Elvis Deluxe - check the first promo track // download link for radio DJ's

The pioneers of Polish stoner rock scene, Elvis Deluxe, return in a big style! The band celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and is just about to release a brand new album entitled "The Story So Far”. It’s their third studio release but the first one released by Metal Mind Productions. The release date is scheduled for April, 22nd in Europe and June, 4th in USA (via MVD).
And today you can listen to the first track promoting the album. “No Reason” is available on Metal Mind Production’s official channel on YouTube in THIS location.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the moment when four good friends and long-time punk/rock/HC scene musicians started their journey to explore the 60's inspired stoner rock. They called themselves Elvis Deluxe and after a few years of playing gigs they managed to record the highly acclaimed full-length debut album “Lazy” (2007). Soon, it was followed by the equally well received “Favourite State of Mind” album (2011). In the summer of 2012, the band recorded their third studio material entitled “The Story So Far”, which continues their in-your-face rock tactics. The new album features 10 tracks - 3 older, never officially published songs that will take you 10 years back, and 5 new ones, which will shed some light on the new, slightly different face of Elvis Deluxe. Some songs grow from complete silence to heavy noise, others explore improvisation possibilities usually distinctive of live recordings, but „The Story So Far” also has a couple of straightforward, catchy tunes. This album summarizes 10 years of the band's history so check it out!

The band comment: “It’s not just about how the songs were written, but also how they were recorded. The way we write our songs is as average as it usually gets – one of us brings a riff or two, then we process it during rehearsals into a consistent whole with vocals, arrangements etc. However, the way we recorded “The Story...” is completely new for us. First of all, unlike the other two albums, this one was not recorded in Warsaw. We worked at Maq Studio in Wojkowice, courtesy of our friend Grin. This meant that we were completely cut off from the outside world which we only experienced through the nearby supermarket. Secondly, live recording opened up for us a whole new world of improvisation possibilities and influenced the overall spontaneous vibe. So, the album is more laid back than “Lazy” and at times more experimental than “Favourite State Of Mind”. You will find here songs that grow slowly from minimalist sounds to all-out noise, but also some that immediately hit you with full force. Long improvisations and catchy tunes. Plus three never officially published numbers from Elvis’ first rehearsals and gigs, as well as from the “Lazy” album era."

Elvis Deluxe – line-up:
Wojciech "Ziemba" Ziemba – bass guitar, vocals
Mikołaj "Miko" Malanowski – drums
Tomasz "Bolek" Sierajewski – guitar
Wojciech "Bert Trust" Trusewicz – guitar

VINDICTIV - Cage Of Infinity - Specials: Featuring members of Therion, Treat, Zan Clan and Last Autumn's Dream!

Every brilliant musician feels the need to push boundaries further: to progress and to find new challenges and outlets for his or her talents. Swedish guitarist Stefan Lindholm has now reached that defining moment in his career. As the founder and musical backbone of Vindictiv, he is responsible for some of the most exquisite examples of contemporary neoclassical metal.

However, the Gothenburgian constellation's newest effort "Cage of Infinity" marks a certain departure from the progressive leanings of their two previous albums, "Vindictiv" (2008 ESM164) and "Ground Zero" (2009 ESM190). This time round Vindictiv have challenged themselves to get their point across not through complexity, but through forthrightness.

"I'm no longer the same person as I used to be" says Stefan "so now I am going for a simpler approach and it's more in your face". Stefan also explains "Cage of Infinity definitely contains a lot of immediate hooks and choruses. At the same time, I think it just may be more metallic than previously. Possibly a tad Judas Priest-ish, but I'll leave that for the listener to decide!!!"

AYREON reveals new album title

It's been quiet in the AYREON camp for the past couple of months, but Arjen Lucassen has broken his silence to reveal that the title of the eagerly anticipated forthcoming new album will be The Theory Of Everything, and that it will be a double album! Aiming for a tentative release at the end of this year, Arjen had this to say about the album's progress:

"I've finished recording demos of the music, and am now about halfway finished with the lyrics. It's going to be a double album, so there is a lot to write! It's extra challenging as well, because lyrically I've left the old AYREON universe behind and have to create a new one from scratch. I'm really excited about the line-up and how everything is PROGressing so far."

Watch out for more information on the forthcoming new AYREON album later in the year!

Dream Theater vs. Metallica - Championship Round!

