Legendary performer and the hardest working guitarist in the business, Joe Satriani confirms the release of his 14th studio album, "Unstoppable Momentum" in the UK on Monday May 6 (U.S. release is Tuesday May 7) through Epic Records/Sony Music UK.  The album was recorded at Skywalker Sound in San Francisco and was produced by Satriani and Mike Fraser (AC/DC).

After returning from the South American G3 Tour in October 2012, Satriani got down to writing new music over the next two months. As he recalls, "A very prolific and cathartic two months followed resulting in a bundle of new music I was very excited to get recorded."  Click HERE to download the album artwork and read the official web press release.

Eleven songs were selected to record, all of which were "heading in different directions and touching on a variety of musical influences."  With that in mind, Satriani assembled a new studio band, including Vinnie Colauita (Sting, Jeff Beck) on drums, Chris Chaney (JanesAddiction) on bass and Mike Keneally (Dethklok) on keyboards. "The idea was to crank up the energy level of the sessions, and allow for more individual expression from each player. OBLIVION SUN - "The High Places"
Oblivion Sun is the brainchild of Frank Wyatt and Stanley Whitaker, founding members of 70's Arista recording artists Happy The Man. HTM reformed in 1999 to headline Nearfest 2000 and they released their first CD in almost 25 years, "The Muse Awakens" in 2004. Frank and Stan recognized the difficulty in getting together to work on new HTM music due to personal schedules and proximity. They had amassed an abundance of material that they feared would never get recorded if they waited for HTM to record it. It was out of this reality that they began recording the duo project "Pedal Giant Animals". The PGA project, with guest musicians Chris Mack and Pete Princiotto, became the seed for a new band…Oblivion Sun. Oblivion Sun comfortably crosses many genres while staying true to their progressive roots. This is a band that's not afraid to get downright funky at times and throw down some serious rock grooves and even improvisation! Expect a good deal of vocal content as well! Fear not, this is still prog and fans of HTM's lush arrangements will not be disappointed!

Amazon embarks to Holland to record new album with Sander Gommans and Amanda Somerville

The symphonic metal band AMAZON was a well know name in Brazil in the begining of the year 2000. Its first album, Victoria Regia, was released by Hellion Records in 2005 and soon the band was on the pages of the main specialized magazines from that time. They also did shows together with Nightwish and Epica and it didn't take much time until the band was considered the biggest reference in this musical segment in Brazil.

Currently formed by Sabrina Todt (vocal and flute), Renato Angelo (guitar and keyboards), Newton Olivieri (bass) and Marcos Frazão (drums), AMAZON also released in 2004 the DVD Ao Vivo Em São Paulo (Via Funchal) and in 2010 the second studio album,
Nature's Last Ride.

The band is now working on the new album, the third of its career, that is being produced by two very respected artists from the symphonic metal segment: Sander Gommans and Amanda Somerville.

Former member of After Forever, Sander Gommans is currently playing on Trillium, HDK, Somerville/Kiske and also working as musical producer. On the new AMAZON album, he is the producer for all the guitar parts.

The singer Amanda Somerville, famous for her works on Avantasia, Aina, After Forever, Epica, Kamelot, etc, also has an expressive career as producer, particularly regarding the voice. In this new AMAZON album, Amanda is responsable for the production of all vocal lines, besides acting as Sabrina Todt's coach, including some arrangments and lyrics.

Part of the recordings were already finished in Campinas, Brazil, and the band embarks to Holland this Wednesday, March, 20th where they will meet with Sander Gommans and Amanda Somerville at the The Rock Station studios in Reuver to continue the work.

The group will keep its Fan Page on Facebook updated with photos and videos directly from the studio during the 10 days of recordings.

Check out daily:
www.facebook.com/AmazonMetal

Still untitled, the new AMAZON album will bring 10 tracks and it's expected to reach the stores in the second half of 2013.

George A. Romero's "Knightriders" makes worldwide Blu-ray debut!

