Joe Satriani, one of rock music's most respected electric guitar players, is set to perform at the Beacon Theatre on September 26. In concert, Joe will be joined by Marco Minnemann (drums), Bryan Beller (bass) and Mike Keneally (keys) with a special opening performance by the Steve Morse Band, featuring Deep Purple and Dixie Dregs guitarist Steve Morse.   

Recently, Satriani confirmed the release of his 14th studio album, Unstoppable Momentum, set for May 7 on Epic Records. The new disc was produced by Satriani and Mike Fraser (AC/DC) and features Vinnie Colauita (Sting, Jeff Beck) on drums, Chris Chaney (Janes Addiction) on bass and Mike Keneally (Dethklok) on keys.

For two decades, Satriani has traveled the world, playing to sold-out crowds as both a headliner and as founder of the all-star "G3" guitar extravaganza.  His studio and live recordings have sold more than 10 million copies worldwide to date and of his many solo albums, two have gone platinum and four others went gold, with 15 Grammy nominations between them.  His side project, Chickenfoot, featuring former Van Halen front man Sammy Hagar, former bassist Michael Anthony, and Red Hot Chili Peppers' drummer Chad Smith saw their debut album certified gold and their second studio album debuted at #9. In late 2010, music sensation Nicki Minaj sampled the classic Satriani song, "Always With Me Always With You" in her song, "Right Through Me" from her multi-platinum debut album. In 2011, Satriani recreated his National Anthem performance for the Opening Day of the Oakland A's historic 2002 season in the Brad Pitt movie Moneyball.   

Steve Morse's career encompasses a blend of rock, country, funk, jazz, and classical, and continues to push boundaries and take chances.  In addition to a thriving solo career, Morse is known for his work with jazz fusion pioneers Dixie Dregs, progressive rock mainstays KANSAS and with metal icons Deep Purple.  His accolades include winning Guitar Player's "Best Overall Guitarist" poll for five years running and six Grammy nominations.

Ulver return with new studio album


Kscope are pleased to announce the new album from Ulver will be released on October 7th 2013.
Commissioned for the Tromso Kulturhus, Norway in cooperation with the Arctic Opera and Philharmonic Orchestra , the new album was composed and first performed by Ulver, on primarily electronic instruments, with the Tromso Chamber Orchestra on September 21 2012.
The world famous Norwegian band have evolved from black-metallers in 1992 to cross genres including ambient, progressive rock, psychedelic and jazz.

Alastor - see "Crawling" video clip!

Alastor, the legendary thrash metal band from Poland returned in late 2012 with a brand new album. “Out of Anger” was their first release after the line-up change in 2010, when Mish Jarski replaced the band’s previous singer Robert Stankiewicz. And today the band reveal a video clip recorded to the track “Crawling”. You can see it on Metal Mind Productions’ official channel on YouTube in THIS location.

Michał ‘Mish’ Jarski comments: “We decided together that we do not want to make any short movie, to show a story in an obvious, straight forward way, but we rather prefer to blend the story into the clip in a very discreet way so it could be - like the lyrics - interpreted individually.”
 
 
The album “Out of Anger” consists of 8 tracks which feature thrash metal with the addition of some traditional sounds. The album features a couple of guest appearances - Bartosz "Barton" Szarek (Lostbone, Chain Reaction) and Adam "Baryła" Bryłka (Horrorscope) on vocals and Lech "Blackpitfather" Śmiechowicz (Horrorscope) on the guitar.

The thrash metal band Alastor was formed in 1986 in Kutno, Poland and through the years they have become a legend. The band has an established position on the Polish metal scene – their previous studio albums were appreciated by fans and critics alike. Their debut album from 1989, entitled „Syndroms of the Cities”, was recorded in the following line-up: Sławomir Bryłka  (drums), Mariusz Matuszewski (guitars), Grzegorz Frydrysiak (bass), Waldemar Osiecki (guitars) and Robert Stankiewicz(vocals). The album was originally released on vinyl by the Italian label Metalmaster. Their sophomore album “Destiny” was recorded in 1990 but it was never released. The year 1994 brought their next album "Zło” (LoudOut Records). In the following years, the band managed to record two more albums („Żyj, gnij i milcz” in 1997, „Spaaazm” in 2005). In 2010, the band underwent some line-up changes. In the new, improved line-up the band recorded their new material „Out of Anger”.  In September 2012 Metal Mind Productions re-issued Alastor’s first two albums - the material was remastered and released in a limited digipack edition.