Dream Theater vs Metallica - Championship Round

Dream Theater has made it to the championship round of Loudwire's March Metal Madness competition.

In a surprise that almost no one saw coming, prog masters Dream Theater and their album 'Images and Words' tore through competitors in each round, ultimately landing in our March Metal Madness 2013 Championship Round. 'Images and Words' claimed victories over Dio's 'Holy Diver,' 'AC/DC's 'Back in Black,' Judas Priest's 'Screaming For Vengeance' on its way to an epic semifinal win over Megadeth's 'Rust in Peace.' We know Dream Theater fans are true fanatics, but this final round will be the band's most difficult to date.

GIUNTINI PROJECT IV - Featuring Tony Martin (ex Black Sabbath) on vocals!

Italian guitar wizard Aldo Giuntini is back for the release of his brand new GIUNTINI PROJECT "IV" album on May 24th 2013.

It has been six years but Aldo is now back with the fourth chapter of his Project. "My way of writing and producing the songs needs a lot of time", he says, "One could say I am a perfectionist, but when I have musical ideas for my guitar, I often have the other guys working with their own inputs: Also I need to have Tony Martin to work on the lyrics at the end, so this takes away a lot of time".

Aldo comments "Project IV continues the line of Project II, III, musically and I' m sure that who loved my 2nd, and 3rd work will appreciate the IV album in the same way and more, since the production work is "a lot improved" this time and produced by Dario Mollo (Mollo / Martin). The sound of Giuntini's work is a combination of "the warmth and the power of BLACK SABBATH "Headless Cross", "Tyre", Rainbow "Long Live Rock & Roll and Rising" and DIO "Holy Diver" with energetic sound of LOUDNESS, the Japanese metal heroes!", while Giuntini's guitar playing is mainly influenced by Akira Takasaki, Vivian Campbell, Edward Van Halen, Jake E. Lee, John Norum and, of course Malmsteen.

Aldo Pinelli new album Suite Italiana

The last Saturday April 6th was released in Treviso, Italy, the new cd ITALIAN SUITE in a concert with the italian band Magnetic Sound Machine.
Aldo Pinelli's trio has been playing since 1990.

Whilst on holidays with a group of friends in the Atlantic Coast of Buenos Aires, he played some classic guitar repertoire. They all agreed that his music was very beautiful. Their comments led him to the idea of playing live integrating keyboards and flute.
In May of that year, Pinelli performed his first concert and later again in May and September of 1991.

His music reflected the influence of the classical style acquired during his conservatory days, and also that of the Celtic, the ancient music and the impressionist period.
Ten years on, in 2001, Pinelli revived the project, seriously thinking about making a CD which included those same old songs. The process started slowly, but meanwhile he wrote some more arrangements for the other instruments.

Some changes of musicians took place and Pinelli established the new band formed totally with women.

Since 2002 concerts have been going on and clothes for the shows are carefully selected.

This time he included also a woman on percussion.

"Una Selección De Viejas Canciones: Montañas, Bosques Y Lagos" [A Selection Of Old Songs: Mountains, Woods And Lakes], his first independent production, was released in September 2007.

The second cd. "Mantos y Tapices Sobrepuestos: Otra Selección de Viejas Canciones" (Superposed Shrouds and Tapestries: Another Selection of Old Songs) was released in October 2009.

The third cd, "The Era of Melania: women, places and moments" was released in April 2011 with music composed by Aldo during pregnancy of this wife, silvia, hoping to Melania.

In November 2012 saw the light "Rainy Season", with music very different from the previous cds and, in April 2013, will be released in Italy, before Argentina, "Italian Suite", a new and different expeience.

