Music Legends Magma Release New CD 'Felicite Thosz'

Paris, France - One of music's most innovative and eclectic ensembles, Magma, has released a new CD titled 'Felicite Thosz' internationally on Seventh Records (June 2012). Having emerged unscathed from STAR WARS, don't just sit there waiting for the end of the world. Take a leap into the MAGMA universe and grab their new studio album which is not to be missed under any circumstances: a trip which will lead you from Japan to the Urals via Central Asia with a detour to pay homage to Tamla Motown. Already aired in concert under the title 'Felicite Thosz' and well-attended by legions of the band's fans, the piece is dominated by the celestial voice of Stella Vander and is a formidable mix of all the sonic colors which has made this cult band absolutely incatagorizable!

Magma was founded in Paris in 1969 by drummer Christian Vander, who derived his inspiration from a "vision of humanity's spiritual and ecological future" that profoundly disturbed him. Vander was a self-taught musician, who received some tips from drum legend Elvin Jones. In the course of Magma's first album, the band tells the story of a group of people fleeing a doomed Earth to settle on the planet Kobaïa. Later, conflict arises when the Kobaïans, who are descendants of the original colonists, encounter other Earth refugees. A distinguished aspect of Magma's music is that Vander actually invented a constucted language, Kobaïan, in which most lyrics are sung. Later albums told different stories set in more ancient times; however the Kobaïan language remained an integral part of the music. Reportedly, Christian Vander is also highly influenced by the work of jazz legend John Coltrane. "For my work, it is still Coltrane who actually gives me the real material to work on, to be able to move on.," says Vander.

Magma's new CD features two pieces – the 28-minute title track 'Felicite Thosz', and a composition titled 'Les Hommes Sont Venus'. Both tracks were recorded between September 2011 and April 2012 in Francis Linon's new studio on the French Riviera. "I started working on this piece in 2001, right after I finished the exhausting recording of 'Les cygnes et les corbeaux'," explains Vander. "With 'Felicite', there was an immediate feeling of ease, the piece seemed to come to life, clear, under my fingers. True happiness beneath the complexity, the circumvolutions, the meanderings... the spires and the spirals of 'Les cygnes et les corbeaux'. There lies the color of Magma's great themes, and its quintessential spirit. One could say that the melodies have evolved, gained fluidity. The idea of renewal belongs to every civilization, celebrating beings, places, nature and gods. With the sounds, rites and traditions from various lands unfold. This theme offers a new aspect of Magma's music, a source that unleashes its power flow. I hope you enjoy listening to it."

In other news, Magma will be the headline act for the Zappanale Festival in Germany on August 3rd and Paris La Villette Jazz Festival on August 30th.

Kaipa: release their new Album "Vittjar"

The Swedish progressive folk-rock-fusion-band KAIPA recently recorded a new album, called "Vittjar", set for release on August 27th 2012 Europe and August 28th 2012 US on Inside Out Music. The unique music of KAIPA constantly continues to evolve but no matter what direction it takes it always carries a profound breath from the innermost depths of the ancient Swedish primeval forest. This time they even use the Swedish language in the title track to further express and stress these close bonds with their mother country.

Seemingly at odds with the warmth of the music, Vittjar was made using several different studios, with the musicians recording their parts separately. As the motor of the band, Lundin called the shots with regards to how the songs were assembled, giving credence to the old school belief that present day technology - no matter how useful it may be in the studio - is no substitute for experience. Lundin is as experienced as they come, having recorded his first single in 1965.

Vittjar ultimately puts Kaipa outside the genre box. Or perhaps the album gives new and true meaning to the "progressive" stamp. It's a label that Lundin has lived with for years, and he sees no reason to fight it even as Kaipa's music continues to evolve.

"It doesn't matter what we do, we'll always be placed in progressive rock," says Lundin. "When I'm writing songs I actually try to avoid a traditional way of writing and playing progressive rock, but at the same time those elements are a part of me and my history. So, I hope the result is something new and fresh. Of course, the special influence of Swedish folk music helps accomplish that, and I think it grows with every Kaipa album."

Katatonia - Dead End Kings - new album

The site will be updated regularly in the lead up to the album release on August 27th so check back for more news, audio samples and more.

A continuation of 2009's inspired & acclaimed Night is the New Day, Dead End Kings sees Katatonia conjure yet another milestone in audial melancholy & angst.

