Nad Sylvan – launches video for ‘Whoa (Always Been Without You)’




Nad Sylvan, vocalist with Steve Hackett, recently announced the release of his new solo album 'The Regal Bastard' on July 5th, 2019. His third album for InsideOutMusic, and his 5th overall, this record is the final part of the Vampirate trilogy that he began on 2015's 'Courting The Widow'.

Nad comments: "'Whoa' is one of those gifts that just came to me while I was on tour in Italy last summer. It kept pounding in my head, like someone's knocking on your door and won't stop, even if you open it.  To me, it's probably the strongest song on the album. Very relatable lyrics, we're all waiting for that big life changing moment in life, no matter the circumstances."

And I also have the same female singers working with me once more, these being Sheona Urquhart, Jade Ell and Tania Doko. And on 'Honey I'm Home', there's a big choir section, with every singer that has been involved with the 3 albums that make up the Vampirate trilogy, concluding the story in an honourable way. Guitar Virtuoso Scott Henderson To Release Instrumental Album For Guitar Trio “People Mover”

Los Angeles, CA – Guitar virtuoso Scott Henderson has finished his new album "People Mover," the most ambitious project of his career! The highly anticipated instrumental album for guitar trio will be released on July 1, 2019.

Says Scott, "The music has a lot of interplay due to a busy touring schedule with bassist Romain Labaye and drummer Archibald Ligonniere. I'd say this album is a bit more harmonic than 'Vibe Station,' and the rhythm section plays a bigger role in the music. The challenge was to come up with new tones and effects I haven't used before, since like 'Vibe Station,' the songs are layered with multi guitar tracks."

"People Mover" demonstrates Scott's striking ability to combine elements of jazz, rock, funk and blues in an even more authentic, seamless and musical way than any of his previous work. Proof that after 35 years as a bandleader, Scott is a musician who's playing and composing continues to grow.

From a recent interview, "My music isn't for purists, that's for sure, and I'm very thankful for my fans who are obviously open-minded and share my love for many different styles of music."

Scott Henderson's impressive work over the years as co-leader of the group TRIBAL TECH, leader of his own ground breaking trio, and sideman to some of the best jazz artists of their generation, including the great Joe Zawinul, has elevated him to the front ranks of both Jazz and Blues. The Inside: Debut Album "The Inside"

Holiday rock ensemble THE WIZARDS OF WINTER – featuring former members of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Rainbow, Blue Oyster Cult, Ted Nugent and The Irish Tenors – are celebrating their 10th year enchanting audiences across North America in 2019! The ensemble will head back out on the road beginning November 14 in Melbourne, FL. The tour will visit cities and towns across North America, and more dates are scheduled to be confirmed soon! 

THE WIZARDS OF WINTER perform classically and progressive-influenced rock music woven throughout a theatrical holiday-themed show, performed in an intimate setting. On this tour, THE WIZARDS OF WINTER will dazzle concertgoers with new original music from their upcoming full-length album, The Christmas Dream – scheduled to be released this coming fall. The Christmas Dream is their strongest release thus far, and with its diverse musical flavors, will have the broadest musical appeal! THE WIZARDS OF WINTER have added even more new talent to their ranks this year, including violinist and backup vocalist Kornelia Rad, lead vocalist and auxiliary keyboardist Alexis Smith, and last but not least, lead guitarist Steve Brown.
In addition to being a founding member of hard rock icons Trixter, lead guitarist Steve Brown has performed with Dennis DeYoung (formerly of Styx), Joe Lynn Turner (formerly of Rainbow, Deep Purple, Yngwie Malmsteen), and on Broadway in the hit musical "Rock Of Ages". In 2013, and again in 2018, Steve was invited to be the vicarial guitarist for the legendary Def Leppard. Lead vocalist and auxiliary keyboardist Alexis Smith has performed as a lead vocalist on Holland America cruises, in several Off-Broadway and additional theatre productions, and performed a one-woman show at the Davenport Theater. Award-winning violinist and backup vocalist Kornelia Rad has toured worldwide with Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra, has worked with many impressive European composers, and has been performing since the age of eight.