PROGRESSIVE ROCK & PROGRESSIVE METAL - E- ZINE - Recommends

PROWLERS - "Prowlers Live"
Prowlers was an Italian prog rock band… this is a short story of our band and our music… thirteen magic year.... In 1985 Laura Mombrini (vocals), Gianni Radici (Guitars) and Roberto Biglioli (drums) met Fabio Dehò (bass) and Alfio Costa (Keyboards) and took the decision to play Great Music !….. Strange Music!…. with passion and fun! Prowlers were born! In the beginning the band was influenced by blues-rock, hard rock and the early Pink Floyd (Syd Barret era). In 1989, after many live concerts in northern Italy, Prowlers were well known and record their first demo with new drummer Giovanni "Giana" Vezzoli. After some years, with the new band members Stefano Piazzi (guitars) and Marco Premoli (bass) the band records, with an old Fostex eight tracks recorder, a demo tape called "Morgana". This was their first progressive and psychedelic work (just a demo tape….), but it will be released by the Italian label Mellow Records in 1994 as the first Prowlers' album. "Morgana" had a great success in the "new-progressive world" (but the quality of the recording isn't too good…) and sold out. In 1994 Flavio Costa (Alfio's younger brother) joined the band and with two guitarists, Prowlers recorded "Mother and Fairy" a double studio album, mixed by Ciro Perrino (Il Sistema, Celeste etc.), a great Italian musician. This second album was more "progressive" than "Morgana", with some long tracks full of keyboards and guitars duels, and Laura's voice, so beautiful that many people called her the "Italian Annie Haslam". Unfortunately, it being a double album, its price was too high, so it didn't have a great success. So Stefano Piazzi and Marco Premoli left the band. In 1995 Alan Ghirardelli, a young bass player and a friend of Flavio's, joined Prowlers. Alfio started to write a colossal rock suite about the story of the band. He was influenced by the Italian seventies progressive and especially by The Trip, Osanna, Goblin, Balletto di Bronzo and PFM. In 1995 Mellow records started to produce some tribute records to some great progressive names: Gentle Giant, VDGG, Camel.

HellHaven – Polish music band performing progressive rock and art rock.

HellHaven
HellHaven - Polish music band performing progressive rock and art rock. It was created in My'lenice in 2008 by Jakub W'grzyn and Marcin Jaskowiec.

Their music from first EP, Longplay and "Making of... " is available here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eq6rP9t2eNM&list=PLl7OiBPuui9zdfq_IYPR6v_jH-zbaadK5

History
HellHaven came into existence in My'lenice in order to bring to life original and unorthodox music.

At the beginning HellHaven was inspired by bands in heavy metal or hard rock genres. This period, for the band members, was a quest to find their own sound, an idea for future music and creation of a strong and solid group backbone.

The time from 2008 and 2009 was used to create their first work, but it was never officially published. In 2009 the band started to work on their first EP album. After 12 months of writing their own original music in 2010 the band, using their own financial expenses, created mini-album "Art for Art's Sake".

The record was a concept album which music could be described as a combination of progressive metal and heavy metal music styles. The 25 December 2010 is not only the official date of publishing the "Art for Art's Sake" record but also the day of HellHaven debut on the music stage.

The debut record was positively received both by critics and by fans. Thanks to the members' commitment in the band's activity, HellHaven music was often presented on polish radio stations. Thanks to that the group was able to reach the ears of many potential listeners.

The new sound, presented on their debut record, lead to the band's many successes, e.g. first place in polish music festival "Festiwal Muzyki Rozrywkowej w Opatowie" or participation in many smaller festivals. The record itself was chosen as a one out of twelve best debuts of February 2011 by MegaTotal.pl web page. The track "Stardust" was chosen as one out of five best tracks of February 2011 sent to the magazine "Estrada i Studio".

With the start of 2011 the band decided to start their work on a more complex music material for the second long play record. During that time the band signed a contract with German record label "Legacy-Records" which allowed them more creative and technical possibilities. In 2012, after 12 months of creating new music material, the band registered more than 50 minutes of music dubbed progressive rock/art rock in Lynx Music studio.

In October of 2012 premiere of a record single took place promoting long play record "Beyond the Frontier". Tracks which appeared on the record were "Paper Swan" and "About Reading and Writing".

Planned premiere of the album is set on December 2012.

Music influences
Band's musicians often adduce as a source of their music inspiration bands like King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Queen, System of a Down, Mike Oldfield or Iron Maiden yet they emphasise that the aim of the band is to create original music.

Interesting Details
In 2010 Jakub W'grzyn and Sebastian Najder established a music project on their own, called "The Majestic Two". The idea was to create music free from stylistic frames or technical barriers. The project is in a sense a "virtual creation" since the internet is the only source of distribution. At the moment there are three complex, in regard to their composition and musical tools, tracks and only two of those were officially presented on the internet. Because of the amount of work in the original formation, project "The Majestic Two" was suspended for the time being.

Name of the Band
The band's name was created from combination of two English words "Hell"[piek'o] and "Haven"[przysta']. This combination caused many problems for the band because of the mispronunciation. The word "Haven" is often mistaken for the word "Heaven"[niebo]. The name "HellHaven" may be translated into Polish as "Piekielna Przysta'".

