London, UK - You've heard his voice on such classic Manfred Mann's Earthband hits as "Blinded By The Light" "Spirits In The Night", "The Mighty Quinn" and many others, a staple of FM radio for the past 40 years,  legendary vocalist Chris Thompson has released a vintage live solo concert from Berlin, Germany. Available as a 2CD and bonus DVD package, Chris Thompson 'Live In Berlin' features all the Manfred Mann Earthband hits you have loved for the past four decades, along with many beloved solo songs. 

Chris Thompson has had a long and varied career in the music business. Born in the United Kingdom but raised in New Zealand Chris first experienced local success with bands in New Zealand before relocating to the UK in 1973. Chris's first big break came when he replaced Mick Rogers in Manfred Mann's Earthband. His debut with the band was on the 'Roaring Silence' album which contained the worldwide number 1 hit single "Blinded By The Light".  Following that single the band re recorded another Bruce Springsteen song "Spirits In The Night" which had featured on the bands previous album 'Nightingales and Bombers'. 

Whilst with Manfred Mann's Earthband Chris also featured on Jeff Wayne's concept album 'War of the Worlds' recording the track "Thunder Child" which was also a UK hit single. (Chris would regularly perform the song live in the concert presentation of the 'War of The Worlds' album). He also enjoyed massive worldwide success with Manfred Mann's Earthband recording the albums 'Watch' and 'Angel Station' and hit singles "Davy's On The Road Again", "Mighty Quinn", "Don't Kill It Carol" and "You Angel You" before deciding to leave the Earthband to concentrate on his solo career by way of the band Night which Chris led for two albums. 

Following his time with Night, Chris returned to the Earthband but also continued to record solo albums. More recently Chris has been performing concerts with the Mads Eriksen band where the band perform both new material from Chris alongside other songs Chris is rightly famous for from the Earthband catalogue. To date the band has filmed two live DVDs and live albums for release. 

This live 2CD and bonus DVD package is a mixture of a live radio concert and a previous rehearsal and concert that took place ion Aschaffenburg. The Aschaffenburg material was salvaged from a full concert film and recording and is included as a bonus as it was felt that the material contained in the salvaged footage conveyed the excitement of the concert. The Berlin concert is just as it came from the radio transmission and as such is the complete concert as fans heard it at the concert and also on the radio  

Chris is backed by a full band which includes Mads Eriksen, Gunnar Bjelland, and Frank Hovland with Szolt Meszaros on drums for the Berlin concert and Steinar Krokstad drumming on the Aschaffenburg material. 

Chris Thompson's profile as an artist is currently high due to extensive touring  and also as a result of his previous work with Manfred Mann's Earthband and also as a solo artist and as such this package will be an attractive and much anticipated release.

Joe Deninzon & Stratospheerius Release New Album, THE NEXT WORLD through Digital Nations/D-Zone Entertainment, May 24

Joe Deninzon & Stratospheerius' new album, THE NEXT WORLD is being
released on May 24 through Steve Vai's Digital Nations and Joe's
imprint D-Zone Entertainment. The band's acclaimed sound is a melodic
mixture of progressive hard rock with jam band, funk, jazz, and Gypsy
influences. The unique merging of these sounds can be heard on the
album's fiery "Gods," the energetic power clash in "The Missing Link"
and the glorious intro, "Release." The album's wide ranging
instrumentals are the superfast "Road Rage" and the soulful "Ballad
for Ding Bang," and the post-apocolyptic "Fleshbot." Joe & his band
bend genres in the electronic/ska-inspired "Tech Support," the country
rock ballad "Climbing," and the bluesy "The House Always Wins."

THE NEXT WORLD is chockful of dynamic musicianship, and creative
energies of bandmates--leader Joe Deninzon on electric violin and lead
vocals, French guitarist Aurelien Budynek (Cindy Blackman, Vernon
Reid), bassist Jamie Bishop (The Syn, Francis Dunnery), and drummer
Lucianna Padmore (praised by Modern Drummer Magazine for her "Deep
grooves and serious fusion chops."