THE WIZARDS OF WINTER founder and keyboardist Scott Kelly says, "This year's THE WIZARDS OF WINTER tour will mark the band's 10th anniversary and will be our biggest production to date. This fact, coupled with the addition of talented new members, like Steve Brown,  means the show is going to be over the top! We can't wait to bring it to new and old fans alike nationwide."

Fraudprophets Release Debut Album ‘Poptosis’, Allay Growing Industry Fears Of Jazz Fusion Takeover

The jazz-rock group is joined by Bob Reynolds of Snarky Puppy, guitarist Oz Noy, keyboardist Matt Rohde and Nashville fiddle ninja Jenee Fleanor 

Los Angeles, CA - Fraudprophets (www.fraudprophets.com), a collaboration between multi-instrumentalist and composer Sean Halley and A-list drummer Nate Morton (seen weekly on NBC's 'The Voice'), are ecstatic to announce the release of their debut album 'Poptosis' on June 3, 2019. The new record seamlessly blends elements of jazz, pop, rock, country and 70's fusion into tunes that feel uniquely natural together, a result of the long-standing bond between Morton and Halley and their decades-long careers on stage and in the studio…and the gin.

"It probably isn't the best way to go about it, but we randomly started this whole thing one night by drinking cocktails to a click track", said Morton. "Not having a plan ended up being a real blessing, as the snippets of music that came out of that evening were free-spirited and fun, and they were infused with personality and our love for each other as musical dorks." Halley continues, "Nate and I love just about every kind of music, so nothing was off limits if it was a style we felt comfortable with. The same was true for the production - I like big-sounding records, so if we needed a ridiculous Beastie Boys-esque organ-and-drums breakdown for a
tune, I'd have to go figure it out."

French Music Legends Magma To Release New Album “Zëss” June 28th!

Much to the excitement of Magma fans worldwide, the legendary French ensemble will be releasing a new album titled "Zëss" on June 28, 2019! The CD is now available for pre-order and features a 40-page deluxe CD book which includes all the lyrics to the album.

"Zëss"—the name itself is sharp as a blade, slender as a cut, sudden like a darting meteor, fast as it is acute. While the inspiration that permeates "Zëss" comes from time immemorial, a first draft emerged in 1977. After being gradually completed, the piece debuted in concert in the spring of 1979. It became a staple of Magma's repertoire until it was set aside in 1983.

The music itself seems born out of the night in order to transfigure it. The first chords ring out in the dim dawn, then rise and cast their great shadows against the day. Already their orb suggests the oval shape of an ancient stadium set in the cosmic darkness. It is an immense celestial arena, an agora where all the voices of the universe resonate. Everyone has assembled for a last celebration, a gathering of the innumerable into a single point where everything comes together for the Day of Oblivion.

"Zëss" had long been plagued by its incompleteness and its recording was deferred for years. Four decades after its first draft, the work has finally been recorded in an orchestral version that gives it both its true dreamlike dimension and its transcending power. For "Zëss" is above all the visionary reflection of an immemorial dream haunting the most obscure part of our souls.

"Zëss" treads a line between a vital overflowing and the edges of the unlivable. It is an incandescent and heady oratorio where consciousness questions its other side in a measureless journey. "Zëss" indicates the ultimate reversal out of which bursts a beyond of music that only music can reach. Magma's whole story condensed…

Glenn Hughes re-schedules four dates of his 'Performs Classic Deep Purple Live' May 2019 UK tour dates. The re-scheduled dates are –

The re-scheduled concerts follow the news of Glenn Hughes needing to cancel his May 2019 UK tour dates due to illness. He needs to be treated for an illness that while not life threatening, must be dealt with immediately so that does not become a serious problem. He is expected to make a full recovery. 

The shows for Edinburgh, St Albans, Liverpool and Nottingham had to be cancelled. Customers for the cancelled shows have been asked to return to their original point of purchase to request refunds

The former bassist and singer of Deep Purple, known to millions as the 'Voice of Rock', Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and the current front man for rock super group Black Country Communion, was scheduled to kick off the second leg of his 'Glenn Hughes Performs Classic Deep Purple' UK Tour at the Holmfirth Picturedrome on Tuesday 14th May. The first leg of his UK received rave reviews.

