The Fall And Rise Of… Crayola Lectern.



Crayola Lectern hatches out of his shell to unleash the breath-taking debut album The Fall and Rise of… on 15 April, Leonardo da Vinci's 561st birthday.
 
"I didn't get where I am today by going in the right direction," opines Crayola Lectern on the outro to this 5 year labour of love, The Fall And Rise Of…, indeed it would seem that only by going in the wrong direction for much of the time can those enchantments of otherness such as exist on this record come to be.
 
This is not a record of easy options or run-of-the-mill song, rather a generous gift, melodious to the last, warm-hearted in its unexpected psychedelic cadences, sprung from a musically radical and limitless well, visionary and enticing a submergence into its own infinity.
 
Crayola Lectern is Chris Anderson, of Worthing, Sussex, aided and abetted by Alistair Strachan (Sons Of Noel And Adrian, Mary Hampton) and Random Jon Poole (Cardiacs, The Wildhearts). They are joined here by Bob Leith (Cardiacs, Blurt) on drums and Bic Hayes (Levitation, Cardiacs, Dark Star, Pet Shop Boys) guests on electric geedar. Coheed and Cambria - THE AMORY WARS: FALL OF THE KEYWORK APP OUT NOW

The Amory Wars: Fall of the Keywork is a fighting game, developed by Sanchez's Evil Ink Comics, in conjunction with Southern California's Man Vs. Games, that allows fans to travel around "the Keywork" to fight as and against 10 of the most popular characters in the "The Amory Wars" mythos, including Coheed Kilgannon, Wilhelm Ryan and Al the Killer.  Players will face-off in a variety of battlegrounds including beloved and never-before-seen storied locales Apity Prime, the Faint of Hearts bar, and Hohenberger's Lab. The game also features a new mechanic for fighting games, The Swipe Button. The new, high-tech feature will allow players to focus on execution and timing by moving the button in one of four directions. Anti Tank Nun reveal the cover artwork of their second studio album

Anti Tank Nun, a band created by Tomek 'Titus' Pukacki, the well-known vocalist and bass guitarist of Acid Drinkers, and the phenomenal 15-year old guitarist Igor 'Iggy' Gwadera, is in the final stage of work on the material for their sophomore release. The album entitled "Fire Follow Me" is scheduled for release on May, 27th in Europe and July, 2nd in USA (via MVD).
 
And today the band reveal the artwork of the new album.
 

Anti Tank Nun was a sensation on the metal scene in Poland last year, when they released their debut album "Hang'em High". With the new material they take another step forward as they promise the album will be more melodic and mature. "I do believe that with this album we will prove that we do feel what we play" – says Titus. "Do we experiment? I guess not. What inspires us still lies exactly in the same place where it did when we recorded our debut album. The new tracks are more solid and, at the same time, more clear." This time it's more like team work. "We were all bringing ideas to our rehearsals" – says Igor. – "Even Titus, previously responsible only for the arrangements and production, brought his ideas for tracks. This way the album will be pretty diverse and more melodic." Including a ballad in the tracklist will be another novelty on "Fire Follow Me".
 
At the very beginning, Tomek and Igor were supposed to record one studio track only and a video-clip for that same track. The results of their work at rehearsals were so good that they decided to form a band - Anti Tank Nun! The band's line-up was soon completed by Adam Bielczuk (guitar) and Bogumił Krakowski (drums). Igor is a pupil of the well know Polish musician Jarek Chilkiewicz (Bracia, My Riot) and from the beginning of his education he was showing incredible talent. There was no one on the Polish music scene who at the age of 14 could play guitar so well. He is able to play his own solo parts but also those of Zakk Wylde, Dimebag Darrel, Randy Rhoads or Glenn Tipton! Anti Tank Nun's debut album entitled "Hang'em High" contained a perfect blend of heavy metal sounds with melodic riffs. The charismatic bass player Titus shows off his new face and, together with the young but talented guitarist, these two musicians make for an incredibly energetic duo.

Doogie White & La Paz reveal cover artwork and tracklist of the new album

British band Doogie White & La Paz return with a brand new release. The sophomore album entitled "The Dark and The Light" is set to be released on May, 27th in Europe and June, 4th in USA. 
Scottish vocalist Doogie White came to the attention of the worldwide audience when Ritchie Blackmore asked him to be the lead singer in his reformed Rainbow. They recorded one album together - "Stranger in Us All." Doogie would go on to sing with Swedish neo-classical guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen for over a six and a half year period, record two albums and tour the world. He also recorded four albums and toured with Cornerstone and is currently the lead singer of the legendary N.W.O.B.H.M. band - Tank.
And today Doogie White & La Paz revealed the cover artwork and tracklist of "The Dark and The Light".

