a typical heavy-metal song we chose to  focus on a more complex formula, full of interesting rythmic patterns.  One of the solos in this song was performed by Zbigniew Wodecki - a  legendary Polish violinist, trumpeter and singer who had never had  anything to with metal before but proved that he could easily perform in any style of music."

In the end, the line-up of guest musicians became quite impressive – apart from Zbigniew Wodecki,  the album also features: Tom Englund (Evergrey), Piotr "Dziki" Chancewicz (Wild Pig, Mech), Piotr Rutkowski (Corruption) and Michał Staszkun (Hate). Exlibris's drummer comments: "We're extremely satisfied about that lineup, as every single guest performer did his absolute best, and every one of them did it in their own style, making the album even more diversified. I shudder at the thought of who we might be inviting on our next album."

Exlibris – Aftereal
Label: Metal Mind Productions
Cat. no.: MMP CD 0746 DG
Barcode: 5907785038615
Format: CD DG
Genre:  Heavy Metal
Release date: 01.12.2014 Europe / 13.01.2015 USA

Tracklist:

1. The Continuum
2. Escape Velocity
3. The Day Of Burning
4. In The Darkest Hour
5. Omega Point
6. Before The Storm
7. King Of The Pit
8. Darker Than Black
9. Closer
10. False Messiah
11. The Mental Crusade
12. Suspended Animation

The recordings took place at ZED Studio. The vocal parts were recorded at HZ Studio, where the band's previous album "Humagination" was recorded. The mix and mastering were handled by Tomek Zalewski.

The band was formed in late 2003 by Daniel Lechmański and Piotr Sikora. Their first studio album "Skyward" from  2006 received quite good reviews. Over the next few years, the bands struggled with line-up changes within the rhythm section, but continued to create music and to play occasional concerts. In the meantime, Daniel Lechmański joined Chain Reaction and recorded three albums with them. Also, Piotr Sikora is a member of Leash Eye since 2009. In January 2012 the band started to record their second album - "Humagination". During the recording time, it turned out that their vocalist Marcin will not be able to complete the recordings. Krzysztof Sokołowski aka Mistress of the Night  became their new frontman. As a result, the recordings ended in early 2013. Their new album "Aftereal"  is scheduled for release in late Autumn 2014. The title "Aftereal" reflects the album's atmosphere and lyrics, and there was complete agreement in the band about that choice. The keyboard player Piotr Sikora comments, "Just like it was with 'Humagination', there's a certain leitmotif in the lyrics, which refers to the album's title. They describe realities other than our own - from nightmares, through some kind of fantasy, to the so-called netherworld."

Exlibris - lineup:
Krzysztof Sokołowski - vocals
Daniel Lechmański - guitars, vocals
Piotr Sikora - keys, orchestration, programming, vocals
Piotr Torbicz - bass
Misiek Ślusarski - drums

Pain of Salvation - Debut video clip for "1979" off acoustic album "Falling Home"

The release date for the much anticipated acoustic album "Falling Home" by Swedish progressive rock innovators Pain of Salvation via the band's longtime label partner InsideOutMusic is drawing closer.
Here are the exact street days by territory:

GERMANY / AUSTRIA / SWITZERLAND / FINLAND: Friday, November 07, 2014.
UK / BENELUX / FRANCE / GREECE / DENMARK / PORTUGAL / NORWAY / REST OF EUROPE: Monday, November 10, 2014.
ITALY / SPAIN / POLAND: Tuesday, November 11, 2014.
SWEDEN: Wednesday, November 12, 2014.
AUSTRALIA / NEW ZEALAND: Friday, November 14, 2014.
NORTH AMERICA: Tuesday, January 13, 2015

Now, the atmospheric video clip directed by Stefan Daniels for the song "1979" has been launched online at the following location: http://youtu.be/QiZh2fh_1Rk

Pain of Salvation's Daniel Gildenlöw has checked in as follows about the clip:

"We had the greatest time shooting this video. We went up north to an old fisher village where Johanna's family has rented old fisher cabins in the summers since her father was a little child. I have spent time there with her since we met twenty years ago and I love the place. No phones, no television, just the ocean and nature and these old cabins. It seemed the perfect place to shoot the video for '1979.' So, we spent a few days there, the entire band with families and Johanna's sisters and their families, and we just had a wonderful time together. I remember standing in the store Googling beer brands to find out which bottles had remained most the same since the 70s, hahaha.

