Downspirit - Bulletproof

Formed in 2009 by Cédric "Cede" Dupont (guitars), DOWNSPIRIT have released their highly acclaimed and stunning debut album "Point of Origin" in July 2010. Followed by extensive touring around Europe, DOWNSPIRIT have spread their name and talent for heavy rocking riffs and killer hooklines for almost 2 years on the road.

The band also consists of crushing vocalist and entertainer Steffen Lauth, as well as Dennis Wohlbold on bass and Steffen Theurer on drums, who complete the line-up with a blasting feel of rhythm and groove.

Having had the honour to be on the road with well known acts like Grave Digger/Sinner/Good Charlotte and Axel Rudi Pell, amongst others, DOWNSPIRIT have gained a big following of new fans around the European continent. Great press reviews for their debut album and live performance, the band showed what their spirit is all about: to play explosive music and to entertain audiences in all genres.

DOWNSPIRIT have recently been putting finishing touches to their second album called "BULLETPROOF" which is going to be released in Europe and the USA/Canada via Metalville in July/August 2012 to be followed by touring activities around the globe.

12 songs with heavy guitar riffs, melodic hooklines, blasting tones and stumping grooves. This is DOWNSPIRIT, this is like a loud series of bullets crushing into a "BULLETPROOF" wall of sound. Modern, catchy, heavy, grooving, melodic….. This is "BULLETPROOF" cranking up your stereo!

Press:
'Downspirit hail from Germany and 'Bulletproof' is the band's new album which has come out via Metalville and is the follow up 2010's 'Point Of Origin'. 'Greed' opens the album up and it's a heavy solid catchy rocker in the Dokken/Freak Of Nature vein with crisp guitars. The vocals mid way through get a little heavier, this is a good meaty song. Next up is 'Life After Her', this track is quite melodic with heavy guitars, reminds me of Skid Row circa 'Slave To The Grind' crossed with Freak Of Nature mostly due to Steffen Lauth's vocals which come over like Mike Tramp. This is an excellent song with slight modern rock influences coming in. 'Get The F**k Up' starts off funky and retro in style with pumping bass playing from Dennis Wohlbold. This sounds like a modern Firehouse meets Story Of The Year and Skillet, this is very catchy and melodic, this is one of my favourite tracks, I love the whole vibe of this song, the guitar work is excellent and the whole song shows the band on fire.

'The Wish' is also a massive song, this is very melodic with a soaring chorus, again Steffen comes over like Mike Tramp and this song is massive. There are additional gritty scream'o vocals here and there that adds to the songs attractiveness, it's very catchy, the guitars are crisp in the Joe Satriani vein and the drumming and bass work holds it all together, one of the best songs on the CD. 'Human Gift' is another awesome song. Again this is a very up-tempo catchy ditty with huge vocals and playing, I really love this song, makes me think of Pink Cream 69 and Talisman with a little Euro metal thrown in here and there. The quality so far keeps coming and 'Are Your Proud?' is another of my favourite songs, this track just soars and is massive with sharp guitar work, there is almost a southern rock feel and the guitars come across in the Ted Nugent vein. If there is one track the band want to submit to radio then this is it, excellent song. 'Hellyeah' kicks off with fun country twists before blasting its way into a huge splatter of drums and ferocious guitars, this one reminds me of Firewind and maybe even a little Killswitch Engage in parts, superb song.

'Overload' is fucking excellent, this melts everything together and is full of punch and swagger, this is an awesome song that starts off heavy with a southern edge and builds into a massive addictive track. I just adore this song, Steffen's vocals are massive, this track is melodic, gritty with a southern slant, reminds me of Motley Crue circa John Corabi crossed with Freak Of Nature, massive song. 'Gotta Get Away' is punchy and fun whilst 'What a Way To Die' is a more commercial number with keyboards and killer vocals and the kind of background horns (or keyboards) which reminded me of Extreme. This is a great song, strong guitar work drums and bass performance, live I would imagine this song would smoke. 'I'm a Survivor' has a great edge and reminds me of Lynch Mob. The last track is a rocked up cover of Roxette's 'The Look'.

There is so much to enjoy from this album, the great thing about 'Bulletproof' is that it's a varied hard rock album that will please both old school and modern rock fans. I'm really excited about Downspirit, they deliver a strong hard rocking album that holds up all the way through with very little to find fault with, it's sounds creative and full of energy and passion, a good release' - Nicky