Arrow Videoare pleased to announce that George A. Romero's lost action classic Knightriders will make its UK DVD debut & worldwide Blu-ray debut on Monday 22nd April.

Specially restored by Arrow, the deluxe edition of Knightriders will include both DVD and Blu-ray copies of the film, along with a host of special features and collector's items. Read the online press release, containing a full synopsis, trailer and special features here – http://bit.ly/ZKez90

Made immediately after his zombie classic "Dawn of the Dead", Romero's Knightriders is both clearly the work of the same director, as well as a marked change of tone. There's still plenty of action, but rather than flesh eating maniacs, the film features medieval jousters riding modern-day motorcycles.

StarringEd Harris (Apollo 13, The Truman Show) in his first-ever leading role, Knightriders depicts a troupe of travelling entertainers, trying to live their lives according to the ideals of King Arthur. Their medieval values prove increasingly difficult to uphold in Reagan's America, where the outside world and its financial realities constantly encroach on their dreams.

Enigmatic fuzz-rock debut from COLOUR OF BONE

'Low Mode', the debut single from the enigmatic Colour Of Bone opens with an infectious distorted guitar riff set against a dense backdrop of pulsating electronics; brooding a sense of melodrama.

The enigmatic artist, composer and musician behind the Colour Of Bone moniker, who does not wish to be named, appears only as a silhouette in the track's accompanying video:

'Low Mode', the debut single from the enigmatic Colour Of Boneopens with an infectious distorted guitar riff set against a dense backdrop of pulsating electronics; brooding a sense of melodrama.

The enigmatic artist, composer and musician behind the Colour Of Bone moniker, who does not wish to be named, appears only as a silhouette in the track's accompanying video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTwRdxrYQ0I). Singing of romantic misgivings, 'Low Mode' intensifies as the thick crunching bass rolls and descends again and again beside fat thumping toms, eventually being answered by the futuristically heavy simplicity of its harmonised chorus. Hell hath no fury like a guitar scorned.

This epic debut single culminates in stabbing orchestral synths spiraling alongside cinematic drums, setting Colour Of Bone apart as an awesome new and unpredictable artist. Undaunted and fearlessly crossing the boundaries of grinding heavy rock and subtle electronic melodies, here is a uniquely endearing ultramodern quality willing you to keep coming back for regular doses of elephantine riffage in earnest to find something new hidden within the bed of sounds.

Fierce And The Dead sign to Bad Elephant Music for 2nd Album.

B.E.M. is delighted to announce partnering with The Fierce And The Dead for the production, release and worldwide distribution of the band's second full-length album.

The Fierce And The Dead - guitarists
Matt Stevens and Steve Cleaton, bassist and producer Kev Feazey and drummer Stuart Marshall - was originally born out of sonic experimentation when making Matt's second solo album, Ghost, and they've developed into one of the most original bands in the UK rock scene. Their unique brand of instrumental rock music, fusing rock, post-rock, punk and progressive elements, has made a big impression though one full-length album and two EPs, and their incendiary live performances, most recently as part of the Stabbing a Dead Horse tour of the UK with Knifeworld and Trojan Horse.

David Elliott, founder and CEO of Bad Elephant Music said: "We're proper made up to be working with The Fierce And The Dead. They're absolutely our kind of band, and lovely guys too. I'm looking forward to hearing what Matt, Kev, Stuart and Steve are going to produce for us, and of course it will be an absolute monster. Collaborating with a band of TFATD's calibre is a huge honour for us, and we welcome them with open arms to the BEM family."

Matt Stevens, on behalf of The Fierce And The Dead, said: "We are extremely pleased to partner with Bad Elephant on this album, they are true music lovers and believe in supporting the artist. This will allow us to make the music we want to make and have the support to help us gain a wider audience, without in anyway compromising our vision for our new album. And they like a good curry, which is nice."

The as yet untitled album is scheduled for release in the Autumn of 2013.

So there you go. We're very pleased to have the support of B.E.M. It's going to make a big difference to us.

