DANIELE LIVERANI to embark on solo adventure
Twinspirits, Genius Rock Opera, Cosmics and Khymera; the
multi-talented Daniele Liverani is also a guitarist of considerable
skill as his new instrumental album "Eleven Mysteries" will testify on
20th July 2012 (Lion Music).
While "Eleven Mysteries" is basically a guitar oriented album, the
overall vibe of all the songs is definitely more like a "conceptual
instrumental album" where guitar has the role of a "virtual singer".
Musically there's some intense shred, but also some very melodic
moments, and the musicianship and arrangements of the talented line up
involved helped to create a wide variety of atmospheres and different
musical moments; due to the skills and different influences of the
various musicians - drummer Paco Barilla', bassist Tony Dickinson and
keyboardist Marco Zago.
However, this not only an album for guitar lovers, but for anyone that
appreciates musical composition on a more general level with lots to
discover in and each and every track along with a first class
production.

Barclay James Harvest - Crystal Palace Garden Party cancelled
Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but the Crystal Palace Garden Party scheduled for June 23rd has had to be cancelled because of estructural/safety issues with the stage. Here's a message from the organisers:
It is with great disappointment that I must notify you guys that the Crystal Palace Garden Party will not now be able to go ahead.
When it was realised that a 1.5 ton scissor lift truck must come on to the stage to erect the sails and rigging some cursory tests were made to the structure.
There was some obvious weather wear to the stage and the temporary boards that were put down some time ago ... On closer examination it seemed there might be a problema structural engineer was called and rotten joists checked etc it was discovered the delapidation was much worse than was at first thought Any sign off on safety or otherwise of the structure cannot be made possibly for several weeks or more...
Under other circumstances postponement to a new date would be an obvious option but due to the Olympics, no Police support can be used until after the Paralympics and after then, the park already has other events in the diary up to the end of September after which it is unfeasible to have an outdoor concert...
To me this represented an opportunity that I have been working towards for several years and have been working solidly over 5 months 7 days per week!
I can hardly put into words the frustration I feel...
Yours sincerely and with a heavy heart
Mike Fox

NEARfestNews UK to headline sold-out NEARfest Apocalypse
We are delighted to announce that the legendary progressive rock supergroup UK will be joining the NEARfest Apocalypse lineup as the Sunday night festival headliner with a four-piece lineup. By some streak of amazing fortune, the members of UK had simultaneous availability in their busy schedules, and were able to assume the mantle of festival headliner with less than a month to spare before the event.
Revolving around two iconic musicians, keyboardist/violinist Eddie Jobson and bassist/vocalist John Wetton, UK was the last of the 1970s progressive rock supergroups. UK seamlessly melded dazzling instrumental virtuosity, incredible compositional prowess, classical and jazz influences, and memorable song-craft into two classic studio albums that have endured the test of time and earned the band legions of fans. In the second decade of the new millennium these two luminaries have once again joined forces to bring UK's timeless music back to the stage, thrilling audiences around the world at sold-out concerts. With an expanded four-piece lineup including celebrated rock/fusion drummer Gary Husband and noted fusion guitarist Alex Machacek, UK will feature music from both of its albums and classic-era King Crimson songs not able to be performed with the 3-piece lineup that recently toured the USA.
NEARfest Apocalypse will occur June 22-24, 2012 at Zoellner Arts Center, Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA. Co-headlining with UK are Van der Graaf Generator (Friday night June 22) and Renaissance (Saturday night June 23). Although the festival has been sold out for some time, UK fans seeking to attend may look for second-hand tickets at the NEARfest website discussion forum Ticket Board (http://www.nearfest.com/forum/index.php) or the Progressive Ears discussion board (http://www.progressiveears.com).

