Dallas, TX - February 25, 2014. North American syndicated Rock radio
show and website InTheStudio: The Stories Behind History's Greatest
Rock Bands gets closure with Pink Floyd on the 20th anniversary of
their final album The Division Bell.
The 1987 Momentary Lapse of Reason album, the first without band
co-founder Roger Waters, provided Pink Floyd with the comeback,
certainly commercially, for which the band had hoped. Further
galvanized by a sixty date world tour where they earned more than a
million dollars per show, it firmly allowed David Gilmour's, Nick
Mason's, and Rick Wright's claim to legitimacy as Pink Floyd to ring
true. It would be seven years until they produced what would turn out
to be their last, The Division Bell , a triple platinum seller and
true group effort with the late Rick Wright writing and even singing
lead on the song "Wearing the Inside Out". The album's underlying
theme is the paradox of creeping isolation in an increasingly
connected world, evidenced within their own band by the lack of
communication and personal estrangement from Roger Waters which
resulted in their very public "divorce". With InTheStudio host
Redbeard, drummer Nick Mason chimes in with what he admits will always
be a sticking point with certain Pink Floyd partisans.
"There will always be people who feel Pink Floyd ended when Roger
left, just as there are people who feel Pink Floyd ended when Syd
Barrett left (after the first album). You can't change that, and for
them that is the case. As much as I would like to convince them
otherwise, I understand that is the case."
This program includes InTheStudio host Redbeard's interview with the
late Rick Wright as well as touching tributes from David Gilmour and
Nick Mason.