We had many scripted scenes that we shot but that never ended up in the final video - some nude bathing and Ragnar jumping into the water with his clothes on from a row boat. In the end Stefan Daniels (the director) decided to go with the small gestures and made Sandrian and his kite be the heart of the video, which was a perfect decision.

My favorite clips are probably the ones at the breakfast table in the cabin and the one in front of the cinema, simply because, to me, they capture the air of the late 70s so perfectly, as I knew them. It almost hurts to watch those clips, and I'm close to tearing up every time. My intellect knows perfectly well that these are new recordings, but my heart connects at a split second and breaks from the loss of an era."

An audio stream of the track can be heard here:

Previously, "Linoleum" was launched online as first promotional taster for "Falling Home" here:

Pain of Salvation's Daniel Gildenlöw has checked in about the "Falling Home" release as follows:
"Damn, it will be so nice finally to have this album see the light of day in a context larger than my head, our rehearsing room and a multitude of work computers and hard drives in selected homes. It has been a long time, and the road to release has been very complicated and unexpected, including finding myself in hospital for four entire months after a close call with flesh eating bacteria. Who would have guessed as we set out to record a quick little acoustic something all those many months ago in what seems like another lifetime by now? On the other hand, it has turned this album into so much more than we ever expected it to be. I find the term "acoustic album" very misleading. This album is as bold a statement as any of our albums, and will in the same way offer laughter, tears, surprises and challenges. If it's not original, if it's not uncompromisingly passionate, then it's not Pain of Salvation."

"Falling Home" is a very special album, which contains reimagined versions of favorite catalog songs, two cover versions ("Holy Diver" by Dio and "Perfect Day" by Lou Reed) and a brand new song (The title track, "Falling Home"). Here is the track-listing for the US version of the release:

Pain of Salvation - "Falling Home":
1. Stress
2. Linoleum
3. To the Shoreline
4. Holy Diver (Dio Cover)
5. 1979
6. She Likes to Hide (Bonus Physical-only Track)
7. Chain Sling
8. Perfect Day (Lou Reed Cover)
9. Spitfall
10. Mrs. Modern Mother Mary
11. Flame to the Moth
12. King of Loss (Bonus Physical-only Track)
13. Falling Home

Next to the Jewel Case CD and the Digital Download formats, "Falling Home" will be also available in Europe as limited edition Digipak CD with expanded artwork and two bonustracks ("She Likes To Hide" and "King Of Loss") and also as limited Gatefold LP version on 180gr. vinyl (On black vinyl, but also 200x copies on white vinyl exclusively from the IOM Webshop).

Alastor welcome new members!

After a short break, the thrash metal musicians from the band Alastor return in a new lineup. The period of silence in the ranks of that legendary band turned out to bring about some very constructive results and we'll soon have a chance to hear the band's new musicians at concerts. Right now, most intense rehearsals are being held with the guitarist Piotr Szoszkiewicz and the bassist Mariusz "Metys" Matusiak, formerly performing in the band AHAJA. Both bands had played together on a number of occasions and, today, these two musicians have been invited to cooperate with Alastor. Soon, we'll have a chance to check out the results of this cooperation.

Alastor – Mariusz, Piotr

The latest album released by the legendary Alastor, "Out of Anger", was released back in 2012. It was their first release after the new singer, Michał "Mish" Jarski, joined their ranks. The album is comprised of 8 modern thrash metal songs, which were recorded at ZED Studio. The band was formed in 1986 and has a well-established position on the Polish metal scene.

New information on the band coming soon!