UK progressive rock band Warmrain is back with a new CD EP featuring as its lead track Here Comes The Rain Again (Eurythmics cover), a new line-up, and a new performance video of the title track filmed in the illustrious setting of Dorchester Abbey.

Drummer Craig Blundell – a name well-known to fans of Steven Wilson andSteve Hackett –had no hesitation in guesting on the title track. His one-word response upon hearing the demo was "genius". Here Comes The Rain Again is a must have for fans of Pink Floyd; the comparisons will be clear, due to an obviously shared heritage and the stunning musical quality. The EPis completed by three new songs Shadow-Line Paradigm, Keep Going and Clock Watching Pt.1, Pt.2 & Pt.3 written specifically for this release, and across the board Warmrain have delivered a well-constructed and beautifully played a collection of songs that will appeal both to fans of progressive rock and to those who appreciate stylish music of any genre.

Brighton UK progressive trio TOSKA has released a new video 'Prayermonger', taken from their highly praised debut album Fire By The Silos which was released 2nd November 2018.

Guitarist Rabea Massaad comments: "'Prayermonger' is the final part of the album story, which is about someone who is cast out of society by the state. This person is trying to convince others to rise against the state so forcefully and psychotically, that by the end of the track they realize they are just as bad as the people that cast them out in the first place. The video is an abstract take on that, but focused more around man, destroying the planet."

It's almost impossible to pin a genre tag on them, but words such as prog, metal, post-rock, and math-rock could be used to describe their sonic elements.

UK Progressive Rock Band NTH ASCENSION Feat. TEN Keyboarder Darrel Treece-Birch Release 'Fire In The Sky' Lyric Video

UK progressive rock band, NTH ASCENSION, featuring TEN keyboarder Darrel Treece-Birch in their ranks, have released a new lyric video for 'Fire In The Sky', the track is taken from their third album 'Stranger Than Fiction', which will be released on May 31st 2019 via Metatronic Records. The album contains 8 tracks including a further three instalments from the ongoing Clanaan Chronicles storyline which began on their debut release. The video can be viewed here:


NTH ASCENSION has returned to their regular album artist Oliver Pengilley to paint the stunning new artwork. The renowned UK artist made his cover art debut with NTH ASCENSION's first release 'Ascension of Kings' in 2014, and was followed by their sophomore release 'In Fine Initium' in 2016. The powerful seascape contains Pengilley's trademark imagery and pulls the viewer deep into ocean waves.

The album was engineered by Darrel Treece-Birch & Martin Walker. Mixed and Mastered by Eric Gillette (Neal Morse Band), EKG Studios, USA.

Writing in NTH ASCENSION is very collaborative. Initial 'bare bones' of songs are brought into a rehearsal setting and the band enhances the song from there. Once the song is fleshed out and expanded upon it is then ready for playing live or indeed recording. All members of the band bring ideas to the table and in some cases a reinvention of older ideas from the various incarnations of previous bands, eg Vision is a song written originally in 1991 by Darrel Treece-Birch, at which time it was 8 minutes long and not 18 minutes as it finally ended up.

Influence wise each band member sites many artists as 'having an influence'. Such as, Marillion, Genesis, Yes, Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Rush, Dream Theater, Pink Floyd to name a few. But the band resolutely stands by, that the music that is created is not designed or to order but is organic and natural.

Imagined in November 2009 by keyboardist Darrel Treece-Birch and drummer Craig Walker after both helping out a friend (Alan Allcock) with has band 'Sonic Jam Project' at a Charity concert in Fleetwood (Fleetwoodstock). Long time writing partners and friends Alan 'Spud' Taylor and guitarist (and father of Craig and Gavin) Martin Walker signed up in January 2010.

The first year the band went under the name Nth Degree but altered the latter after discovering other bands with the same name. The writing 'core' of Darrel, Alan and Martin has been in operation since the mid 80's.

A demo recording 'Frequencies Of Day & Night' was issued as a free download option via website Aurovine in late 2011. 2012 saw the addition of brother to Craig, Gavin, on bass guitar, making it truly a family band. In 2013 the band began sessions developing what became the songs for Ascension Of Kings. In November 2013 the band signed to Sonic Vista Records and began recording their 'official' debut album 'Ascension Of Kings'. The album Ascension Of Kings contains a 3 part suite entitled 'Clanaan Chronicles' which will run and occur on subsequent albums. This follows a story by Darrel Treece-Birch in the vein of Narnia/LOTR which sees the rescue/redemption of a tortured realm from an evil dictator by a Seventh Rider who ultimately ascends to be a prophesied King.

