New Song Released by Rockers Magellan

"Keep It" Single Follows Two Classic Covers

June 21, 2012, San Francisco, CA – The latest digital single from Magellan continues the momentum for a banner year for the outfit. Coming in quick succession after covers of Kansas' "Dust in the Wind" and The Beatles' "Hello, Goodbye," "Keep It" is the first original composition from Magellan for 2012.

Scott Kahn of MusicPlayers.com posted this about the song on the zine's Facebook page: ""Kansas meets Dream Theater on the new single from prog rock band, Magellan…"Keep It," is big on the classic rock vibe with its multi-part vocal harmonies, while the shred-worthy riffing delivers the impressive chops these guys are known for." When you consider that the new original comes hot on the heels of two covers earning reviews like, "I found heavy-prog rockers Magellan's interpretation of The Fab Four's iconic song to be just as  listenable, danceable, 'singalongable' as the original." (Vivian Lee) and "'Dust in the Wind' is given a makeover that will even impress skeptics." (Josh Turner), it's obvious Magellan are on creative fire these days.

"Keep It" represents the first new original music from Magellan since 2007. It also serves as the first new song leading up to the release of a new Magellan album, Inert Momentum. In the modern age, the model of an album getting released all at once seems to be a dying paradigm.

Magellan have always been a forward thinking band, and therefore they've embraced the concept of releasing digital singles as each is finished. Ultimately, it gives fans a chance to enjoy new songs immediately upon completion.

Magellan was formed in the San Francisco Bay area in 1985. The Gardner brothers have been the core of the group since its inception. Guests on various Magellan albums have included Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson, Tony Levin and Twisted Sister's Joe Franco. Like the explorer whose name the band took, Magellan strives to forge new and unexplored paths.
