Clive's Health Battle Continues
As many of you know, the second part of 2015 turned out to be a very
trying and difficult time for Clive, who, due to a detached retina,
had to undergo three emergency eye operations. This forced him to
temporarily abandon work and devote more than 3 months to
rehabilitation and recovering. Sadly, the final result is still not
certain and it will take some time before we know the surgeries were
successful. Nevertheless, plans for 2016 have been made and hopefully
they can be carried out according to the schedule. Fingers crossed for
Clive and his swift and full recovery!
"SHE" in Holland
The first performance of Clive's rock opera "SHE" in 2016 will be a
concert version featuring the revised cast, live band and the chorus.
The show will take place on January 30th at the famousZoetermeer
Boerderij in Holland and will feature Gemma Louise Edwards as Ayesha,
Robbie Gardner as Leo, Verity Smith as Ustane, Chris Lewis as Holly,
Iain Baldwin (Job), Ross Andrews (Billali), Emily Frechter (Rehani) as
well as the Caamora Chorus. Boerderij will also witness the return of
the Caamora live band featuring Clive Nolan (keyboard), Mike Varty
(keyboards), Mark Westwood (guitar), Kylan Amos (Bass) and Scott
Higham (drums).
Additionally, the event will be supported by Clive Nolan and Friends
performing a special acoustic act, during which the audience will hear
a selection of songs from Clive's rock and musical repertoire
performed by Clive and his band: Mark, Kylan and Scott and the Caamora
Theatre vocalists.

Two New Musicals are Coming this Year!
Clive: "As I announced at "The Fire and the Quest" weekend, it is my
intention to write and record two musicals this year. This will be a
mammoth undertaking, but it's high time I moved on to new adventures!
The first, provisionally entitled "Dark Fables", will be a modern tale
based around music I have written over the last 25 years. My original
concept will be developed by director Ian Baldwin, whose exceptional
creative talent will ensure a tantalizing story. This show, for rock
band and five singers, will be designed so that we can take it out on
tour. In addition to the stage set there will also be interactive
video material featuring numerous special guests.
The second show, which will be titled "King's Ransom", will be set in
the "Alchemy universe". It will feature Professor King, Eva and
William, alongside exciting new characters and a brand new adventure.
This story takes place two years after the events of "Alchemy", and
explores the underworld of Victorian London with a big dose of
romance, intrigue and adventure. I have already written about half of
the musical material and the storyline is complete, which means that
most of the characters have been cast and I can already see the
makings of a thrilling new show!
It is my intention for the writing of both of these productions to be
completed later this year and recording to begin immediately after
that. I would like to think that 2017 will witness the release of CDs
and DVDs as well as launching new theatrical and concert performances
of the shows. Nevertheless, I do intend to preview some of the new
material in certain events this year.
I'm very excited by the prospect of these new challenges and look
forward to working again with all the talented singers, musicians,
artists and technicians who will help me bring these stories to life.

Arena Jubilee DVD!
The release date of the long awaited Arena 20th anniversary DVD has
been confirmed! The jubilee show, recorded in April 2015 in Poland,
will be released in February 2016 by Metal Mind Productions. "We're
very excited about this new release as it captures the vibe of the
anniversary tour and represents 20 years of Arena", says Clive.

Pendragon 20th Anniversary of The Masquerade Overture Tour!
Pendragon has announced the dates for the forthcoming 'Masquerade
Overture' 20th anniversary tour. "It's only a little tour, but 'The
Masquerade Overture' is 20 years old and we want every show to be a
big celebration!", says Nick Barrett. The tour will consist of 12
shows performed in major European cities including Paris, Zoetermeer,
London, Katowice and more. The tour will kick off in April with a
single concert at the festival in Reichenbach, Germany and will
continue throughout May 2016. Additionally, the show at the Wyspianski
Theatre in Katowice, Poland will be recorded for DVD by Metal Mind

Petri Lindström Project Releases 2nd Single From Upcoming Debut “Hail To Sabbath”
Petri Lindström Project has just released "Lost Children" the second single from the upcoming debut "Hail To Sabbath" due out mid 2016.

"The first release under the banner of "Petri Lindström Project" will pay tribute to what I consider to be one of the world's greatest bands. I have been influenced by the music of Black Sabbath since I first heard them at a very young age, so it was with this in mind, that I would record my first solo album as a tribute to Black Sabbath. However this is not an album of Black Sabbath cover songs, it is simply a tribute to a band that created a sound that inspired me as a musician. All the six compositions on the album are original and will feature various special guest."