The Katatonia of 2012 is more potent, focused and creatively impactful than ever before. Jonas Renkse and Anders Nyström - alongside guitarist Per Eriksson, bassist Niklas Sandin and drummer Daniel Liljekvist – are at the peak of their powers right now, and their brand new studio album Dead End Kings provides incontrovertible evidence of their unstoppable artistic momentum. A rich, adventurous and endlessly evocative masterwork that exhibits all the Swedish quintet's established traits while absorbing countless fresh ideas into that monumental sonic brew, this is plainly the strongest and most beguiling album in the Katatonia catalogue to date. It also proves that sadness comes in many shades and that no one is safe from its cold allure.

"Dead End Kings represents progression and taking things to the next level," says Renkse. "The writing was a little more intense and spontaneous for this one. I think that's the biggest difference. But it was made with the same mindset as the last few albums. It just had a little more fire involved. We don't want to repeat ourselves. We are still hungry for new music."

Dead End Kings was recorded at Ghost Ward Studios & The City Of Glass. The album was produced by Anders Nyström & Jonas Renkse, & mixed by David Castillo. Additionally, Katatonia is joined once again by Frank Default on sampling & atmospherics, plus a special guest appearance by Norwegian vocalist Silje Wergeland of Dutch legends The Gathering/ex-Octavia Sperati.

PereirA Is the creation Of Conrad pereira, a singer, bassist and guitarist.

Calling it a day with bands, made up his mind to invest in a small studio at home to assist all those ideas still ringing in his head.

The result- 20 songs and a 14 song album called, 'A Matter of Perspective'
.
PereirA was masterminded on the 1st Of July 2011. A mix of ideas and styles like nu metal, Progressive , alternative, acid jazz, alternative, ethnic, down tempo, brutal metal, dub step, rap core, symphonic etc., makes this album worth listening to. His two finger tapping techniques on bass, similar to John Myung of Dream Theater, power guitar and a  combination of vocal frequencies makes this a fest, to make you frantic.

Conrad's childhood lacked any means of comfort but was richly compensated with the family's huge love for music. Growing up with musicians, he first broke out, on hearing Rob Halford sing. At an early age of ten till today's PereirA, he has been very active with a number of bands.

PereirA is a new awakening, a discovery, an invention, a dream come true, the combining of heart Soul and mind, blood sweat tears and hard work.

Conrad comes from small town of Basel In Switzerland, with Portuguese and Indian Roots. He is also a Chef by profession.  He loves Judas Priest &  Dream Theater  and credits them both for helping him realize.

Pereira Is classified as progressive, Alternative and Nu metal. Conrad seems to like to experiment with different styles, it adds "spice to flavor", he says. " A Matter of Perspective is a mix of Emotions , a recipe borrowed and made from life".

Conrad's Music comes from the heart. He wants to keep on composing as long as he can.  He's has finally found a way to do something he loves. "It ain't been easy" he says "but It's been worthwhile."

October Tree - The Fairy's Wing

With Tammy Lounsberry singing material for the upcoming Canvas Cd, (and on
Canvas' contribution to the Santana Tribute CD from Mellow Records, Santana's
"Brightest Star", from the album Zebop!), Matt Sweitzer and Greg Lounsberry
began to discuss a project to provide an expanded role for Tammy as lead vocalist.

Greg asked Tammy what her album should be about, and she said "I want to do an
album about Fairies." Greg wrote the lyrics to "The Fairy's Wing", and narrated the
story to her. She said "I really like the story! Where did you get it?" He was surprised,
"I made it up!" He said. The story was based on real events, although told as an
allegory.

They submitted a very rough 1 minute demo of an earlier although unrecognizable
version of "The Fairy' Wing" to Matt for his opinion and he said "I want to play on it!"

Matt began as drummer, but switched to Bass as John Swope came on board. Wait
until you hear John's stunning drumming on "Epiphanies"! Greg then asked Matt to
add some guitar, parts because he takes an entirely different approach than Greg,
and he felt that it widened the sonic palette.

Son, Daniel played some of his hammond organ riffs for his Father that became the
basis for the song, "Howl". The original working title was "Organ Harvest" , and that
probably contributed to the final lyrical idea about a Werewolf's bite.

Tammy had never tried to write a song before, but her electric piano compositions
became the songs "The Fairy's Wing", and "Ogre", arguably two of the best songs
on the album. A musician friend, Bill Unger played the Bass Guitar on "Ogre".

At this point, Chris Cobel offered to add keyboard "sweetening" tracks to these and
other songs, and that is when the material really began to shine. The effect that Chris'
minimalist playing has added to these songs cannot be overstated.

Matt submitted a song with the working title of "White Out" that he wrote during a
blizzard. When the guitar melodies were added, it became the instrumental, "Cult of
the White Witch". (Note how working titles sometimes spur lyrical ideas for the final
song)

The soul of the album is a trilogy of songs that Greg wrote based on a couple of
melodic themes, called "Parallels", "Mirrors", and "Epiphanies" The first, being the
observation by the Minstrel who loved the main character, the second, her reflections,
and third, her epiphany.