BIGELF returns and signs new deal with InsideOut Music; Mike Portnoy to play drums on forthcoming new album

InsideOut Music is immensely pleased to announce the signing of progressive-rock powerhouse BIGELF for the release of their forthcoming new album later this year. Label-head Thomas Waber says about the signing: "We have been talking to BIGELF for quite some time now and I am really pleased that we finally managed to make this happen! BIGELF are an excellent addition to the InsideOut Music roster!"

It's been a few years since we've heard any activity from the BIGELF camp, so who better to explain to us what's been going on than the band's mastermind Damon Fox himself:

"Finally! BIGELF lands on a planet whose atmosphere is synonymous with progressive rock and heavy metal. One of my all-time favourite quotes is, 'Be bold and mighty forces will come to your aid...'

I'm ecstatic that InsideOut/Century Media and Mike Portnoy have joined 'forces' with BIGELF.

First, I want to elaborate on what has been happening 'inside' the band since 2010, there have been numerous rumours on the internet that I fired everyone in BIGELF, this is completely untrue.

After the juggernaut of 'Cheat The Gallows' came to a halt, the business and personal infrastructure of BIGELF imploded and an unexpected hiatus occurred leaving the band in complete disarray. A myriad of personal, financial and domestic matters had enveloped myself as well as certain members of the group. There also comes a time when deep down inside it just doesn't feel right anymore, and one has to face the music that the end is near. Transparency no longer exists and with that, clarity and perspective are lost. I'm speaking for myself now but clearly this was a mutual feeling and I believe it was obvious amongst the band. Subsequently, Ace Mark decided to move on and left BIGELF in the summer of 2011, and a request by the remaining members for a dissolution of business followed. To put it simply, we went our separate ways without malice.

I had been keeping in close touch with Mike Portnoy after his very public and difficult departure from DREAM THEATER. At this time, my musical future seemed quite bleak and I was very vocal to Mike about not being able to sustain the band any longer on my own. He implored me to carry on and to not let BIGELF slip away, his encouragement and enthusiasm meant the world to me. Recognizing that I needed some new allies, I asked him if he would help fight the good fight and lend his extraordinary drum majesty to the new BIGELF record and he readily agreed. Also...sharing a passion for all things rock & roll, my good friend Duffy Snowhill climbed aboard the Viking ship for another round of thundering bass guitar and for that too I am grateful.

I also want to acknowledge our amazing and dedicated fans that send emails all the time saying how they feel about BIGELF. These emails inspire me greatly and they're the reason that I continue to play this kind of music, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I can't wait for everyone to hear the new wondrous landscapes we've been sculpting, there are lots of surprises around the corner, stay tuned."

J.D. Overdrive reveal the title of their forthcoming album

The recordings of the J.D. Overdrive's sophomore studio album have been officially completed. This southern metal band from Poland plan to release the album in late May and today reveal its title – "Fortune Favors The Brave".

The mixing and mastering duties for the album was held by Piotr Gruenpeter who's best known for providing electronics, noise and production quality for the post-black phenomenon THAW, as well as from bands Searching For Calm and Sun For Miles. Wojtek 'Suseł' Kałuża, the band's vocalist comments: "First results are simply amazing and we can't wait to show you the final album. It's gonna be heavy, raw and crushing!"

The new album will feature two guest appearances - a fantastic guitar solo is provided by Piotr "Dziki" Chancewicz from the Polish band MECH and Hammond parts by Piotr "Voltan" Sikora from Leash Eye and Exlibris.

You can watch another video from the recording studio HERE.

The album "Fortune Favors The Brave" is scheduled for a release on May, 27th in Europe and July, 4th in USA (via MVD).
The band was formed in 2007 when guitarist Michal "Stempel" Stemplowski (along with drummer Luksus and bassist Kuba) recruited vocalist Wojciech "Susel" Kaluza for his new rock project dubbed Jack Daniels Overdrive. They self-released their debut EP called "Pure Concentrated Evil", which received a bunch of great reviews in various webzines and magazines. They played their very first show supporting Jesus Chrysler Suicide (a legendary Polish act) and the following two opening for Beatallica. In the meantime the band experienced two line-up changes, welcoming in their ranks drummer Lukasz "Jooras" Jurewicz and bassist Lukasz "Peo" Pomietło. In March 2009 they were given the honor of performing in Krakow with the living legend of stoner metal – Phil Anselmo's Down. In the following months came the inevitable – they changed their name to J. D. Overdrive to avoid legal problems with the Tennessee tycoon. And just when they thought that nothing can surprise them – on March 9th, 2011 they opened for Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society in Warsaw. After over three years of gathering experience at numerous live shows and sharpening their material, J.D. Overdrive were proud to release their debut album. The album entitled "Sex, Whiskey & Southern Blood" was released by Metal Mind Productions in June 2011. This year and the following brought more live performances and the band supported such acts as Blood Ceremony, Whitesnake and Soulfly. Now, in 2013 they are ready to return with their new album!