Brooklyn's Barbez's 5th album Bella Ciao inspired by ancient Roman Jewish music and Italian Resistance movement

Bella Ciao is the fifth full-length album from Brooklyn's Barbez, sui generis luminaries of the New York music scene. The album was r ecorded and mixedby the incomparable Martin Bisi (Swans, Sonic Youth, Herbie Hancock, Ramones, John Zorn) at B.C. Studios in Brooklyn, NY with band leader and guitarist Dan Kaufman producing. Special guests include Dawn McCarthy (Faun Fables, Will Oldham) on vocals, legendary downtown experimental theatre director and poetess Fiona Templeton on voice, and former Electro-Harmonix pedal inventor Dan Coates on electronics. Bella Ciao is being released by John Zorn's Tzadik label August 27.
 
Bella Ciao is inspired by both ancient Roman Jewish melodies and the Italian Resistance during the Second World War. To help tell that timeless story of defiance, the album incorporates poems by the great Italian writer and filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini and his renowned contemporary, the poet Alfonso Gatto. The title track, the partisan anthem "Bella Ciao," has been an international symbol of resistance for seventy years and is re-imagined here in a stunning interpretation for a new generation. As Gatto wrote many years after the war: "The Resistance ... is not an exceptional moment of being; it is the opposite-a period that endures in time and in history to form a common conscience."

As on previous efforts Barbez weaves a haunting mosaic of avant-rock, old-world cabaret, European folksong, and contemporary classical into a uniquely beautiful and personal soundscape. An unconventional line-up, a kind of rock-tinged chamber ensemble comprised of theremin, clarinet, violin, vibraphone, electric guitar, bass and drums, forges a rich, indescribable-yet beautiful-sonic tapestry that alternates between passages of quiet intensity and passionate fury.

Since its formation in Brooklyn in the late 1990s, Barbez has released five albums, each of them engineered and mixed by Martin Bisi. The group's last record, Force of Light, was an homage to the Romanian-Jewish Holocaust poet Paul Celan and was hailed by allmusic.com as "one of the most profound settings for poetry in music" of all time.

For the past decade, Barbez has performed across the United States and Europe including engagements at UCLA's Royce Hall in Los Angeles (sharing the bill with the MC5 and Sun Ra Arkestra), the Festival Territoria in Moscow, Russia, and the Museum of Jewish Art and History in Paris, France. Over its history, Barbez has collaborated with a diverse group of musicians including the cellist Julia Kent of Antony and the Johnsons, the avant-vocalist Shelley Hirsch, and the singer and guitarist Nils Frykdahl of Sleepytime Gorilla Museum and Faun Fables.

Barbez maintains a long-running collaboration with the experimental theatre director, filmmaker, and playwright, John Jesurun, a MacArthur "genius" grant winner, and has composed and performed scores for several of Jesurun's theatrical works, which have been staged at the Berliner Festspiele, in Berlin, Germany and the Rubin Museum of Himalayan Art in New York. Jesurun, who directed the groundbreaking "Last Goodbye" video for Jeff Buckley, has directed two videos for the band. Barbez has also contributed music for several dance works, including One and The Making of Americans, both choreographed by the Bessie-award winner Juliette Mapp and presented, respectively, by Danspace Project and Dance Theatre Workshop in New York.

RPWL reveals the cover artwork of their forthcoming live DVD

As previously announced, German art/prog rock band RPWL returns in September with a brand new release. Their new live DVD entitled „A Show Beyond Man and Time"  features a special show recorded earlier this year at Wyspiański Theater in Katowice, Poland, which was also the last complete performance of their most recent album "Beyond Man and Time" in Europe. The multi‐media live presentation of this concept album with its stunning show elements and musical virtuosity – expect an outstanding experience! In addition to the songs from „Beyond Man and Time", the show includes several „RPWL classics" and some surprises in the band's live set like "Roses" - one of the band's most popular songs performed together with Ray Wilson (ex-Genesis, Stiltskin)! The DVD will also include bonus materials such as an interview with band members.

The release date of „A Show Beyond Man and Time" DVD is scheduled for September, 9th in Poland, September, 25th in Europe and October, 15th in USA (via MVD). The material from „A Show Beyond Man and Time" will be available in two formats: DVD and double CD DG. Full details to be announced soon.
 
The music of this German band definitely has its own style – modern yet also drawing from the best traditions of the prog-rock genre. All in all - brilliant compositions, catchy melodies, mature and intriguing sound!  The band was formed in 1997 in Freising, Germany as a Pink Floyd cover band. After three years they started creating their own music, based on their experience from their cover band era. Glorious reviews after the release of their debut album "God Has Failed" (2000), a successful tour through half of Europe, and appearances at various festivals left no doubt - the band had become a must-hear of the progressive/symphonic rock genre. In march 2002, RPWL released a follow-up album entitled "Trying to Kiss the Sun". With this album, the band emphatically shed off their reputation of a Pink-Floyd cover band and created a sound of their own. The band toured extensively through Germany and Europe, taking their shows to a new level with a quadraphonic sound system, which made their already huge live sound even more gigantic. Having published their album in the USA and South America, RPWL gained fans and recognition all over the world. In the next years, the band released the following studio albums: "Stock" (2003), „World Through My Eyes" (2005), "The RPWL Experience" (2008). „Beyond Man and Time" (2012) is their most recent album and it will make for the main part of their performance at Wyspiański Theater in Katowice.