As song writer, producer, guitarist , and keyboardist, Greg was possibly the busiest
band member of all. In addition to writing the lyrics, he wrote the story in Novelette
form, available as a Kindle book at Amazon, and on the octobertree.net website.

Through this process, October Tree had become a band. Although they swiped a few
members from Canvas, they surely won't mind, because all are simultaneously at work
on the new Canvas album!

Welcome to the world of High Adventure

Circle II Circle Comes Under Rage On Stage Management For USA and Canadian Territories

Circle II Circle features the voice of Atlantic Records recording artists Savatage from 1992-2000, Zak Stevens, and was formed in 2003 in Tampa, FL. CIIC currently has five world-wide releases to its credit over the last nine years; "Watching in Silence"(2003), "Middle of Nowhere (2005), "Burden of Truth"(2006), "Delusions of Grandeur"(2008), "Consequence of Power" (2010) as well as four additional EP releases. CIIC fans will be excited to hear that they are working on their sixth album titled "Seasons Will Fall" and will be released with a date TBA in early 2013, with tours and festivals to surely follow.

"I'm very excited to announce that CIIC has teamed up with Rage On Stage Management for management, promotions, and booking in the USA and Canadian territories. This was a move we needed to make to increase our overall presence here at home and in Canada. We're really looking forward to connecting with a lot more of our fans across North America as a result of this signing." - Zak Stevens

To put CIIC in a specific genre style isn't easy, but you can expect every live show to deliver the high-powered thunder of that Southern rock-edged, progressive metal/hard rock sound that has become their unique trademark. As always you can anticipate a heavy dose of Stevens' over-the-top power and ultra-melodic rock vocals leading the charge. The current live set offers a tribute to Savatage with all of the most requested songs from Zak's era, intertwining a powerful collection of CIIC songs from the past decade; in short … one amazing concert!!

"Through my musical years, Savatage has always been a staple of my diverse sense and taste in a band. These guys have obviously paved a road for which many continue to follow and with Stevens keeping that door open with Circle II Circle, fans of then and now couldn't be happier" says Frank James, president of Rage On Stage Management.

Being able to reinvent themselves over and over again and staying relevant is extremely hard to do, and the fact that they are able to over-come this massive obstacle is something that very few bands have done. It proves that CIIC is here to stay. We're told that lots of plans are in the works with this new merge and the buzz for more USA tour dates is gaining attention.

Zak Stevens (vocals/drums)

Mitch Stewart (bass)

Bill Hudson (guitars)

PAPA ROACH ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM TITLE, THE CONNECTION

BAND DEBUTS SINGLE DURING MLB ALLSTARS HOME RUN DERBY

Rock berserkers and multi hit-makers Papa Roach have announced the title to their hotly anticipated upcoming fall album. The Connection is set for release on October 2nd on Eleven Seven Music. The new album was recorded at the band's hometown studio, The Red House in Sacramento, CA and was produced by rock veteran James Michael (Sixx:A.M., Halestorm) and John Feldmann (Panic at the Disco, The Used, Escape the Fate). Last month, Papa Roach gave fans details on their sixth album during a live chat, hosted on the band's website which saw frontman Jacoby Shaddix, guitarist Jerry Horton, bassist Tobin Esperance and drummer Tony Palermo interact with fans from around the world.

The first single from The Connection is a track called "Still Swingin," which many fans may have heard during last night's Major League Baseball All Stars Home Run Derby on ESPN. The track will be featured by ESPN/MLB in select games/events for the next few weeks. "Still Swingin" officially impacts at radio on July 24. To hear a snippet of the track and catch some behind-the-scenes footage of the band filming its video in New York City, click HERE http://youtu.be/rjcU16m9Xrs.

RandomTouch’s 'Flock' Concludes Their Career With a Bang

Asheville,NC - Thirty-three years of collaboration and sixteen releasesculminates in the masterpiece Flock, Random Touch'sfinal album. The ten tracks range from the bigger-than-life"Arena" to the uninhibited joy of  "Dance of the Elementals"to the psychedelic final track, "She Wore Sheepskin". In-between is found allmanner of genre bending complexity and unnerving cinematic suspense.

ScottHamill's mastery of the bass guitar is notable on the album. Itspervasiveness recreates the traditional jazz trio, and yet jazz couldbe said to take a back seat to both 20th century classical and rockon this album. Much of the drum play is on an Ayotte set versus theDW kit that served for the previous releases, and the album alsocontains an unprecedented live track (# 6). The result of thesechanges is a freshness and newness that belies the band's longhistory and propels the album to new heights.

