NEW YORK, NY -Monday, July 28, 2014 -- The British progressive-rock pioneers Renaissance, featuring vocalist Annie Haslam, return to New York City this fall. Acclaimed for fusing prog-rock with symphonic and classical influences, Renaissance will perform an evening of band classics along with highlights and debuts from their new album.
This will be Renaissance's fourth return visit to The Concert Hall in NYC, always selling out in advance. The acoustics of this historic century old space provide a pristine environment to showcase the lush textures of Renaissance's songs and Haslam's radiant five-octave range that once made them a staple of 1970s progressive rock radio.
A Symphony of Light, their first studio recording in over a decade, features songs that bathe the listener in flavors from far off countries, with orchestral arrangements and compelling lyrical content, with guest performances from Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull) and John Wetton (Asia).
In a devastating turn, core Renaissance member Michael Dunford died prematurely in 2012 from a major cerebral hemorrhage after the album was finished. A Symphony of Light is a testament to the unforgettable melodies, brilliant musicianship and love that Michael infused into his work. The legacy of Renaissance moves forward in his honor.
Joining Annie Haslam in concert are keyboardist Rave Tesar and bassist/vocalist David J. Keyes, both of whom were previous members of Renaissance and the Annie Haslam Band. The band is joined by drummer Frank Pagano, guest keyboardist Tom Brislin and recently added guitarist/vocalist Ryche Chlanda. Together they revisit the symphonic textures, stunning vocals and poetic lyrics that embody the band's timeless music, and take everyone on a magical journey.