The thrash metal band Alastor was formed in 1986 in Kutno, Poland and through the years they have become a legend. The band has an established position on the Polish metal scene – their previous studio albums were appreciated by fans and critics alike. Their debut album from 1989, entitled „Syndroms of the Cities", was recorded in the following line-up: Sławomir Bryłka  (drums), Mariusz Matuszewski (guitars), Grzegorz Frydrysiak (bass), Waldemar Osiecki (guitars) and Robert Stankiewicz(vocals). The album was originally released on vinyl by the Italian label Metalmaster. Their sophomore album "Destiny" was recorded in 1990 but it was never released. The year 1994 brought their next album "Zło" (LoudOut Records). In the following years, the band managed to record two more albums („Żyj, gnij i milcz" in 1997, „Spaaazm" in 2005). In 2010, the band underwent some line-up changes. In the new, improved line-up the band recorded their new material „Out of Anger".  In September 2012 Metal Mind Productions re-issued Alastor's first two albums - the material was remastered and released in a limited digipack edition.
In 2014 the band return in a new line-up and hopefully with a new material. More details to be confirmed soon.

United Progressive Fraternity launch lyric video for 'Intersection'

United Progressive Fraternity are set to release their debut album 'Fall In Love With The World' on November 25th, 2014 in North America. The band can now reveal a lyric video for the track 'Intersection', and you can you check that out here:

Band leader Mark Trueack had this to say about the track:

"It was back in late 2013 when Sean and I were working on the concept for "Turn Left" which was to be the next album for Unitopia, and where this track was born. The original idea was tell the story of direction and understanding the decisions that we must take in a world that is confused, always asking ourselves if we are on the right path. As always in life there is something standing in the way and from that we must learn to overcome the problems we face. The original arrangement had a heavy ELP/Moraz-type piano but I felt it was too cliché and not original to the sound that we were looking for. Matt and Marek soon came up with a brilliant duet for this section which enhanced the piece and gave it its own originality. "Intersection" is a musical journey of hope and vision."

The release will arrive as a jewel case (incl. an additional bonus track) & digital download, and the full track-listing can be found below:

1. We Only Get One World (Overture)
2. Choices
3. Intersection
4. The Water
5. Don't Look Back - Turn Left
6. Travelling Man (The Story Of ESHU)
7. Fall In Love With The World
8. Religion Of War

You can check out a video for the track 'The Water' featuring Jon Anderson (Yes) here:

Formed from the ashes of respected Australian progressive rockers Unitopia, the band sees Matt Williams, Dave Hopgood, Tim Irrgang & Mark 'Truey' Trueack joined by Guy Manning (Manning, The The Tangent), Daniel Mash (Maschine, The Tangent), & Marek Arnold (Toxic Smile, Seven Steps to the Green Door, Cyril, Flaming Row). The forthcoming album also features guest appearances from Jon Anderson of Yes, as well as Steve Hackett of Genesis.

GUS G. premieres "Long Way Down" video via Revolver Mag.com

OZZY OSBOURNE / FIREWIND guitarist GUS G. released a limited and expanded edition of his debut solo album, I Am The Fire, this week via Century Media Records. To promote this release, a striking new video for the album's single "Long Way Down (Feat. Alexia Rodriguez)" has been shot by acclaimed director and long-time GUS G. creative partner Patric Ullaeus (IN FLAMES, WITHIN TEMPTATION, AT THE GATES, etc.). To watch the video, head over to Revolver Mag.com:

http://www.revolvermag.com/?p=67929

GUS G. has checked in to comment about the video's background and storyline:
"I worked on this track with producer Kevin Churko (OZZY, 5FDP, etc.), his son Kane and Alexia Rodriguez from EYES SET TO KILL. Once we finished it, we knew we had a special song in our hands.

The 'Long Way Down' lyrics were inspired by a scene I witnessed many years ago, when I briefly lived in Sweden. What I saw, is the exact storyline with the girl in this video.
We hear about suicides all the time in the news, it's always shocking. Hundreds of thousands of people deal with depression everyday. They're brave.

If there is one message we'd like to pass out with this song & video, it is that suicide can be prevented. If you need help, or know someone who does, reach out to any organization of the following:
http://www.suicidepreventionlifeline.org  (US)
http://www.suicide.org/international-suicide-hotlines.html (International)
Many thanks to Patric Ullaeus for your belief, your dedication and always awesome videos!"