"Poly-sound,across rhythm, melody and harmony, casts this music into a spacebetween the atoms, tracing tangential connections that align to asound residing deep down and out of sight." – Christopher Brown, drums

Singularas the music of Random Touch is, there is little they do that has notbeen done within the 20th century classical"tradition" or the rock and jazz idioms. It is simply theirwillingness to take risks and their unique embracing of theunconscious and serendipity that sets them apart from most of theircontemporaries.

Love De Vice DVD - release date moved to September

The release date of the first live DVD by the Polish progressive rock band Love De Vice has been moved to September, 10th in Europe and September, 25th in USA (via MVD).

The band's first DVD entitled "Silesian Night 11.11.11" features their outstanding performance at the Silesian Theatre in Katowice on November, 11th 2011. For the band, it wasn't just an ordinary gig, it was also a chance to present the renewed "spirit and body" of Love De Vice. On that November evening, the band performed in a new, improved line-up – with the new keyboardist, Jack Melnicki (LSD Project, ex-Riverside), whose rich and spacious arrangements ideally tuned into the style of the band. Except for a few well-known tracks taken from their two albums, they mainly presented brand new material. Six out of nine compositions recorded on that night are planned to be included on their new, as yet untitled studio album. These include such compositions as the Floyd-ish "Another Day", the delicate "Frosty Morning", reminiscent of King Crimson's debut, and the oriental "Winter of Soul", performed with hard rock spirit, as well as the monumental "Say No". Besides the new original compositions, the tracklist also includes a cover of Deep Purple's "When a Blind Man Cries", played in a completely different arrangement, and the band's best-known pieces, such as "With You Now" and "Letter in A Minor". On that night, Love De Vice was accompanied by such guests as the National Philharmonic musician Mateusz Szmyt on cello and Tomasz "Ragaboy" Osiecki on dilruba (which is a variation of the Hindu sitar played with a bow), which spiced the arrangements with an even more oriental atmosphere.

The "Silesian Night 11.11.11" DVD will also include additional materials, such as interviews with the band members, photo gallery, band's history and the video clip "Foggy Future".

An audio clip of the song recorded for the DVD will be revealed soon on Metal Mind Productions' official channel on YouTube.

Clark Colborn Releases "Eleanor Rigby" as Digital Single

Beatles Cover Follows Colborn's Again Album as Second 2012 Release July 12th, 2012, Rockford, IL – On July 20th, Rockford, Illinois guitarist Clark Colborn will release his cover of the Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby" as a digital single. In the upcoming issue of Music Street Journal, Larry Toering says this of the song, "…on this Beatles cover he goes all out to record a beautified guitar instrumental take on the classic.

His skills are simply unmatched by anyone as he shows how a track like this can actually benefit from his electrifying touch. The symphonic parts are simply gritty, dirty and tasteful, not unlike that of a metal attempt at the track. But the melody finds itself in a somehow more diverse simplicity and naturally more musical effort than metal can deliver. From the opening notes to the last few, it ends right where it left off with a feathery light appeal.

In between there are bursts of inspiration at every turn in the arrangement. Colborn is one of the most lyrical guitarists in the business, and he sings on the strings every second of the way. I've always loved this track as it is, even the Rare Earth version holds a place with me, but this brings it into the now and puts a hook like no other on it." While this release is strictly a digital single, and not available elsewhere or in other formats, Colborn's January 2012 album Again is available in digital and physical formats.

Along with this 2003 album Clark Plays Guitar, it comprises the rest of Colborn's catalog to date.  At "Wormwood Chronicles" (wormwoodchronicles.com) Dr. Abner Mality said this about Again, "Clark Colborn plays guitar. That simple statement sums up a lot. In fact, Clark doesn't merely play guitar, he attacks it, he soothes it, he coaxes all manner of sounds from it. The guy is a guitar virtuoso, but much more tasteful than a mere 'shredder' who makes the instrument beg for mercy with endless neoclassical arpeggio blasts and brutal polyrhythms."

For more information you can check out Clark Colborn on the web at www.clarkplaysguitar.com and www.facebook.com/ClarkColborn.

"Eleanor Rigby" will be available at: iTunes, Google Music, Amazon's MP3 store, CD Baby, Great Indie Music (http://www.greatindie.com/), Bandcamp, and at Colborn's web store: http://store.clarkplaysguitar.com/.