Doogie White & La Paz reveal cover artwork and tracklist of their new album
British band Doogie White & La Paz return this April with a brand new studio album entitled "Shut Up And Rawk!". Almost immediately after their previous offering, "The Dark And The Light" (2013) had been released, Chic McSherry and Doogie White started writing new material. A total of 17 ideas were demo'd with 11 of them finally being crafted into songs for a new album. Recording could only be done in stages because of other commitments, but in many ways that extra time allowed the songs to develop and mature into a very powerful rock album, entitled "Shut Up And Rawk!" which is due for a worldwide release by Metal Mind Productions On April, 8th 2016.
Today the band reveal cover artwork and tracklist of their new album. The front cover was designed by Jarosław Wieczorek. "I was trying to go for a bit of a tongue-in-cheek approach. Basically, I was aiming for an interplay between this sort of a charismatic shout-out in the album's title and the sedate, a bit clichéd image of a psychiatrist's session. I wanted the cover not so much to be a graphic representation of the title as to be one with it and, as a whole, to make for a kind of a joke." – Wieczorek comments.

La Paz was formed in Lanarkshire, Scotland in the summer of 1984 by Chic McSherry (guitars), Doogie White (vocals) and Alex Carmichael (bass). At the first rehearsal together they hit it off immediately on a personal level - they also liked the same music and they had the same influences and heroes (Purple, Rainbow, Journey, Gary Moore) so they started to recruit other members to try to form a band and go do some gigs. Andy Mason (keyboards) joined the trio and he fitted in from the start, even though he was still at school when he joined. Drummers were always a problem and, over the life of the band, La Paz went through almost as many as Spinal Tap. Unquestionably the loudest and the most accomplished was/is their current drummer, Paul McManus.
They gigged regularly and played some prestigious venues including the world-famous Marquee Club in London as well as at some festivals in Milton Keynes. They were featured regularly in music magazines of the day, particularly Kerrang! (Derek Oliver becoming a big fan of the band) and attracted interest from a number of UK and US record companies, finally agreeing terms with one of them for a three album deal.
But it was not to be - for reasons which were never explained by the record label the deal fell through at the very last minute. Sadly the band didn't survive for very long after that. They did their last gig on 15th October 1988 and then Doogie moved to London to join Midnite Blue, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, Cornerstone, Yngwie Malmsteen and now Michael Schenker.
And then legendary DJ Tom Russell of 96.3 Rock Radio called Doogie and asked him if he would do some acoustic numbers at The Garage in Glasgow for Rock Radio's Birthday Bash in January 2008. Doogie agreed and asked Chic to play guitar.
It was a big ask after 20 years: almost 1000 people, Doogie singing alone and Chic with one flamenco guitar! "We had such a blast though and it woke up so many great memories in both of us that we decided to give it a go with the full band for my 50th birthday" said Chic. And so the full band started to rehearse and it was clear that they could still play a bit. The band just gelled: just like old times and the gigs were a terrific success. And so the idea of re-recording some of the favourites from the set that had never had a proper production job was conceived. The final result can be heard on the album "Granite" released in February 2012 on Metal Mind Productions.
The band's second album, "The Dark and The Light" was also released on Metal Mind Productions on 27th May 2013 to critical acclaim, with Classic Rock and Powerplay magazines both giving positive and strong reviews and the track "Don't Drink With The Devil2 becoming the Classic Rock Magazine's Number 1 Track of The week in their reader's poll.
Live appearances are difficult due to Doogie White's touring schedule with Michael Schenker and Paul McManus' also being involved with GUN, but the band made a rare appearance as the headline act on the opening night of the 2014 Hard Rock Hell Festival on March 20th. The show was "packed" and well received.

