Melodic Revolution Records and their progressive rock recording artist Unified Past have announced that the bands new CD, "Spots", will be officially released on June 11th of 2013. This follow up to their 2011 recording , "Observations", is a highly anticipated release and is their most gripping recording yet that promises to connect to all fans of progressive rock.
Blending seventies style progressive rock with modern day progressive influences, Unified Past manages to create a unique and identifiable sound.
The compact disc will initially be available through the bands personal website as well as through Melodic Revolutions Records, while also being available through Amazon.com and CD Baby.
"Spots" will be the sixth release by Unified Past and their second release for Melodic Revolution Records. Guitarist / vocalist Stephen Speelman and drummer Victor Tassone are augmented on this recording by bassist Dave Mickelson. Mickelson is a seasoned professional and together with Tassone they lay a solid hard rocking foundation to support the progressive lines of the guitar and keyboards. The band is joined by several guest keyboardists as well.
Featuring artwork by internationally acclaimed artist Ed Unitsky, "Spots" is the most ambitious release in the Unified Past catalogue. It is a musical concept whose aim is to take the listener on a journey to various musical spots across the progressive rock landscape. Starting with the opening track, "Blank", Unified Past delivers a powerful statement and quickly catches the listeners attention. From there, the band takes you on the journey - exploring various styles of progressive rock including progressive metal, fusion, and classic 70's influenced prog, highlighted by the Pink Floyd meets Genesis influenced closer, "The Final".
"Spots" is a deep and structured release and is best absorbed when listened to in its entirety, yet any song can stand on it's own, giving the listener the ability to pick their own favorite spots along this aural adventure.
Unified Past is the best kept progressive rock secret in The United States. Featuring a guitarist with a master's degree in classical guitar performance, a bass player who is currently a member of Joey Belladonna's Chief Big Way, and a thunderous drummer, with a Drum Corps background, who has also appeared on several independent artist releases, there is most certainly plenty of chops to be found in this band's music. But as powerful as this band can be, their overall sound focuses more on melody and song composition than it does on technical gymnastics.
Digital downloads will be available as well.