The work on the new album have now been finished - the drums and most of the bass guitar parts were recorded in Gorbals Sound in Glasgow. The guitars, additional bass parts and keyboards were recorded at The Farm owned by Chic McSherry, while the vocals will be recorded at Kinman Studio in London. Mixing was done again by Rolf Munkes at Empire Studios in Germany.
La Paz were formed in Lanarkshire, Scotland in the summer of 1984 by Chic McSherry (guitars), Doogie White (vocals) and Alex Carmichael (bass). At the first rehearsal together they hit it off immediately on a personal level - they also liked the same music and they had the same influences and heroes (Purple, Rainbow, Journey, Gary Moore) so they started to recruit other members to try to form a band and go do some gigs. Andy Mason (keyboards) joined the trio and he fitted in from the start, even though he was still at school when he joined. Drummers were always a problem and, over the life of the band, La Paz went through almost as many as Spinal Tap. Unquestionably the loudest and the most accomplished was/is their current drummer, Paul McManus. La Paz played live regularly, sometimes playing up to a hundred gigs in a year. They played the world-famous Marquee Club in London as well as at some festivals in Milton Keynes and they were featured regularly in Kerrang! (Derek Oliver becoming a big fan of the band) and attracted interest from a number of UK and US record companies, finally agreeing terms with one of them for a three album deal. But it was not to be - for reasons which were never explained by the record label the deal fell through at the very last minute. Sadly the band didn't survive for very long after that. They did their last gig on 15th October 1988 and then Doogie moved to London to join Midnite Blue, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, Cornerstone, Yngwie Malmsteen and now the mighty Tank. And then legendary DJ Tom Russell of 96.3 Rock Radio called Doogie and asked him if he would do some acoustic numbers at The Garage in Glasgow for Rock Radio's Birthday Bash in January 2008. Doogie agreed and asked Chic to play guitar. It was a big ask after 20 years: almost 1000 people, Doogie singing alone and Chic with one flamenco guitar! "We had such a blast though and it woke up so many great memories in both of us that we decided to give it a go with the full band for my 50th birthday" said Chic. And so the full band started to rehearse and it was clear that they could still play a bit. The band just gelled: just like old times and the gigs were a terrific success. And so the idea of re-recording some of the favourites from the set that had never had a proper production job was conceived. The final result could be heard on the album "Granite" released in early 2012. It was an album with its roots in the past but its energy in the present. And now the band return with their sophomore album entitled "The Dark and The Light".

Guitar Player magazine describes Johnson as "one of the most respected guitarists on the planet." His platinum-selling 1990 recording AhVia Musicom produced the single Cliffs of Dover, for which he won the 1991 Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance. In 1996 he teamed up with Joe Satriani and Steve Vai for the original G3 tour that garnered a worldwide audience with the platinum selling CD/DVD. Johnson plays Fender Stratocasters and Gibson ES-335 electric guitars through a triple amp setup, consisting of vintage Fender and Marshallamplifiers.

Coming on the heels of perhaps the most important year in progressive rock, DSOTM would go on to spend a record 741 weeks on the Billboard Top 200 chart between 1973-1988, selling an estimated 45 million records worldwide and turning Pink Floyd into global superstars. Roger Waters recalls to InTheStudio host Redbeard the original meeting in Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason's kitchen in which Waters laid out the concept for DSOTM. 

"My idea for what the record should be about...(was)... our lives could really be seen as a microcosm of the lives of Every Man, all the different things, like fear and love and hope and anxiety and hatred and pain and religion and authority, that impinged upon our lives at the time and had done throughout our childhoods. Lucid Fly just released a brand new music video.



Lucid Fly just released a brand new music video for their track 'Means to an End' from the EP titled "The Escape Stage." 




Loyal fans describe their music as "epic", "dark", or "post-industrial", "heavy rock with strong and at the same time vulnerable vocals"; some say their sound is "like Evanescence meets A Perfect Circle" … 

Lucid Fly founders Nikki Layne and Doug Mecca joined forces in Orlando, Florida in 2001. On the hunt for the perfect name, a friend stumbled over an old newspaper with a headline that read "Lucid Flies Into The Record Book", featuring an article on astronaut Shannon Lucid, who had broken the record for the longest duration in space by an American, as well as by a female. From that headline, Lucid Fly was born. The band exploded onto the Orlando music scene and quickly gained a large and devoted following. 2005 saw the release of their debut EP, Adapting To Gravity. 

After playing venues all over Florida for a couple of years, singer Nikki and guitarist Doug saw it was time to head out to California to win over the West Coast. In L.A., they teamed up with drummer Aaron Ficca, who has toured with acts like Macy Gray, and bassist Go Nakabayashi, who quit a successful, signed band in Japan to pursue his dream of making it in the US. In 2009, the band released a second EP titled "The Escape Stage" which has received stellar feedback and has also continued to grab audiences attention and widen their fan base. 

Lucid Fly has spent the last few months working on new material for their upcoming full length album. Their songwriting is stronger than ever, and the band is excited to head into the studio to record in the Winter/Spring2013. 

The word is spreading, and their mission has only begun...stay tuned!!