Will Wallner & Vivien Vain - debut album to be released in Europe

Metal Mind Productions is proud to announce the European release of the debut album by Los Angeles based hard rock artists Will Wallner (guitars) & Vivien Vain (vocals). Released in February, the self-titled album has been available so far only via the  Artists' official website. Now, with its official release, it has a new title - "Rising" - and new cover artwork.

The material features guest musicians including Carmine Appice (Vanilla Fudge, Ted Nuggent), Vinny Appice (Dio, Black Sabbath, Heaven&Hell), Brian Tichy (Whitesnake, Billy Idol, Ozzy Osbourne), Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot, Ozzy Osbourne, Whitesnake), Tony Franklin (Roy Harper, Jimmy Page, Tony MacAlpine), Jimmy Bain (Rainbow, Dio), Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, Black Country Communion, Alice Cooper, Kiss) and Tony Carey (Rainbow). The album was recorded in Los Angeles throughout 2011 and mixed by Gary Tole in New York. Mastering was completed in September 2011 by Graham Goldman at Masterdisk.

Will Wallner and Vivien Vain came to America from Europe. Upon meeting each other, they discovered they shared similar musical tastes and began writing songs together. The concept for their music was to write hard rock songs they could be proud of as artists while ignoring contemporary trends. After a year of performing in Los Angeles, they had a chance meeting with Carmine Appice and Vinny Appice at the Rainbow Bar & Grill on the Sunset Strip in 2010. Having heard demo versions of Wallner/Vain songs, the Appice brothers agreed to play the drums on their debut album. Since that first meeting, the project evolved and came to feature several other guest session musicians with Will Wallner and Vivien Vain handling all guitars and vocals respectively. Their debut release features nine original songs written and produced by Wallner/Vain.

For the purposes of this release, Wallner/Vain were photographed by the legendary
photographer Glen La Ferman.

The European release of "Rising" is set for October, 8th 2012.

Full details to be revealed soon!

Calling all Astronauts - New Single and Video - Winter Of Discontent

London based, Socio-political Alternative Rock 3-piece, Calling All Astronauts have just released their new single "Winter Of Discontent"  via MKM Records. This is the follow up to their widely acclaimed debut "Someone Like You", which despite their DIY ethics still saw over sixty radio stations playing them including BBC 6Music and Ireland's RTE, and their video gaining over 40,000 views on YouTube.

They have recently supported Pop Will Eat Itself and A Place to Bury Strangers on the London dates of their UK Tours, as well as selling out their own headline show at the very popular Death2Disco at Notting Hill Arts Club. In March they appeared on a covermount CD for Big Cheese Magazine and were very flattered when said magazine compared them to such luminaries as Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson and Mindless Self Indulgence.

Calling All Astronauts are: - David Bury – Vocals/programming

                                             JJ Browning – Guitars

                                              Kristi Bury – Bass

'On The 13th Day' also picks up where 'The Visitation' left off, boasting 11 soaring, brand new totally epic rock songs packed with hook filled choruses, glorious flowing melodies, luscious keyboards and flowing guitar licks. Right from the opening track 'All The Dreamers', (set to be the new 'Sacred Hour') you get an instant feeling that this album has something very special to offer. 'So Let It Rain', the first single to be taken from 'On The 13th Day', will without a doubt soon be officially classified as 'classic', while 'Dance Of The Black Tattoo', which, from the moment the first drum beats crash out of the speakers, mesmerizes from start to finish. 'On The 13th Day', which draws on the very best elements of Magnum's illustrious back catalogue and high end production, is a strong contender for the title of 'Magnum's best album to date.'

New album release by Illumion - The Waves

Dutch band Illumion are currently finishing the recording of their second album, entitled "The Waves". The album, formed around the brilliant guitarist Eveline van Kampen, will be released through FREIA Music in the 4th quarter of 2012. Eveline is solely responsible for all compositions and lyrics. The album will be released on HQ vinyl as a double-album in gatefold sleeve. The album is produced by Peter Boer who also produced the debut album of the band. Peter also plays bass guitar on the album.

Illumion obviously play progressive rock music. But it's very difficult to compare them to other bands, they have a unique sound. They blend influences from old school symphonic rock, gothic metal, classical music and the vocals of the older Kate Bush into their own unique style. Although the guitar of Eveline plays a major part in the music "The Waves" has a balanced sound that will appeal to fans of complex progressive rock music. Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon) has a cameo appearance on the album.

Illumion is:

Eveline van Kampen - guitar, Chinese viola, mandolin
Peter Boer - bass guitar, keyboards
Esther Ladiges - vocals
Gerton Leijdekker - guitar, guitar synth, keyboards
Tom Rutgers - drums

The debut album van Illumion, "Hunting For Significance" is available on CD via Progress Records, www.progressrec.com.