In 2015 the band departed from Aurovine and signed with American label melodic Revolution Records (MRR). In 2016 they released their second album 'In Fine Initium' to further critical acclaim and in the three year period collectively the members released 6 albums on the USA based label.

In February 2019 the band's contract ended and they signed to Metatronic Records in order to release their highly anticipated third opus 'Stranger Than Fiction'. A marked jump in production was added with the mixing and mastering skills of Neal Morse Band guitarist extraordinaire Eric Gillette.

Light Freedom Revival Releases Taylor Swift Prog Cover Featuring Billy Sherwood, Dylan Howe and Oliver Wakeman

Vancouver, Canada - Light Freedom Revival continues its musical journey by envisioning the unique single "Wildest Dreams", a cover of the song with the same name by Taylor Swift.

Canadian singer John Vehadija is teaming up with Billy Sherwood, Oliver Wakeman and Dylan Howe to create an impressive take on modern pop by extending ideas using familiar prog sounds.

"I wanted an arrangement that would merge the Yes Universe with the Taylor Swift Universe, in the spirit of how Yes arranged America, but with the fun style of Taylor." John explained, "I imagined this little LFR project like a chemical experiment and for this reason you will find as bonus tracks my versions of America and You Belong With Me combining to form a new melodic substance."

The result is a seven minutes of fun prog experimentation which Vehadija hopes the audiences will enjoy.

The main single also debuts the guitar talents of the Argentinian guitar player Lino Gonzalez, from Cieloaberto who developed a style at times reminiscent of Steve Howe.

BANCO DEL MUTUO SOCCORSO release new track ‘L’imprevisto’, the third single from the new album ‘Transiberiana’

Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, the legendary Italian progressive rock band, recently announced the worldwide signing with Inside Out Music / Sony Music group. Their new record 'Transiberiana' will be the first studio album in 25 years and is scheduled to be released on May 10th, 2019.

Vittorio Nocenzi statement 

"At one point, the Siberian cold is so intense that the ice covers the entire track. So it becomes dangerous to move on, it could be derailed. And then the train stops, in the tundra desert. It's cold and travelers start to be afraid. Lights can be seen outside, it could be a village. Then they start thinking about getting off the train to go and ask for help. The cold increases. xIt is the metaphor of the unpredictable things that change in the course of our existence, fear before what we know is always the first weapon of defense. Instead the unexpected can also give us unexpected positive surprises, if only we were more willing to face diversity, the unusual: any unexpected can build new discoveries and new certainties if we face it with courage and determination. The unexpected is just an opportunity to change. Don't be afraid of the new road that opens up.
 
"Among the sounds that characterize this track in particular the "slide guitar" of Filippo, expresses all the yearning for regret that are in the fear that travelers face in front of - nothing that has drowned our days."

For too many years, the band was only dedicated to live performances, so it was about time we would go back to composing, playing and producing new stuff! By choosing the 'Transiberiana' concept for this new piece of work, there are two main issues I'd like to point out: first the new Banco line up consisting of great musicians and great people, secondly, the presence of my two sons in the project: Michelangelo co-writing the album and Mario Valerio, who took care of a marketing and communication strategy related to it. These two elements have been the best gifts I could possibly imagine to receive! And this is an extra motivation if ever needed to do my best for reaching our goals.

Genetics – Pre release album

Genetics is a 4 piece instrumental progressive band that uses poignant spoken word elements intertwined with heavy riffs and ambient structures.

The band draws on influences from popular progressive rock and metal bands, along with influences from jazz and alternative rock.

Genetics has performed with national and international acts: The Contortionist, SikTh, Sleepmakeswaves, Leprous, Protest The Hero and Closure in Moscow. During this time, their sophomore concept album, Cynosure, was written and recorded.