The album is dedicated to the memory of Bob Bowen, the bassist in both
Stratospheerius and the Joe Deninzon Trio. Bob was killed in a bicycle
accident in Manhattan in 2010. Bob's bass playing can be heard on "The
House Always Wins." He was also a talented visual artist and drew the
cover artwork for the album.

Stratospheerius has played at colleges, festivals, and clubs
throughout the US. The New York-based group has opened for Tim
Reynolds, Mickey Hart, The Slip, Ekoostik Hookah, and John Scofield.
The group was a winner in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, won
the Online People's Choice Awards in the Cornucopia Festival, and was
named "Best Jam Band" in Musician's Atlas Independent Music Awards.

Joe Deninzon is the music world's expert on alternative violin
techniques and has been called the "Jimi Hendrix of the electric
Violin." His song "Scarlett's Waltz" is in the soundtrack of the Will
Ferrell-produced movie, VIRGINITY HIT. This year Mel Bay books
published his "PLUGGING IN: A Guide To Gear and New Techniques for the
21st Century Violinist." A musician who transcends many genres, he has
recorded and performed with a variety of artists including Bruce
Springsteen, Sheryl Crow, Everclear, Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple,
Smokey Robinson, Johnny Matthis, Les Paul, Phoebe Snow, Jane Monheit,
and Robert Bonfiglio among others.

Joe has appeared as a soloist with the New York City Ballet, has
performed on MTV and at the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, and has played
for former President Clinton. His music has been featured on CMT, VH1,
ABC, Comedy Central, the Travel Channel, History Channel, Food
Network, and National Geographic. An active clinician, Joe has taught
at Mark O'Connor's renowned String Camp and Mark Wood's Rock Orchestra
Camp.

As previously announced, Metal Mind Productions will release the debut album by one of the most promising alternative rock bands from Poland – Minerals. The album entitled “White Tones” contains 12 eclectic tracks combining the best of alternative and rock music. TANK reveal first track from new album "War Nation"

British rock legends Tank return with the highly anticipated follow up to their 2010 album "War Machine".

 

Guitarists Mick Tucker and Cliff Evans, vocalist Doogie White and bassist Chris Dale are now joined by former Tank member Steve Hopgood on drums. Their new material entitled "War Nation" is scheduled for release on June, 4th in Europe and June, 5th in USA (via MVD) and today the band reveal the first track from the album. Cliff Evans describe the new album, "As with our 'War Machine album, 'War Nation' will include a variety of different influences and styles. With a wealth of musical ability to draw from, we don't like to limit ourselves. Individually we've worked with names such as Ritchie Blackmore, Bruce Dickinson, Paul D'anno and Yngwie Malmsteen. So many bands release albums now where once you've listened to the first two songs you've heard the whole album. Not with Tank. Each song that makes it onto our album has to deserve it. Our standards are high." Doogie White continues, "With songs like 'Justice for All' and 'Grace of God' we are upgrading the TANK sound while retaining all the elements that made 'War Machine' so successful. There are killer riffs and haunting melodies and lyrics that you can take from, what you want, or indeed what you need."

Recordings were made while opening for Judas Priest in 2011 and during the bands show at Stodola Club, Warsaw on March 9th 2012. The set list will include fan favourites such as 'This Means War' 'Echoes of a Distant Battle' 'Power of the Hunter' and ' The War Drags Ever On' plus future classics such as 'Judgement Day' and 'Phoenix Rising'.

Rick Wakeman Biography 'Caped Crusader, Rick Wakeman In The 1970s' with Foreword by Elton John Now Available!

London, UK – Gonzo Media Group has just released 'Caped Crusader, Rick Wakeman In The 1970s' by veteran author, broadcaster and journalist, Dan Wooding, with a foreword by Elton John.

The book, the authorized biography of Rick Wakeman, who is arguably the world's greatest rock keyboardist, is lavishly illustrated with dozens of photos from Wakeman's extraordinary career which includes the time his career took off when he joined the folk group, Strawbs, in 1969, and played on three of their albums.