Sammy Hagar reveals final tracklisting and artwork for new album


Sammy Hagar has enlisted three legendary musicians - Toby Keith, Mickey Hart and TajMahal - to round out the final three tracks on his first-ever rock collaborations album:"Sammy Hagar and Friends".  Previously confirmed musicians featured  on the new album include Michael Anthony, Nancy Wilson, Neal Schon, Kid Rock, Joe Satriani, Chad Smith, Denny Carmassi, Bill Church, and many more.

Melodic Revolution Records Is Proud to Announce the Signing of Finnish Prog Band “Progeland”


Progeland was founded by one man's vision of improving the world by creating beautiful music to mankind, beside the vision, this man had the gift of composing music and the gift of finding the greatest riffs and melodies and turning them into the most classic progressive compositions.

One man is not a band, so it is with this in mind that in 2007 Lindström started to seek musicians to make Progeland come alive. Petri "Lemmy" Lindström, went for a journey of exploration to the Land of Prog, with his music. Heading to his destination, he met a wayfarer, Tomi Murtomäki, who had the message and voice with him. Now there was someone to put the touching stories with the music and sing them. Together they continued the journey. 

The twosome was to grow into a band when they discovered more messengers of progressive rock. The journey that started as a one man-vision continued with new stories, music, recordings, performances and listeners, towards the promised-land that welcomes everyone, towards the Land of Prog, of which sun's twelve rays shine with warmth, joy and brightness telling a story about friendship, sharing and caring; bringing tranquility and understanding; providing emotions, passion, community and music. Good will and peace can be found under the sun of Progeland. In 2011 the band released their self titled debut and by 2013 Petri Lindström had brought together some of the finest musicians that would become what Progeland is today.

Progeland  have started to record their 2nd album to be released in early 2014 as they feel it is time to show the rest of the world what they have already known: It's time to join the fantasy journey to the funky world of Progeland.

U.S. Progressive Metallers THOUGHT CHAMBER are finally back with a new release, following up on their acclaimed debut album "Angular Perceptions" from 2007. The album's cover artwork, which can be seen above, was designed by John E. Holland / MistyMountainGraphics.com. The album was recorded in various locations between 2012 and 2013 and finally mixed and mastered by Tom Size (Y&T, Aerosmith, Mr. Big, Enchant) at Tomland Studios, Pacheco, CA.

JOLLY reveal moving new video for 'As Heard On Tape'


This year so far, Jolly have not only released the stunning second part of 'The Audio Guide To Happiness', they've also toured Europe and the US with Polish progressive legends Riverside and released two music videos. Now the band are extremely pleased to reveal the moving new video for the beautiful track'As Heard On Tape', which can be viewed here:

'Sometimes the only way to deal with true pain is to just feel it head on.  At the height of the Hurricane Sandy Disaster, David Roya, the father of JOLLY drummer/producer Louis Abramson, decided to walk to the beach for the sole purpose of letting his pain take him over.  This was a particularly hard time for David, living for months in what seemed like a post-apocalyptic world, with no power, limited food, cloudy polluted air, and all the time in the world to think.  Beyond the immediate trauma of the disaster, he now began to face his own mortality and feel the repressed pain of his entire life.

David walked to the beach, and spent about an hour crying, laughing, screaming, and just running through all the emotions that arose.

When he was finished, he felt a surge of relief, and energy.  When he returned back home, JOLLY was over finishing up a day of filming the video for Dust Nation Bleak, and discussing ideas for further videos.  David came bursting into the room and began to tell JOLLY all about his experience on the beach and how profound it was.  He was oozing with excitement and elation.

After he left, bassist Anthony Rondinone turned to the rest of the band and said "this should be a music video.."

Soon after, Louis approached his father about the possibility of filming him while he went through this intense catharsis.  He said at first it might be strange, but eventually he would be able to forget the camera was there.  So off they went, father and son, to the dismal desolate beach, and there began a rather strange and beautiful experience.  While trying to get artistic camera angles, Louis is simultaneously experiencing his father get completely overtaken by his emotions.  This was a completely new experience for him, as his father had always proved to be a "tough" guy.

What may seem like a crazy man ranting on the beach is actually something quite beautiful, profound, and totally real.  At the darkest time in a mans life, he was courageous enough to feel his emotions, and let the world see him in his most raw and vulnerable state.  And you are witnessing this all through the eyes of his son.

