ProgDay International Progressive Music Festival Release

It's time to announce that the 23rd edition of ProgDay, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, is on schedule to run on this September 2nd and 3rd, 2017, at Storybook Farm.

LONGEST-RUNNING PROGRESSIVE MUSIC FESTIVAL
IN WORLD TO BE HELD LABOR DAY WEEKEND IN CHAPEL HILL

CHAPEL HILL – A legendary progressive rock band from France and one of best keyboardists in progressive music highlight the 2017 ProgDay International Progressive Music Festival, which will be held Sept. 2 and 3 at Storybook Farm near Chapel Hill. France's Shylock, with internationally acclaimed guitarist and composer Frédéric L'Epée, will make their first appearance in the U.S. in the band's storied 40-year history. Shylock will close out the festival on Sunday, Sept. 2, at 5:45 p.m. Returning to the Storybook stage is Swedish keyboard genius Pär Lindh, whose varied and, at times, frenetic, keyboard skills are reminiscent of Keith Emerson. In fact, he plans to perform a tribute to Emerson at ProgDay. He will take the stage on Saturday, Sept. 2, at 1:45 p.m.

The longest-running progressive music festival in the world also will feature seven other bands from across the world. They are Sonar (Switzerland) with special guest David Torn (US), Sonus Umbra (US), iNFiNiEN (US), Bubblemath (US), Ephemeral Sun (US), Hedersleben (Multinational), and the Dave Kerzner Band (US). Taking their cues from the likes of King Crimson, Yes, and Emerson, Lake and Palmer, the groups offer a diversity of progressive music that has been a hallmark of all 22 previous ProgDay festival editions.

The music starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 2, and at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 3. The family-friendly and fun atmosphere also will include vendors who will provide rare opportunities to buy hard-to- get progressive rock recordings, as well as other merchandise and food. Single-day and weekend passes are available at the gate for $75. and $125; students (with ID) half price, children under 16 free with guardian. Complete festival information – including band summaries and ticket sales – is available online at www.progday.net.