Additionally, an instructional clip by GUS G. for the instrumental track "Vengeance" has been launched by the Guitar Pro blog. Check it out here: http://blog.guitar-pro.com/2014/11/gus-g-vengeance-guitar-riff/ (English) or here: http://blog.guitar-pro.com/fr/2014/11/gus-g-vengeance-riff-guitare/ (French).

GUS G. handles all guitar, bass and keyboards on I Am The Fire and is joined by a roster of friends and guests that helped bring his vision to fruition: drummers Jeff Friedl (A PERFECT CIRCLE, PUSCIFER, DEVO) and Daniel Erlandsson (ARCH ENEMY), bassists David Ellefson (MEGADETH), Billy Sheehan (MR. BIG, DAVID LEE ROTH) and Marty O'Brien (TOMMY LEE, WE ARE THE FALLEN), and vocalists Mats Leven (CANDLEMASS, ex-YNGWIE MALMSTEEN/THERION), Blake Allison (DEVOUR THE DAY), Michael Starr (STEEL PANTHER), Alexia Rodriguez (EYES SET TO KILL), Tom S. Englund (EVERGREY), Jacob Bunton (ADLER) and Jeff Scott Soto (TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA, ex-JOURNEY). The album showcases a well-balanced mix of active rock, classic hard rock, traditional metal and guitar-driven instrumentals, taking listeners on a diverse journey through GUS G.'s soulful playing.

Memories Of Always: the new album by Franco Baggiani

Jazz, funk, rock and serial arrangements: in his thirteenth work as a
soloist, the eclectic Florentine trumpeter leads a volcanic ensemble
between total improvisation and art music
Memories Of Always: the new album by Franco Baggiani

MEMORIES OF ALWAYS
Sound Records
7 tracks,
69.18 minutes

Smoldering, magmatic, swirling sounds: 7 long studio tracks created by
the nods, looks, intuitions, collective flights and solo meditations
of a 7-element ensemble. Memories of Always, Franco Baggiani's newest
work, is an echo of the funky mid-70s sound à la Miles Davis, among
others: "While the overall structure maintains somewhat of a 1970s
Davis-like essence, in this album I looked beyond that-at the 70s in
general, of course, but not only to Davis, also to Ornette and Sun Ra,
and found inspiration listening to Alfredo Casella and to certain
Italian serial composers from the past century. If the starting point
may appear to be Davis-like, the final outcome certainly is not.

Among the most productive Italian jazz trumpet players, and a
one-of-a-kind personality in his genre in Europe given the numerous
activities performed(discography, composition, teaching, education and
art direction), Franco Baggianihas traveled alone down the path of the
eclectic jazz man, finally creating an innovative album, which breaks
away from the others, especially from the earlier My Way Through The
Jungle: "While My Way Through The Jungle was a personal, non-didactic
tribute to Miles' 1969-1974 period, Memories blends all the recordings
made in between, such as the more radical LPs Think, Florentine
Session and The Dead City, in which my horizons came together with
total improvisation and the musicians on them were totally different,
with rather different qualities. What has always remained the same is
the fact that all recordings are live-they are true, genuine studio
improv sessions."

The studio sessions the Florentine artist refers to are particularly
suggestive moments, for atmosphere and conducting. The ensemble
Baggiani directs – made peculiar by two percussionists added to the
drums – experiments with the unusual combination of 1900 serial music
and typically funky groove, under the typical direction that is dear
to Baggiani: "I conducted the sessions borrowing from the
gesture-based directing method used in European art music and
developed in the 50s. I use about 6,7 conventional signs: each one
corresponds to a specific instruction, which may relate to dynamics,
to the exit or entrance of an instrument, to the dynamic contrast
between instruments, to an exact rhythmic representation, to the
movement of the melody towards a precise rhythmic pattern, to an
improvised woodwinds section, etc. It often happens that I whisper
musical phrases and sudden ideas in the musicians' ears, and they must
then play them when they receive my signal. I also have six mouth and
eye signs: they also correspond to specific music patterns…"