And in other news you can listen to our released music on Spotify! Share it around and make a few new converts!

The Green Violinist To Release Edifying Debut CD 'More Thrill & Never Ending Blessings' On Galileo Records

Belgium – The Green Violinist start their debut album 'More Thrill & Never Ending Blessings' dreamy, playfully, enchanting... From there, the music proceeds quietly flowing and full of wonderful harmonies. The songs will catch your attention. Vincent Defresne, leader and songwriter of the band, admits he was inspired by the painting by famous artist Marc Chagall 'The Green Violinist'. He managed to capture the spirit of the picture in an incredible way and to transfer it into music. The result is a wonderful collection of Neoprog-songs containing its fair share of acoustic moments (guitar, piano and violins). But the range goes further including electronic, almost trance-like songs that take you into another world.

In the beginning...

Back in 2003, Vincent Defresne, after weeks of despair and personal depression, finds himself being at a dead end... The question he asks, "How do I transform life from a moment of 'reaction' to a glorious moment of 'creation'?" Sitting perfectly alone, profoundly submerged into his thoughts, Vincent was suddenly surrounded by a huge feeling of being "perfectly present" during the wonderful Silver Mount Zion's "13 Angels Standing Guard 'Round The Side Of Your Bed" was playing – mystical! It was then that the portrait of Marc Chagall's Green Violinist bought a few days before at Guggenheim's Museum at Bilbao began to wake up – he saw him really come to life! The combination of one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written mixed with that great canvas and exhaustion caused by stress and sadness truly CREATED a moment of pure delight...an intense feeling of being ALIVE!

That was the day Vincent decided to call his new musical project "The Green Violinist".

A few years have passed and the situation has changed... "Sioban" (his former band) stopped giving him joy anymore and the feeling of being understood and supported by his old musical friends started disappearing little by little. The Sioban family no longer stood by each other... the end of a dream. "This is the right time to come back to that tremendously good intuition felt many years ago," Vincent thought... and he gave physical birth to The Green Violinist.

With now the freedom to be himself and with a few songs taken from a Sioban demo, Vincent began to work... Quickly followed former Sioban bassist and sound magician Regis Planque and his alter ego, drummer and rhythmic wizard Gabriel Peeters. The triumvirate was also helped by accordionist Emilie Laclais (backing vocals), Raphael Bresler and the amazing Mathieu Vandermolen (electric guitars).

Vincent boasts a wide array of musical influences that include Barclay James Harvest, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Marillion, Nick Drake, Paul Simon and Alphaville to name a few. Songs were put together during several months, and the concept behind 'More Thrill & Never Ending Blessings' increased week after week to end with an album which bears the will to give the right to speak to those who are never allowed to get a word in edgewise... The weak ones, the scapegoats, the shy people, the gentle ones, the mourning people, the maladjusted ones, the society's rejects, the desperate lovers... Every song is a hymn to those pariahs and are dedicated to us all – Receive and Transmit.

Vincent discusses the concept behind 'More Thrill & Never Ending Blessings', "It's a Call...a spiritual call made to transform thoughts into words, in order to transform words into actions... It's a Call for 'More Thrill' in our lives, to increase our feelings of BEING ALIVE and turn every second into a never ending blessing. The inspiration came as a Healer...to tell about my longing, all those words left unsaid, trapped into my body and soul...the way for me to escape illness and disease by letting it all out. I wanted to make an album that could be a beacon of Hope for all those who didn't feel they truly belong to this violent world – the shy, the weak and the sweet ones... Through music I want the damaged ones to know they're never alone."

The songs were mainly recorded at Jedinakow Studios, the band's own private place of creation and Island of Serenity. Tracks were engineered, mixed and mastered by Vincent's longtime friend and bass player Regis Planque. Also, the album came to realization through the collaboration of a huge bunch of gifted musicians, including a real choir of 50 singers directed by Maestro Patrick Jonnieaux.

