FURYU - OPEN MINDED PROGRESSIVE - ALBUM

"Ciň che l'anima non dice" it's the first full length of Furyu.

The project was born in Bologna in 2000 by the meeting between Zappoli Michele (bass) and Matteo Migliori (guitar / vocals). Then the guitarists Giulio Capitelli and Federico Melandri join the band leading to most innovative and experimental musical ideas. With this line up the young band begins to record the first demos also playing live in the city's clubs. The project permanently stars, after several members changes and musical styles, in mid-2009 when the drummer Riccardo Grechi (Lacerater, Cruel Face of Life) and the sampler Damiano Storelli (Dim Arcana) joins the band. So it starts the writing and production of their first full length.
The proposed experimental progressive is lacking any sort of preconceived idea based on a defined and precise musical genre, the work of art in question is, precisely, difficult to categorize in any metal/rock context. However, the band aims to create sounds never tiring, catchy and with a good dose of technique without the risk of being boring. This was possible thanks to the different experiences and musical tastes of the band members, certainly one of the strengths of the quintet.

The album concept is based mainly on moods and human emotions. The synthetic phrases that characterize each title and song lyrics are intended to narrate the experiences of the protagonist in his own journey. Currently FURYU are ready to record in the Italian famous Fear Studio to complete their work. The idea is to create a professional product that will be taken all around the world and to make several live in Italy and Europe.
The term "FURYU", which in modern Japanese means "elegant", was used in the poems of the late Heian period (Japan, 795-1185) to represent an aristocratic and nostalgic vision of life; literally means "flowing wind and water".

You can find the english version of the lyrics in the booklet of our cd.

Voodoo Highway is one of the most exciting band of the Italian rock, hard rock and metal scenario. The band is considered by the most as a true revelation and by the audiences as an extremely enjoyable and stimulating experience, with their irreverent and circus like live shows and the great relationship that the band is able to establish with the fans.

Voodoo Highway started their journey in late spring 2010 and then immediately recorded their first EP "This Is Rock n' Roll, Cocks!" which has sold over 1000 copies all around Italy and attracted the attention of important names of music history such as Craig Gruber (formerly ELF, Rainbow, Black Sabbath and Gary Moore) who spoke about the band: "The new movement of Heavy Metal has arrived! This band is the next Deep Purple!".

After a year gigging the band has recorded its first LP called "Broken Uncle's Inn": a concentrate of the best '70 hard rock that meets commercial and very easy listening melodies.

The first reactions from the music press and from the audience are exciting ("Voodoo Highway are the best thing to come out of Italy since Super Mario"  - Classic Rock Channel - ) and the band is actually touring, always getting a full house at every show.

Some foreign gigs are expected for the band during Autumn 2011 in UK and Denmark. The highway of Voodoo seems to be long and filled with rock n' roll.

Philip Sayce: "Ruby Electric" new album and UK tour

Monday July 11th sees the release of "Ruby Electric" - Philip Sayce's latest album on Provogue Records.  The album showcases previously unreleased studio and live tracks, and includes the single "Let The Love In" featuring a duet with Melissa Etheridge.

The album coincides with a short UK tour in July that includes London Borderline (July 25), Bristol Tunnels (July 26), Holmfirth Picturedrome (July 27) and Manchester Band on the Wall (July 28).  24 Hour Ticket Hotline: 0871 230 1101 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              0871 230 1101      end_of_the_skype_highlighting.  Book Online from www.seetickets.com and www.thegigcartel.com.

"Ruby Electric" includes a collection of songs divided into two different volumes.  The songs were recorded with Sayce's favourite musicians and friends.  Currently #2 in Amazon UK's official Blues pre-sale album chart, "Ruby Electric" features Kenny Aronoff (drums), Joel Gottschalk (bass), Fritz Lewak (drums), and Fred Mandel (piano, organ).

Volume 1, recorded at Sunset Sound and Lion's Share, Hollywood, was produced by Dave Cobb and mixed by Mark Rains.  The songs were recorded live using a collection of vintage equipment and instruments, complemented by Cobb's signature recording and production techniques.  Volume 2, recorded on tour in France, Germany, and Holland in 2010, was mixed by the legendary recording engineer Eddie Kramer (Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin) in April 2011.

"I'd been looking for the right circumstances to release all of these songs," says Sayce.  "The studio tracks on Volume 1 remained unavailable internationally.  We remixed and re-mastered the tracks, picked some alternate takes, and included a live version of "Daydream Tonight" (the latter originally appeared on Sayce's 2010 album "Innerevolution").  As soon as we paired the songs up with the recent live recordings from last year's European tour, the album became Ruby Electric."

