Gandalf's Fist new album "Road to Darkness"

Gandalf's Fist is the creative collaboration between Dean Marsh and Luke Severn.

Our Music is an eclectic mix of all the different styles and genres that we love – be that 70's Progressive Rock, Heavy Metal or even Traditional Folk.

We tend to create music that we, ourselves, like to listen to and can have fun recording and if by sheer chance anyone else likes it...
...great! We welcome you whole heartedly to the bizarre world of Gandalf's Fist! Hopefully you'll get in touch and become a part of our creative journey.

Currently based in Cumbria, England (and wherever we can hang our hats), Gandalf's Fist started in 2005 in Newcastle Upon Tyne and has undergone various changes of existence and membership...

...But at present, here we are, manning the ship and pulling on board anyone who wants to come along for the ride!

A quick breakdown of our current line-up is as follows:
  • Dean: Musics and Generic Warbling
  • Luke: Song-writing and Wizard Impressions
But seriously, we've had many great musical adventures over the years along with our good friends Paul, Ben and Tim, each of whom have helped in the genesis of this project and have contributed to our early creative outpourings (who could ever forget Ben's legendary Bagpipe-Odyssey?)

We floundered around for a while and released a couple of early instrumental demo's inspired by the writings of JRR Tolkien: "Balrog Burger" in 2005 followed closely by "The Nazgul Blade"

Then finally, in 2010, we gave ourselves a big kick up the backside! We put Mr Tolkien on the shelf for a while (don't worry, he'll be back!) and recorded and released "The Master and The Monkey" - A folky-prog concept album based on a story that Luke and Tim (mainly Luke) came up with one drunken night at the Lifeboat Inn.

Fuelled by our new creative spark, we sat down and started to create our second album "Road to Darkness". The album draws influences from many of our Prog Heroes of the 70's and is a twisted space-rock re-imagining of L. Frank Baum's 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz'

We've had great support for this project from all over the world and we are seriously privileged by some of the friends we have made in the process (you know who you are!).
All in all, we're truly enthused and excited about the future of GF and we hope you decide to join us on the Journey!