Leash Eye working on their new album - studio report part 2

Metal/Southern Rock band Leash Eye is still in the studio working on their new full-length album. "V.I.C.I." is a follow up to their acclaimed album "„V.I.D.I" from 2011. "Heinrich" (Filip Hałucha) from Sound Division Studio is responsible again for the production of the new material. Part two of the studio report is now available on the band's official channel on YouTube at THIS location.
 
 
Leash Eye call its own music as Hard Truckin' Rock. Technically speaking, it's a mixture of good old hard rock sound dating back to the 70's with scents of stoner metal and southern rock tradition. The core of the band's sound comprises of well embedded rhythm section ,mighty sound of guitars and distorted Hammond organs. The classical hard rocking vocal gives a nice finish to it all. This blend is bottled into one band playing 21st century style hard rock!
 
The band was founded by three friends, playing for their own enjoyment. As their musical goal, the band decided to follow the same road as the one chosen by Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Kyuss, Tool, Illusion, and Spiritual Beggars. In March 1999, the band recorded 5 songs, which were featured on their promo CD. The change of the lead singer in 2003 triggered also a change of their style - these days Leash Eye stands for melodious hard rock of the 70's, accompanied by heavy, modern sounds and classic vocals. In Autumn 2009, Leash Eye's debut album "V.E.N.I", featuring guest appearance of Riverside's Michał Łapaja on the Hammond organ, sees the light of day. The album met with the acclaim of both critics and listeners. The year 2010 is marked by intense work on new songs, which are to be included on the band's new full-length album. Ultimately, 10 out of 13 compositions are chosen and, in the beginning of 2011, the band enter Sound Division Studio in Warsaw to record their 2nd album "V.I.D.I.", with Behemoth's Orion as the producer and Vesania's Heinrich as sound engineer. Until now, the year 2011 was definitely the most successful year in Leash Eye's career. They won Antyradio's competition and, as a result, their right to perform at Sonisphere Festival next to Motorhead and Iron Maiden. Also, they represented Poland at Wacken Open Air festival, where they performed as the winners of Polish edition of Wacken Metal Battle. Also in 2011, they released their second full-length studio album "V.I.D.I.".
And still the best is yet to come. Their third studio album "V.I.C.I." is scheduled for release in October. Full details to be confirmed soon.

Steve Hillage, one of the original members of the British prog rock band GONG, is pleased to announce the world premiere of a cutting edge live performance and animation promo video for "Hinotori" – the first single taken from ROVO andSystem 7's forthcoming collaborative studio album PHOENIX RISING (released in the UK on 23 September).

Apocalypse: show with Yes, new band members and participation on British compilation


One of the biggest names in Brazilian progressive rock, APOCALYPSE played recently what has become one of the most important shows of its entire career. After making opening concerts for names like Nazareth, Uriah Heep, Joe Lynn Turner and Pendragon, on the last month of May the band shared the stage with none other than YES, one of its main influences. The show happened at Araujo Viana auditorium in Porto Alegre/Brazil and had a big audience that saw APOCALYPSE playing songs from its new DVDThe Bridge of Light like "Ocean Soul", "Last Paradise" and "Follow the Bridge". At the end of its performance, APOCALYPSE got a standing ovation by the audience.

On an important moment of its career, APOCALYPSE also announces two significant changes on its line-up, the entrance of the musicians Carlos D´elia and Rainer Steiner Campos.

Carlos came to fill the bass player place that was empty for a long time in APOCALYPSE. His debut show with the band was indeed during the opening for YES, what had a special meaning for him.
"My entrance on APOCALYPSE happened during a singular moment in my career", tells the musician. "After working with instrumental music, jazz and MPB, I'd like to develop a work oriented for rock again. I always appreciated prog rock very much, and now I will have the opportunity to let it go, in the studio or on the stages, with all this musical skills coming from other musical segments."

As for Rainer Steiner Campos, he joins the band to substitute the old drummer, Fabio Schneider. His entrance happened naturally, once Rainer was always a prog rock fan and friends with some APOCALYPSE old members.
"I always followed closely the career of APOCALYPSE and I can tell that in Brazil are just few bands that highlights on this segment. I always wished to play this kind of music and when they offered me the job, I felt that was a natural path to follow. Now the time has come to contribute with my drumsticks and experience of more than 35 years of shows, recordings and writting", declared the musician.

Besides Carlos D´elia and Rainer Steiner Campos, the current APOCALYPSE line-up also counts with Gustavo Demarchi (vocals and flute), Eloy Fritsch (keyboards)  and  Ruy Fritsch (guitar).  

Among other news, the song "New Sunrise" from the album 2012 Light Years from Home - released inside the 25th Anniversary Box-Set - is part of the new compilation "New Species Volume IX" released by Classic Rock Society magazine from England.
