BASICK RECORDS sign 2 new acts: The Algorithm & Skyharbor!

BASICK RECORDS is extremely happy to welcome two exciting new international acts to its ever expanding roster: French electro-metal producer THE ALGORITHM and Indian progressive metal band SKYHARBOR!

The signing of these two new acts further cements BASICK's reputation as a solid choice for some of the world's most progressive and forward thinking artists.

The brainchild of talented producer Rémi Gallego, THE ALGORITHM infuses modern metal breakdowns with a menagerie of electronic subgenres such as IDM, chiptune and breakcore to concoct his own potent style of fiercely heavy music.
After a successful premiere of his live show at this years Euroblast Festival, Rémi will now be focusing on playing more shows around Europe, including a BASICK showcase in London, scheduled for early next year.
THE ALGORITHM will release a new single 'Tr0jans' (which includes new versions of the tracks 'Isometry' and 'Antikythera…') and a new, as yet untitled album via BASICK in early 2012.

More details to follow.

Stream the track 'Isometry' from the forthcoming single here:
http://soundcloud.com/basickrecords/the-algorithm-isometry

Starting out as a simple bedroom studio project, guitarist Keshav Dhar has seen SKYHARBOR quickly evolve into one of India's hottest metal prospects, with huge admiration coming in from some of the biggest names in metal worldwide.
An astonishing amount of buzz also surrounded the bands first ever performance at the Bacardi NH7 Festival in Pune, India earlier this month, where they played to over 1,000 people and were one of the weekend's highlights.

The long awaited debut album from SKYHARBOR promises to be a landmark release for the Indian independent music scene, in no small part thanks to the incredible number of international guest appearances it will see, including the likes of Marty Friedman (ex Megadeth), Daniel Tompkins (ex TesseracT), Vishal J. Singh (Amogh Symphony) and Sunneith Revankar (Bhayanak Maut).

SKYHARBOR will release the debut album 'Blinding White Noise: Illusion & Chaos' worldwide via BASICK in early 2012.

More details to follow.

MULTI-PLATINUM ROCKERS DROWNING POOL TO PART WAYS WITH SINGER

New York, NY– All-American anthemic rockers Drowning Pool announced today that they will be parting ways with their current singer, Ryan McCombs. The hard working Texas band, who has worked with 3 singers in their 10 year career, issued the following statement:

"We have always been a band who has gained success despite having multiple singers...maybe we suffer from reverse 'lead singer's disease," said C.J. Pierce. "Changing things up has not always been easy, but the band has become re-energized time and time again.  We are looking to find a new singer who will give both us and, and most importantly our fans, the new adrenaline shot they deserve." He went on to say, "We do wish Ryan great success in his future endeavors." McCombs, who had been part of the band since 2006, replaced singer Jason Jones, who joined Drowning Pool following the tragic passing of Dave Williams.

Drowning Pool turned the world into believers with their breakthrough single "Bodies" in 2001. Ten years, three singers and four albums later, they're giving fans a new reason to believe.  "Feel Like I Do," the lead single from their self-titled fourth studio release [Eleven Seven Music], became the band's biggest radio hit to date, reaching No. 2 at Active Rock Radio, and remaining in the Top 5 for 12-weeks.  With 2009's "37 Stitches" off of Full Circle reaching #4 at Active Rock and "Feel Like I Do," the band had 2 consecutive Top 5 Active Rock smashes and cemented their place as one of the top hard rock acts today. The band's sophomore album, Desensitized with second singer Jason Jones spawned a Top 10 hit with "Step Up." Recent successes have paved the way for unique opportunities such as presenting the Lane Evans Mental Health Care Reform to then-senator Barack Obama on Capitol Hill, performing for our troops all over the world and partnering with organizations like The Wounded Warrior Project and the G.I. Film Festival.

Drowning Pool is currently looking to find a suitable replacement for McCombs.  In the meantime, they have already begun writing their 5th studio album in their hometown of Dallas.

Drowning Pool is C.J. Pierce – guitar/ vocals, Stevie Benton – bass/vocals, and Mike Luce – drums/vocals.