Deadline - Heading West 'Produced by Beau Hill'
France is not known to be the country of prime Hard Rock bands… DEADLINE, of Parisian origin, is the band that intends to make you feel the difference!
The DEADLINERS hit the scene in 2009, after about two years of seeking out the steady line-up, ready and hard willing to knock down the listener with their blend of modern and classic hard rock anthems.
The band is composed of guitarist and founder Joris Béraud, guitarist Gabriel Lect, lead vocalist Arnaud Restoueix, bass player Sébastien Debbane and drummer Nicolas Ballu.
Their sound is shaped by the several and individual influences of each band member, ranging from the 70's to last decade's rock & roll. The guitar work is inspired by the likes of Slash, Doug Aldrich or even Steve Vai and the vocals are mainly influenced by bluesy hard rock singers such as Robert Plant and David Coverdale as well as heavier rock singers like Ronnie James Dio.
In late 2010, US multi-platinum producer Beau Hill gets in touch with DEADLINE through their MySpace. The band grabs the chance to collaborate with the multi-platinum producer Who has worked with world-famous bands such as Ratt, Winger, Alice Cooper, Warrant, or even Europe.
After releasing their first hit single "Dance with Style", followed by a second single "Heading West" (both engineered by Beau Hill), the band takes over like a storm on several FM and Internet Radio shows in Europe and USA.
Their first EP, engineered by Beau Hill, has been released in February 2012 on Sliptrick
Records in its digital format (physical out in April).

2. Our Shoes

4. Find Me

6. Fix My Arms

8. Goodnight
9. Come Home
The beginning of Mr Gil dates back to 1998. It was then that Mirek Gil, the guitarist of the progressive group Collage, decided to present his artistic abilities on his first solo album “Alone”. He invited his fellow musicians to this project: Olaf Łapczyński on vocals, Krzysztof Palczewski on keyboards, Piotr Witkowski on bass and Vlodi Tafel on drums. The most outstanding track on that album was undoubtedly the song “Beggar”, which to this day is often performed during the concerts of groups led by Mirek Gil. After the success of “Alone”, the band chose to keep silent for the next 10 years. In 2009, the idea of reactivating the project was born. The band released “Skellig” in 2010, this time with Karol Wróblewski (Believe) on vocals. Also in 2010, the band released the album “Light and Sound”. And now the band return with their fourth studio album entitled „I Want You to Get Back Home”. As the band say: „You can't plan everything. And especially you cannot control what comes out of the human soul. Because it is the need for honesty, friendship and passion that grew into the idea of Mr. Gil's new album. Friends decided to meet again in the studio to complete their story..." And this story started with their album „Light & Sound”, when the band's new improved line-up crystalized: Mirek Gil (guitars), Karol Wróblewski (vocals), Konrad Wantrych (piano, keys) and Paulina Druch (cello). Their album „I Want You to Get Back Home”, recorded in the same line-up, brings 9 brand new tracks. „It’s like coming back home, like a return to peace and warmth” says Mirek Gil. „In our new music, there is a lot of friendship and that was the main idea behind it. Is there anything more important, more beautiful than this? We have managed to learn more about each other. It is in each other that we have found that home”.

NOKO – “Bad Thoughts” video available on YouTube
NOKO’s music is a combination of the best elements of rock, metal, grunge and alternative. As the band describe the content of their debut release: "You will hear in our music the influences of metal, nu-metal, grunge and even progressive rock – from these genres we draw our inspiration. At times, the music is very strong and dynamic but there are also moments of melancholy. The lyric describe the world and the realm of emotions and feelings through the prism of personal experience of our vocalist, but don't always relate to actual events and situations. They focus mainly on the burden of responsibility for the choices we make each day and the consequences associated with them."

Magellan Releases Cover of Immortal Kansas Hit
2012, San Francisco, CA – Veteran progressive metal/rock group
Magellan have just released a cover of the classic Kansas hit "Dust in
the Wind" as a digital only single. The song showcases Magellan's
interpretation of the iconic piece which was produced by Trent
Gardner. Simultaneously, they have also released a full-length digital
album entitled, "Innocent God".
The original song "Dust in the Wind" was released by Kansas in 1977
and reached number six on the Billboard Charts. That made it the
group's only top ten hit. While Magellan's version is certainly a new
interpretation, both the vocal melodies and lyrical concepts are
delivered expertly by guest vocalist Rob Lopez. Indeed, it was those
lyrics, particularly "Now, don't hang on, nothing lasts forever but
the earth and sky / It slips away, and all your money won't another
minute buy" that inspired Trent Gardner to create a new version of the
song.
Magellan was formed in the San Francisco Bay area in 1985. The Gardner
brothers have been the core of the group since its inception. Guests
on various Magellan albums have included Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson,
Tony Levin and Twisted Sister's Joe Franco. Throughout the group's
history, one of the driving motivations in terms of musical direction
for Magellan is to keep the "rock" part of "progressive rock" alive in
their music. Like the explorer whose name the band took, Magellan
strives to forge new and unexplored paths.
That explorative nature is also reflected in Trent Gardner's other
project, "Explorers Club." With that group Gardner worked with such
musical luminaries as Billy Sheehan, Yes' Steve Howe, Steve Walsh of
Kansas, several members of Dream Theater (John Petrucci, James Labrie,
John Myung) and Terry Bozzio (Missing Persons, Frank Zappa).
For more information you can check out Magellan on the web at
http://magellansongs.com.
The single can be downloaded from Apple's iTunes and emusic - or the
bands website. Legitimate media representatives can get a review copy
of "Dust in the Wind" by sending an email to pr@musicstreetjournal.com

