Vangough are very proud to share the news of our upcoming EP "Acoustic Scars" available on CDBaby and Bandcamp December 18th on CD and digital formats. For the first time ever we've decided to strip everything down to its core- this is Vangough at their most vulnerable. This is music at its most honest. Please help us share the word with your friends and family. 100% of the proceeds will go to benefit Heartland Rabbit Rescue, a no-kill house rabbit sanctuary in Oklahoma.
The story:
Eleven hours to Atlanta. Eleven hours back. Out of this odyssey "Acoustic Scars" was born. This time Vangough travels back to Bricolage Theater to see what has become of the Manikin Parade. Did the Rabbit King salvage his broken empire? In this chilling retelling of the band's first two albums, Acoustic Scars goes from the contemplative to the celebratory. With a somber and haunting sound, augmented by the addition of cello and violin, this six-song EP housed in a beautiful glossy jacket serves as a creative interpretation of the band's origins up to their most recent release.
"This EP is a testament to our vulnerability as a band and as humans," explains vocalist and guitarist Clay Withrow. "Long story short, the title 'Acoustic Scars' is symbolic of our experience in Atlanta and is also a dedication to our ProgPower fans who we unfortunately missed during the trip."
In keeping with the emblematic lagomorphs-inspired cover artwork, 100% of the EP proceeds will go to Heartland Rabbit Rescue in Oklahoma, a place that is very familiar to Clay. "I adopted my two rabbits, Alice and Patch, from Heartland back in 2007 and they've been my muses ever since." Beginning with a dreary and atmospheric instrumental before segueing into the marquee track "A Song for Crows," the EP closes in celebratory fashion with the Watership Down-inspired suite "The Rabbit Chronicles."
Following the critical success of their second album "Kingdom of Ruin," Vangough's "Acoustic Scars," releasing December 18th, provides a brave musical twist that will hold fans over until the arrival of their third studio album in 2013.
1. Leaving Bricolage
2. A Song for Crows
3. Throne of Rust
4. The Rabbit Chronicles
5. Road to Blighttown