Wallner/Vain to Release Debut Album in February 2012

Los Angeles based hard rock artists Will Wallner (Guitarist) & Vivien Vain (Vocalist) will release their debut album on February 1st 2012. The release and promotion will be handled by Los Angeles based company 'Metal Assault'. The album will feature guest musicians including Carmine Appice, Vinny Appice, Brian Tichy, Rudy Sarzo, Tony Franklin, Jimmy Bain, Derek Sherinian and Tony Carey providing an all-star backing.

The album was recorded in Los Angeles throughout 2011 and mixed by Gary Tole in New York. Mastering was completed in September 2011 by Graham Goldman at Masterdisk.

Both in their early twenties, Will Wallner and Vivien Vain came to America from Europe to pursue a career in music. After a year of performing locally in Los Angeles they had a chance meeting with Carmine Appice and Vinny Appice at the Rainbow Bar & Grill on the Sunset Strip in 2010. Both agreed to perform drums for their album and since that first meeting the project evolved featuring several other guest session musicians with Will Wallner and Vivien Vain performing all guitars and vocals respectively. Their debut features nine original songs written and produced by Wallner/Vain.

The album cover features Wallner/Vain photographed by Glen La Ferman. A music video for the song 'Streets Of Rage' will be released with the album, which was produced in Hollywood in September 2011. Wallner/Vain will announce live dates to promote their album release in the next couple of months.

Wishbone Ash and "Elegant Stealth" the brand new album will be released on 25th November 2011.

The waiting is over! "Elegant Stealth" will be officially released on Nov. 25 in Europe and the UK through ZYX, but the album is available now in the US through Amazon, including the European import.

Congratulations to Rainer from Finland, who was the very first person to own the CD (which he purchased last week directly from ZYX).

We're happy to report there's already lots of great momentum surrounding "Elegant Stealth." Thanks go out to Billy at Glass Onyon and Lee at Bright Lights for nabbing some choice interview opportunities for Andy.

A short list of recent interviews includes Sidesixx, one of Ireland's biggest rock websites (listen here: http://sidesixx.com/features/2619-we-sit-down-with-andy-powell-of-wishbone-ash/); Classic Rock Revisited, a well known US website; Sound and Vision Magazine, a large glossy magazine out of New York City; Total Guitar, and Record Collector magazine.

Interactive Guitar, a worldwide digital magazine, will produce a six-page feature on the band slated for January.

There's a special buzz around Andy's interview with Jesse Hughes (Eagles of Death Metal) for Artrocker, which promises to introduce the band to a broader audience.

"Jesse was very knowledgeable; and being a former political journalist, this will be an esoteric ramble-- quite different from the usual pitch," Andy says. "He's buddies with Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters and told me how he and Grohl really dug the two trance albums we did in the '90s, Trance Visionary and Psychic Terrorism."

That interview is slated for January release.

A Powell prototype?
Many of you will remember some years back when Andy and Gibson were talking about creating an Andy Powell signature Flying V model. Although those discussions didn't pan out, there is a new campaign under way to interest Gibson in an "Andy Powell Tribute" model. Richard Thomas, co-owner of Rich Tone Music in Sheffield, UK, is spearheading the campaign. Rich's plan is to develop the prototype and then shop it to Gibson. Watch this space for updates!

On the road again…
The "Elegant Stealth" tour begins in full force on Jan. 11 in Belgium and will take the band through Europe, North America and the UK. Steve Ozark, our booking agent in the States, also has his sights on some Brazilian dates! Check the website often for updates: www.wishboneash.com.

Panda – Progressive metal and fusion band from Estonia

X-Panda is a progressive metal and fusion band from Estonia. The band is known for their concerts full of emotion and power - pure pleasure for people who like to dream, imagine and feel. The music of X-Panda will move both experienced musicians and just music lovers. Their creations are full of surprises and changes of mood, sounds, complex rhythmical characters, rhythmic illusions, jazz-fusion chord progressions, mean and evil guitar riffs and in all this one can also find heroic film music melodies that you can sing along to.

X-Panda tries to expand their musical horizon and knowledge by creating technically and musically more entertaining music for themselves in the first place.

The band was founded as a one time project for an original song competition in april 2009. They ended up winning the competition with a song "Dickybirds". The feedback for such unusual music approach was extremely positive, so they decided to continue as a band. X-Panda has won several competitions, including the title Noortebänd 2010, which is one of the two biggest band competitions held in Estonia.

