Love De Vice - cover of Deep Purple's song "When a Blind Man Cries"

Polish progressive rock band Love De Vice has recently released their first live DVD which features the band's outstanding performance at the Wyspiański Theatre in Katowice. And now you can see another preview track taken from "Silesian Night 11.11.11" DVD - Deep Purple's cover "When a Blind Man Cries" is available now on Metal Mind Productions' official channel on YouTube in THIS location.

Tomasz Kudelski (drums) comments the track: "'When a Blind Man Cries' is the only cover song we've been playing at our gigs, often changing the style of its arrangement. Deep Purple is actually my favourite band. Back when we founded Love De Vice, I envisioned it as a combination of the styles of Deep Purple and Pink Floyd. Even though the song doesn't seem to be such, it's actually very difficult to play because it's beautiful in its simplicity. And it's sung by Gillan, who was a god of vocals at that time. Most of the covers of 'When a Blind Man Cries' are failures because they are just imperfect copies of the original, with bad vocals. We decided to change this song a bit and play it as if it was one of our own. We reconstructed it, we added some motifs which weren't part of the original song and made it much longer. But at the same time we tried to retain the melancholy mood of the original, which goes pretty well with our own style. I'm far from saying we played it better than Deep Purple, but we certainly played it differently. I think our version holds up pretty well, both with reference to the vocal and instrumental performance."