Phil Soussan famously known for writing Ozzy's "Shot In the Dark", releases his brand new solo album entitled "No Protection"

Singer/Songwriter Phil Soussan, famously known for writing Ozzy's "Shot In the Dark", releases his brand new solo album entitled "No Protection" as a follow up to "Vibrate", his first critically acclaimed album.

Phil has played with the likes of rock legends such as Ozzy Osbourne, Vince Neil, Billy Idol, Steve Lukather, Richie Kotzen and with an early version of "The Firm", formed by legendary Led Zeppelin guitar player Jimmy Page.

"No Protection" is the culmination of 3 years' work, recording, producing and mixing a collection of 13 songs that were all written over a period of about a year. The songs are a reflection of the idea that in life, time waits for no one. "What is unique about this album is that I felt the inspiration to record an album on which I play virtually all of the instruments and perform all of the vocals." Phil said. "I had always wanted to play all the instruments on a record, ever since I saw McCartney do just that; it was a very tough and tricky thing to do but I have become a better musician for it! I am very proud of this CD"

Stylistically it varies from hard edged pop rock to acoustic guitar storyteller ballad, really focused in songwriting, the songs perhaps more connected than "Vibrate"; that album having been more of a compilation of songs from across several eras. Some comparisons have been made to Tom Petty and John Mayer, to the Beatles and even a bit of U2.

Outside of the immediate music scene, Phil wanted to get more involved in his industry's representation and put himself up for election to the Grammys as a Board Member. Phil became Chairman of the Advocacy committee, traveling frequently to Capitol Hill to lobby Congress on many issues, and in 2011 he was elected to the prestigious position of Vice President of the Grammys, a position that he still holds.

Uganga to release live album recorded in Europe

In September last year, UGANGA completed its first European tour. The band played 18 shows in seven countries: Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Poland, Czech Republic, Portugal and Spain.

Absolute success, the tour will now perpetuate on the band's discography with the release of a live album recorded during the European trip.

According to the vocalist Manu Joker (ex-Sarcofago), several shows of the tour were recorded and at the moment the band works on the audio files before they define tracklist and other details.
"The recepetion for UGANGA in Europe was awesome", recalls. "We had the opportunity to play very different shows, from festivals to small pubs. We're working on different audio options to be able to transmit with fidelity the atmosphere of the tour. This release will be special since it's our first live album and because it registers the most important moment of our 17 years career".

Still untitled, the album will be released in Europe on the second semester by Metal Soldiers Records from Portugal. In Brazil, the band is still on negotiation with record labels.

Among other news, UGANGA was confirmed to play at the 13th edition of Roça 'N' Roll, one of the major Brazilian metal/rock festivals. This year the festival happens in three days (June 23th, 24th and 25th) at Fazenda Estrela, a big farm in the city of Varginha, Minas Gerais state.
UGANGA will play on the saturday, June 25th and will share the stage with Cathedral (UK), Andre Matos (Angra/Shaman), Dr. Sin, Imago Mortis, Genocidio, Tuatha De Dannan, Claustrofobia, and other important names from the Brazilian metal/rock scene.

MOONCAKE - Zaris / Cast The Route (EP)

We have re-issued Mooncake's all works this month. We have also released their latest EP.

Zaris / Cast The Route is the newest Mooncake's 4 songs' EP that contains recordings from band's self-releases – Zaris (2010) and Cast The Route (2009) (never released on a label or distributed before) - and draws the musical contour of the band's upcoming second album.

Mooncake is sometimes compared to Pink Floyd or Mogwai but the band has made a name for itself having developed its own style and became quiet popular among connoisseurs of genre both home and abroad. Catchy melodies, atmosphere, the ideal balance between rapture and grief: all this has always been Mooncake's distinctive feature.

KRAPP - A Void On A Cradle

Krapp's debut "A Void On A Cradle" is a twelve pieces collection turns around poetry in English and in French that swings between surrealistic tales and non-sense joke.

Krapp is an interesting band from France. Imagine your kitchen plenty of ingredients, but all recipes you've tried are boring and you want to taste something new. Krapp's songs are results of this culinary-chemical experimentation. You can hear bits and pieces reminding jazz, rock, electro, pop, classical music. But the idea was not to fit in a category, but to explore, to experiment with sounds and create an original musical universe.Krapp enjoys using non binary rhythms and dissonant melodies. Drums are replaced by the chirping of crickets, or the crack of opening a can of coke. There is no limit in this sense in the music of Krapp. Lyrics can remind surrealist modern tales or non-sense jokes. All is fine as long as the word suits the music and evokes different meanings and feelings.