X-Panda released their debutalbum ´´Flight of Fancy´´ in september 2011
Kaarel Tamra about X-Panda:
"I think that it is unusual that four people can share the same musical interests. It is so cool that sometimes when beginning to describe a particular riff or pattern, they already know what to do without me even saying it. I find that really rare and special. We have a really good chemistry and we are all such good friends. The band is like a summer holiday -everybody is anxiously waiting for the rehearsals and concerts. They´re just so much fun, because we can do exactly what we want!"

X-Panda lineup:
Kaarel Tamra – keyboards
Risto Virkhausen – guitars
Tamar Nugis – bass and vocals
Karl-Juhan Laanesaar - drums

Main influences for X-Panda are:
Dream Theater, Planet X, Liquid Tension Experiment, Jordan Rudess, Virgil

Arena, Believe and Osada Vida recorded their live DVDs!

Last Thursday, on the 10th of November, Silesian Theatre in Katowice, Poland, for once more became the most important place for prog-rock fans, which was owing to special concerts played by three bands representing this particular kind of rock. The concerts were special because Arena, Believe and Osada Vida were recording their own live DVDs. Their release is planned for the Spring/Summer of 2012 on Metal Mind Productions.

The British band Arena visited Poland as part of the tour promoting their brand new album "The Seventh Degree of Separation". The album's official release date is set for the 28th of November and it opens a new chapter in the history of the band led since 1995 by two acclaimed musicians: Clive Nolan (Pendragon, Caamora, Shadowland) and Mick Pointer (ex-Marillion). The new material was recorded with a new singer, Paul Manzi (Oliver Wakeman Band), the bassist John Jowitt, who returned to the band's line-up after a several year break, and the guitarist John Mitchell. The show at the theatre in Katowice was enthusiastically received by Arena's fans. The band performed their brand new songs (The Great Escape, The Seventh Degree Of Separation, Rapture, One Last Au Renoir, The Ghost Walks, What If?, Burning Down) as well as a selection of songs from their previous albums (including The Visitor, Solomon, Crying For Help VII, Ascension).

You can view the photos from the show, taken by Marta Tłuszcz, HERE.

During the show in Katowice, Arena was accompanied by the bands Believe and Osada Vida.

The Warsaw band Belive performed mostly the material from their latest album "World Is Round", which was released by Metal Mind Productions in the Autumn of the previous year. Osada Vida is one of the most interesting Polish bands on the prog-rock scene. Their albums feature music that draws from the tradition of ambitious rock in the vein of Yes, Porcupine Tree, Pain Of Salvation, and Riverside. Their discography includes three demos and three well received official releases: "Three Seats Behind A Triangle" (2006/2007), "The Body Parts Party" (2008), "Uninvited Dreams" (2009).

ANUBIS GATE PREMIERE NEW VIDEO ON METAL INJECTION

ANUBIS GATE recently completed work on a video for their song "Golden Days". The song is taken from the band's latest self-titled release which is available now on Nightmare Records. Metal Injection is hosting an exclusive premiere of the video HERE

The music of ANUBIS GATE: Stylistically Anubis Gate is conglomeration of the classic 80's heavy metal, a more epic 90's ambience and a dark progressiveness of our days. You could describe it as metal with beautiful soundscapes, cool riffing, and a clear and powerful vocal performance.

The new album, titled simply ANUBIS GATE, is the most beautiful album the band has yet emerged with. The songwriting, which has always been the core of the "ANUBIS GATEsound", stands stronger than ever. This time emphasized by the fact that Henrik Fevre, who was largely responsible for writing the vocals on the previous albums, gets to sing the songs he wrote himself, injecting the emotion and meaning into the lyrics that he had in mind when writing them.

ANUBIS GATE isn't an album that's about endless keyboard/guitar unison soloing. It's all about the songs. From the classic Anubis Gate opener "Hold Back Tommorow" to the melancholic, but very crunchy, "The Re-formation Show", this album displays ANUBIS GATE at the top of their game while in no way rehashing their last two albums. Quite to the contrary, this album sees the band taking new turns whilst retaining the core of all the albums that came before.