Franco Baggiani: trumpet and conduction
Giacomo Downie: baritone sax
Adriano Arena: electric guitar
Lorenzo Forti: bass guitar
Fabio Ferrini: percussion
Alessandro Criscino: percussion
Alberto Rosadini: drums

Wrapped in an abstract, distress-filled fantasy the album presents our impressions about our world, our society, ourselves - the reason we are here and ultimately the ending we are headed. The album consists of eight movements:

1. Ethereal Eternity: the realm of true emptiness, a world absent of life, dreams, fear and pain. 2. Black Spiral: stranded between two worlds trying to escape from the Spiral that hauls your soul into total annihilation. 3. Memento Mori: a metaphor for the recurring things in life you always think you can withstand - but in the end it breaks you every time. 4. The Last Drop Falls: the last attempt to emerge from the inevitable, ending in complete surrender. 5. Presentiment: images reminiscent of the future overrun your consciousness. Only a fracture of reality echoes in you leaving you paralyzed by fear - all you can do is breath in and out. 6. Presentiment (Part II): even with all the beauty and innocence of the unknown the uncertainty of it makes you tremble with fear. 7. False Sense of Confidence: the realization that the ignorance-based extreme self-confidence will eventually devour your whole existence. 8. It's Ubiquitous: the dissolution of this encompassing premonition, that states that there is still some hope left for us. The darkness surrounding us all dissolves into the light - since darkness is just the lack of light.

Lyrics can be found next to the songs on our Bandcamp page.

Cover art

THE LABYRINTH is a creation by Budapest-based artist, Norbert Fekete. Since this is a sort of conceptual recording about human fears, fate and suggest a positive outcome we decided to build the cover around such ideas. The maze totally fits this mindset as it demonstrates hopelessness (by seemingly endless labyrinth, vast walls) and the randomness of our fate (storm on the left, brighter sky on the right) quite well.

Bio

After the unexpected success of the Deadborn Dreams demo the band had troubles finding stable, lasting members. While the search has taken up several years, founder and band leader Dömötör Gyimesi worked on his ideas which eventually became the foundation for the Presentiment LP. In September 2012 he met János Mayer which has not only shifted the songs towards a more progressive approach but became the turning point in the band's history. In September 2013 the band started recording the demos with the beautiful soprano of Mária Molnár. After a lot of hard work and with the help of Gergő Drahota (VolumeFeeder) and Jenő Godó the band finally went into the studio to record the Presentiment LP, a concept album consisting of eight progressive dark metal movements.

Lineup for the album:
Dömötör Gyimesi (guitars, vocals)
János Mayer (keyboards)
Mária Molnár (vocals)
Jenő Miklós Godó (drums)
Gergő Drahota (bass)

Guest appearances:
Péter Csontos (The Void) - cello on 'Presentiment Part II'
Thomas Williams - narration on 'Presentiment' and 'The Last Drop Falls'

progmetalzone.com:  "This is gonna knock you out! Amazing debut by this dark and at times foreboding band. Very much influenced by bands like Tool and Katatonia but with a strong dark symphonic metal aspect. Great use of female and male (mostly) death vocals too. Dramatic gothic-esque keyboards add tremendous depth to the sound. Seriously, Dreamgrave is one of the best debuts we've heard in a long time and easily one of the best albums of the year."

metalunderground.com: "This latest release sees the group wrapping progressive and post-rock elements around a core of dark metal with a beauty-and-the-beast presentation of harsh growls and female clean singing. From technical noodling to psychedelic keyboards and more, the full-length has more than a few surprises up its sleeve, and is well worth hearing for fans of progressive metal that loves to play with the boundaries between genres."

angrymetalguy.com:  "Great arrangements. Particularly the interplay between the growls and the cleans are extremely good. So keep your eye peeled for @DreamgraveBand."