Rock Legends Lucifer's Friend Release LIVE @ SWEDEN ROCK 2015 - OUT NOW!
London, UK - Rock legends Lucifer's Friend reformed in 2015, some 20+ years after they were last together. LIVE @ SWEDEN ROCK 2015 captures the band's performance on the 4 Sound Stage on Friday 5th June 2015 as the HEADLINE act. The set list includes the band's greatest hits from the 1970s plus songs from the recently released 'Awakening' title.
Lucifer's Friend formed in 1970 with their influential and groundbreaking self-titled album, famous album among connoisseurs of 70's hard rock. Its heavy and majestic overtones made it a pioneer release of progressive rock genre.
The group went on to release six albums in that decade. In 1976 Lucifer's Friend suffered a hard blow when British vocalist John Lawton jumped ship for none other than Uriah Heep. The band broke up in 1982 and briefly reformed in 1994 for their ninth album "Sumo Grip". Now they're back, after 20 years, literally by the fans' request…
"This being only the second live concert since our reformation, we were all of course a bit nervous. However the crowd made us more than welcome and after the first few notes, the adrenalin kicked in and we were up and running. To play Sweden Rock Festival...one of the biggest festivals on the circuit was for us a great honour and one which we will hopefully repeat. Prog Trio SkyTalk Release Debut EP “Days in the Sun”
NYC - Much to the excitement of prog fans worldwide, progressive rock trio SkyTalk has released their highly anticipated debut EP "Days in the Sun"! SkyTalk is a 3 piece collaborative effort formed in January 2015 by twin brothers Jordan and Talor Steinberg and Dan "Ello" Costello. Costello was introduced to the twins by a mutual friend while all three were attending Purchase College. They bonded instantly on a similar taste in music, particularly 70's progressive rock bands like Yes and Rush. Shortly after meeting, the three met up again to jam and quickly found that they had an undeniable musical chemistry, as well as similar inner philosophies on life and music. Eager to form a band, the three began writing original music together and were surprised at the effortlessness of the process, writing five songs in a matter of two months that would later become their "Days in the Sun" EP.
Blending their love of progressive music as well as soul and funk influences, SkyTalk polished their newfound sound and recorded the EP in the following months. With a lyrical emphasis on spiritual concepts, and the shared belief that music is a necessary and powerful force of healing and expression in the world, SkyTalk has released their first EP and is currently working on a new full length record which even further emphasizes these principles. The band is currently booking shows in the New York area as their full length record nears completion.
Says Ello, "The theme of this EP is spirituality and healing. The songs deal with healing past hurts and coming to terms with who you really are now as apposed to who you thought you would be. Meditation and becoming free of your mind was another revolving theme, especially in the song 'Fall Awake'. 'Say' deals with honesty and overcoming barriers that prevent one from opening up completely to others."
The album was written between the Steinberg brothers basement and the music school where the three all teach private lessons. Each song began as pieces and were refined through jam sessions between the three and further planning in the studio. Lyrics always began as a conversation and were written after the music was ready. The recording process took place over a few months and was recorded between three different studios, engineered, produced and mastered by Jeremy Kinney, a friend of the three from school. NO metronomes were used in the recording process.
Dan "Ello" Costello has been drumming and writing music since he was 15. In and out of a few not so serious bands in high school, he also wrote original music of his own, both electronic and singer songwriter solo projects until joining SkyTalk. Ello is currently studying music at Purchase College and working as a drum instructor at School of Rock. Jordan and Talor Steinberg have been performing in bands since their early teenage years, playing all over the New York city area. Outside of the band the two are currently private music instructors.
SkyTalk is currently booking shows in New York and in the East Coast, as well as beginning to record a full length album. They are also working on two different music videos, one of a cover and one for their original song "Days in the Sun".

Ifsounds‘ Announce New Drummer
Italian crossover prog and rock band ifsounds have announced that Lino Mesina is now a member of the band as their new drummer.
Lino is a highly trained in jazz and rock and is a former drum teacher as well as playing for many high class bands. The ifsounds family welcomes Lino and thanks Gianni Manariti for his friendship, for the excellent job done on Reset and wishes him the best for his future projects.
if sounds released "Reset" is the third official full length album on July 30th 2015, and was the bands first attempt at producing and releasing an album both in English and in Italian to explore lyrical opportunities in both their Native and English language.
"Reset" is an album about sudden stops and re-starts. Musically it's about ifsounds, their story, their evolution and re-birth as a band. Lyrically "Reset" is about those shocking events that can upset a quite and ordinary life, leading you to want to completely reset your existence.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - New Haven-based progressive ensemble, Earthside, has been nominated by the North American Independent Rock Music Association for several 2016 NAIRMA Awards. The award show, set to take place at the Yost Theater in Santa Ana, Calif. on January 22, recognizes creative and technical excellence within the genres of rock, hard rock, metal, punk and hardcore music. Earthside has been nominated for four unsigned artist categories including Outstanding Album (A Dream in Static),Outstanding Song ("Mob Mentality"), Outstanding Video ("Mob Mentality") andOutstanding Keyboardist (Frank Sacramone).

In addition to the NAIRMA Awards nominations, Earthside has also announced a handful of European tour dates supporting Leprous and special guest Voyager on "The Congregation Tour Part 2." This marks Earthside's first European stint, and first formal tour, since hitting the road with Soulfly, Soilwork and Shattered Sun for the "We Sold Our Souls to Metal Tour 2015" in the U.S. last fall.
Earthside's debut album A Dream in Static released last October to much critical acclaim. An epic undertaking of cross-continental collaborations, A Dream in Static was recorded in Stockholm, Sweden under the watch of renowned producer and mix engineer, David Castillo (Opeth, Katatonia, Bloodbath), and additional mix and mastering engineer, Jens Bogren (Opeth, Soilwork, The Ocean, Devin Townsend). The instrumental collective recruited several acclaimed guest vocalists including Lajon Witherspoon (Sevendust), Daniel Tompkins (TesseracT, ex-Skyharbor), Björn Strid (Soilwork) and Eric Zirlinger (Face the King, ex-Seer) to provide their prowess across four of the eight cinematic tracks, as well as the Moscow Studio Symphony Orchestra (MSSO) for live orchestral compositions.