About the album
The album, Cynosure, is a conceptual release that uses leitmotifs to construct a narrative journey in 43-minutes. The 3 recurring themes throughout the album draw listeners into a compelling story amidst the catchy melodies and strong riffs.

US Prog Rock Ensemble IZZ To Release New Album "Don't Panic"

New York-based progressive rock ensemble, IZZ, is set to release their new studio album Don't Panic on May 21, 2019.

Centered around the 18+ minute epic, "42," Don't Panic bears all the hallmarks of what has made IZZ one of the brightest lights in the US progressive rock scene. The band's 9th studio album reveals a fresh, new energy evidenced immediately by the title track's driving bass and catchy hooks to the unpredictable musical twists of "Age of Stars" to the instrumental tour-de-force that is "Moment of Inertia" to the exquisite classical guitar piece, "Six String Theory." Don't Panic represents a step out of the ordinary and into the unexpected.

Born in Perivale, Middlesex, England, Rick Wakeman's interest in music manifested itself very early, and from the age of seven on he studied classical piano. At the age of 14, he joined a local band, Atlantic Blues, the same year he left school to enroll in the Royal College of Music. He had his eye on a career as a concert pianist, but Wakeman was dismissed from the college after it became clear that he preferred playing in clubs to studying technique.

By his late teens, he was an established session man, playing on records by such diverse acts as Black Sabbath, Brotherhood of Man, and Edison Lighthouse. At the end of the '60s, his name also began appearing on the credits of albums by such artists as Al Stewart and David Bowie, and one set of sessions with a folk-rock band called the Strawbs led to his joining the group in 1970. After two albums with the Strawbs, Wakeman joined Yes, a post-psychedelic hard rock band that had attracted considerable attention with their first three albums. Wakeman played a key role in the final shape of the group's fourth record, Fragile, creating a fierce, swirling sound on an array of electric and acoustic pianos, synthesizers, and Mellotrons. Fragile was a hit, driven by the chart success of the single "Roundabout," and Wakeman was suddenly elevated to star status.

Yes' next album, Close to the Edge, expanded his audience and his appeal, for his instruments were heard almost continually on the record. During the making of Close to the Edge in 1972, Wakeman also recorded his first solo album, an instrumental work entitled The Six Wives of Henry VIII, which consisted of his musical interpretations of the lives and personalities of the said six royal spouses. Released early in 1973 on A&M Records, it performed respectably on the charts. Public reception of Yes' 1974 album, Tales From Topographic Oceans, was mixed, and the critics were merciless in their attacks upon the record. Wakeman exited the group before the album's supporting tour. His new solo album, Journey to the Centre of the Earth, adapted from the writings of Jules Verne and featuring a rock band, narrator (David Hemmings), and full orchestral and choral accompaniment, was released to tremendous public response in both America and England, where it topped the charts. In 1975, his next album, The Myths and Legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, was given a grand-scale premiere at Wembley's Empire Pool, although it also cost Wakeman a fortune to stage the event on ice. During this same period, Wakeman began working on film scores with the music for Ken Russell's Lisztomania, which was a modest hit.

In 1977, Wakeman returned to Yes, with which he has continued recording and touring. His solo career continued on A&M into the end of the '70s, with Criminal Record and Rhapsodies, which were modestly successful. Wakeman's biggest media splash during this period, however, came through his alleged role in getting the Sex Pistols dropped by A&M Records soon after being signed. None of this bothered his fans, which rapidly expanded to encompass those he picked up through his work with lyricist Tim Rice on a musical adaptation of George Orwell's 1984, and his burgeoning film work, which included the music to movies about the 1976 Winter Olympics and the 1982 soccer World Cup competition. Additionally, he became a regular on Britain's Channel 4. Wakeman's audience and reputation survived the 1980s better than almost any progressive rock star of his era, as he continued releasing albums on his own label. He also remained associated with Yes into the '90s.

In January 2016, Trevor Rabin announced he plans to perform with Wakeman and Jon Anderson as Anderson, Rabin and Wakeman (ARW), later in the year. Anderson revealed the three wrote "some unique songs together". Also in January, following requests from fans, Wakeman recorded piano versions of "Life on Mars?", "Space Oddity", and "Always Together" as a tribute to David Bowie following his death with proceeds from the songs donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.
