Performance report of De Boerderij and Spirit of 66
On Saturday January 8th, 2011 the moment was there: the Genesis Project kickoff
with the Lamb show. It was 10 years ago we started the show, truly memorable for us!
The preparations were accompanied by some inevitably challenges: With just a couple of months to go untill the Boerderij show, we were still without a gitarist. There seems to be a curse, because yet three gitarists were forced to quit, due to health problems.
Finally we tried to persuade Mark Voorbergen, the very first guitarist of Genesis Project from 10 years ago, to help us out. And luckily for us, he was willing to! After just 6 rehearsals with Mark, we were ready to perform a planned try-out at the end of December 2010 in Apeldoorn.
But even then we were not fortunate: due to heavy snowfall and glazed frost we were forced to cancel this try-out in the Bluescafé Apeldoorn. And so our performance in De Boerderij was the very first time to play in this setting on stage. No try-out, the real thing right away! And also in a crowded house! The nerves were obvious on stage, but we experienced the whole show as one great feast! It is always a great honour to be able to play at a crowded Boerderij! Amongst the audience there were many well-known faces, sometimes known from long vanished times. Herewith we would like to thank all of you again for your presence and enthousiasm!
Three weeks later we headed for the Belgium Ardennes, where the famous Spirit of 66 is situated in the Walloon town Verviers. At this great music café/ concert venue, we were honoured to perform several times. So it was a familair rendez-vous with the charismatic owner Francis Geron. Also it was nice to see weel-known faces from The Netherlands, a.o. bandmembers of Mangrove and Odyssice. We have served a delicious Lamb to a reasonably crowded house. This time thea band was relaxted. De pressure was obvious off after De Boerderij. Much appreciated was the silence of the attentively listening Belgium audience during the quiet musical passages (Cuckoo Cocoon, Carpet Crawlers, Chamber of 32 doors, etc.). Thanks!
Genesis Project in 2012
In 2012 once again we will kickoff at De Boerderij with a new show! We will perform the Seconds Out tour in 2012. Of course with all the songs from that great double album, but also added with songs that should have been on "the third LP"! Please note in advance: Saturday Jnauary 14th., 2012, Genesis Project in De Boerderij with the first Seconds Out show.