But the ultimate accolade - the biggest break of Rick's career at that time - came shortly afterwards when a giant picture of Wakeman filled the front page of the Melody Maker in London, England, with the headline, "Tomorrow's Superstar?"

The article said: "This is the man Keith Emerson hired a box at London's Lyceum to hear. Since the twenty-one-year-old keyboard virtuoso joined the group [Strawbs], along with Ford and Hudson, [and] they've evolved into one of the most exciting bands of the folk-rock scene."

Wooding's book also includes fascinating descriptions of his several excursions with the British super group, Yes, and his many themed solo albums, including The Six Wives of Henry VIII (1973), Journey to the Centre of the Earth (1974) and The Myths and Legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table (1975).

Richard Christopher Wakeman (born May 18, 1949), was trained at the Royal College of Music in London, where he also went on to feature on songs by artists including Ozzy Osbourne, David Bowie, T. Rex, Elton John and Cat Stevens.

Wakeman has produced over 100 solo albums that have sold more than 50 million copies.

Elton John, in his foreword for the book, said, "Rick's mastery of electronic instruments only adds to his abilities, and I think it is fair to say he was one of the reasons I stuck to the piano. I also admire his attitude to stage shows - always willing to take a gamble, but never sacrificing his musical ideals. Just as important, never losing his sense of humour and his sense of the ridiculous. Anyone who can put on an ice show at Wembley must be all right. I must add that Rick loves cars and is a fanatic when it comes to soccer. Therefore, he and I have an unbreakable bond.

"It has become fashionable to knock musicians who have been around a while, and who are still determined to persevere in what they believe in. It is very easy to be misunderstood along the way, but it is vital to ignore trends and get on with what you want to do. Rick will always do this because, quite simply, he's that much better than everyone else."

Wooding, 71, founder of ASSIST and the ASSIST News Service (www.assistnews.net), and the author of 45 books, was the first journalist to ever write a story about Rick Wakeman. It occurred more than 40 years ago while he was working on a local newspaper in Ealing, West London.

"I was looking for stories for the paper and had just called in on a shop called the Musical Bargain Centre in South Ealing Road, and it was then that I heard someone playing amazing keyboards at the back of the store," said Wooding. "I waited until he had finished and then talked with him. That person was Rick Wakeman and he told me that he was then a student at the Royal College of Music in London and was also doing sessions with different musicians. He told me had had just played piano on and arranged Morning Has Broken for Cat Stevens and also played Mellotron on Space Oddity for David Bowie. Both went on to become number 1 hits both in the UK and the USA.

"Rick told me that he had never been interviewed before, so I wrote up the story for the paper and we became best friends. He invited me to his home in Northolt and I sat there spellbound as he played for me on his home piano. I had never heard anything like it.

"I shared with him a little about my background, explaining to him that I was born of missionary parents in Nigeria, and it was then that Rick told me that he was also a Christian and had been baptized at South Harrow Baptist Church and, at that time, was also a Sunday School teacher there.

"As his career blossomed, I went on to write his authorized biography,  and this latest one, which contains some updates, has been reissued along with Elton John's foreword, and the three of us even had our picture taken together at Brentford F.C. for the back cover of the book."

Wooding, who now lives in Southern California, added, "Rick and I have remained close friends for all these years and he has also performed several concerts for ASSIST in the United States.

"I am delighted that his incredible story, or at least the earlier part of it, can be told again for those in this new generation, who possibly don't know too much about the 'Grumpy Old Man' that they see on British TV, will be able to learn about his incredible talents as a keyboard player, composer and songwriter."

Why the title? Wooding says it comes from the fact that the blond figure of Wakeman would wrap his glittering shimmering cape around his giant frame and head on stage at arenas around the world to start another incredible performance on his battery of electronic keyboards.

And, even today, the "Caped Crusader" continues to push back the limits of music with his extraordinary talents.