MORRE's two mini albums "Out There and Contrast"
Consisting of Adrian Tonceanu (Vocals/Guitars), Igor Lazebnik (Vocals/Guitars) and Tyler Koch (Drums/Backup Vocals) Morre was born in early 2008 in Toronto Canada, by the common thirst of creating an original, dynamic yet accessible sound.
This band has a unique story behind its upbringing. Traveling through different parts of the world, each member endured hardships as artists, as well as the joys of meeting new characters throughout their journeys.
These elements give the band endless topics and depth to their lyrical and musical content. Combining dark, mystical themes with camp-fire vibe, this band will trigger a wide range of emotions in their listeners.
With a deeply rooted musical knowledge these three rockers managed to craft an elaborate yet easily digestible sound of their own, using auxiliary instruments, vintage organ and recording methods. Morre's influences are so vast that it's hard to place them in a category of recycled rock.
Though they are a classic rock band, it's almost like they found a fresh sound that was not explored. If one was to describe the band's style, the closest ancestors would be "Paint it black" (Rolling Stones) and "Kashmir" (Led Zeppelin). The selling point of this band is that it doesn't sound like any other band.
Adrian's smoky-lounge baritone (some of the influences: David Gilmour, Jim Morrison, David Bowie, David Gahan and etc.) and Igor's raspy melodic tenor voice (some of the influences: Layne Staley, Eddie Vedder, Mike Patton and etc) complement each other, giving the band many options with a rare edge. Both Adrian and Igor are lead/rhythm guitar players with many common influences such as David Gilmour, Slash, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Keith Richards, Ritchie Blackmore and more. Tyler's diverse drumming and ability to personalize each song is an integral part of the overall sound. Combining a
Ginger Baker/Keith Moon stage persona and style, Tyler is hardly the guy at the back, sharing the spotlight. Morre is known to hire professional bassists for specific events or for their tours which explains why there is always a new face, a fourth member in the band.
Their two records "...Out There" and "Contrast" released in 2010 and 2011 are selling consistently throughout the world, gaining highly acclaimed reviews in North America, Europe and Australia. The albums were featured on many radio shows throughout the above mentioned continents touching a wide demographic range. These albums stablished Morre as an original sounding band and carved a unique path that can be recognized from the first seconds of any of their songs.
In 2011 Morre toured Europe successfully for two and half months playing in 12 countries over 33 concerts as well as taking part of radio shows and interviews for magazines. Upon their return to North America they also played in USA part of the Clinton Arts and Music Festival sharing the stage with many great artists. Currently the band is working on their 3rd record entitled "Morphine" with the deadline set for April 2012. Morre will tour Europe again in 2012 for over three and a half months in the summer/fall of 2012 with the
aim of performing in at least 15 countries.
"I'm rather impressed with this eight track debut from the young Canadian 3-piece (Adrian Tonceanu (Vocals/Guitars), Igor Lazebnik (Vocals/Guitars) and Tyler Koch (Drums/Backing Vocals)). There's a maturity to their impressively varied song arrangements which gives plenty of depth to their considered guitar-rock. Professing their "world sound" to be a combination of "Paint it black" and "Kashmir", there are indeed elements of rock history as they begin to forge their own sound. They already have a lot going from them: excellent harmonies above striking rhythms, nifty riffs over acoustic and electric textures, and a confident and clear sound. It's a short album, (less is Morre, I suppose), but we'll soon hear more of them with second release "Contrast" due out shortly" - Miles Bartaby Classic Rock Society, UK