Swedish Composer and Prog Keyboard Virtuoso Pär Lindh Releases New Classical Christmas Album 'Three Christmas Concertos'

Swedish Composer and Keyboard Virtuoso Pär Lindh Releases New Classical Christmas Album 'Three Christmas Concertos'

¨Classical Rock Keyboard Legend Pär Lindh goes all the way and releases his first Concerto in Classical style!¨

Sweden - Possibly one of the most talented composer and keyboardist to emerge from Sweden, Pär Lindh will be releasing a new classical CD titled 'Three Christmas Concertos'. For those in the progressive rock community Pär Lindh is considered a keyboard wizard – so much so that he was chosen to play keys for the reunion of the legendary Nice (a prestigious position only held by keyboard visionary Keith Emerson). With the release of several highly acclaimed albums, Pär Lindh has garnered worldwide acclaim. And now, for the first time, he has released a purely classical Christmas album!

Says Pär, "I have every Christmas since my youth been listening to the 'Arcangelo Corelli' concerto (as well as Greg Lake's 'I Believe In Father Christmas') so it became a natural idea once I had my own Christmas piece. When I rewrote my concerto 2011 and extended it from the three movements I composed 1979-1981 to four movements. I found then that the third movement had a distinct Christmas carracter. And since my idea is to write four concertos to form a modern version of the four seasons suite by Vivaldi. This Christmas concerto would then have the nickname 'The Winter'. So in the future there will be the spring, summer and autumn."

This is the first release by Pär's new record label based in Sweden called NORDVERK CLASSICAL MASTERWORKS. Next release is due for early 2015. You will find on this album a new work, which has been predicted to become a future classic, as well as two well-known classical Christmas concertos played in such a way as to give listeners who are familiar with this music a possibility to hear it performed in a new light. 'Three Christmas Concertos' includes the first ever recording of Pär's concerto 'Then Svenska Julkonserten', which was recorded winter 2013/2014.

The premiere which took place in Sweden on December 4, 2011 was a huge success. Says Pär, "The work recieved thunderous applause after each movement and on one occasion even during a movement. I realised then that this work had the quality to go directly to the hearts of an audience. In November 2013, we recorded the three concertos. Kennet Boman oboe, Anders Lagerqvist kapellmeister and the orchestra has beautifully captured the mood of my work. Manfredini, having written several Christmas concertos, we choose this lovely work to be the sweet balacing piece in C-major between two concertos both in minor keys and of greater length. It has also been a pleasure to record this version of 'Corellis' famous concerto."

Three Christmas Concertos including a new concerto by Pär Lindh

1. Pär Lindh Concerto grosso in a-minor for oboe, violin, celesta, tubular bells and string orchestra
2. Francesco Manfredini (1680-1748) Concerto grosso per il Santissimo Natale in C-major
3. Arcangelo Corelli (1653-1713) Concerto Grosso i g-minor Fatto per la notte di Natale

Here's what the press have been raving about Pär Lindh:

¨Pär Lindh is the Mozart of our time!¨

"A brilliant renaissance for Swedish classical music!¨

"Pär Lindh is the Scandinavian king of the keyboards!"

¨The music was filled with pure magic, beautiful harmony and of such beauty that Pär Lindh should be called the greatest composer of Sweden. He surpasses the world-famous composer Arvo Pärt by far!¨

¨Lindh's tonal language goes directly to the heart. Like the music of the great Jean Sibelius!¨

¨This unique piece is really a musical gem. Nothing like it has ever been written in Sweden before!¨

¨A storming success! After the last movement the applause just would not stop and the orchestra had to play the last movement allegro moderato once again as an encore!¨

¨A Swedish masterpiece without equal!¨

¨The Vivaldi of Sweden!¨

In closing, Pär has this to impart, "Well the message is that since we unfortunately live in a very dark and seemingly hopeless reality today I just wanted to give people a very positive and beautiful message of hope and goodwill and to help us all meet our tomorrows in a cool, progressive and positive way."

Stoner Rock Band From Sweden Siena Root Set To Conquer The States With Their New Album Pioneers!

Stoner Rock Band From Sweden Siena Root Set To Conquer The States With Their New Album Pioneers!

Los Angeles, CA - Get on the bus with Siena Root, Sweden's finest rock band, as they set out on a virtual musical trip along the dusty highways of American shores. Pioneers, the band's first album to be released in the U.S., will allow American audiences to catch the contact high that Siena Root fans in the group's native Stockholm have been riding for years. A heady, heavy blend of Deep Purple and Iron Butterfly, Pioneerswill be blowing minds starting November 18 courtesy of Cleopatra Records.