Silver Sleeve Records Launches With The Return of Hard Rock Outfit The Giraffes!
Brooklyn, NY/Studio City, CA - Lightyear Entertainment is pleased to announce the formation of a new music label, Silver Sleeve Records.
Silver Sleeve will be helmed by Lightyear VP and former Columbia Records A&R man Sky Spooner. It will focus on indie alt/rock bands, alt/country bands and active rock bands, in particular from (but not limited to) the vibrant Brooklyn music scene.
"Lightyear has always been eclectic in its releases, working in a variety of genres including rock, pop, r&b, hip-hop, reggae, world music, and jazz. Silver Sleeve is going to be different. We will have a distinct label identity. We will be looking for Hard/Fast/Loud/Punk/Psych/Surf/Metal music from stunning emerging artists all over the globe," said Silver Sleeve President Sky Spooner.
The first band signed to the new label is The Giraffes. From 1996 to 2015, the Brooklyn-based Giraffes have shredded, burned, and leveled every audience from their Brooklyn hometown to the Sunset Strip, and back again. Lead singer Aaron Lazar and guitar wizard Damien Paris form the focus of the band supported by the locomotive rhythm section of maniac drummer Andrew Totolos and latest Giraffe, Josh Taggart on bass.
The first release of the new album from The Giraffes, Usury, will be released digitally worldwide through Caroline/Universal Music Group on October 2, 2015. The CD and vinyl LP will be released January 29, 2016. The LP will be clear, audiophile vinyl, with an included download card, and of course packaged with a silver sleeve.

Instrumental prog metal trio Odyssey set to release new full-length, Voids.
Active since 2007, Spokane, Washington based prog trio Odyssey have built up an impressive resume thus far as a prog band worth paying attention to. To date, the group already has five releases under their belt, and will very shortly drop their sixth release, Voids, on February 5th 2016. Voids stands as the groups 3rd full-length record, and at almost 50 minutes, gives open minded prog music heads a lot of gorgeous music to explore. Over the course of time, this talented instrumental trio has worked hard to build a multi-faceted sound that appeals to more than just the typical instrumental metal fan base. Oddysey do so by crafting their songs with an aggressive and thrashing side to it that's liberally peppered with massive headbang friendly grooves. Odyssey have won plenty of praise over the years for their unique brand of instrumental prog metal, but Voids just might be their finest musical statement yet.

Guitar Virtuoso Todd Grubbs To Release New Vocal Album “As The Worm Turns”
Tampa, FL - Best known for his virtuosic guitar instrumental albums, Tampa guitarist Todd Grubbs will be releasing for the first time a predominantly "vocal" album titled "As The Worm Turns". Not to fear, you still hear Todd shred on guitar throughout the album, but this time around the tracks are more "song" oriented.
Says Todd, "I have been writing and working on these songs for the last couple of years. I have 2 vocal albums with the band 3 Green Windows but I wanted to do a true solo album with a bunch of different singers. I have really enjoyed creating all of my instrumental CDs but I kinda feel like I have made my statement in that genre, my new goal is to equal my instrumental output with vocal projects."
The beginning of "As The Worm Turns" features a conceptual piece about a former soldier's personal crises. Todd explains, "The first 4 songs are actually a concept piece about a soldier that begins with him dealing with his demons in mid life (The Man in the Hat). The story then goes back into his time during the D Day invasion (Stay Alive). The Other side of forever is a companion piece to Stay Alive, telling the soldier's wife's experience at home.The 4th song of this mini concept piece is We are one and it is the soldier at the end of his life coming to peace and trying to understand everything he has been through."

Todd Grubbs' core band as always is Jeff Henry on Drums Alan Tatum on Bass. Also included, Daniel Swartwood and Eddie Ray Myers on keyboards. Todd also has some great singers involved, Zack Stevens (Savatage, Circle to Circle) John Wesley (Solo,Porcupine Tree) Todd Plant (Eyewitness,Cryptic Vision) as well as a couple of fantastic young singers, Emily Velasco and Melanie Sims.
Todd Grubbs studied at Berklee College of Music and has been voted 'Most Outstanding Guitarist' at the Tampa Bay Music Awards, as well as winning the 'Most Outstanding Video' two consecutive years in a row. Along with Frank Zappa, Grubbs influences, which can be heard throughout Time, Space and the Electric, range from Steve Vai, John Coltrane, The Beatles, Kate Bush, Jeff Beck, Michael Schenker, Ulli Jon Roth and Adrian Belew.
