PSYCHOTIC EYES celebrates the good results with "I Only Smile Behind The Mask"

PSYCHOTIC EYES celebrates the good results with "I Only Smile Behind The Mask"
Released one year ago, reviews for the album published by the Brazilian press brings predicates as "masterpiece" and "cult album"

Although the orthodoxy prevails among most of the Brazilian death metal bands, PSYCHOTIC EYES appears as an antagonistic character to any standard and pre-established formula for this musical segment.
The fact is that PSYCHOTIC EYES is not a common death metal band! Its music is a deep experience that develops from different musical references. The complexity of prog rock, the technique of jazz, the rhythm of the Brazilian music, all these elements come together in a death/thrash metal cauldron.

I Only Smile Behind The Mask, the group's second album, is the synthesis of this proposal. Not in vain, is considered by the own musicians Dimitri Brandi (vocal/guitar), Douglas Gatuso (bass) and Alexandre Tamarossi (drums) as their "big job" until the moment.
After the first anniversary of its release, it became clear that the album marked not only the band's career, but the whole Brazilian death metal scene!

I Only Smile Behind The Mask  managed to break barriers! Paradoxically, the album got the same rating (9.0) on a prog rock website (Progcast) and on other for extreme metal (Metal Extremo). Received reviews full of predicates as "has everything to become a cult album" (Whiplash) and "masterpiece" (Portal do Inferno). It also managed to invade the FM's when having songs played on the major Brazilian radio station KISS FM (Backstage Show) and went beyond the specialized press, being praised by respected journalists like Marcelo Moreira from Jornal da Tarde - one of the biggest Brazilian newspapers - that had declared: "Torture Squad and Korzus now have a serious competitor."

Not only, the album yielded to the band three nominations as "Best of 2011", according to the readers of Roadie Crew, the most important heavy metal and classic rock magazine from Brazil: "Best Brazilian Band", "Best Brazilian Album" and "Best Brazilian Guitarist" (for Dimitri Brandi).

The most impressing, is that I Only Smile Behind The Mask got all this without being release phisically. During all this time the album was available for digital sale on the main web-stores like iTunes or Amazon, at the same time it can be downloaded full and free through the band's official website and social networks.
For PSYCHOTIC EYES, art has no boundaries, much less economics. The band left the decision to the fans that can choose to pay or not for the music. Maybe this is the great secret behind the success of I Only Smile Behind The Mask in times like these where art is not more priority for some "artists".