Annie Haslam Joins 'Music Saves • Benefit for Japan'

What started off as a request for for me to record a video message in support of Japanese earthquake victims and a special benefit concert at The Bottom Line in Nagoya Japan, has turned into my actually going there to perform!

A few weeks after the earthquake there was a photo that came up on my computer 'news' page of a 75 yr old farmer, Kunio Shiga, stranded and alone, sitting amongst the debris of his home four weeks after the deadly Tsunami had ripped through his village Minami Soma, and his homeland. It made me cry like so many of the devastating images I had seen every day, but for some reason this image stayed with me. I remember the headline well: 'Stranded and Alone'.

Then shortly after, I was approached by Kink Kume, a LONG TIME friend who was organizing a benefit show in Nagoya to raise funds for the Japanese people affected by this terrible disaster! My mind immediately went back to when Renaissance performed in Japan last August, and as always, we were greeted so warmly by our Japanese fans.

This is a perfect opportunity to give something of myself for no other reason than to give my time and support in song and art. So, I am looking forward to this very special week in my life that I know will be memorable in many ways… I will be singing accompanied by Japanese musicians and am also taking some paintings to auction. The show is 'Music Saves' Benefit for Japan', June 19th 2011. It will be 'streamed' online at Ustream at:

2:00pm – 9:30pm Japan time, June 19th 2011
1:00am – 8:30am EDST, USA on June 19th 2011

If time differences allow, please tune in.

Dream Theater Announce New Album/Release Date

Progressive titans Dream Theater have announced the title/release date of their new album. Check out the press release!

(New York, NY): The recent announcement that Mike Mangini would be joining Dream Theater, replacing departed drummer Mike Portnoy caused such fanfare that  Mangini was a trending topic on Twitter, second only to England's Royal Wedding. Now, the band is revealing more information about their upcoming album. The new album is titled A Dramatic Turn of Events. The much-anticipated platter, which marks Mangini's recorded debut, will be released via Roadrunner Records on September 13th and will be supported by a massive world tour.

"I'm incredibly psyched with the way this album came out and can't wait to share it with everybody," guitarist John Petrucci, who also serves as the producer for A Dramatic Turn of Events, said. "We are currently in the mix stage with the great Andy Wallace and it's all sounding amazing!"

"We have poured our hearts and minds into the creation of this album," keyboardist Jordan Rudess offered. "All the life changing events that surrounded us before,  as well as during the whole process, fueled our desire to dig deep within ourselves and create the best music we possibly could."

Vocalist James LaBrie said, "In the grand scheme of Dream Theater's career, the last several months have been such an incredibly positive, fulfilling and rewarding experience. The new songs and sound has never been so spirited or rejuvenating. I cannot wait for every one of our fans to sink their audio senses into this batch of tunes."

The track listing for A Dramatic Turn of Events is as follows:

1. On the Backs of Angels
2. Build Me Up, Break Me Down
3. Lost Not Forgotten
4. This is the Life
5. The Shaman's Trance
6. Outcry
7. Far From Heaven
8. Breaking All Illusions
9. Beneath The Surface

DREAM THEATER:
Progressive metal band Dream Theater formed in 1985 under the name Majesty by John Petrucci, John Myung and Mike Portnoy. Though a number of lineup changes followed, the three original members remained together along with James LaBrie and Jordan Rudess until September 8, 2010, when Mike Portnoy left the band. In October 2010, the band held auditions for a new drummer, and added Mike Mangini to its roster.

Dream Theater's tenth studio album, Black Clouds & Silver Linings (Roadrunner Records), was released on June 23, 2009. It entered the U.S. Billboard 200 at #6 and Eurochart Hot 100 at #1, marking their highest entry on either chart. Black Clouds & Silver Linings - a highlight of their 25-year career - was praised by Mojo magazine's Paul Elliott: "…their lofty ideals remain intact. By modern criteria, Black Clouds & Silver Linings is as highbrow as The Mars Volta, as grandiose as Muse and as heavy as Metallica."

The legendary progressive metal masters have sold in excess of 10,000,000 records and DVDs worldwide.

