ACELSIA - entering a new era

Having already cut their teeth with a run of three short releases, the most recent being the well-received "Quietude", ACELSIA are getting ready to move forward and have a lot of plans starting to take shape.

First they are about to audition for new band members and then the excitement will really begin - the studio is booked and writing will start soon. A single is pencilled in first before the band will get working on their full debut album.

"The production and instrumentation is flawless, so is the song writing"
- Beat The Blizzard

Having already been reviewed favourably across Europe for their previous material, ACELSIA will be pulling out all the stops to really deliver an album of what they have become famous for - a subtle blend of melodic, symphonic and progressive rock and metal that has sensible variety and delivers throughout. This isn't the same tired formula - this is something new to explore.

"We have a band here that look set to contribute some awesome music in the future"  - Ravenheart

As the year progresses there will be more news from ACELSIA. Lots of news. Updates will appear on Facebook, twitter and across all quality news outlets for rock and metal.

The Norwegian band ACELSIA creates a full range of melodic hard rock music. Sometimes quiet and mellow, sometimes heavy and noisy - the band is recognised by soothing melodies, melancholy moods and Malene's emotional voice.

ACELSIA started as a solo project called "View" in the Summer of 2006. Vocalist Malene wanted to record some of her songs so got Nils and some other friends to help her out in the studio. Happy with the result, Malene decided to take the project further and form a permanent band. Auditions were held in the following months. The first line-up was complete when Marius and Håkon joined at the start of 2007. At this point the band changed its name to ACELSIA – inspired by the flower Celsia, symbolizing immortality. They recorded "Demo 2007" soon after – a straightforward affair in a more alternative rock style. After some time with no permanent second guitarist, the band got its  line-up when Odd Henning joined the band in the fall of 2007.

With the new line-up Acelsia took a new musical direction. As shown on "Demo 2008", the band found themselves steadily moving towards a heavier aggressive sound, focusing on dynamic feeling and melody. The music contained more contrasts and emotion, shifting between extremes, from the soft and sweet to brutal and heavy, yet always with a strong melody at the center.

Extensive gigging has earned the band a reputation for being a rock solid and engaging live act. In the Winter of 2009, Acelsia was nominated for the music magazine Musikk Praksis' "MP Award".

ACELSIA's recent musical development has seen them transcending the boundaries of several heavy rock and metal genres, taking influence from any kind of music that seems fit. Their latest recordings deliver songs that range from heavy and dramatic to spacey and pensive. The lyrics speak of yearnings, contemplations and complications – intimate and personal explorations of life. This is all woven into compositions that take on everything from pop to different types of metal. ACELSIA set out to write music that captures their heart and imagination, not necessarily songs that fit a typical genre or format.

Now ACELSIA are ready to move forward into a new era and towards their full album debut.  Prior to that it is planned to record a single to show off the soon to be completed full line-up.  Exciting times are ahead.