COMEDY OF ERRORS - "Fanfare & Fantasy"
COMEDY OF ERRORS formed nebulously in the wake of the neo prog revival, members coming from in and around the Glasgow area,Scotland. Not the most typical band of the prog scene at that time, their individual version of that genre did find a welcome among fans who were as fiercely loyal as their numbers were small. Dissatisfied with prevailing tastes of the times,the band became as bored with stupid simplicity as much as with contrived cleverness. Putting musical integrity ahead of commercial success, they would, at the time, still have sold their granny for a record deal. Various line up changes followed as did the music in different guises in a desperate attempt to be loved. Despite manfully gigging throughout Scotland,their appeal in true Tap tradition became,as they say, more 'selective'. 'Don't alienate the public' they were advised......'Yeah,otherwise we'd end up like Dimitri in La Condition Humaine' clearly casting aside the fondness for obscure literary references,courtesy of Mr Steve Martin.

ScienceNV - “Titan” new album and a digital single

Release Date: March 26, 2013 "Titan" is from the forthcoming full album from ScienceNV entitled "Last Album Before the End of Time"



With their musical heart and homebase in San Francisco, California, ScienceNV was formed in 2005.The name is quite a telling one. For starters all four members of the group work in the sciences. Steven Wilson Confirms UK October Shows - Dates Include Royal Albert Hall in London


New album The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Stories) now available.

Steven Wilson has announced additional UK headline dates for October 2013, following his hugely successful European tour which finishes this week.

After his recent Royal Festival Hall performance in London, Classic Rock declared, "musically majestic, loud but limber, Wilson and his band are currently killing it." Terrorizer referred to the "very special performance" as "heaven".

Leafblade - The Kiss of Spirit and Flesh


New album on Kscope from Daniel Cavanagh & Daniel Cardosa (Anathema) with Sean Jude and Kevin Murphy.

Kscope are pleased to announce the release of the new album, The Kiss of Spirit and Flesh by latest signings Leafblade.

Leafblade was formed in 2003 by Sean Jude, Kevin Murphy and Daniel Cavanagh of Anathema. Their powerful, yet subtle, blend of acoustic refrains, poetry and emotive vocals has been described as 'nature-mystical'.

Sean and Kevin have played and composed together since the early 1990s when they were both in the acclaimed progressive band, Valle Crucis. Valle Crucis were contemporaries of Anathema on the Liverpool music scene and Daniel was a long time admirer of Sean's song writing style. The union of Leafblade offered all three the chance to explore new sonic possibilities and created not just a musical collaboration but also the start of many journeys; geographical, spiritual and creative.
Leafblade have previously released one album, 2006's Beyond, Beyond. They are joined on The Kiss of Spirit and Flesh by Dan's Anathema bandmate, Daniel Cardosa who plays drums.

Produced by Cavanagh, The Kiss of Spirit and Flesh steps up the dynamics from Beyond, Beyond, with powerful anthemic refrains, uplifting orchestration and leaden guitar-work as well as the idiosyncratic lute-like nylon strings and multi-range vocals. By turns haunting, troubadour, far-reaching, articulate, The Kiss of Spirit and Flesh is washed through with lush symphonic weaving and percussion.

Dan feels that the album has found a natural home at Kscope, the label that he has worked with extensively over the past few years, 'the writing is absolutely top class and the progressive nature of the music makes it very much part of Kscope's orbit'.

Nosound – Afterthoughts


The new album from Nosound featuring Chris Maitland (Porcupine Tree, Kino) – now available to pre-order

Nosound return in May with their new studio album, Afterthoughts. For the album Giancarlo Erra and the band have been joined by the former Porcupine Tree and Blackfield drummer, Chris Maitland.

Afterthoughts is the Nosound's fourth studio album, their first since 2009's A Sense Of Loss. That album was described by Goldmine as 'Nosound's most accomplished recording' (4/5) and Prog magazine stated that 'the expression of their loss is indubitably our substantial gain'. Since then Nosound have also released the 2011 semi-acoustic album, The Northern Religion Of Things and the recent EP, At The Pier, as well as playing regular live dates around Europe.

Giancarlo has been writing material for Afterthoughts over the past two years but a series line up changes in late 2012 have shaped the way in which the record has evolved. Firstly Chris agreed to join the band and shortly after this Marianne De Chastelaine came on board to add cello parts to the album. Following this Marco Berni (keyboards) and Giulio Caneponi (drums) were also welcomed as full time members of the band joining Paolo Vigliarolo (guitars) and Alessandro Luci (bass).

Giancarlo has talked about the sense of enthusiasm these changes brought and the effect it had on the album;'when we met for the second phase of the writing process, when we selected and arranged the material, it involved a total and immediate agreement within all of us, we immediately felt we were doing the right thing'.

Maitland also appeared on At The Pier and his powerful and inventive drumming has added a new dimension to the Nosound dynamic which is sure to impress fans, new and old. Giancarlo has stated that, 'in some way I feel this album is more 'direct' and powerful, and this is naturally reflected in both music and lyrics.'

Afterthoughts is available to pre-order from the Kscope store as a double LP and as a 2disc set featuring the stereo mix of the album on CD plus a DVD-A / DVD-V with 5.1 surround high resolution 24bit / 96kHz mixes.