AKIN IS SIGNED TO PROGROCK RECORDS AND RELEASE "THE WAY THINGS END"

"The way things end" is an hour plus, 15 track adventure, mixing progressive rock, metal, pop music and a bit of jazz. A string quartet from the Conservatoire National de Musique et de Danse de Lyon performs on it along with a classical flute, percussion and some other exotic instruments, such as the dilruba. The result is, as recently noted by an English reviewer, "a work of harmonious contrasts, (...) a jazzy liveliness but with a melancholy gothic underbelly; delicate subtlety and driving power; catchy and melodic but with technical musicianship; adventurous, fascinating and absorbing but oh so easy to listen to; acoustic and electronic instrumentation; simplicity and sophistication; light and dark."

The band had this to say: "We are so pleased that our music has travelled across to America, home of Rock culture. With the help of ProgRock Records, we hope to bring a French touch to the ears of progressive rock and metal lovers. It's a new chapter in the life of AKIN. ".

"When the band approached me with 'female fronted French band with string quartet', I really
couldn't imagine what it would sound like, but WOW, I only needed to listen once to know I
wanted to work with them.", said Shawn Gordon, President of ProgRock Records.

"The way things end" is the first release from AKIN and is available for immediate ordering at a
$2 discount till mid-June 2011 and will be shipped in mid-June, audio samples, information
and ordering can be found at http://www.progrockrecords.com/artists/view.php?id=155

ACELSIA - entering a new era

Having already cut their teeth with a run of three short releases, the most recent being the well-received "Quietude", ACELSIA are getting ready to move forward and have a lot of plans starting to take shape.

First they are about to audition for new band members and then the excitement will really begin - the studio is booked and writing will start soon. A single is pencilled in first before the band will get working on their full debut album.

"The production and instrumentation is flawless, so is the song writing"
- Beat The Blizzard

Having already been reviewed favourably across Europe for their previous material, ACELSIA will be pulling out all the stops to really deliver an album of what they have become famous for - a subtle blend of melodic, symphonic and progressive rock and metal that has sensible variety and delivers throughout. This isn't the same tired formula - this is something new to explore.

"We have a band here that look set to contribute some awesome music in the future"  - Ravenheart

As the year progresses there will be more news from ACELSIA. Lots of news. Updates will appear on Facebook, twitter and across all quality news outlets for rock and metal.

The Norwegian band ACELSIA creates a full range of melodic hard rock music. Sometimes quiet and mellow, sometimes heavy and noisy - the band is recognised by soothing melodies, melancholy moods and Malene's emotional voice.

ACELSIA started as a solo project called "View" in the Summer of 2006. Vocalist Malene wanted to record some of her songs so got Nils and some other friends to help her out in the studio. Happy with the result, Malene decided to take the project further and form a permanent band. Auditions were held in the following months. The first line-up was complete when Marius and Håkon joined at the start of 2007. At this point the band changed its name to ACELSIA – inspired by the flower Celsia, symbolizing immortality. They recorded "Demo 2007" soon after – a straightforward affair in a more alternative rock style. After some time with no permanent second guitarist, the band got its  line-up when Odd Henning joined the band in the fall of 2007.

With the new line-up Acelsia took a new musical direction. As shown on "Demo 2008", the band found themselves steadily moving towards a heavier aggressive sound, focusing on dynamic feeling and melody. The music contained more contrasts and emotion, shifting between extremes, from the soft and sweet to brutal and heavy, yet always with a strong melody at the center.

Extensive gigging has earned the band a reputation for being a rock solid and engaging live act. In the Winter of 2009, Acelsia was nominated for the music magazine Musikk Praksis' "MP Award".

ACELSIA's recent musical development has seen them transcending the boundaries of several heavy rock and metal genres, taking influence from any kind of music that seems fit. Their latest recordings deliver songs that range from heavy and dramatic to spacey and pensive. The lyrics speak of yearnings, contemplations and complications – intimate and personal explorations of life. This is all woven into compositions that take on everything from pop to different types of metal. ACELSIA set out to write music that captures their heart and imagination, not necessarily songs that fit a typical genre or format.

Now ACELSIA are ready to move forward into a new era and towards their full album debut.  Prior to that it is planned to record a single to show off the soon to be completed full line-up.  Exciting times are ahead.

Singer Geoff Tate talked to Rock Radio about the musical direction of Dedicated To Chaos: "It's kind of like an 'Empire' record set 25 years in the future. [Laughs] It's a very listenable record, I think. I think people will find it interesting to listen to on headphones, especially. There's a lot going on with it. And there's definitely an emphasis on the rhythm section. Eddie [bass] and Scott [drums] have written a lot of the songs on this particular record, so it really showcases what they do, which is something very special."

He continued, "This record is definitely a boundary-pusher in a lot of respects, I think. It's always difficult to describe music; it's better to experience it. So I'll let people hear it and make up their own minds."