An experimental project with roots in analogue, old school '70s rock, Siena Root was founded in Stockholm in the late '90s. The quintet quickly honed a sound that is classic yet original, based on heavy organ, howling guitars, gigantic bass riffs, even bigger drums and bluesy soulful vocals. The lead off single from Pioneers, "The Way You Turn," perfectly captures the group's dynamic beginning with a virtuoso organ solo followed by rolling drums and a blazing guitar riff that both scorches and grooves. The band filmed a concept video for the song that dramatizes these retro rockers' ability to turn all that is modern (from cars to guitars to phones and clothes) into vintage treasures with just the touch of their hands.

Watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKttTNn2vNg

The band has already earned high praise from some of their musical forebears. Mick Box of Uriah Heep exclaims, "It's nice to hear a band like Siena Root playing it for real in this overly-processed world that we live in. Power to them, and I wish them all the success in the world!" Likewise, drum legend Carmine Appice of classic rock bands Vanilla Fudge and Cactus, had a chance to watch the video for "The Way You Turn" and exclaimed "Very cool song and video!" The album also features a special bonus track, a smokin' cover of Zep's "Whole Lotta Love," not available anywhere else!

WHITE LIGHT CEMETERY: Louisiana-Based Heavy Blues Act Signs With Ripple Music

SAN RAMON, CA Lafayette, Louisiana's bluesy southern rock outfit
WHITE LIGHT CEMETERY is the latest band to sign with bay-area
heavy-riff label Ripple Music. Though an exact release date has yet to
be set for the new album, look for an announcement in the coming
months.

In 2011 White Light Cemetery released their first EP, Crow Sessions,
cementing their sound as a bluesy amalgamation of influences like
Lynrd Sknyrd, Pantera, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Crowbar and Deep
Purple. The band has gained a sizable following in Louisiana and the
attention of many southern rock/metal fans throughout south, opening
for a wide range on national acts, most notably Down, Goatwhore and
Crowbar. After the "Band of Brothers on the Bayou Tour" opening for
the Kyle Turley Band in the summer of 2013, White Light Cemetery
entered the studio and released a full length album followed by a
stint with Crowbar as main support for the "Crushing the South" tour.

Past praise for White Light Cemetery:

"White Light Cemetery is a low chugging band of Southern
brother-dudes, cranking out dirty metal and corrosion steel...If you
like pulverizing riffage, thunder sounds and diamond bags filled with
white lightning seeds, you will dig them too."
-Dege Legg, The Pipeline on The IND

"I have a soft spot for this type of sound, heavy rock in the spirit
of Down and Black Label Society, mixing Sabbath riffing with Southern
warmth a la Lynyrd Skynyrd. But still, it's a type of music that can
be easily done in the wrong way, if it lacks heart and skill, and drop
into a simple copy of stuff that's already been played. Doesnt happen
here. Where other bands in the same mold seem to have failed recently,
White Light Cemetery gives five tracks of great riffs, heavy beauty
and warm melodies, balancing the southern touches with that slight
smokey, electric despair that Down seem to have matched so well."
-Andrea Contanzo, Doommantia

Rare Recordings By Guitar Legend Peter Banks 'The Mars Tapes' Now Available!

Rare Recordings By Guitar Legend Peter Banks 'The Mars Tapes' Now Available!

London, UK – Much to the excitement of prog fans worldwide, rare recordings of guitar legend Peter Banks, best known for his work with YES and FLASH, is now available on GONZO Multimedia! Peter Banks Empire 'The Mars Tapes' (2-CD set) represents Empire lll in rehearsal at Mars Studios in Los Angeles in 1979. The band had set up camp at Mars Studios for six months rehearsing and showcasing their music, much of which has been unheard until this release. The band basically recorded every thing they did off the board, tape hiss and all.

