History
HellHaven came into existence in My'lenice in order to bring to life original and unorthodox music.
At the beginning HellHaven was inspired by bands in heavy metal or hard rock genres. This period, for the band members, was a quest to find their own sound, an idea for future music and creation of a strong and solid group backbone.
The time from 2008 and 2009 was used to create their first work, but it was never officially published. In 2009 the band started to work on their first EP album. After 12 months of writing their own original music in 2010 the band, using their own financial expenses, created mini-album "Art for Art's Sake".
The record was a concept album which music could be described as a combination of progressive metal and heavy metal music styles. The 25 December 2010 is not only the official date of publishing the "Art for Art's Sake" record but also the day of HellHaven debut on the music stage.
The debut record was positively received both by critics and by fans. Thanks to the members' commitment in the band's activity, HellHaven music was often presented on polish radio stations. Thanks to that the group was able to reach the ears of many potential listeners.
The new sound, presented on their debut record, lead to the band's many successes, e.g. first place in polish music festival "Festiwal Muzyki Rozrywkowej w Opatowie" or participation in many smaller festivals. The record itself was chosen as a one out of twelve best debuts of February 2011 by MegaTotal.pl web page. The track "Stardust" was chosen as one out of five best tracks of February 2011 sent to the magazine "Estrada i Studio".
With the start of 2011 the band decided to start their work on a more complex music material for the second long play record. During that time the band signed a contract with German record label "Legacy-Records" which allowed them more creative and technical possibilities. In 2012, after 12 months of creating new music material, the band registered more than 50 minutes of music dubbed progressive rock/art rock in Lynx Music studio.
In October of 2012 premiere of a record single took place promoting long play record "Beyond the Frontier". Tracks which appeared on the record were "Paper Swan" and "About Reading and Writing".
Planned premiere of the album is set on December 2012.
Music influences
Band's musicians often adduce as a source of their music inspiration bands like King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Queen, System of a Down, Mike Oldfield or Iron Maiden yet they emphasise that the aim of the band is to create original music.
Interesting Details
In 2010 Jakub W'grzyn and Sebastian Najder established a music project on their own, called "The Majestic Two". The idea was to create music free from stylistic frames or technical barriers. The project is in a sense a "virtual creation" since the internet is the only source of distribution. At the moment there are three complex, in regard to their composition and musical tools, tracks and only two of those were officially presented on the internet. Because of the amount of work in the original formation, project "The Majestic Two" was suspended for the time being.
Name of the Band
The band's name was created from combination of two English words "Hell"[piek'o] and "Haven"[przysta']. This combination caused many problems for the band because of the mispronunciation. The word "Haven" is often mistaken for the word "Heaven"[niebo]. The name "HellHaven" may be translated into Polish as "Piekielna Przysta'".