Says Vincent, "We're just finishing the recording of our second album, which I am very proud of. I love the process leading to the birth of new songs, the way how almost magically the songs are given to you, how they come and how the ideas to improve them come too. The next album should be a great success for me, and I'm not talking about sales or critical acclaim...I mean artistically I succeed to create the soundtrack I wanted for a world that has changed...Critical mass is reached now, nothing can stop the new world to be revealed and I wrote music about it, to help its birth."

In closing Vincent has this to impart to his fans and listeners, "Be yourself, Trust yourself, Don't be afraid for You are never alone. Listen to the voice within anytime you feel lost, tear down the disguises and see beyond the illusion...forget everything you were told, about anything. Throw away your TV forever, make your own opinions, you are wiser than you think...actually you are wisdom itself. So love yourself First...You were only sleeping all those years... So Wake-up Now!"

Return of Little Big Fat

After a brief hiatus from live performance, LBF is pleased to announce a return to the stage Saturday, April 6th at the Main Street Grill in Bloomington.  Join us in ushering in the latest evolution of the band featuring Mark Kastory on bass.  Mark's musical and personal sensibilities are a natural fit for the band, and he's been deeply immersed in LBF originals and covers (both old and new) for several months now.  We are very much looking forward to the debut of the next chapter of
Little Big Fat.

Arena - preview of the "Rapture" DVD

As previosuly announced, the British band Arena release their new DVD in late March. The DVD titled "Rapture" was recorded in 2011, when Arena visited Poland as part of the tour promoting their new release "The Seventh Degree of Separation". The album opened a new chapter in the history of the band led since 1995 by two acclaimed musicians: Clive Nolan (Pendragon, Caamora, Shadowland) and Mick Pointer (ex-Marillion). The album was recorded with a new singer, Paul Manzi (Oliver Wakeman Band), the bassist John Jowitt, who returned to the band's line-up after a several year break, and the guitarist John Mitchell.
Filmed in 2011 at Wyspiański Theatre in Katowice, Poland, the DVD features a wide cross-section of Arena's music, with material ranging from the tracks from the band's very first release (including The Visitor, Solomon, Crying For Help VII, Ascension) up to their latest songs (The Great Escape, The Seventh Degree Of Separation, Rapture, One Last Au Renoir, The Ghost Walks, What If?, Burning Down).

And today you can see the preview of the DVD on the Metal Mind Productions' official channel on YouTube. Track "The Visitor" is available in THIS location.

The DVD also features an interview with Mick Pointer and Clive Nolan, additional "Live in Warsaw, 2011" footage, photo gallery, discography information, and desktop images!

Henry Fool - Men Singing

Henry Fool - Men Singing
April 15th, 2013

Henry Fool's Men Singing is an ambitious four track instrumental album featuring members of No-Man, I Monster and Roxy Music.

Sometimes playful, sometimes intense, sometimes eerie and ethereal, Men Singing is equal parts dynamic drums, spiky guitars and atmospheric washes of fluttering flutes and vintage keyboards.

Produced and arranged by band founders keyboardist Stephen Bennett and guitarist Tim Bowness (Steven Wilson's creative partner in No-Man), the album has been mixed by Jarrod Gosling (I Monster/Regal Worm), who also contributes Mellotron, glockenspiel and the wonderfully surreal artwork.

Appearing on Everyone In Sweden and Man Singing, Phil Manzanera's legendary guitar skills can be heard in the context of long-form instrumental music for the first time since his celebrated stint in 1970s mavericks Quiet Sun.

Other contributions come from Brian Eno collaborator and Slow Electric member Peter Chilvers (bass), lead guitarist Michael Bearpark, Andrew Booker (drums), Myke Clifford (sax/flute) and Classical violinist Steve Bingham, all of whom have worked live with No-Man or as part of London underground club, Improvizone.

A vibrant and instinctive contemporary take on Progressive, Psychedelic and Jazz Rock styles, Men Singing is available on the Kscope label as a limited edition cd in vinyl replica artwork, a standard cd and an LP.

Mastered by award-winning Pink Floyd sound engineer, Andy Jackson.