Peter Banks (RIP 2013) and Sidonie Jordan, who not only co-wrote, but fronted the band with her powerful vocals, founded Empire in the early to mid-seventies after Peter's FLASH endeavors and attracted artists such as Phil Collins. Peter and Phil had joined forces in a band called 'Zok And The Radar Boys' which was pre-Empire for Peter, and pre-Brand X for Phil. "Sky At Night" (bonus track) features Phil Collins on drums and backing vocals and Jon Giblin on bass and is testimony of their collaboration.

Sidonie Jordan, who has an extensive list of music credentials to her name, including a diversified solo career as a staff writer/recording artist for A&M Records, and has recorded for other labels such as Capital Records, Electra Records and Trojan Records. (Her song and recording of 'All God's Mornings' was produced by Peter Townshend and featured on his 'With Love' album. Sidonie is currently producing and writing with Jez Larder owner of Skyline Studios in Sunbury- On-Thames UK, and Empire lll drummer, Mark Murdock, more recently known for his 'Cymbalic Encounters' release featuring members from Brand X, agreed to release these recordings as a dedication to the memory of Peter Banks and his great contribution to progressive rock music.

Says Sidonie, " 'The Mars Tapes' were recorded live at Mars Studios in Los Angles during the summer of 1979! And include a few tracks that never appeared on any Empire albums. As with all the Empire incarnations this album features the amazing talent and skill of Peter Banks, who has been called the Architect of Progressive Rock."

Drummer Mark Murdock explains, "The Peter Banks Empire ship set sail against the ever-changing music world, and was uncompromising in producing a range of material with Peter Banks' 'Signature Guitar Sound and Style,' while incorporating themes of the time period in which the band existed and also reliving the past by playing songs from the early Empire catalog and even a YES version of  'Something's Coming.' There are various tracks on 'The Mars Tapes' that also represented a 'Work In Progress,' which were both instrumental and vocal orientated. Empire was anticipating to make some big waves in the music scene, but the waves never reached the shore- until now!"

Ryan Bartek unleashes “Return To Fortress Europe (Part II of IV)”

Underground writer/musician Ryan Bartek has returned with his particular form of extreme journalism. Following up on his acclaimed book series that began with "The Big Shiny Prison" and continued with "Fortress Europe," Bartek now unleashes "Return To Fortress Europe."

"Return To Fortress Europe" is a four part mini-series that chronicles the authors travels through Europe's fringe world of underground music and alternative culture in 2012 and 2013. These chapters will be included in a future print edition of "FORTRESS EUROPE."

The second chapter "Lisboa e a Luz de Lúcifer" features the author going to Portugal to interview two of it's most famous extreme metal bands – the avant-doom act Process of Guilt and the most infamous satanic black metal band in Portuguese history CORPUS CHRISTII.

"Return To Fortress Europe" is not just simply a work of "music writing." Bartek assumes a role similar to many American writers that flourished in times of economic crisis. Like Kerouac, Steinbeck or Henry Miller, he shines a spotlight on the complexities of unconventional lives, and saturates his writing with social and political commentary.

"Return To Fortress Europe" walks the line between journalism, autobiography, and the classic road novel. The remaining two chapters will be released in the near future and will focus on Greece, Italy, and Occupy Wall Street.

Ordinary Brainwash is back with a new record.

After a two-year-long hiatus since the release of "ME 2.0", Poland's own Rafał Żak, the man behind the Ordinary Brainwash solo project, returns with another record. #I'mNotAddicted is available today, for free (under the Creative Commons License), in four different digital formats (ALAC, FLAC 96kHz/24bit, CD WAV and mp3 320kbps VBR). Distribution is handled in an innovatory way, which has a lot to do with the subject of this concept album. The album is artist's commentary on modern society in the context of Facebook. People use it to share the most intricate details of their lives, and now Rafał Żak wants them to do the same with the album - to #ShareItAll using BitTorrent file distribution system. Ten tracks sum into nearly an hour of intense musical journey that takes the listener through a full cycle of social experience, which is Facebook's main promise. Post-progressive character of the record blurs the boundaries between many musical genres, from classic rock, through ambient, classical music, jazz, electronic, industrial and modern metal.