Bio:
The band's history starts in 2006, when the singer Federico Cardinale and the guitar player Andrea Machetta try to give life to a musical project called "Dovetail" in order to express their common passion for rock and metal sonorities.
After some home-recording experiences, the situation moves on in 2009 when Andrea and Federico find the members to complete the line up: Anselmo Zoccali (drums), Fabrizio Di Munno (rhythm guitar), Andrea Traversa (bass guitar).

After few months, the band changes its name in "DieVanity" and records its first work: an EP entitled "Objects In Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear". The band's style is a dynamic mix of strong guitar riffs and fascinating melodic lines and collects positive opinions, sometimes even enthusiastic, from music press.

After the release of the EP, the band starts an intensive live activity throughout Italy and has the opportunity to share the stage with bands of undisputed reputation, like the Italian band "No Speech" and the Finnish band "Negative".

The concerts go on during all 2011, but this doesn't prevent the band from dedicating an important part of the year to write its second work, that will come out in June 22, 2012: "Ordinary Death Of Something Beautiful", a full-length album composed by 11 tracks, which should represent a sound evolution, with a lot of surprises regarding style and melody, and at the same time a confirmation of the solidity of their musical proposal!

The foundations of French band JACK DUPON go back to 2001, but it wasn't until 2006 that the group surfaced with their first release, L'Africain Disparu. Already the audacity and spirit that defines JACK DUPON was in place. Since then they have developed a reputation for exceptional live shows ("Best Band," Brugheas festival, 2007; 4th Prize out of 1800 entrants and "Best Bassist," Bilborock festival, Spain, 2007) and released eclectic, creative and acclaimed albums: L'Echelle du Désir in 2008 (Top 50 albums of the year, 'Délire Musical,' CFLX-FM, Quebec), and Démon Hardï in 2011 (#1 Progressive Rock CD, Arlequins). Bascule á Vif is a recent two-disc set capturing the energy of JACK DUPON live.

After their performance at the 2010 preshow, we received many requests to host them at Storybook Farm. The audience will be in for a treat when JACK DUPON takes the main stage at ProgDay 2012.

If a band deseves to be referenced as unique, the US ProgRock phenomen Pavlov's Dog fits the bill. Founded in 1973 by former Chuck Berry drummer Mike Safron, it's David Surkamp's incredible vocal performance, that brands the singularity of Pavlov's Dog. Consequently, in 1975 Pavlov's Dog were the highest signed newcomer band ever since! Their 1^st album Pampered Menial - including the classics Julia and Song Dance - is a milestone in Rock history, and was voted by Mojo Magazine into the Top 100 of ProgRock's most important releases of all times. An extraordinary lineup (with violin & mellotron) ties up with David Surkamp's hightuned falsetto voice – a sound like coming from another world, fragile and highly affecting. Members of Yes, King Crimson, Roxy Music a.o. contribute to their 2^nd album At The Sound Of The Bell. Later in history the legend is born, that David Surkamp died after inhaling helium. Pavlov's Dog was on fire and one couldn't but be impressed by the gifted frontman/singer…if I had to use just one word for him, that would definitely be "phenomenal"! We were all aware of his talent and his vocal abilities, but it's a different thing to witness him in a live environment. HION MARTELL celebrate their 20th anniversary in 2012!

It all started one summer day in 1992, when singer, guitarist and song writer Christer Nilsson assembled musicians in a recording studio in his hometown of Ljusdal, in the heart of Sweden.

HION MARTELL got the current line-up in 2009. In November of 2010 they released full-length CD, 'Will Cure Any Disease' (Viskningar och Vrål / Plugged). It has been well received throughout Europe, and songs from the album have been played expansively by radio stations in Sweden, as well as UK, Holland, Belgium, France, Germany and Italy.

HION MARTELL continues to stay active. The band is in the process of producing a new album with the running title 'Container'. It is not yet determined when it will be released. First the band wants to be utterly satisfied with the material.

A sneak preview in the form of single 'Water' (a remake of the EP-track from -06) was released in November 2011. This has been well received by radio stations in Sweden and as well as the rest of Europe.

Now plans are under way to release a compilation album with the best songs of the bands past works. It has been given the title 'Ultimate High' and will be out in late Autumn / early Winter 2012.