Line-up:
Wojtek „Suseł" Kałuża – vocal
Michał „Stempel" Stemplowski – guitar
Łukasz „Joorek" Jurewicz – drums

Tank - temporary change of the line-up

The legendary British band Tank have hired former DRAGONFORCE and current I AM I singer ZP Theart to front the band for their upcoming shows while TANK's most recent vocalist, Doogie White, is out on tour and recording in the studio with Michael Schenker.

Mick Tucker, the band's guitarist comments: "We thrive on bringing fresh blood into the band. It gives us a good kick in the ass and breathes new life into our songs. We've worked very hard over the past few years and have been rewarded with the success of our 'War Machine' and 'War Nation' albums and the release of our first official DVD 'War Machine Live'. Bringing in a world class vocalist like 'ZP' is a great privilege for us and a real treat for metal fans." Cliff Evans, guitars adds: "Mick and me have been playing together for a long time. We know what we want when it comes to making good music. We're very proud of the albums we made with Doogie's and the response we received from the fans and press has proved that we are a band that can deliver the goods when it comes to it. We've been rehearsing with ZP this week and we can't wait to get on stage and do what we do best. Play British rock/metal the way it should be played."

dUg Pinnick of King's X releases Naked on May 7

The leader of the legendary hard rock trio announces his latest solo album

dUg Pinnick, frontman for legendary hard rock trio King's X, releases his latest solo album, Naked, on May 7, 2013, through RockArmy Records with worldwide distribution through MVD.

Naked is a deeply personal release that represents Pinnick - who wrote, played, recorded, and produced the album alone at his own dUgtone Studio - at his most primal. Each of Naked's 11 guitar-heavy tracks are overflowing with Pinnick's unmistakable tone, groove, and heart-wrenching vocals, including the singles 'What You Gonna Do?' - which took YouTube by storm with a self-shot video that Pinnick created and unleashed in late 2012 - and 'That Great Big Thing'.

Pinnick has been a pivotal figure in heavy music for over 30 years, most notably as the vocalist and bassist for the still-active King's X, whose influence looms large over everything from the progressive metal movement (Dream Theater, et al) to the grunge scene - with Pearl Jam's Jeff Ament famously stating that "heavy music didn't start in Seattle, it started in Katy, Texas, with King's X" - and who are also one of the few bands in the history of rock 'n' roll to mark 25-plus years of playing together with the original lineup intact, with no signs of slowing down.

Since 1998, Pinnick has released 2 solo albums under the moniker Poundhound and 3 others (including a collection of home demos featuring more than a dozen fan-favorite King's X songs) under his own name. Additionally, Pinnick has joined forces with a who's-who of veteran rockers - including Pearl Jam's Jeff Ament, Eric Gales, Thomas Pridgen (The Mars Volta, The Memorials), Bruce Fanklin (Trouble), Kelly Keagy (Night Ranger), Timothy Drury (The Eagles, Stevie Nicks), Reb Beach (Winger, Dokken), Kip Winger (Winger), Living Colour (with whom he toured Europe as temporary vocalist in 2008), Gilby Clarke (Guns N' Roses), Yngwie Malmsteen, Billy Sheehan, 24-7 Spyz, Steve Stevens (Billy Idol, Vince Neil), Tribe After Tribe, Carmine Appice, and many more - and young hotshots, including the Austin-based metal band RAZR13 (whose album was produced by RockArmy Records owner Paul Soroski and featured a guest appearance by Philip H. Anselmo (Pantera) guitarist Marzi Montazeri.

Naked combines the vibe and the songwriting of a classic King's X album with the raw energy of a musician who feels like he's got something to prove and isn't afraid to do it. Without question, Naked is the sound of dUg Pinnick at the top of his game.
